Development roadmap
step 3 : The network long overdue for some checkpoints to help secure the block chain & add better icons using new dimecoin logo
step 4 : We could reduce the maximum currency supply of Dime to something much smaller (would need community vote on this) <- has been voted against step 5 : Possibly add some cool new feature to the block chain? Something to grab peoples imagination. How about some kind of decentralised escrow system?
I suppose we should hold off on (3) until the new logos and website are released by boxxl. Please post any suggestions or ideas you have for the development roadmap.
Development of (3) will not commence until my donation account balance receives 300M DIME. Item (5), whatever cool feature it might be, would have to be negotiated separately.

Thanks.
Edit: I've updated my description to state that the 300M is for step 3, but does not include step 5.
Happy to see it. I wonder if we can all together relaunch this awesome coin. step 6 : I was thinking about the feature added to the bitcoin blockchain. Have you read about Bitcoin 2.0? Can we do something like Coloured Coins to respald the coin value? It can be a good stuff. step 7 : I can host a Spanish site if you want and help with translations Im not dev. but maybe i can help with something else. I want to ear you opinion. Best regards! Step 6: too big a task and there are already too many more mature codes with larger dev teams working on this. DIME has enough trouble just scraping up a bounty for a wallet. I would opt for something cool, but simpler. Step 7: sounds like a good contribution! That could be very useful.

What's to stop malicious nodes from creating their own genesis blocks with super special bonus additions?
Master blockchain. Isn't the whole point that the block chain will be shrunk? So, at this stage who would have the master block chain?
|
|
|
Who create that genesis block and distribute it? Or maybe everyone can create it with a simple tool. How do we coordinate everyone?
Every node can construct new genesis block using previous blockchain. No need to distribute it. What's to stop malicious nodes from creating their own genesis blocks with super special bonus additions? That might be circumvented cryptographically. Additionally, who else is going to verify that transaction? Nobody, because they don't see the super special bonus additions. So, the guy will spend nothing of the additional money. Unfortunately, you have not really answered my question with anything concrete. What specifically do you mean by "circumvented cryptographically"?

How's progress with the decentralised exchange backend and frontend GUI going?
I've just checked out counterparty, but to be honest, it's too damn slow, also there are just too many issues with piggybacking on the bitcoin block chain. I think NXT has the right model.
Do you know why it's slow? Two very fundamental reasons 1. each operation on the exchange (e.g. putting in a buy or sell order) has a 10 minute delay (because it requires 1 Bitcoin block to be solved) 2. because all counterparty transactions are simply nested inside the bitcoin blockchain, they are not automatically validated like native bitcoin transactions. This means that in order to validate a transaction the counterparty clients must rewind back from the counterparty genesis/PoB transactions and revalidate to the present point, which is way more inefficient than in bitcoin, where the Merkel tree is able to speed things up. To be fair: 1) The second point is valid, but you will not notice the difference as long as you have whole blockchain downloaded. When I pointed out this first in XCP thread, I mean the main drawback is the time to download the blockchain in the beginning. You will notice the slow parsing time only when a XCP is transferred tens of thousands of times, and that will not happen in near future. 2) The first point is of course true, but should be acceptable to most average users. Normally, we trade only once several days. Even day traders only trade couple of times per day. Another issue I've noticed while testing it out is... 3) dealing with the two different fees complex and annoying. There are XCP fees and BTC fees...

Basecoin is really nice. I'm surprised there not more buzz on this thread.

just purchased dimecoin.info
Going to install a wordpress template and post info about coin, mining, and exchanges. Any suggestion is welcome.
Nice one. There's already a really nice site available (see first post in this thread), why not host that on your domain?

In the meantime, I wish to report that 0.7.0 is running successfully with an H2 database backend, no more serialized java object files. No need to keep all blocks and transactions in memory anymore.
Magic! nice work.

I'll have some of that 4%.
Thanks!

The permanent node at 193.68.21.38 is updated to the new fork version (protocol version 60080);
The pool at sptpool.digsys.bg is updated as well.
The current network hash rate is around 4 Mhash/s?!?! Is this possible?
It was up around 400 earlier which is why blocks are slow now Got addnodes?

Will be some solution for this?
U will be able to lease forging power without transferring the coins. Everyone! You must know that we are all already in one giant NXT POOL with a volume of 1billion shares, you still earn your share if you forge. To forge is kind of selfish here, who have a lot of NXT have more probability to forge, this is not fear, we use this Crypto currency to decentralized the paper currency and avoid capitalism, but is not like that. You could also say it like this (in regards to Bitcoin/scrypt crypto's) "To mine is kind of selfish here, who have the most mining rigs have more profitability to mine, this is not fear, we use this Crypto currency to decentralized the paper currency and avoid capitalism, but is not like that. " The more you invest, the more you forge(NXT).
The more you invest, the more you mine(BitCoin/Scrypt). The more you invest, the more you forge(NXT). less energy wasted = sustainable in long term
When you own NXT your mining kit (i.e. NXT) appreciates, as opposed to bitcoin where it rapidly depreciates and you need to reinvest into mining hardware every 6 months. From this perspective NXT is a superior investment for mining. Just wait until the TPS increases as the decentralised exchange goes online... then those fees collected from forging/mining NXT will start to look very attractive.

step 3 : The network long overdue for some checkpoints to help secure the block chain step 4 : We could reduce the maximum currency supply of Dime to something much smaller (would need community vote on this) I will look into doing (3) in the next few days. I'll also update the logo on the clients to the one used on this forum because, honestly, it looks much more professional. Regarding (4), what's the community's thoughts on this? Shall we cap the DIME supply at 130B and change the block reward to something much smaller and more sensible, like 10-40 DIME / block, and stretch it out over the next 5-10 years? If the community wants these done, what's the bounty for it? ask your price, ill post it in front page, we'll see how the dime community respond to it. I'll personally chip in on your step 3 suggestion 300M the lot of it BTW: do we have community controlled seed nodes? Who operates the seed nodes listed?

So, are we going to add some clever cool new features to DIME or what?
|

Urgent thing to do is to fork the coin and destroy the dev's premine...
We don't need to do that anymore. According to Boxxl, the evil dev has already spent his premine https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=382164.msg4894936#msg4894936So, that would seem to imply DIME's a bit safer an investment than before. Could someone else independently verify this?
