1441  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: NEMStake - Read here how to request it. on: September 23, 2014, 05:21:55 PM
I think I want to request my stake. The registration process for normal distribution sounds very difficult Sad

I don't think we'll issue anymore assets.
What about it do you find difficult ? It's like redeeming a voucher so not really rocket science Smiley
We're actually thinking about making a step by step guide for AE and BTT people so i think it'll be really easy once that comes.

Ok, I was just peaking at the redeem instructions, but there were deadlines and all and I am not online each day, would hate to miss it!

Will you notify all stakeholders via PM`? that would be good!

You'll get a code via pm so if you're notified of PMS you won't miss it Smiley
1442  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Crowdsale has begun[Updates & Discussion] on: September 23, 2014, 01:06:32 PM
Here is my current draft for an infographic guide to stake redemption for NXT asset exchange stakeholders. If this is approved then I'll make a version similar in appearance/style for the redemption process for BTT stakeholders as well. First I want to get the design down and the community's approval.

Suggestions are welcome!

Makes sense to me, but for the recipient address (NXT address) do I put in my NXT address or the address I purchased the asset from. (I only own a portion of a stake on the AE...)

The address will be disclosed in time. I guess the graphic will need to be updated with the address when the time comes.
1443  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Crowdsale has begun[Updates & Discussion] on: September 23, 2014, 08:03:22 AM
I guess we could make a how-to video for each phase once it starts to really make everything abundantly clear.
1444  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Crowdsale has begun[Updates & Discussion] on: September 23, 2014, 06:58:39 AM
It is not complicated for me   Cool

The person receiving the second stake is not that familiar with computers.  Not everyone
is you know.  They will need help.  Nothing to do with being slow.  Some people just have
different strengths and skills dealing with crypto and stuff.

The directions emphasize being correct in the procedure.  Feedback was requested and
this is my view.

I really appreciate you feedback.
I guess I just didn't expect anyone that isn't familiar with computers at all to be a NEM stakehodler.
1445  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Crowdsale has begun[Updates & Discussion] on: September 23, 2014, 06:46:36 AM
Here is how the NEM redemption process looks: https://medium.com/@xtester/nem-redemption-process-f90db6b10eef

We are interested in hearing your thoughts and feedback before we move forward with it.  Smiley

The phase 1 seems a little bit complicated or at least I wasn't able
to understand how it goes by reading it only once.
Maybe having a flow chart that shows the redemption process in steps could be useful
and will be more clear and understandable.

I agree that phase 1 seems a bit complex.  Should be able to figure it out but the person
receiving the second stake for them, will have a hard time without my help. They are not
that computer savy and only have a cell phone.

Should be fine. Hope process is very clear in final revision. Looks good so far.

 Smiley

I'm sorry people but how is this complex:

Step1: Receive a pm with a code.
Step2: Visit a website enter the code and click submit

Done.

Huh

It's more complicated to sign up on btt and you all figured that out Smiley

I really don't mean to be condescending (I'm sometimes borderline retarded myself) but srsly how could phase 1 be any easier ?

/edit: Just checked the portal on my phone and it workes there too so there really should be no problem for anyone.
1446  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SuperNET - ICO conducted by BTER + ... on: September 23, 2014, 06:39:26 AM
as soon as the SuperNET asset is distributed, TOKEN loses all value so I strongly advise to remove any TOKEN bids in the AE after 1400 GMT on Tuesday

James

This needs to be more prominently visible in order to avoid people claiming they weren't informed and bought cheap after the deadline thinking they'd picked up a bargain.

Perhaps also have the exchange screens display it.

I don't even understand why they lose value in the first place. If TOKEN has to be redeemed by sending them to an address I can send a TOKEN that I bought at anytime right ? So why would unredeemed TOKENs ever lose value before the time limit for redemption (I'm guessing there will be one) ?

1448  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT, OpenTransaction and Ripple on: September 22, 2014, 01:08:04 PM
Ripple doesn't really offer anything anymore.  When SuperNet comes online NODE will be the payment processor and it's a generation ahead of Ripple (NODE is integrating BTC, USD, EUR, CNY and maybe HRV).

In Ripple I can send EUR and have USD come out on the other end without me doing anything other than hitting a button. That's the realy beauty of Ripple. It let's you pay in any currency and finds a path to autmatically exchange it into whatever the receiver is accepting.
Afaik NODE will "only" have multiple currencies in one wallet which you can deposit via an exchange. Could be wrong though.

Ya man, it's "magic" the way you pay random, high exchange fees just by "hitting a button" on Ripple...
And Ripple is a currency exchange network... NXT is Crypto Assets.

OT has never reached critical mass... it doesn't matter if a bunch of devs use it.

NXT, against all odds, is the one that's reached critical mass and exponential growth...
It's because they hit the "complexity sweet spot"... useful, but not too complex...
So there are almost 300 Assets on NXT AE and growing almost 1%/day...
Meaning there should be 4000-5000 assets traded in one year.

The killer is these Crypto Assets have broken through to Polo and BTER...
You can move them outside the NXT ecosystem... fucking brilliant...
(If you wanna buy a basket of 27 top NXT assets just buy JLH on Polo).

Show me meaningful network stats for Ripple or GTFO.

well since you asked so friendly and eloquently...

<My nem wallet is normal or not?>
1)NIS is running(booted), NCC is running.
NIS is synchronizing. At block 14XXX, est. 36 days behind.---today.
                                                         35 days behind ---yesterday
                                                         34 days behind----2 days ago
33 days behind ---3 days ago.
                                                        (time goes backward)
2)yesterday somebody sent me nem. it was unconfirmed holding condition.
but today, it disappeared and there remains no transaction history.
3) I am window vista user.
I've heard java 8 need at least window 7. But I luckily installed Java(TM) ME SDK 8.0
My wallet is normal or not?
If it is normal, is it because NEM did not launch yet?
If it is abnormal, is it because of Window vista?

Time doesn't run backwards (and if it does I have to ask the devs how they got the fluxcompensator running without plutonium). It's counting down because you're less and less (fewer and fewer blocks) behind. Would you like to be further behind as time proceeds Smiley ?

What does "unconfirmed holding condition" mean ?

You need Java 8, there is no restriction on OS so Windows 7 or Vista doesn't matter.

The thing with the tx doesn't sound normal but I just don't understand what you're saying enough to give an answer regarding that. There was a small forking problem with the .16 release which is why .18 came so fast. I guess this could have caused weird behaviour but bloody or gimre would be better to answer that.

Now don't worry that such a thing could happen after launch. Aftler launch there will be a testnet and anything that goes south goes south there and not on the "production" net. Extensive testing and monitoring the network is exactly what the alpha is for Wink
1451  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Crowdsale has begun[Updates & Discussion] on: September 22, 2014, 05:02:38 AM
The one-click installer works for me (Win7 and Firefox).  Smiley
The first time it takes 35 min for the NIS to synchronize and download ~66,000 blocks.
The second time it boots up in about 2 minutes.

Please send some test NEM, my address is in the sig.
Thanks

That seems awfully slow. Can you give us your system and connections specs ?
1452  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [AИN] NODE - 2n Gen. CryptoCurrency build from SCRATCH on NODE.JS - Brand NEW! on: September 21, 2014, 05:19:46 PM
Please can someone explain how exactly NODE forging works? I have a NODE that will run constantly. So I can optimize the forging block sending NODEs to other people?
But it is necessary to wait a while between one transaction and another? How long is the wait?
THX!

Sure, this is how it works:

At the moment there are 2 primordial parameters that define which node is going to be elected: Time & Spent Volume(ammount)!

at the beginning when the forging module will be set in place: your timeHeight(the amount of time that you spent online since your last connection) will be calculated by the network and compared to other nodes timeHeight.

After determining the time, the second parameter will kick in and will determine the spent amount since your last login, each node will value 1unit of time - adding an extra second for each node you sent out of your account.

Those will be summed acordingly and we'll get the Nodeheight = timeHeight + Units

Practical example:
blockgeneration time: 14:00 pm 21/09/14
Node I(icharles123) connected @ 1:00 pm  21/09/14 and hasn't made any transaction => timeHeight=3600s + 0 Units = 3600NodeHeight
Node A (Mr.hotdog) connected @ 1:05 pm  21/09/14 and sent 1 node.  => timeHeight=2700s + 1 Unit = 2701 NodeHeight

Nodeheight 3600 > Nodeheight 2701 =>  Node I > Node A => Node I will generate the block!

After a block is generated Node I's NodeHeight will be reseted, and the cycle will restart!

Questions?

Yes and the whitepaper unfortunately doesn't address this.
How you prevent me from looping my NODEs through a couple of accounts boosting my Nodeheight through the amount of "spent" NODEs ? Is there any magic going on or is it "just" the fees ?

After you generate a block, it looks like the NodeHeight is reset, so anyone online longer than you will have an advantage.  But if you send many many Nodes, and there are not a lot of people who have been online for a long time, maybe you would be the one to generate a block?

Since timeHeight is in seconds, and 1 node is the equivalent of 1 second, you would need to send 86400 nodes to be equal to another node that has been online for 24 hours and sent nothing (24*60*60).  Maybe the "time value" of each node should be lower at the start until there is enough use and value, like 10 nodes per second or something?  What do you guys think.

What If I'm constantly online (still no idea how that is even verified unless I fail to generate block when it's my turn) AND send NODES around like a maniac ?

The fees are probably high enough to make this very expensive I'm just wondering if there is another mechanism at play to avoid this.

Any chance of some MORE test Nemies ?

When you  upgrade the wallet is there a certain way of doing it without loosing them Nemies?
Thanks

You have to backup your wallet. That .wlt file in the nem folder.

Kodty. I have not claimed yet. when can we start? thanks in advance

im not sure when it will start again.. im sure it will be posted here as soon as it is known..

Personally i feel like we shouldn't resume. Distribution is like a few weeks out anyway so why not just give the people time to get their accounts back or report their accounts stolen ?
Many people only check btt monthly so those will only fall for and report the fishing in a bit. It's impossible for us to know which accounts are compromised and which not. With more time passing hopefully most people will be able to recover their accounts or at least report them stolen.

Are you saying that if this individual had tried the scam at the start of nemstake distribution then the whole nemstake distribution would have not gone ahead ?

no.

I just think Pat that you can never be completely 100% sure that someones account hasnt been hacked. I think it is the persons responsibility to not get his account compromised. I just hate it when a whole community process is stopped by some idiot scammer.

Yes it is everyones respsonsibilties but I also wouldn't like NEMStakes in the hands of the scammer no matter who's fault it is.
Disitrbution is onl a few weeks out so imho it's really not that big of a deal.
Anyway this is just my opinion.

Are PoS coins merge-mineable ?

Please excuse me if that is a silly question !

Pure PoS coins can't be mined at all. CGB however is a hybrid and does use PoW as well. I don't see why it wouldn't be merge-minable but I'm no expert on that.

Whitepaper is extremely vague and English is horrible.

Lol.. english is horrible and estonian? is also horrible? What did you expect? A technical explanation from a dev point of view?
It was supposed to be this way. It's for normal users. Not for an expert like you who can see the matrix.

A whitepaper is typically a "a technical explanation from a dev point of view". This "whitepaper" is a high-level abstract at best.

Hi Jaguar,

Please direct me to a cryptocurrency which, in your opinion, has published a proper whitepaper.

http://www.nxtcommunity.org/nxt-whitepaper

Node paper is lacking technical content. if i can understand it, then it is a weak paper

Yea, the NXT whitepaper is a good example.
i just think ALL NEM devs hate NODE  Roll Eyes

some of you don't seem to understand the grave you're digging by blindly fervently a coin that is still technically weak. you are building up a hype where there shouldn't be any. when people see this thread, they get excited and want to invest right away! little do they know that this coin shouldn't have even been launched (in my opinion). once they figure this out, they dump and stay away permanently.

then there are threads that I follow like BTCD/NEM/BBR where technical discussions are often taking place. these are the coins with the greatest potential because the community questions the developers and this provides a transparency to what the devs are doing. Here, this is the total opposite. Devs are quiet and hard to understand. 70% of posts are "to the moon" type.

if this coin falls, it is because of the weak community that calls FUD/troll when people ask questions about the project. this cannot continue to happen if node is going to succeed.

i hope the community understands what i am saying

The NODE whitepaper was very transparent and concise vs the NXT paper, even though it was technical - they failed to comment on the unfair distribution! ! NXT is an elaborate ponzi scam. Sorry to hurt your feelings. Smiley

what does unfair distribution mean to you?

NXT distributed the same way NODE did
I was pressing for details about NEM's fast exchange they keep talking about and was personally attacked in the NEM forum and that wasn't the first time either.

Plz point me to the post where you've been personaly attacked ?
There are no details because we don't even have the details. Unlike others we don't release shit premature.
you turned in a really troll, shit is a coin without nothing only words and tokens. you need focus in your coin and stop fud and attack NODE months ago and you only want attack NODE i really want know why ... Nem team is so cool, anyone remember utopianfuture ? Hmmm stop spread fud the past of nem is not very good.

yes well....lol....okay.
