14561  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain and Healthcare: Use Cases Today and Opportunities for the Future on: December 20, 2018, 09:58:24 PM
Use of Healthcare Data and How It Can Benefit from Blockchain

Blockchain and healthcare can bandage data management issues easily. The tech can create Blockchain medical records accessible and identical the world over. Patients could always have access to their health and treatment records when needed, and doctors as well. The use of Blockchain for medical records is closer upon us than it seems.

This is completely unfeasible unfortunately. Medical data is currently generated at the rate of 80 MB per average patient per year. With the ever increasing rate of chronic diseases, this is likely to grow over the next few decades, but lets keep it at 80 MB for now. That means that a blockchain just for the United States would grow at a rate of (325 million * 80 MB) = 24 petabytes per year. In 10 years time, we now have a database over 250 petabytes (250 million gigabytes) in size, bearing in mind the rate of growth of your database will increase both as more data per patient is generated and population size increases. Given that people already think that 200 GB is too large for a database, how are we going to cope with a database that is a million times larger?

If you want to make that worldwide as you suggest, the numbers just become hilarious to even consider.
14562  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Well played btc family on: December 20, 2018, 09:34:11 PM
The only reason why BitcoinCash and SV are increasing the most is due to manipulation.

Also, the whole market is pumping. Scam coins like EOS have pumped. Joke coins like DOGE have pumped. Even Bitcoin Gold and Bitcoin Diamond have pumped. When Bitcoin grows, they grow. When Bitcoin falls, they fall. They cannot stand on their own because they don't do anything better than Bitcoin does it, except being manipulated.

I would hardly call them a family, given that Ver and Wright would both like to see the end of Bitcoin and each other. A very dysfunctional "family" if you ask me.
14563  Other / Meta / Re: DT trust ABUSE by people here. Needs attention at once before goes out of hand on: December 20, 2018, 02:11:54 PM
I hate to say it, but you are sounding more and more like digaran with each post. Just because the (vast) majority disagree with your opinion, it doesn't mean they are part of some gang, inner circle, cartel, mafia, or any of the other ridiculous accusations that get bandied about. It usually just means you are wrong.

Here are the facts:

You initially claimed marlboroza was
pretending to quote me when I never said that at all

It has been pointed out to you multiple times, by multiple members, in multiple threads, that he was not quoting you directly, but using "scare quotes", which are a widely recognised and commonly used part of the English Language.

You refused to accept these explanations, and instead doubled down and claimed that marlboroza is
misquoting me and trying to silence me

marlboroza leaves you red trust for lying about him, at which point you continue to refuse to accept that you were in the wrong, start insulting the people who are trying to help you, and claim they are all part of some "gang".

While I don't think you deserve red trust for this, you are 100% in the wrong in here. As has been the case for others, the flat out refusal to accept that you just might have been mistaken, coupled with walls of insults at other members, is far more dishonest and concerning behaviour than the initial issue.

Your red trust has been removed, so thankfully this issue is now resolved. This thread can be locked.
14564  Other / Meta / Re: Banned Account *Buratinos* on: December 20, 2018, 01:36:35 PM
I did not duplicate the message on *bitcointalk.org*.
The PostCoin community was given a message template.

I just duplicated on third-party forums.

PS
AliCris this is not my account.

It doesn't matter. The bottom line is you made a post in which the content was written by someone else, without providing correct attribution. The fact that other people who were shilling and/or being paid by "PostCoin" also took part in this behaviour is not an excuse. If you wish to provide links to their posts, then they will be banned as well, but your ban will not be reversed.
14565  Other / Meta / Re: Ideas for topic ordering in altcoin announcements? on: December 19, 2018, 09:28:38 PM
Adding UP/DOWN button for each post and then sorting posts with that filter would be great idea

That's far too easy to abuse and manipulate. It would quickly result in a market for entire armies of newbie alts and bots to upvote your thread and downvote your competitors' threads for a price.
14566  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: December 19, 2018, 04:54:13 PM
I think it is a bit too early to start thinking of transferring new players although that would be ideal in my opinion. I think they should focus more on the players they have and try to find a more harmonious way to make them play better together rather than thinking of transferring new players. It maybe the ideal solution when they adapt easily but in this phase of the Premier League focusing on the actual group would be a wiser idea.

Exactly. They've spent enough money with Mou, and I doubt they will want to spend even more money with Solskjaer given he is only going to be there for 6 months. More likely they will want to wait for whoever the new permanent manager is to come in and let him build the team in the way he sees, rather than be given a team of players someone else has picked and have no room for maneuver.

Their 1st team squad is just fine on paper - easily good enough to be top 4. They just need the right manager. I don't think Solskjaer is it, but he's not meant to be. This season is already a write off for them.
14567  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1.6 billion in gold vs 1.6 billion in Bitcoins on: December 19, 2018, 04:18:00 PM
People complain about the waste of electricity to produce Bitcoins. But it is unbelievable the waste of the various resources we spend or no we do not use to serve only as a store of value.

Only somewhere in the region of 10-20% of gold produced is actually used in electronics, medicine, industry, food, etc. The rest is used solely as jewelry and as a store of value. Which means for all the energy that goes in to mining gold, 80-90% sits and does nothing, either looking pretty as bars locked in vault or looking pretty as a piece of jewelry. Always seemed strange to me.

the evaluation of gold is purely mentall, it could quickly be replaced, simply by a non or even anti gold civilisational culture.

We could easily discover a new alloy or compound tomorrow that improves on gold's conductivity or inertness, and renders the major real use of gold obsolete. Or as you say, any culture which moves away from shallow body ornamentation would place far less value in gold as an asset.
14568  Economy / Economics / Re: On stablecoins on: December 19, 2018, 03:29:02 PM
Instead of embracing the revolution and go decentralized we are sucked into more of the same shit.

This happens in crypto too. Look at the top 10 coins at the moment. XRP and EOS are both completely centralized. Both Bitcoin Cash forks are pretty much cults of personality surrounding Ver and Wright. Tether is entirely run by one organization who refuse to even allow an independent audit to verify their claims that they are backed up 1:1 with fiat as they claim.

Therefore, I especially do not even care if they are supported by fiat or not.

I understand your point, but if it eventually comes out that Tether is not backed up by fiat as they claim, the price will dump hard. If you happen to be holding any Tether at the time, you will lose out big time.

I've heard that uBlock Origin is better

I use uBlock Origin, and couldn't recommend it more. It works perfectly, requires minimal user set-up or maintenance, and I have never had any problems bypassing all those "Disable your ad blocker or you can't access this site" pop-ups and overlays we were just discussing. Having said that, I do also generally block Javascript by running NoScript, so I can't say for sure whether it is uBlock or NoScript that is responsible for blocking these pop-ups. I'm afraid I have no desire to turn either off for even a short time to ascertain the answer - I would recommend everyone uses both anyway.
14570  Economy / Reputation / Re: cryptohunter's problem with the top 200 merit receivers on: December 19, 2018, 07:31:38 AM
Please stop pretending you are just accidentally browsing random search engines and not stalking down my every thread. I would never invite you to spam your sig whilst pretending to make worthwhile comment.

You really go searching for your own username in search engines with the exact same mispelling as mine.... sounds like a usual excuses I hear in meta.
This was clearly sarcasm.

Are you seriously telling me he was aiming quoting something you didnt go near mentioning? ... get real. Nobody could accept that explanation because you never said anything like that.
The use of the quotation marks was clearly "scare quotes", and not as a direct quote of something anybody said.

This is diabolical and worse that 300lbs of DT abuse
This was clearly a joke.

So people can get red trust for saying lemon without it being an abuse of the trust system?
This was clearly a metaphor.

I think part of the problem here is that cryptohunter, being (I presume) a non-native English speaker, is literally taking everything, well, literally. When you re-read everything with this mindset, it is easier to see how this misunderstanding arose and escalated. Perhaps with this in mind, we can all come to an agreeable solution. Having said that cryptohunter, you are not helping yourself by continuing to rage at people who are trying to help you (e.g. suchmoon and The Pharmacist).

I want him to run me through his entire though process during that exchange starting with me saying marlboroza is misquoting me.

1 - marlboroza made a post here containing two direct quotes from you, as well as a couple of "scare quotes".

2 - You then stated he was:
pretending to quote me when I never said that at all.

3 - Everyone assumed you were talking about the actual quotes, and so suchmoon made a video showing that you click on the quotes and it will bring you directly to the posts where you said the quoted text.

4 - A couple of posts later, you elaborated that it was the "scare quotes" you were objecting to, which no one ever claimed were said by you (or anybody else for that matter).

5 - The confusion was cleared up.

@oieoie

A truly impressive misspelling of a word that only has 3 letters.

@craptobanter

In the other thread you said you were done with this topic and wanted to move on and to discuss something new. Once again, I would urge you to take your own advice.
14572  Economy / Reputation / Re: cryptohunter's problem with the top 200 merit receivers on: December 19, 2018, 01:00:35 AM
stalking down my every thread
I will post where I like and when I like

the top 0.13% not only benefit from their own cycling of merit ... they also gain merit from merit seeking ass kissers who hang out in meta and give them some back.
I will merit whom I please

See also: hypocrisy, double standards, do as I say and not as I do, pot calling the kettle black

It seems we all agree there are some good posts and good posters who go unnoticed and therefore unmerited. It also seems we all agree that people are free to send merit to whomever they like, for whatever content they like, in whatever quantities they like, and in whatever timeframe they like. With that in mind, if you are serious about rectifying this situation, I would suggest your time and energy would be better spent either hunting down these unmerited good posts for the sources' collective attention, or reporting bad posts to help clean up the Altcoin boards.
14573  Other / Meta / Re: ICO team Blacklist sub forum Request on: December 19, 2018, 12:27:10 AM
Some ICOs use teams that aren't even real, made up of random stock photos and fake names. Some ICOs steal team members or entire teams from other ICOs or LinkedIn. Some ICOs don't even use names and photos, but instead use pseudonyms and graphics. Some ICOs don't even list team at all. You can go to the Scam Accusations board and see plenty of examples of all the categories I just listed. Unfortunately, these scam project still manage to convince newbies and idiots to send them their money. If newbies aren't checking if the project even has a team in the first place, then they definitely won't be checking if any member of that team is on some form of "blacklist".

Who would get to decide who goes on the blacklist anyway? If I were in charge, I would be putting Ver and Wright on there as numbers one and two, but I know there are many in the forum who would disagree with me.

I'm afraid we can't protect everyone from every scam. Caveat emptor.
14574  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: December 18, 2018, 11:38:18 PM
-snip-

My thoughts exactly - he had only 9 months at Cardiff and got them relegated. It does seem all but confirmed at the moment that he's got the job, though. Couldn't have picked a nicer guy though, and I struggle to see him having any big disagreements with any player like Mou had. Perhaps even more importantly though, it seems confirmed that Mike Phelan, who was head coach and then assistant manager for many years under Sir Alex Ferguson, is going to be coming back as Solskjaer's number two. That's as close to SAF as you can get without actually bringing back SAF.
14575  Economy / Speculation / Re: Which Coins will be the top 10 on market cap in 2019? on: December 18, 2018, 10:58:17 PM
tezos of course.
it will be great pump in 2019.
and come to top5 in my opinion
What do you mean "of course" - Tezos has really shitty fundamentals to become a top 10 much less top 5 coin. It's a ripoff idea of Ethereum but using a computer language nobody knows or wants to take the time to learn to develop on the platform. Meanwhile you have a foundation board who doesn't have a fucking clue how to manage image, lawsuits, and a dev team that is about to be paid millions and let off the hook for any future blockchain maintenance or development. Further, you have a shit ton of new coins being created out of thin air each day and dumped on the market with no strong demand because no projects are being built on it (see first fundamental problem).

What you say is all correct, but since you've only been here a few weeks, I see that you haven't yet learned the "Altcoin Shilling" language that is commonplace throughout the altcoin boards. Generally speaking, any post which talks about "to the moon", "pumping", "future top 10" or similar, without providing any reasoning whatsoever can be safely ignored. Allow me to offer a quick translation:

"Great pump" = I am holding huge bags of this shit
"Future Top 10 coin" = I really hope this shitcoin pumps so I can dump all these huge bags

OK. Other options you can try are using an ad blocker like uBlock which trys to prevent websites from doing this by blocking Javascript. Or simply disable Javascript altogether on the Business Insider website - the NoScript add-on which was linked in the 2nd post in this thread will do the trick. You can also do this natively in Chrome by clicking the padlock to the left of the URL, clicking "Site Settings", and disabling Javascript.

I will update the Original post so that members will be able to see all these addons.

Bear in my the add-ons I've linked will do nothing to protect you from phishing. They are good for online privacy, anonymity and to prevent websites from tracking you, but these things should be of interest to most crypto users.

14578  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: More than 608k BTC was moved from dormant wallets! on: December 18, 2018, 06:37:12 PM
Exchanges like Coinbase may not be called whales alone, but centrally controlled whales who, with just one steer of their boss, may drive the markets towards the side their boss has chosen.

There's a difference between dumping 608,000 bitcoins and market manipulation, which I agree Coinbase are certainly guilty of (not to mention insider trading). The 608,000 bitcoins they are moving around, for a large part, aren't theirs. The BTC belong to Coinbase's customers who are currently actively trading, or (stupidly) storing their coins on the exchange. They could theoretically move all these coins to another exchange, sell them, make billions and dump the market, but they would all quickly end up in prison.

I visited business insider they will block their article with a window until you turned off your ad blocker.

In either Firefox or Chrome you can do the following:

Either press F12 to bring up Developer Tools, and click the small pointer in a box at the top left of the toolbar to select Inspector -OR- press Ctrl + Shift + C
Select the pop-up box/window/overlay that is getting your way
Press delete
Press F12 again to close the Developer Tools toolbar
14580  Economy / Economics / Re: What will you do in 2030? on: December 18, 2018, 05:09:44 PM
Automation largely increased industrial production, and yet, we're all working more than ever! Why didn't we lower it to 4 hour working days for one partner, instead of having both partners work full time?

Again, I'm very thankful that I am in a job that is both (until technology becomes way more advanced) immune to automation and will literally always be in demand. The downside to that being that unfortunately people get sick 24/7, and so moving to a 4 hour workday is unlikely at best. Grin
