Yeh, I know the feeling - I'm one from three this round and the last round was four from eight.  ^{(at least that parlay makes up for these losses) - I've found six from eight I break even.}

Today the Sea Eagles and Tigers faceoff ^{(with the latter hoping to claw their way up the list of the #NRLbottomSIX)} - the Roosters should pluck the Titans and then the Cowboys should annihilate the Knights.

I've heard people were getting five to one an hour before kick-off in favour of the Broncos (and putting hefty wagers on them to win too)

I think the Broncos have been holding back this season as evidenced by their emphatic win over the Rabbitohs who just kept fumbling the ball.

It's definitely a glitch that didn't occur when BPIP was first created.

It's also misleading.

Some of the lower ladder teams managed to pull the proverbial rabbit out of the hat over the week-end, however, as we saw with the 50 - 2 annihilation of the Knights by the Storm (with something like thirty points piled on in the last twenty minutes) there is still a compelling argument to seriously consider #NRLrelegation of the #NRLbottomSIX in any given year.

Five of the bottom six after eight rounds have won just two games a piece, so it's hard to say one or another are worse or better than any other of that five.  The Newcastle Knights have now slumped into sixteenth place a are vieing for the #NRLWoodenSpoon and #NRLrelegation

To be honest, I have no idea, but I'm pushing it on Twitter and will see over the next few weeks/months what sort of interest it gets.  Something needs to be done about the one sided game play.


That was a very nail bighting finish and could well have gone either way.  Fortunately, my money was on the Warriors, but it shows the two teams are about even and their positions in the #NRLbottomSIX confirms that.


The Cowboys were 15 - 04 with about fifteen minutes left to play then poured on twenty unanswered points.  The Eels just gave up.


I'm now three wins from six outings, so I've taken a hammering as well.

IN a little under five hours the Auckland Warriors will take on the Canberra Raiders - the Auckland team will *probably* win, but after their sixty point loss to Melbourne I'm beginning to lean back the other way and think Canberra might be in with a chance even though both teams are in the #NRLbottomSIX .

This week, there were noises made to move the NRL grand final to venues other than in Sydney where it has been since the New South Wales NRL became the National competition.

Overnight, the New South Wales State based teams were instantly promoted to become "national" teams and a consortium banded together to parachute first the Broncos, Storm Titans and Cowboys and Warriors into the National competition.  None of these team existed before they made their way into the competition.

When the National NRL was formed, the Queensland Cup became something of an overnight irrelevance where it was once a major social event in Queensland's calender.

With #NRLrelegation, lacklusture teams would have one eye on being dumped from the highest game back to the various State Cups.

To my way of thinking, being in the bottom six would be almost guaranteed relegation with the wooden spooners a guaranteed dumping.  The winner of the State Cup would then be promoted to the National competition.

Of the bottom six, I would relegate the wooden spooners as well as one state team which would mean (as the ladder stands at the moment) the Bulldogs and Raiders would be dumped and two NSW Cup teams would be promoted to take their place.

Auckland would go home (and probably dissolve given it was a manufactured team).

Likewise the Titans would probably fold and like the Auckland side, their players would then want to be parachuted into the National teams - which would mean there would have to be a provision preventing players who have been relegated from then moving sideways into other teams.  Relegation means the team AND it's players are relegated for twelve months.  Ironically, the Dolphins (an actual state based team) are waiting in the wings and could replace the dumped Titans.

The Bulldogs would return to playing in New South Wales (as would Canberra I would imagine being an island in a sea of blue). 

Were relegation to occur, you couldn't have an identical named team playing at state and national levels otherwise you then have the headache of do the dumped national players get absorbed into the state based team?  Do the state based players then get dumped through no fault of their own?

If you look at the history of the South Sydney Rabbitohs https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Sydney_Rabbitohs They had a forty-three year gap between Premiership wins from 1971 and 2014 - how many years would they have been relegated I wonder?  And would Russell Crow have funded seeding the team with star players that enabled them to win in 2014 had they been relegated I wonder?

There's a "bigger picture" that I think you may be overlooking...

Something else?

These brand new / newbies / Jr Members haven't proven themselves in the forum by earning merits the hard way with quality posts, rather, they are posting dubious investigations in the hope of scoring a quick fix of merits.  (some campaigns need as little as five merits in the last 120 days to qualify for participation - earning five through shitty investigations is a gold pass into multiple alts claiming from the same campaign).

At half time, the Titans led 4 - 0 against the Panthers (during half time the price of the Panther's blew up but I wasn't able to get online quick enough when the prices flipped 10+ for the Panthers and 1.09 for the Titans.  By the 70th minute, the price had returned to favour the Panthers ^{(should have put more on the game )} - In the end I'm happy to pick up the small win.

Next week I've locked in the Rabbitohs to win over the Broncos.  The game should be on par with tonight's block buster Rabbitohs Vs Sea Eagles game.  The Sea Eagles lost a player in the ninth minute for a dangerous tackle/throw and had some good playing over the 80 minutes.  The first half really seemed to last a long time, but that was how exciting the game plays were, not a lack of play if that makes sense?  In the end on Full time, the Rabbitohs scored (but didn't convert) to win 40 -22 .

Also next week, the Sea Eagles play the Easts Tigers.  For the moment, I'd like to say my monies on the Sea Eagles, however, I'm going to hold off till Monday or Tuesday before I decide.

You could probably argue the Broncos saw my tweet and reacted by holding the Sharks out of the water, however, given the number of errors the Sharks made in the first twenty minutes before they scored, I doubt that.

The game advanced 6 - 7 to the Sharks in the last five minutes of the first half then during the break they must have been told to dial back the errors - the only trouble with that was they then failed to score and allowed the Broncos the advance to 16 - 7 with ten minutes play left.  In the last few minutes, the Sharks suffered a fatal blow when a try was disallowed and so they lost.

It was 1986 (apparently) the last time an NRL game finished with a score of 16 -7 (back when NRL stood for NSW Rugby League - and that's the problem even now:  The NRL is still a new South Wales-centric league...)

I'm now at six from seven bets with two games still to play.

This afternoon, the Eels walked all over the Knights to win 39 - 2 while in the first ten minutes of the Panthers Vs Raiders game it was tied at 6 - 6 however, the Raiders then went to the pub to watch the game and the panthers ended up winning 36 - 6.

The price for Wests Tigers has dropped considerably 2.27 against the Dragons 1.6 in the clash next week.  If the Dragons are plucked by the Roosters tomorrow, then it might be worth betting on the Tigers next week.

(Given PNG are competing at the Queensland State Level, were they to win the Cup, I'd have no hesitation in promoting them to the NRL for nexxt year and relegating one of the Queensland teams, probably the Titans back to the State comp until such time as they win at the State level again.

I was placing the bests for this week (about an hour prior to the Tigers game starting last week) and saw their price has blown out to 10+ so I started thinking after five weeks of losses they might just be hungry enough for a win.  At the same time I saw this weeks price for a Tigers win was around five, so I clicked on the two wagers to make a parlay to see what the price would be, then wondered could they win back to back?

So I placed the minimum amount on a parlay ... and it WON!



I heard most of tonight's game on the radio and the last ten minutes was thriller - five attempts at a field goal (four by the Tigers, one by the Rabbitohs) with the last of five attempts scoring one point with thirty seconds to go, then the Tigers got possession of the ball.  Game Over.  I win.
