About your channels, you should probably try to check the closing TxID, if you already have one and check it with a block explorer!

Zap doesn't provide that information otherwise I would have used the accelerator services (free ones) to accelerate the TX.

Each time I close Zap and restart it, the two channels revert to open, not closing so it doesn't appear as though a true closure has occurred.

Thanks for the channel links suggestion, I'll check them out.

Hillary Clinton has served for two terms

Incorrect.

William Jefferson (Bill) Clinton served two terms.  His wife's name is Hillary. His former mistresses name was Monica Lewinsky.
743  Economy / Lending / Re: I need a BTC expert to send BTC to my app members... for money of course on: May 08, 2023, 09:14:16 AM
Far from it, people are trying to work out which sub section best fits your request.

If transaction fees are the issue, then it looks as though you have your answer to raise your TX fees.

If you need more Bitcoin, by your own admission, you already have Bitcoin so you know how to purchase more. Others have made suggestions how to trade (try out the currency exchange section - just not Pay Pal which is frowned upon).

Is it sponsorship you need? Reach out to the various campaign managers.

If there are no other issues to be clarified, then you can lock the thread at bottom left.

I am not arguing whether it's the correct or incorrect use of feedback.

That might be because you have already stated your opposition ?

. Oh, I just found it was Timelord2067 who tagged some newbies for asking for no collateral loans.

For Instance, It looks like this is not the correct use of the feedback system

Can I send you a PM, please?

I think the Eels are now in a rut whereas the Titans had a slump. This year has had many surprises with the Dolphins shaking things up.

I'm not surprised the Dolphins won. (Now six wins and four losses) the Broncos are eight and two with a long way to go before September.

The Tigers likewise had a morale booster with their win last week against the Grand finalist Panthers and now this week's win. Very reminiscent of last year they won two in a row after six or seven losses.

The dragons are now 2501:1 to win the minor premiership compared to the Tigers 1000:1

Then again if multiple uploaders have uploaded the *exact* same file, then perhaps a file is automatically prevented from being deleted?

I can do that, but the check is always based on the name. So it's hard to say that name is really from the same image.

Imagine that you have the file "2023.jpg" and another user has another image with the same name. For the system, they were the same images, when in reality they are not.

In turn, the system will rename all files, which will prevent the image from being deleted by someone else who does not have the specific link to the image.

Programs such as FreeCommander create a checksum of the image so it doesn't matter what it's been renamed to (from recollection it can identify if an image has been resized).  Bing.com search will find the same image - even when text etc has been added.  I think duckduckgo.com and google.com do as well but I don't use either much.  Have a search online for duplicate file detection.  Regardless of filename, an uploaded file can be cross checked by file size even prior to a checksum being taken in a matter of seconds.

What I was meaning was if multiple copies are uploaded, then the original uploader (as well as anyone that follows) looses their ability to delete an image.  (then again a user could just reupload all files as their own to lock images on the site)

Just a suggestion, thanks for reading.
751  Other / Meta / Re: TalkImg.com - Image hosting for BitcoinTalk on: May 05, 2023, 10:47:06 AM
I just had a file paused at 39% upload and then seemed to hang.  Eventually I reloaded the website and reuploaded which got me thing of duplicate file checking at upload.

My suggestion would be if a duplicate image were uploaded e.g. this one,

then the first uploader is provided the delete key, but the second, third etc uploaders only get shown the codes that are shown on e.g. this page: https://www.talkimg.com/image/aDCN

Then again if multiple uploaders have uploaded the *exact* same file, then perhaps a file is automatically prevented from being deleted?

In any event, duplicate file checking would reduce file storage sizes.

Have you seen this thread: TalkImg.com - Image hosting for BitcoinTalk it's a new image hosting site for imagery used on the forum (I've already used it here)

25 minutes in and the Broncos are pouring on the points:

The Canberra Raiders won the earlier match against the Bulldogs in a high scoring game 34 - 30.

It's the so called "Magic Round" - Round ten of the 2023 NRL Season kicks off in Brisbane tonight with all eight games being played at Lang Park here in Brisbane.

The Wests Tigers are even with the Dragons at $1.88 each (a far cry from last week when they paid out nearly $7)  Saint George are languishing near the bottom of the ladder, so I'm going with the Tigers who are riding high after their first win last week.

The only two "upsets" will be if the Warriors and Dolphins win their matches.  I feel confident they will.

Canterbury Bulldogs - Canberra Raiders 05 May 2023 18:00 Money Line Canberra Raiders @ 1.48 Taken Amount: 0.05 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.074 mBTC
Manly Sea Eagles - Brisbane Broncos 05 May 2023 20:05 Money Line Brisbane Broncos @ 1.25 Taken Amount: 0.05 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.063 mBTC

Melbourne Storm - South Sydney Rabbitohs 06 May 2023 19:45 Money Line South Sydney Rabbitohs @ 1.79 Taken Amount: 0.05 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.09 mBTC
Wests Tigers - St George/Illawarra Dragons 07 May 2023 13:50 Money Line Wests Tigers @ 1.88 Taken Amount: 0.05 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.094 mBTC
Sydney Roosters - North Queensland Cowboys 07 May 2023 16:00 Money Line Sydney Roosters @ 1.25 Taken Amount: 0.05 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.063 mBTC
Gold Coast Titans - Parramatta Eels 07 May 2023 18:25 Money Line Parramatta Eels @ 1.40 Taken Amount: 0.05 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.07 mBTC

I've also taken out an eight game parlay with the above combinations.

NEXT WEEK-END...

I'm getting in early with bets on the "underdogs of round eleven"

South Sydney Rabbitohs - Wests Tigers 13 May 2023 15:00 Money Line Wests Tigers @ 5.43 Taken Amount: 0.05 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.272 mBTC
Canberra Raiders - Parramatta Eels 13 May 2023 19:35 Money Line Canberra Raiders @ 2.37 Taken Amount: 0.05 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.119 mBTC
Melbourne Storm - Brisbane Broncos 11 May 2023 19:50 Money Line Brisbane Broncos @ 2.11 Taken Amount: 0.05 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.106 mBTC
Penrith Panthers - Sydney Roosters 12 May 2023 20:00 Money Line Sydney Roosters @ 2.46 Taken Amount: 0.05 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.123 mBTC

If the Tigers win this weekend then their price will drop considerably for next week-ends game against the Rabbitohs (who are firming as a solid top four finishers this year)

Over in Rugby Union, these are the series that are on offer over at nitrobetting.eu

I've hardly had time to stop and smell the flowers let alone study their form, so I'll have to leave my bets on Union games for this week.

I don't think that there is any lender in the lending board who is willing to lend to any newbie without a collateral

Newbies concoct all kinds of sob stories and invariably someone (usualy another unsuspecting newbie) will "lend" them funds only to have the borrower not return.

A newbie who lends just enough often enough could then progress to member ...etc and become Legendary then carpet pull / exit scam with the Jackpot such as walking away with privkeys, or worse still the bag of the Forum itself having gained trust wholly through taking out loans.

Along the way hardcore scammers just ask for loans and walk away with the lender's funds.  We've seen it happen all to often - check out the scam accusation threads if you don't believe me.
757  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The Lightning Network FAQ on: May 04, 2023, 08:15:38 PM
Hello again, my last two lightning channels on my Zap app won't close - even recently when the mempool was empty and I used the high fees setting. (Neither balance has shifted in a very long time)

One is with BC games, the other is coinplaza - I was just wondering is there anything I can do to force their closure outside of making contact with either site and asking them to close the channel at their end?

I'd like to revisit Lightning Network as I believe it is essential for micro payments, however a great many nodes are now hidden behind the onion curtain, so I'll either have to find an app that has an in built Tor connection setting, or find channels in the clear that will connect with small (sub $100) channels.

1ml.com website shows a great many nodes that are in the clear, but when I try to connect, the channels are closed immediately so I'm wasting my time at the moment establishing new channels hence I've been closing all I have.
758  Other / Meta / Re: TalkImg.com - Image hosting for BitcoinTalk on: May 04, 2023, 05:17:01 PM
I would like to have an account via TalkImg.com - how do I go about arranging this?

My suggestion is to add Delete button, if user decides to delete image himself for privacy or any other reasons.

Instead of a delete button, perhaps an "expires in XXX days/weeks/months/years etc" - or no delete.

The advantage of this is limiting image hosting used for auctions, sales or giveaways that are done in a matter of days or even weeks.  Those pages are not likely to be viewed in more than a few months time, so it won't matter if it comes up with an "image not found" notice.

Worst case scenario, disable new uploads, and keep existing images. But I hope to make sure that never happens. It all depends on community support.

I've just made a small donation - hope it helps.

If usage growth is large, I will certainly enlist the help of other users to help moderate and perhaps create a plan, in case something happens.

May I suggest two or three from four or five wallet holders?  (Safer to err on the side of caution from the outset)

Some other questions:

  • I use lightscreen - can your site be added in the app?
  • I've read others expressing concerns over the file size of the gallery over time becoming too huge to handle.  Can external sites such as drop box be integrated?  i.e. if a user has a dropbox/cloud account the images are backed up to their own dropbox and called on as needed (or seldom used images be ported to cloud style services while high volume images are kept on the talkimg site.
  • There was an issue with http Vs https for some images a year or two ago.  Anyone who changes the BBCode from http to https has their images restored, however there are a great deal of those images that haven't had their code fixed.  AFAIK there hasn't been a sweep done to identify those images with broken links.  In that context, can you see that kind of thing becoming an issue with your site?
  • When I right click "save as" an image posted on the BCT website all images have a generic ip.bitcointalk file name.  I see there is a link to the talkimg website for examples posted above, however, I was just wondering about an image that is used with a URL for a third party website - can the file name of the image be included?
  • These two images still haven't uploaded after thirty minutes many hours.

(It says upload complete, but nothing else has happened - no BBcode, nothing)
  • Donations:  A QR code for the wallet address might be handy.
  • For the sustainability of TalkImg's image hosting, there must be a donation button so that those who want to donate and support the website to continue to exist can donate directly via Bitcoin or other coins.

I'd really only suggest Lightning and maybe one or two others (ETH seems to have outrageously sky high TX fees, so I wouldn't recommend them)
  • Perhaps a separate thread walk-through on how to integrate TalkImg into any screen-grab style program? (e.g. the how to sign a message that scoured practically all wallet types available at that time)
  • Backups:  A monthly update with the most recent uploaded images would help in the event of a disaster e.g. date centre fire that wipes out countless terabytes of data in one foul swoop.  Perhaps these could be offered for down load, or sold with the proceeds being used to maintain the site in perpetuity?
  • FTP:  I haven't used FTP for many years, but from recollection, the protocol is only used for give/take - I don't think it would be useful as there would be no BBcode or delete token issued

I'm trying to find the original transparent version of this so I can have it hosted on your site (irony - hotlinked from archive.today )

Anyone translating the thread should forward the merits earned to the OP @joker_josue (i.e the one from two merits)

I'll spread the word amongst the Known Alts of any-one - A User Generated List Mk IV investigators.

Kudos.

As much as I'd like to see more restrictions for Newbies, I think theymos has a point:

Sometimes I find your response is predictable.

As do I.

The world not to mention scamming has changed a lot just in the last five years - given this thread is predominantly in favour of the restriction being implemented, then it should be responded to by whomever has the final say.
(we'll save the comments on the apparent transfer of ownership of the Forum for another day).

I would also add jr members as well as newbies being banned from posting in the lending section (and there would be a case to make for the currency exchange section being added to that list, too).
Why should restricting on currency exchange section? I don't see any reason about it, the old or high rank user can ask the newbie to send first or using an escrow. Just be careful if you exchange with PayPal and such which the payment could be revert.

PayPal is another area where scammers are preying on unsuspecting forum members yet neither the Admin/mods, LoyceV nor theymos seem interested in intervention to protect such forum members who have been scammed by their continued silence on the matter.

Too hard? Not really.  Just restrict access to newbies and Jr Members from those sections.
