14621  Economy / Speculation / Re: Investing in BTC, ETH , BCH or XRP on: November 07, 2017, 02:46:36 PM
So I am planning on putting 25,000 USD to Buy cryptocurrencies  to hold for long term. Is it a bad time to invest in those crypto-currencies?

if its right time, whats your suggestion ? Buy bitcoin / ethereum / Bitcoin Cash / Ripple ? mixed or just one? how much of each ?

is it good to wait until bitcoin fork ( 15 november ) or not ?

i remember the time i had 100 BTC and i sell them just 30,000 USD, i dont want to lose the next chance, so i need to invest

Surely you regret not kept these 100BTC and have value of 700 000+$ today, but it is never late for buying if you have time to wait few years to make some profit. If I'm at your place without thinking too much I would invest most of the money in BTC,let's say 70-80% and the rest in altcoins.

There is a possibility that there will be price correction after fork so for that reason it may be better to wait for the investment. But on the other hand if you buy before fork you will get same amount of new created coins and make some extra profit. If you decide on this move be sure to be in control of your private keys,or to keep your coins on exchange which will give you new coin after fork.
14622  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: I have been stolen 10 btc by fake scam electrum website on: November 07, 2017, 11:25:22 AM
Hi, I have been stolen the 10 bitcoins in my electrum wallet!!
Because I have used a fake application or malware that coming from electrumdesktop.org, and I think there is another fake scam website: electrumbitcoin.org

Please be careful, or we can find out those scam website publisher.

Also, I found an interesting thing here:
I've followed the thief's transaction flow. And finally found my balance has flowed into this three address:

https://blockchain.info/address/1N52wHoVR79PMDishab2XmRHsbekCdGquK
https://blockchain.info/address/12cgpFdJViXbwHbhrA3TuW1EGnL25Zqc3P
https://blockchain.info/address/17A16QmavnUfCW11DAApiJxp7ARnxN5pGX

They are all such a huge amount bitcoins address. Is that possible that they are exchange service account?
Is there any way to ask each exchange service to verify if those addresses belong to them? with the policeman's help

Thank you very much!

You download your Electrum wallet from fake site since the only legitimate site to download Electrum is : https://electrum.org

There are many fake sites who in this way cheating users and stealing their coins, and since you lost 10BTC I assume that their business is going great these days. Before any download of wallet things should be checked several times, any mistake can be costly paid.

You can try to report this to police since it is lot of money, they can try to find who is the owner of that site.Possibility to return your BTC is very small, but if you have the will, money and some luck there is a possibility.
14623  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: downgrade from 3.0.0 to 2.9.3 on: November 07, 2017, 09:41:48 AM
I have not a seed. I made an account with some imported keys.

So you have Electrum wallet but with no seed and you use only private keys.If you have your private keys now then is safe to download latest stable version 2.9.3 and import your private keys, you will not lose anything.Though it would be wiser to use Electrum with seed, and for that you need to send your BTC to that new created wallet with seed.

You should read about version 3.0.0 and that many have problems on all operating systems, especially on Windows 7.Until a stable version appears it is better to use 2.9.3.
14624  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-07] New French Restaurant in New York City Accepts Bitcoin, Ditches Vis on: November 07, 2017, 09:22:54 AM
Very interesting business approach with the non-acceptance of Visa and MasterCard which are generally accepted means of payment almost everywhere in the world. It is positive that this restaurant accepts BTC and actually sending a message that BTC is better then Visa&MasterCard.I check their web page and there is no mention of BTC as a means of payment. They say they accept only cash and American Express, but maybe they need to update their site.

14625  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Exporting then importing keys to new wallet but no seed? on: November 06, 2017, 02:15:36 PM
2$? i could pay that

but how to send to new electrum adress within my wallet? I think i cant, or i go to Recive tab in electrum, copy it then send to this adress and it will go to my new adress?

You want your BTC safe&secure but you but you do not want to pay some fee in order to get that.I say you again that you can not import private keys in Electrum and have such wallet seed protected.

Since you have private keys uninstall Electrum, then download new copy and create new wallet with seed. After that use option New/Restore and create new wallet with option "I have private keys".Then from that wallet you need to send your BTC to first created wallet(one with seed) and you need pay fee for that.Use option to set fee manually and set fee at will.
14626  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do we not change the name of the original Bitcoin? on: November 06, 2017, 10:25:17 AM
I think that change name of original BTC from BTC to anything else would be wrong and completely unnecessary. What people recognize as the only original is marked with BTC so there should not be too much confusion. It would be good that Bitcoin name was protected on some way so others can not use it today for some altcoins which are only more or less bad copies of BTC.But today's copies and those that will just come certainly create a some confusion, especially for those who encountered BTC for the first time.
14627  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Exporting then importing keys to new wallet but no seed? on: November 06, 2017, 10:06:45 AM
Hi, I want to secure my BTC before I import keys in coinomi to get free BTG, So I exported keys from electrum, then creating new wallet, All good but I sort off get wallet without seed?

When I import keys there is no seed, when i create standart wallet with seed there is no option to import key.

Can I import it and have new wallet with new seed and my btc?

Thanks

What you should do is to send your BTC from Electrum to another wallet, but not by importing private keys or seed. You can not import your private keys in Electrum wallet with seed, only thing you can do is to use option "New/Restore" and create new wallet like you do.

Only way you will get wallet protected with seed and your BTC in that wallet is to download new Electrum wallet and then send your coins to this wallet like normal transaction or using swap option.
14628  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: when should bitcoin hodlers start spending ? on: November 06, 2017, 09:52:05 AM
Why not spend it and hold it in same time,of course in a certain proportion.I will pay/buy some things if it can do it with BTC,but most of my coins waiting for the price to be much higher than this today. There is always a risk when it comes to BTC,hold or sell at some price it's always a question.

If you believe that BTC will go down to 0 and not have future then sell today and take profit-on the other side if you think 1 BTC can be worth 50 000-100 000 $ in next few years then it would be a stupid move to start to spend it today.
14629  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: bitcoadz.io (The Mighty Bitcoin Ad network) on: November 05, 2017, 05:52:48 PM
Hello,

Banners are loading very slow and these cause websites to load very slow, this is quite bad for user experience and I don't wanna remove Bitcoadz banners, please upgrade to better servers or do something to resolve this.

Yes we are looking in this issue. Its not server related issue we have add marketplace after it issue starts. We are looking for solution.and ads are loading slow just in peak time not all time.

This problems is exists for 5-6 days and is constantly happening on all faucets using this service. It's really irritating open any faucet which using this service and not resolving this problem for such long time is very unprofessional. These things need to be settled quickly and efficiently, this way you just make bad publicity for your service.
14630  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitwala - Pay Your Bills With Bitcoin in Europe on: November 05, 2017, 05:24:20 PM
Thanks for the detailed explanation, there is a saying that there are two things in life of which there is no escape-death and tax.It is better to pay the tax immediately,in case tax office discover us after few years we pay taxes and interest.

I know about the EU decision for card limits, it would make sense for unverified cards to have limit 200€ per month, but for lifitime really does not make any sense. In this way EU simply wants all users of such services to be verified.

Hi Lucius,

Yes, this is the case. The EU is working hard to crack down on any and all movements of funds where the users have not been verified.

Best regards,

Robert @Bitwala

Would it change if you moved your company to gibraltar where the providing bank is? I've heard that they are pretty tolerable about it. I think you would get alot of customers too if you could provide such a nice service without an ID.

Nice services without ID are usually interesting for people that don't want to play by rules.
Thanks that Bitwala is from another team  Wink

I want to play by the rules but I need to know what are the rules. If you think playing by the rules is to pay 50%+ of your hard earnings to some government full of criminals then I do not want to play by rules and pay tax on my BTC.Living in some normal countries where tax is normal and BTC is not some bad thing is very nice, for some others using such service with ID may be very expensive in terms of tax.
14631  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: FaucetHUB.io || +Microwallet (9 coins) ||+Dice & +Jackpot||+Games||+Exchange on: November 05, 2017, 04:23:31 PM
Since most of users have big problems with reCaptcha in last few days and it is almost impossible to claim on faucets who use this idiotic captcha is there any chance to FaucetHub notify/advise faucet owners to remove/replace that captcha?

I try to send e-mails and PM some members on FH chat but without success.I know it is very nice to get traffic and make profit but in same time pay every tenth user, but users are not stupid and they will stop to visit such faucets.I hope something will change regarding this, this high BTC price in combination with reCaptcha is killing faucets.
14632  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: November 05, 2017, 03:23:02 PM
Like every week I share some % of earnings with my referrals but today something is wrong in that system.Referral commission earned and Shared with your referrals become mixed, and amount shared with referrals is always 0.Strange thing I notice for some time and should be fixed.

Since reCaptcha is become a real enemy of faucets I do not understand why faucets use it and why FreeBitco at least not allow second choice captcha like was it before. If user can not solve captcha and claim reward he will not come back again-less traffic-less profit-closing faucet.I hope owner make some changes regarding this.
14633  Other / MultiBit / Re: Another recovery issue on: November 05, 2017, 12:01:19 PM
Hello!

So, I have my wallet words from Multibit HD. I am unable to log in with my password, when I try to recover my password with the built in recovery it doesn't work (I've waited an hour).
I have the 'rolling-backup' folder with files in it. Though a wallet recovery doesn't work (It says that it creates the wallet, then it failed to create the wallet'.
Tried reinstalling , downgrading.. I also have the .wallet.aes file. Though I cannot get the 4 recovery tools listed on some of these posts to work. (Obviously followed the instructions and the python scripts do nothing)

Is it possible for me to transfer my wallet with just the words?

There is no support for MultiBit and you should stop using it.Since you have your seed words the simplest solution is to download Electrum wallet(maybe not latest 3.0 version because there are some problems) and then just do the following steps :

1.In Electrum go to File - New/Restore - click next(you can change name of the wallet)
2.Use option standard wallet
3.Use option "I already have a seed"
4.Enter your seed words.
5.After that click on Options and pick Bip 39 seed.
6.For derivation path type : m/0'
7.Select new password for your wallet.
14634  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-05] Goldman Sachs CEO: Bitcoin Can't Be Dismissed on: November 05, 2017, 11:34:48 AM
It seems that the biggest critics starts to change their thoughts regarding BTC,although they perform very cautiously something is changing and I bet they smelled profit.Banks exist to make money and when they see that things are slowly getting out of control and that BTC can disrupt their business they looking for a way to take their piece of the pie. With today price of 7500$ per BTC and very promising future I think any great player will not stay on the sidelines.
14635  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Unsecured WiFi on: November 05, 2017, 11:19:55 AM
Using of public WiFi is certainly a risk and it should be avoided when we use any service which can expose our user data.Public WiFi is very often exposed to Evil Twin attack in which hacker clone original access point and users then are connected on that AP instead of the original.Hacker then can see all user traffic and perform attack.I think that in any case the risk should be avoided, and never keep your seed/private keys on PC no matter how you connect to the internet.

First, a little bit of background.

In 2012, Dorit Ron and Adi Shamir published a paper analyzing the Bitcoin transaction graph, in an attempt to understand how much could be determined about the largest BTC holders, just from the publicly available info.

They concluded, among other things, that there were a dozen or so "entities" who - even in 2012 - were holding several hundred thousand BTC each:

Last night, I dreamt that I checked BitcoinCharts on my phone, only to see that someone had dumped a huge number of BTC onto the exchanges, causing the price to crash to about $2.

As you can see from the above chart, this is not an impossible situation. The whole order book of the big exchanges is "only" about 200,000 BTC deep. If one of these Entities were to rediscover a lost wallet... or if the price were to reach their "exit price" that they'd decided upon long ago... it's easy to imagine that "get all of my money out before anyone can react" would become more important for them than getting the absolute best price for it.

So my question here is... if this were to happen, what would happen next? Would the price bounce back, bolstered by confidence that this sort of holder was less likely to still be lurking around? Or would people get scared, and try to sell off their own BTC too? How would miners act? How would exchanges act? Et cetera.

This is a very interesting question and I'm sure many have been thinking about it.I think it's possible that something like that happens, because people sometimes do not think too much logical. As others say,it is not hard to sell at once some big amount of BTC,but I think it would attract too much attention. However in the event that something like this happens, price will go down very fast and there will be panic selling and after some time the market would start to recover.

Personally I would not want to something like this happens, but we should always be prepared to all possible situations.
14637  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is Booming!...What's your TARGET? on: November 04, 2017, 04:18:26 PM
My target is at 100 000 $,all below is tempting but my opinion is that it would really be a shame to sell below this price. Some may say that I'll be a long wait up to that point, but considering the current situation it is not impossible for this to happen in the next 5-10 years. What is important that when you sell your coins there will not be a chance to buy them again at that price or lower.Holding is best way to make profit on safe way these days, just be smart and do not sell cheap.
14638  Economy / Economics / Re: Can Amazon Integrate Bitcoin? on: November 04, 2017, 09:52:56 AM
All big companies including Amazon certainly have an interest in BTC and even more for blockchain.Any serious company who want to make progress must accept new technologies if they want to be competitive in the market. The key is that this needs to be achieved before the competition,it's always good to be first in something. In case Amazon accepts BTC as a means of payment it would mean a lot for all those who support BTC and its greater use in the world. This would certainly affect the even greater popularity and would encourage others to accept BTC.
14639  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum wallet keeps on "synchronizing" on: November 04, 2017, 09:26:22 AM
Hi,

Since about 24 hours my Electrum wallets keeps on synchronizing whenever I open it. I have rebooted my laptop several times, tried to access with and without VPN, restarted router. Did everything I could but I keep having this problem.
I never had this before and I have been using Electrum already 2 years.

I received a payment 2 days ago but I cannot see the amount of it. It keeps showing "unverified" and zero as amount even though I know for sure it will not be zero.

Any ideas how to fix this?

The problem is most likely in server your Electrum wallet is connected,so in order to change server just click on red dot in right corner and uncheck automatic connection and select some other server from available list. After that your wallet should be sync very quickly and problem should disappear.
14640  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To Greed or to play it safe. on: November 04, 2017, 09:18:57 AM
If you ask me always is better and smarter to play safely and at all costs avoid the risk or reduce it to the maximum extent possible. There is nothing safer than to have complete control over your private keys,I personally do not believe in any online service so neither to Coinbase.I would still keep my BTC in Electrum and wait that hard fork is finished and for official wallet for new coin.In that case there is some work to be done in order to claim new coin,so I understand that keeping coins on online wallet may be a much easier way.The risk is sometimes worthwhile, yet it is the decision of each individual.
