14662  Economy / Lending / Re: Need a loan 0.2 BTC on: November 08, 2014, 03:58:24 PM
Hi all im looking for a 0.2 BTC loan for around 2 weeks. Shot me a comment over. I will use the loan to purchase and stake Snowballs, a 5000% PoS coin.
Can you offer any collateral?
14663  Other / New forum software / Re: Support minutes in local time? on: November 08, 2014, 03:24:36 PM
Hello! There is option to convert server time to local time. But only hours can be added/deducted, so an option to add/deduct minutes will be helpful. Otherwise, persons like me have to add/deduct ~30 minutes from the time shown in the forum after changing time. Roll Eyes So please add it. Smiley

  ~~MZ~~
This is possible now (although you will need to adjust twice a year if daylight savings time affects you).

Go to profile -> Look and Layout Preferences -> time offset -> enter the number of hours difference of between your current local time and the forum time.
14664  Economy / Lending / Re: Loan requested for additional bot funding have collateral and will use escrow. on: November 08, 2014, 02:37:43 PM
That sounds fair to me. Do you have a preference as to who you would prefer to use as escrow?

Sorry but I ended up going with marcotheminer and we are trying to get devthedev to escrow for us. He was the first to post and messaged me early this morning.  I apologize for any inconvenience.
No problem. If you don't mind please keep this thread updated, I am curious to see how a loan of this size works out.

Do you still need this? I can do this provided that you receive a margin call when the BTC value of the LTC reaches 107% and the escrow will will liquidate the collateral when the BTC value reaches 103% of the loan amount.

There are a number of reputable escrow services that are available and I am willing to use any reputable escrow service on this forum.
14667  Economy / Services / Re: How do you refund your BitCoin/LiteCoin? My Escrow Service for LiteCoin, BitCoin on: November 08, 2014, 04:40:42 AM
Lmao this cracked me up, great work op
as bad as his english is, I think he is trying to say that he will do multisig escrow
You still need to trust the third party escrow service if you are using multisig; the escrow could simply collude with your counterparty to have a TX sent to them (or the escrow could just be an alt of the person you are trading with).

Also I am confused by the title; what is the point of the question "How do you refund your BitCoin/LiteCoin?" (the "c" in coin should also not be canalized in either bitcoin nor litecoin)
14668  Other / Meta / Re: Tecshare Maliciously Abused The BitcoinTalk Trust System on: November 08, 2014, 04:14:03 AM
Good for you, now we just need CanaryInTheMine to weigh in so this can be resolved. I'm curious to see what he thinks.
This technically no longer matters due to recent improvements in the trust system. All that would need to happen is one additional person on the "root" level of default trust to exclude TECSHARE for the matter to be more or less resolved.
14669  Other / Meta / Re: Trust improvements on: November 08, 2014, 04:11:57 AM
There actually appears to be a fourth improvement: trust you leave no longer will default to 'positive' trust when leaving feedback, a user now must actively choose what kind of trust they want to take. This will prevent someone from accidentally leaving positive feedback when negative was intended while forgetting to check the box that says "negative"
14670  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: Selling bitcointalk accounts on: November 07, 2014, 11:00:59 PM

you didn't use escrow? For some reason I don't think you will get your account
14671  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SilkRoad 2 Taken down by Feds on: November 07, 2014, 02:43:07 PM
he was making 400k+ per month. If you were making that much money you are going to want to live in the US to be able to enjoy luxuries that can be purchased in the US (or places that are friendly to the U.S. as places that are not friendly tend to be third world like countries).

I do agree that he made horrible mistakes - it was almost self sabotage

Even that kind of money wouldn't be worth it for me. Money is worthless if you can't spend it as he's likely going to be in jail for the rest of his life. I really can't imagine the stress of the paranoia I'd be under operating such a site, but if I did I wouldn't be dumb enough to log in from my home computer even through tor.
well yes the EV of running this kind of site appears to be negative as the risk of jail seems to be close to 100%. But if you do take the risk you want to spend your money while you have your freedom.
14672  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SilkRoad 2 Taken down by Feds on: November 07, 2014, 02:41:28 PM
Why did he not learn from his buddy "DPR" that you just can't get away with this in the US!?! He was even busted in the same damn city!!!  Huh WTF!!!
If I remember right BTC went from around $130 to around $70 within a week of the last bust but there are more and even better markets now. People will just migrate.

Maybe they knew each other? I think if you are going to run one of these sites the bare minimum you need to do is locate yourself in a country that isn't on co-operative terms with the US.

Other countries are available Cheesy. I'd rather live like a king in Cuba or something than live in fear in the US. I suppose it's also possible to run one of these sites from the US, but only if you're completely certain you've covered all your tracks, though I personally wouldn't like to take the risk.
living in places like Cuba means that you have other risks like questionable health care if you get sick and law enforcement who are corrupt who may get paid to steal from you or arrest you for questionable reasons. Plus Cuba specifically is on the short list of countries that the US may invade so you would still be at risk (plus other countries the U.S. is not friendly with also faces this risk)

14674  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dear Would Be Drug Marketplace Operators on: November 06, 2014, 07:37:30 PM
FBI is certainly stepping up enforcement efforts. The oldest dark net market "farmer's market", used paypal, and they weren't caught for over 2 years (surprise surprise, they were caught simply by paypal disclosing their contact info to FBI). This was before Bitcoin was available.

FBI is increasingly getting good at busting TOR sites.
there have been a number of attacks by not-so-honest tor exit nodes as of recently. I would say this is likely related.

Almost all of the deep web’s major drug marketplaces are currently offline, raising the possibility that the FBI has caused severe disruption to the online drug trade. Agora, Alpaca, BlueSky, C9, Hyrda, Pandora, and the Silk Road are all currently offline.

Damn, is that true? Are they all down as well?

appearently several of the illegal dark net sites were all taken down around the same time. Law enforcement is claiming to be running an operation to take down several darknet sites in the next 24 hours

Silkroad 1 closed, bitcoin price skyrocketed and saw ATH, now Silkroad 2 close, I can't imagine Smiley
the price skyrocketed because people found out that you can buy illegal drugs using Bitcoin in a safe manor.

*still locked out*
Theymos claims that the Email system is working just fine and that the problem is on my end...
Despite the fact that I have two accounts, one using hotmail.com the other using live.ca and the Live.ca CANNOT RECIEVE THE EMAIL FFS

It N-E-V-E-R shows up, there is N-O-T-H-I-N-G that appears, the system IS NOT WORKING for my renamed account *facedesk*
I'd really like to regain acess to my account, but theymos insists that the issue is on my end
Check your spam folder. It is known that forum emails tend to always get caught by spam filters. If that doesn't work then try to list the forum as a safe domain in your email settings
14678  Other / Meta / Re: Tecshare Maliciously Abused The BitcoinTalk Trust System on: November 06, 2014, 05:23:30 AM
This has nothing to do with risk. He could choose to continue to try to harass me, and I could leave negative feedback again. It is the principal of the matter. He shouldn't have been doing what he was doing in the first place. He was provided many opportunities to leave or diffuse the situation, instead every step of the way he chose to escalate. I have already taken several steps to deescalate this situation. He has taken none.

I feel I have zero obligations to compromise with him in any way, especially since he has demonstrated he is unwilling to do so when offered. Instead he opted to dictate to me what he wants done. He has no leverage at this point. Regardless of this I am again stating I am open to deleting his feedback if he removes his posts in my op, locks this thread, and deletes me from his signature. He can learn to act like an adult or live with my feedback. Its his choice.
While I do agree with your logic, I do think my advice would result in a quick resolution to the matter. If that is not a priority for you then you really have no incentive to compromise.

I, like you, have a very big ego, probably to the point that it is a flaw. I will personally spend hours at work arguing that I am right, only to be overruled, and told that I am wrong but I will not be held accountable, only for me to say that I still think I am right and that I will decline such leitancy if I am not right.

I bring this up because I think you have a lot more to lose then he does. He can simply create (or buy) a new account to conduct trades on while you cannot (your account protects you from scams while a purchased account does not, his account does not protect him from  scams - you are protected from scams because you have the pleasure of being able to get your counter-party to send first so you can make sure you are not being scammed). Although both you and Vod have a large amount of positive trust, it appears that you conduct a lot more business on here then he does (he can correct me if I am wrong), so you should have very different points of views on your own trust/reputation.
14679  Economy / Services / Re: PB Mining Signature Campaign! ***CLOSED!**** on: November 06, 2014, 05:01:18 AM
This looks like it will be a nightmare to check for the 50 posts, not including posts in this thread. Some could be short just for including the posts here, then what will happen? I await to see people paid out, and I wonder what results this campaign gave.

Almost everyone has exactly enough, which goes to show how many of these are not normal accounts.  We will be paying out as promised for everyone, however this type of marketing is saturated by empty accounts who only become active when it's time to post their bare minimum.  Only a small handful of users actually look like real posters.  The rest of them post 3 word sentences in random threads until they reach their 50 post count.  We won't be coming back here for another campaign --  It was a tough lesson for us.

Payouts will happen within the next 48 hours.

It was probably a bad idea to pay everyone exactly the same as you did. It would have been a much better idea to pay members/full members less then seniors/hero/legendary accounts.

I also would have enforced a rule that would only count "constructive" posts which would weed out the "3 word sentence" posts.

If you are only going to pay for 50 posts then that is what you should expect to receive. Over longer periods you would likely receive higher quality posters (while you deny payment to the spammers).

It probably would have also been more efficient to employ someone to run your campaign (and put funds in escrow for payouts) to monitor for spam-like posts (like your 3 word sentence example) to handle signups and payouts. This would allow you to avoid the negative feedback associated with denying payments to people who are spamming to 50 posts, while still getting the positives of having cheaper/more efficient advertising then advertising via forum ads (which are very expensive)
14680  Other / Meta / Re: Tecshare Maliciously Abused The BitcoinTalk Trust System on: November 06, 2014, 03:56:03 AM
Like I said he is especially in the wrong as to how he is acting after you gave him the negative trust. (I think he was also in the wrong after he made two or three posts in your gift card thread). Also correct me if I am wrong but all of those posts were made after he received negative trust from you.

If you really want this resolved then I would suggest that you remove your negative trust for 24 hours, and both post here and PM him that his negative trust will stay removed in the event that he either removes his posts or edits his posts so they more accurately reflect facts and give nothing more then constructive criticism. If he complies then you don't bother him again and he doesn't bother you again; if he does not then you can add your negative trust back on his profile; if he removes the posts and then you put the negative trust back on then he adds the posts back to your threads; if he deletes the posts then adds them later then you put the negative trust back on his profile.

You are both essentially trading with "paypal" so neither one of you risks anything by "going first". I understand that you trust rating means that you pretty much never need to "send first" when trading with others and as a result you have very little risk of ever getting scammed, however your risk in this situation really is very low.

I know this is unsolicited advice, and you can take it or not, but that is how I would handle this kind of situation if I were you.
