HIS cards are literally falling apart while they are running  Grin Grin Grin

Anyone else having GPU fans failing spectacularly?

Sewing machine oil and a syringe does wonders for fans.

I think it's too late to try oiling this one...  Grin
1482  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Clarifications on the difficulty on: January 23, 2018, 06:07:18 PM
Many pools set the difficulty for each share (portion of a block) based on your hashrate so your faster card is getting more difficult (ie, larger/more valuable) shares to mine.

2.2 MH/s on the network but only 36.5 kH/s on the official US pool? Where my 'murican peeps at?

1484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: hsrminer - Nvidia mining software for various algos by palgin&alexkap on: January 23, 2018, 02:56:17 PM
So has anyone bench-marked the pool results of HSR vs KlausT recently?

My miner-speeds are within 100-150 k/h (HSR being faster) - but is it real, is my biggest question.
...

Before I got my o/c problems sorted out I would say that hsrminer overestimated its hashrate, let's say... but now the pool and hsrminer are in good agreement at ~1220 for a single GTX 1080; that's almost 200 more than I got with ccminer-KlausT.

1485  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Been mining for a month and.. on: January 23, 2018, 02:53:04 PM
Same thing happened to me with Nanopool, except I didn't put up with their low payouts for an entire month...

I don't mine Ethereum, but I have mined two other Ethash coins - MUSIC and UBQ - and I really like Pool.Sexy for both.

Oh, and you are missing out on at least 5 MH/s per 570 by not doing the BIOS mod.

If you do the calculations (unless I am doing it wrong) MUSIC and UBQ are currently still not as profitable as eth.  Are you seeing something differently?

By the time you wrote that the profitability was outdated  Grin

That said, I don't chase profitability too slavishly; I like to mine coins where difficulty is low relative to price (a subjective call, I'll admit) and that I think have reasonable prospects. I started mining UBQ when it was $1.77US then stopped when it hit $4.00; started MUSIC when it was $0.04 then stopped when it hit $0.10, then started again just yesterday and will probably keep mining it until I hit my next round 1000 in quantity.

But I consider both coins more speculative - along with TZC (Neoscrypt) and DERO (Cryptonight) - to actually bring in some income I have been mining ZEN on luckpool for several weeks now (and just got a 6x GTX 1060 rig up and running specifically for it).

what happened to dero.tech pool? Block Found: 3 days ago

A lot of new pools have sprung up over the last couple of weeks and the official pool upgraded its software making it a much more attractive option (as long as your ping times are low, anyway).

As I try to run it suprnova in zen cash it gives me "the code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140.ddl was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.... I am running win 10. Thank you and sorry for the trouble

Did you even do a google search on the missing dll (not ddl)? If you had you would have learned that it is component of the Visual C++ runtime library which can be downloaded from here:

1489  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining room Cooling on: January 23, 2018, 11:43:35 AM
Lots of clever engineering ideas. Wouldn’t a 24” fan blowing on each rig not only solve the air issues but also be easier?

No, and the reasons why have been covered in many of the above posts. You need to get the heat out of the room, not just out of the cards.

1490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: hsrminer - Nvidia mining software for various algos by palgin&alexkap on: January 23, 2018, 11:31:59 AM
Welp, that didn't work... Exactly 1 hour after restarting at a lower o/c the hashrate dropped to ~1150 (instead of ~1170).

I've just started poking around in event viewer but haven't found anything yet on driver crashes. Not sure where to look, actually, but I'll figure it out eventually... I'm sure.

EDIT - actually, backing off the o/c may, indeed, have worked. I decided to reboot the machine and try +125/+300 again and it has been running fairly steady at 1220 kH/s for 6 hours now. I never did find the gpu driver crash in the logs, but that isn't saying much.

If that didn't do the trick, you could try the opposite, i.e. reapplying o/c every few minutes.
Using nvidiainspector, I have a little script that runs in the background. It's got a 10min timer loop, and reapplies overclocks everytime it restarts. This way, if one card drops off for whatever reason, this both helps reviving it and makes sure overclocks are always current.

Happy to share it later tonight if you're interested.

I don't want to jinx myself here, but hashrate has been holding steady at 1220 for over 24 hours now, and the pool mostly agrees based on the coins earned vs. average difficulty for the past 24 hours.

So I don't think I'll need your script, but I am interested in seeing it because it sounds really useful and I don't have much experience with powershell scripting (I do have some remnant knowledge of optimizing config.sys and autoexec.bat, however... which probably gives away my age...  Tongue )

1491  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: DERO: Privacy + Smart Contracts + Lightning Fast Transactions on: January 23, 2018, 10:23:54 AM
Xmr-stak do drop connection with pools, when pools do not provide work or reply during 5 minutes. So when xmr-stak looks for share longer than 5 minutes, and pool during that time does not provide new job - xmr-stak disconnects.

Possible solution for miner is to use static-diff with lower target time, 30 seconds for example. See static diff calculator.

Yeah, I know about setting fixed difficulty - I was one of the first here to bitch about vardiff going nuts (shooting up to 100001 after a few minutes of mining... with a CPU).

But the problem you describe isn't the result of not having any shares accepted in 5 minutes, rather, it is from not receiving any new blocks to work on in >5 minutes... I occasionally see that with Claymore, too, even though the default reconnect time for it is 15 minutes (which seems reasonable).

PS: working atm.
Care to explain "address.diff+worker" ?
SHould I use
literally,
" -o stratum+tcp://pool.dero.live:3333 -u YOUR_WALLET_ADDRESS.Diff+MyWorker -p x" ??

That is correct!

Anyone have an update on recent Onda D250 boards from Sidonia? She told me earlier this month that they had the v1 boards in stock  and I made an order for them. Now she is saying there is shortage on the PCB material and the production will be delayed, which were supposed to be in stock in the first place. First order from Alibaba and getting jittery at this point...

Shortage on PCB material? I call bullshit as that would be like a shortage of cement for building houses (can it happen - theoretically, yes - but it's bloody unlikely).

Is this coin still minable woth a rx 580?

Your card should do 700 H/s - maybe a bit more

This card can give You over 900H/s with proper setup. There is a lot info about setup on forum section Mining Altcoins....

Yep, but YMMV depending on ye olde silicon lottery. Also, the skill level, as not everyone should be doing BIOS mods. I figured that if someone is asking whether or not they should mine a coin that they aren't compiling their own miners and flashing their AMD cards for fun and profit.

Is this coin still minable woth a rx 580?

Your card should do 700 H/s - maybe a bit more - which will bring in less than 3 DERO per day at the current difficulty. Given that the current price of DERO is $0.60US I would say this isn't the best use of your GPU. However, DERO - like other Cryptonight coins - can be mined with a CPU, and that makes a whole lot of sense even if you only get 1 DERO per day.

My Ryzen 5 1600 can do around 450 H/s after lots of tweaking to xmr-stak, or it can do 380 H/s with Claymore's CPU Miner v3.9 with no tweaking whatsoever. My older FX-8300 can do 325 H/s with xmr-stak, or around 290 H/s with Claymore.

So maybe don't use your GPU for this coin, but definitely use your CPU.
1496  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Vega 56 or Gtx 1080? on: January 22, 2018, 10:07:20 PM
Vega is outstanding at Cryptonight, very good at Ethash, and piss-poor at pretty much everything else. If you plan to do any Equihash, Neoscrypt or, especially, Lyra2v2 mining then get the 1080.
1497  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hard drive issue on: January 22, 2018, 07:21:43 PM
Liquid on electronics won't (usually) damage anything... until you turn the power back on, that is.

For a hail mary - that is, a real long shot - you can try rinsing with distilled or deionized water, then with 91% (or, even better, 99%) isopropyl alcohol - the latter is often sold as water remover for fuel - then leave it in a warm place with air blowing over it to dry; give it at least 24 hours. After all that try powering it up again.

Anyone else seeing occasional socket errors/disconnects on the official pool (pool.dero.live), or is it just me? Xmr-stak reconnects and keeps mining, but it's happened several times today so far and this hasn't been an issue for a couple weeks now.
that was with the nitro pool. When the 3333 port was connected to a powerful rig and a small static diff

That was a separate incident involving one joker, according to Speedie (the pool operator); what I was referring to are the connectivity issues that seemed to always strike in the middle of the night when I first started mining a couple weeks ago. There was also a rash of blockchain out of sync issues at that time, so it was impossible to tell for sure what the real problem was.

At any rate, it sounds like I am not alone in having connectivity issues today, but as I said before these aren't fatal/unrecoverable disconnects so I'm not too concerned.

So for example i have driveres for MSI,and after plug two more ASUS i can download drivers from ASUS website and install it?

No, the same Nvidia driver is used for all cards... as long as they are Nvidia, that is.
