1001  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: DERO BLOCKCHAIN: CryptoNote Privacy + Smart Contracts on: March 05, 2018, 05:18:39 PM
There's no way that this will actually deliver on its small contracts promise. All money put into this are bye bye.

Oh, crap - thanks for the warning! I'm sure you have my best interests at heart since you know me so well. Also, your argument appears to be well-reasoned and backed up by plenty of evidence...

...oh wait, not a single bit of that is true.  Roll Eyes

P.S - I think you meant, smart contracts, not small.

Zpool let's you mine a single algo, and let's you specify any coin for payout that they mine, but they don't let you actually mine that coin directly.

BTW - I've had good results on Zpool mining X17 and converting to XVG with payout directly to Bittrex.

Yeah - I'm being paid out on XVG, which is what I'm requesting to be paid out in.  I just am confused why it looks like I am also earning SHIELD coins.

Everything on the XVG front is great.  Shield, is confusing.

It's because on Zpool if you choose to mine, say, the X17 algo, then you could be mining any one of the coins that use the X17 algo at any given time; all of those coins then go to the exchange to get converted into the coin you chose for payout, which doesn't even need to use the same algo.

As @dragonmike has warned elsewhere, though, you are mining whatever coin is most profitable /right now/ but that coin may not be nearly as profitable when it finally matures and is sent to be exchanged... If you want to mine a single coin the best option by far is to just mine that coin; if you don't have any good ideas for what to mine and hate to see rigs sitting idle then use multi-algo, auto-convert pools like Zpool, Hash Refinery, etc.

Hey guys ... I'm mining some XVG on ZPOOL.  I am mining directy to BINANCE.

when i look at ZPOOL  at my last 50 earnings I'm being rewarded XVG (x17) and also Shield (x17).

It doesn't look like these Shield coins, show up in my payout though.

Can anyone help explain what these Shield coins are, and if they are coins I am acquiring?

Zpool let's you mine a single algo, and let's you specify any coin for payout that they mine, but they don't let you actually mine that coin directly.

I know many of you farmers use Nicehash because you have so many rigs and multiple addresses... Have you ever come across "Cuda error 719"? A buddy of mine using NH miner kept getting these on equihash and lyra2v2 lately... which is very annoying as it crashes the miner and results in the inevitable downtime.

I tried fix number 1 (Google) but I'm not getting much. Answers range from "lower your clocks" to "driver issue" over "Nicehash problem". For now he's just disabled equihash and lyra2v2 but that kinda sucks.

Just throwing it in here, as some of you might already have experienced it.

I have (2) GTX 1080 that I occasionally use on NH and have seen that Cuda 719 error before, too, but it was while running Neoscrypt. I had to actually lower the core clock by 100 - not reduce the O/C, but lower it from the stock setting - to make the problem go away. I can't say for sure this is cause and effect, but I haven't seen the problem since. Then again, payout from NH and other multi-algo miners declined so much over the last month I went back to mining single coins with all of my cards (and CPUs). Right now all of the Nvidia stuff is split between ZEN on Zhash.pro and ZEC on Flypool.

I am a miner with zero interest in airdrops or bounties, but if one of the primary goals of an airdrop is to generate positive buzz then disqualifying one-third of the participants - even if they did not follow all the rules precisely - has only generated a lot of very public expressions of anger. Pretty much the exact opposite of what was desired, eh?

Frankly, this makes the ITNS team look like a bunch of amateur-hour idiots, and the crypto graveyard is littered with the corpses of other projects that committed far less grave sins than pissing off their own cheerleaders (or willing prostitutes, take your pick).

exchange Huh

If you are asking for an update about listing on an exchange then that was literally given 3 posts before yours.

sorry master ...
I am a beginner and may not have many quality submissions .. but I have 1 that I think is pretty good ,,, please check

A quick check of your post history shows nothing but bounty submissions!?! This is exactly the kind of thing that the merit system is trying to reduce!

You may still require a complete blockchain resync. To do this please follow this guide: https://forum.dero.io/t/blockchain-synchronization-quick-fix-mar-4-2018-updated/190
...

I hope you get some sleep soon, but before you conk out please clarify if we have to delete data.mdb again (along with p2pstate.bin) and start over from scratch (ie - d/l the entire blockchain from the beginning) or if we can use the data.mdb snapshot from, e.g., Feb 27 (or even our current data.mdb, as long as we used the exclusive/priority node recommended by CaptDero yesterday).

Just trying to minimize the need for everyone to download all 2.7GB or so of the blockchain if it isn't necessary (albeit that is certainly the safest option).

Right now there is a lot of work to take care of in other areas but when I get a bit of free time I'll continue to polish up the various platforms, add functionality, and go over the community feedback and submissions.

Strongly agree - adding more communication channels shouldn't be a high priority right now. I know all the cool kids love Discord and the terrorists love Telegram but for an old countercultural type like myself a forum thread - ie, this - is best.

1010  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [TRTL] TurtleCoin - Cowabunga Dudes! on: March 03, 2018, 05:34:17 PM
Started to try this one but was curious if 500 hashes is ok for a 1080 no OC ?

Thanks

It's a bit low for a 1080 - each of mine do 550 - 560 with just a bit of OC and using the tpruvot fork of ccminer - but its not unusually low. Note, however, that Nvidia cards really don't do well at Cryptonight, when evaluated on a $ / hashrate basis; AMD cards are much better.

So if any more proof was needed that the official pool is off in la-la-land it has 6.11 MH/s while the entire network only has 4.98 MH/s...  Undecided
1012  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: DERO BLOCKCHAIN: CryptoNote Privacy + Smart Contracts on: March 03, 2018, 12:28:47 PM
In fact I wonder if this is not an attempt to execute a 51% attack? We don't currently have to worry since pool.dero.live now has >51% of the network hashrate, but that is not the usual case.
dero.live on its own chain, no gaps between blocks: http://pool.dero.live/#pool_blocks
explorer does not show its blocks either

Yeah, I was just about to update my previous post that the last payment from the pool apparently failed:

http://explorer.dero.io/tx/e38a6f1abf8ff477c7b5c3fa31e2c1f2adccb6baab5eafb58904fd3b0d69ffe3

And so pool.dero.live seems to have wandered off on its own once again. Okay, redirecting my mining rig to something else until CaptDero and friends come up with a solution.

I wonder how the wallet GUI is coming along.

Why don't you go to the official website and download it?  Roll Eyes

1014  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: DERO BLOCKCHAIN: CryptoNote Privacy + Smart Contracts on: March 03, 2018, 10:50:36 AM
No, most likely not. I'm getting alternative heights of up to 41770 in my node. >200 blocks is quite the large difference. Are private pools causing the divergence?

Yes, private pools may very well be to blame for the incessant forking. In fact I wonder if this is not an attempt to execute a 51% attack? We don't currently have to worry since pool.dero.live now has >51% of the network hashrate, but that is not the usual case.

1015  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][TZC] TrezarCoin Super-Secure-PoW/PoS on: March 02, 2018, 10:24:59 PM
As mentioned in the quoted text above, the min/ave/max is simply a very simplified way of eyeballing input age dispersion in a really basic way, like looking at everything through the lens of "low", "medium", "high". Based on how your inputs are divvied up and their respective ages, 72 hours may not show much change in the allocation across min/ave/max. So I'm not sure what the issue is with whether they changed or not in the time frame you used.

Sorting coins by arbitrary and undocumented age ranges does not simplify anything, it just makes the data even more inscrutable. Now that a few more days have elapsed the total number of inputs is the same - 148 - but they are now sorted as 28 min, 24 avg, 96 max age. Weight in coin-days is now 11798, so at the rate its increasing I ought to be finding a block via staking any day now...  Grin

If you don't like the "basic" info presented by the min/ave/max organization, the coin-days you mention is the more "precise" value related to your inputs and their age.

I don't much like "coin-days," either, because it is almost as inscrutable. I did eventually find out that is the staking equivalent of hashrate, but without units or a difficulty equation it's not unlike telling a deaf man that sad songs are composed in minor keys...

Now I just need to translate "weight in coin-days" into hashrate to be able to use (presumably) the standard reward estimation equation:

Reward per Day = (86400 * Hash/s * Block Reward) / (Difficulty * 4295032833)

Unfortunately, I am not able to verify whether that equation is applicable to the PoS calculations or how a weight-to-hashrate conversion might work if it is applicable. Hopefully either a dev who does will see this message at some point and let us know, or if you desire a more timely response you could try hopping into the Slack/Discord and asking.

Fair enough. I'm not pressing for a more timely response - clearly I will be waiting a long time for any reward from staking (and will likely do a lot more mining in the meantime) - just a more accurate/informative/comprehensive one.

I'll be honest, your message kind of came across as though you were in a bad mood.
...

Nah, you're taking me too seriously again, despite my previous comments concerning the same. I am busting your chops a little, but the goal is to break through the usual lethargy/inertia/resistance to change, rather than attack you personally.

1016  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Help, Air Filters! on: March 02, 2018, 08:16:54 PM
One thing you can do to increase air flow is to use more area for the filters than is used by the fan. To continue with QuintLeo's cheap-n-cheerful 20" box fan example, instead of using a single 20" x 20" filter, "vee" 2 of them together and then close off the triangular openings this creates on the top and bottom. Now you've got twice the filter area in the same square area (but obviously taking up a lot more volume).

1017  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: DAG file on 3 GB card Limit hit it seems . on: March 02, 2018, 04:19:33 PM
Metroid is retarded, I have 10 GTX 1060 3GB happily mining Eth as we speak.....

3 of the cards are standalone on mini ITX mobos all running windows 10....

So yeah, I dont know what people are talking about but I can provide proof you CAN mine on windows at this time.

The amount of VRAM used aside from mining seems to depend on the installation... I have 4 rigs running Win10 and 1 running Win7 and no two of them use the same amount of VRAM. Windows being Windows, I suppose.

1018  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: DERO BLOCKCHAIN: CryptoNote Privacy + Smart Contracts on: March 02, 2018, 03:32:08 PM
Thank you from the Dero team for your reports and feedback. We have also noticed alt_chain_info is showing some alternate chains and the team is in the process of resolving that.

On a personal note, I'm particularly happy to see that you got your Dero back!

No problem, and thanks as well to you for your efforts at keeping us up to date.

I have to admit I was more than a bit worried those 37 DERO had come from one of the forked chains so might have been invalidated, but everything seems to be fine now. Still, I feel like I've done enough tempting of luck this week and won't be doing any more buying/selling on S.E for awhile.

1019  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX 560 hashrates on: March 02, 2018, 03:24:29 PM
Does Hynix suck for overclocking?
My pbe one click modded hynix starts getting unstable in windows benchmarks at only 1865 mhz
When in was unmodded it could overclock over 2000 mhz, is it normal to have a lower oc ceiling when timings are modded?

Most BIOS mods tighten the read/write timings of the VRAM and, yes, this does tend to lower the maximum stable clock frequency, but this is usually a good tradeoff to make as far as mining performance goes.

1020  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Grow Tent with 100F air intake? on: March 02, 2018, 02:39:37 PM
I want to set up my shelf of rigs in the garage as it is beginning to overwhelm my office.

I am in FL, and my garage gets as hot as it gets outside.  Would an ambient air intake of 100F be able to keep 20ish GPUs cool so long as I keep air moving across them and exhausted out?

You are probably going to want to pull air in from the outside and from below the height of the GPUs then exhaust it back to the outside above the GPUs.

To figure out how powerful of a fan you will need, plug in the heat load in Watts (basically the at-the-wall power consumption) and the temperature rise, delta-T, in degrees Celsius (assume 20-30C) into this equation:

CFM = (1.756 * Watts) / (delta-T)

So, for example, 2000 W with a 20 C temp rise allowed will require a minimum of 175 CFM. That's the ideal case, of course.

Apologies for the mixing of Imperial and Metric units, but using degrees F makes the equation cumbersome while converting from cubic meters / second to CFM is relatively easy.
