What about the 1440 Block Difficulty Adjustment? Any plans to change that?

This is ridiculous, once a multipool hit this coin it will be stuck in high diff forever.

I want to say I read something about the devs interest in kimoto. There's a lot of activity going on behind the scenes it seems. They're pretty responsive to issues when they arise. The difficulty issue just hasn't been one yet I guess.

I'm still mining happily with only 1.5 mh/s even with the diff around 4~5.

FYI, CleanWaterCoin has asked MintPal not to add them until they get their wallet problems under control... It was posted in this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=526513.msg6543709#msg6543709

I've been watching to see how they make out with this. Seems their wallet keeps forking or something... not sure what's up. Just throwing it out there for interests sake!

Sounds like CleanWaterCoin contains some impurities. Cheesy

The ground work is being laid. The concrete is being poured. Every day that goes by this project gets more interesting.
1484  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [CLOSED]R3/R4: Extended HF FLASH SALE PRICING! 2 HF Sierras, At-Cost+Host, PAID on: May 04, 2014, 04:42:39 AM
I'm calling it.

It's a shame all of my purchases through DZ turned out to be a loss. Not DZ's fault, it just sucks. Not the only group buy I've put money into that's turned out garbage, probably won't be the last.

If any funds are recovered I'm still interested, but I'm not holding my breath.
1485  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SLR] SolarCoin - PoW reward for solar energy | the GREEN KING of Crypto on: May 01, 2014, 03:17:53 AM
when you say let it be, you mean let it die. then your wish will be granted

I think an algorithm change is ridiculous. ASIC's are far more energy efficient than GPU's despite the algorithm used. Unless ASIC's are designed to use X11 for example, it's a dumb argument.

1487  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Scrypt ASICS, ASIC resistance, and GPU mining. on: April 24, 2014, 06:17:09 PM
This is both a question and I'm going to offer a prediction.

There's a lot of talk about the new scrypt asics hitting the market and what it means for scrypt technology. Some are in favor of them while others are not, and there are good reasons on either side of the issue. Some say that new technology like X-11 should be implemented across the board to ensure that scrypt mining is made more resistant to centralization, whereas others believe that asic's are the future of the crypto mining world.

What do you think will happen in the coming days for scrypt coin technology?

I will offer this prediction. I think that some coins (not predicting which ones) will welcome asic tech, while others will implement measures to counter the technology. It will happen organically and the market will benefit from this activity. Each developer making the decision based on the needs and philosophy of the coin they work on based on their respective markets and client base. This activity will not only strengthen the scrypt market but will also allow further developments to arise such as possible hybrids that work well with both GPU and asic tech, working in harmony to achieve a solid transaction network.

Every minute a SolarCoin block is mined and visible in the BlockChain. The current reward as of 2014 is 100 SLR. The reward declines 50% each year. This rapid reward decay is designed to maximize initial equitable issuance and network stability while minimizing ongoing carbon footprint relative to other longer decay currencies. A full explanation of the carbon footprint model is available in the SolarCoin Wiki
Ummm... Ya.... Figured that out on my own but how to I collect coin for the power my solar panels produce?

http://solarcoin.org/redeem/

It goes back to 2011 also. There's some requirements on verification and whatnot.

Next difficulty estimate @ 7?  Must be some hash cows that jumped on...  GO SOLARCOIN!

I solo mined this last night for fun with no luck back to pool mining . Cry

Seriously guys,

The coin is called solarcoin. We should set an example and move to X11 while we still can. Hell, with X11 algo we may even be able to mine this thing with solar power!

The devs are looking into alternate protocols as well as future development with etherium, mastercoin technology etc.

SolarCoin Grants expand to Greece and Australia
Posted on 03/29/2014

The SolarCoin Foundation continues its Pilot granting program by granting SolarCoins to solar electricity generators in Greece and Australia.

Greece  - Georgios Zavitsanos submitted a claim for a solar electricity generation facility located in the city of Neochori.  A  996.8KW installation generated 3225.66 MWh of electricity from Mar 2012 to Mar 2014.

Grant transactions  can be verified using a SolarCoin BlockChain explorer: http://184.73.159.72/a/8KSUspYbXi

You know, you didn't need to premine your coin (25000 blocks of it) since you have 99.9% of it in your hands anyway.

The only eco friendly coins are those with no PoW.

Nice pump and dump attempt.

I've seen this before, it's a seminar caller.

Or perhaps we should stop using the "Dollar"?

I bet you can't find more stupid argument! Is this even an argument?
No one wants to force you to use or stop using whatever shitty coin you want. Like Solarcoin.
You still will be able to use it! You're free to use whatever you want, no one cares!

I bet the governments of the world really care about how much their printing.

I think your argument is even worse considering you don't even have one.

You can use the Zimbabwe Dollar also:

Governments don't care.

Look at all you idiotic con artists trying to pass off your premined shites as legitimate. No one gives a fuck about your garbage coins considering we are supposed to trust you scammers with more than 90 percent of your coin's supply with little insurance based on your claims. Cry some more mates.

Ripple.

http://solar.prominer.org

Needs more miners. There's one pool with 100% of the hash rate, this needs to be remedied. I'm mining on prominer, lets get more miners on there.

The coinmktcap twitter account says that they're going to add it tonight.

Buckle up.

I'm trading them anywhere from 2200 to 3500 as the market fluctuates. I'm holding on to quite a few but as I mine them now I'm selling. It's important to get some of them into the hands of investors at a lower price. It creates value and encourages the market.

Would I like to see them at .02 btc? darn right I would! But for now the market is young, the coins mechanisms are being tested and market awareness is still small, so give a few away at first as advertizing and build the transaction tree.

1499  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SLR] SolarCoin - PoW reward for solar energy | the GREEN KING of Crypto on: March 19, 2014, 01:16:31 AM
The majority will not be miners, only 1% of the coins are mined. Ideally the majority of the coins will be held by solar producers, investors, merchants. Although if you consider attaining them through the granting process mining, that's a fair assumption also.

Yes, but for now, the majority of holders ARE miners. When you think the tide will shift so that the miners are the minority? 6 months from now? 6 years from now? Any thoughts?

Well the granting process is in the alpha stage and I'd assume it'll hit a stride during beta. Once the beta staging is over it's only a matter of time before the literature is published and the grant awareness takes off. There is a lot of buzz however. People tend to like grant money even if it's not worth much in the beginning, free is free.

When you say? I'd give it 2 years before we see significant grants paid. Although keep in mind also according to the foundations rules, only 5% of the grant coins will be released by the total number of mined coins.

edit: something like that. Someone else want to make that less confusing and more accurate?

Question. Am I correct in understanding that CryptoPoolMining effectively has over 90% of the network hashrate for this coin? Isn't this a BAD thing? I'm familiar with the possibility of a 51% attack with BTC and other crypto's which has prompted me to ask. I really like this coin, but having all that power in one place really seems like a bad idea.

But there is no incentive to switch to a smaller pool where the payoff takes a lot longer. If one of the other pools could have a block finder's bonus or some other bonuses, then maybe it'd be worth switching.

The nice thing about mining this coin is that the majority of the other miners are all holding their coins rather than dumping. If any of the current altcoins take off, this one has the most promise!
Yes everyone is holding cause this coin will be huge the next btc Smiley also I wonder how many coins are left to mine

Of course , and just like the other coins that.... upsie .. failed to do that.
You talk like that about a coin you don't have clue about?

I was thinking about this coin and it's potential today. What makes sense to me is that two things are required for this coin to "really succeed":
1) The majority of Solarcoin holders should be not be miners (most miners seem to just want to make a quick buck).
2) Merchants need to accept it as a form of payment (obviously).

So this makes me wonder: How long will it take before about 50% of the Solarcoins are owned by Solar-power producers (assuming these people keep their coins and don't dump them)? Anybody have any thoughts on this?

The majority will not be miners, only 1% of the coins are mined. Ideally the majority of the coins will be held by solar producers, investors, merchants. Although if you consider attaining them through the granting process mining, that's a fair assumption also.
