14803  Economy / Speculation / Re: Thank God I am too stupid and naive to recognize risk. on: February 14, 2014, 11:58:38 AM
It will be back to 1k in 2 months. Why panic ? 99% of the world doesn't know about Bitcoin. Give it time.

Yeah, but when they do hear about it it's usually negative things - it's crashing or it's a bubble blah blah.

That's actually very bullish. As long as the media talks about bubbles and crashes we know there's plenty of room to grow and we haven't seen the top yet. People who can't see this as an amazing buying opportunity will be the ones panic buying when we're back at 1k+ in a full blown bull market.

I stopped buying coins long ago. No need to compromise my investment by putting more money into something so risky. I just want more merchant adoption now.
14804  Other / Off-topic / Re: World's most awesome looking hotels... on: February 14, 2014, 11:55:23 AM
I'm not a huge fan of the buzzfeed-type lists everyone posts on Facebook, but I thought this one was pretty neat:

http://myscienceacademy.org/2014/02/11/21-amazing-hotels-you-need-to-visit-before-you-die/

Has anyone ever stayed at one of these? Any others you know of that should've made the list?

Bitcoin related: Which one would everyone want to rent out fully so we can party once BTC reaches $10k (which would be a long time from now, but still)?

I like these kind of cool places lists, but they kinda depress me lol. It should tell you how much they cost.

Yeah these just look depressingly expensive to me  Sad. They give you the websites so you could check how much they are.

Be prepared for more despair when you see how much they are haha.
14805  Other / Off-topic / Re: World's most awesome looking hotels... on: February 14, 2014, 11:47:18 AM
What about this one?

I think I'd feel a bit claustrophobic / have constant panic attacks if I tried to sleep there.
14806  Other / Off-topic / Re: can you help me? on: February 14, 2014, 11:40:04 AM
Are you gonna post these threads every couple of days dude?
He posted it earlier too..? didn't noticed..!

I thought I'd seen this thread before haha.
14807  Other / Off-topic / Re: Gold, Silver, and ...Copper? on: February 14, 2014, 09:28:41 AM
Doge is the Zimbabwean dollar.

Was that meant postively or negatively?  Wink

A currency that is now worthless... I'm going to say the later.
Still you can use doges to buy stuff and gamble, while the Zimbabwean dollars is completely useless!

You can sell it on eBay.

14810  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-02-13] Silk Road 2 Hacked, Unknown amount of Bitcoins Stolen on: February 14, 2014, 09:20:21 AM
I'm sure they're just pulling a gox and using this as an excuse.

Ummm. Good? WTF, are we supposed to feel sorry for criminals having their bitcoins stolen or are we supposed to worry about the bad security of a criminal enterprise? Good, steal them all....

They're only criminals by stupid laws. What about all the cancer and other patients that get their meds from there?

Yeah of course, all the drug dealers selling drugs and all the addicts buying drugs on "Silk Road 2" are cancer patients  Grin

I never said they was, but they should have a right to buy whatever they want from wherever they want.

Stupid and naive but move "this much" into BTC?  Undecided

Yes that is naive and stupid. You'd probably enjoy yourself more and have a better chance of a return with a trip to Monaco or Vegas.

I personally think its very clear that btc is going $10k probably $100k

people just haven't realized it yet/can't somehow see the potential

It won't do if the price tanks on the whiff of any slightly bad news.
14813  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some greedy inviduals might have just blown our chance for MAINSTREAM adoption. on: February 14, 2014, 08:57:19 AM
I'm sure many on here can guess who those individuals are....

Standard Bank of South Africa is currently looking to integrate bitcoin into their banking network. Its the greatest news for the bitcoin community but i'm afraid someone have just blown that chance up. This wild swing market full of pigs will scare the executives away when they're evaluating bitcoin.

I was hoping our community would have seen a bigger picture and not be manipulated so easily.

This is call a correction, welcome to finance. Also bitcoin is about being YOUR OWN bank, we don't bankers here.

The sad thing is that half of these newbs getting involved seem to want to be. They don't care about Bitcoin; they just want to get rich quick, and then they'll probably act like rich bankers and blow it all on drugs and shit.
14814  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2 mysterious satoshi transfers from addresses enjoy, sochi. on: February 14, 2014, 08:53:34 AM

I hope this kind of spam doesn't become widespread.

Unless the core dev decide to do something about it (like tweeking node relay rules),
I believe it will continue because it is free advertising and has proven to be very effective so far.

At the least there should be an option to set the smallest amount you can receive in a wallet, but that won't stop them from being sent. Maybe a minimum fee for dust payments.
14815  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin Curse? JP Morgan Executive Becomes 5th Banker to Die in Last 2 Weeks on: February 14, 2014, 08:46:02 AM
I don't believe in curses. But the bankers deserve whatever they are getting.

Extreme levels of stress to the point of suicide?  Cheesy
14816  Other / Off-topic / Re: Turn out the lights boys - this party is over. on: February 13, 2014, 10:53:34 PM
What a BS original post. If you're not interested in BTC anymore because it's not profitable enough for you, then go ahead and stop using it... We won't stop you!

He's probably just a bored troll with little to no coins.

That description is half accurate for me as well... Tongue

Oh, well you've better try rectify that then or soon you'll get mad and jelly and surely turn into a troll  Cheesy.

Will governments ever learn from restrictions / prohibition?

14819  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ARE PHYSICAL BITCOIN/LITECOIN MORE SECURED? on: February 13, 2014, 10:45:20 PM
Do you think its more safe/secured to have all of your BTC/LTC coins in physical than in digital with all those mess and hacked with exchangers?

Your coins are only as safe as you are.

No. More secure yes, but perhaps not as secure as a offline computer.

How so? They might be arguably safer.
14820  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin Curse? JP Morgan Executive Becomes 5th Banker to Die in Last 2 Weeks on: February 13, 2014, 10:42:48 PM
JPM employs over 260,000 people.  The financial services industry employs an estimated 5.87 million in the United States. The suicide rate in America is 19.2 males and 5.5 females per 100,000. If you assume 1% of all employees are executive level, then you should see:

At JPM
260,000 (employees) * 0.01 (executives) * 0.000192 (suicide rate) = 1 executive male suicide at JPM roughly every 2 years
260,000 (employees) * 0.01 (executives) * 0.000055 (suicide rate) = 1 executive female suicide at JPM roughly every 7 years

in the USA
5,870,000 (employees) * 0.01 (executives) * 0.000192 (suicide rate) = 11 executive male suicides in the USA roughly every year
5,870,000 (employees) * 0.01 (executives) * 0.000055 (suicide rate) = 3 executive female suicides in the USA  roughly every year

Multiple this by the number of financial services employees across all companies in every country and it's obvious that these suicides are just background noise in the normal statistics.

Plus banking is a notoriously stressful occupation and suicides are not that uncommon.
