14826  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin Curse? JP Morgan Executive Becomes 5th Banker to Die in Last 2 Weeks on: February 13, 2014, 07:25:56 PM
Two weeks after the suicide of a JP Morgan banker who jumped to his death from the top of a building, another of the firm’s employees has died, with 37-year-old Ryan Henry Crane becoming the 5th banker fatality in just the last few weeks alone.

Crane was an Executive Director in JPM’s Global Program Trading desk based in New York and had been with the firm for 14 years.

Few details have been released concerning the nature of his death, with reports merely stating that Crane is survived by his wife and son.

“We can only hope this disturbing chain of deaths within the financial industry – one of which involved a nail-gun induced suicide – is purely accidental,” writes Zero Hedge

Wait a second. How is that associated with Bitcoin?

I just got another .00000001 x 2 from the Enjoy and Sochi addresses.  It seems to keep coming every day.  WTF is the point of this, it's getting annoying.  Then it just gets erased because I assume it's a double spend attempt.  Is there anything they could be trying to do to my wallet, or what is the point of this?

It's just spam. Nothing to worry about.

they are trying 2 copy your wallet, you should exchange only at bitcoins4currency.com, you get your money in minutes, its not safe to keep a lot of bitcoins at ur wallet

A thread about spammers being spammed by spammer, classic  Grin

Haha. Ignore this guy.

robocop

The 1987 RoboCop was great, watched it again last year and it has stood the test of time. Have you seen the 2014 version? It came out here on Friday, I haven't seen it yet - though I have plans to go.

I haven't seen the Robocop trilogy in about a decade, but I remember them being a bit dated even back then haha. I'll watch them all again sometime before I watch the reboot.

I haven't seen the others. If you blank out the stop motion animation for ED-209 it's definitely standing the test of time haha.

Haha, yeah, that was it. Stop motion always looks so dated. It's well Jason and the Argonauts.

Same deal, 1 satoshi, 0 confirms.

I hope this kind of spam doesn't become widespread.

I guess the most puzzling part is why this issue hasn’t be[en] solved since 2011.

Hard to argue against that.

It's not a serious issue that needs solving, but it could use further consideration which is happening now. However, what's more puzzling is how irresponsible Mt. Gox is in general and why people listen to anything Karpeles has to say. In the interview he states that they were too busy to keep up with changes in the protocol and then blames it on the protocol.

Over time Bitcoin changed and started implementing changes that would require people using previous versions of the software to upgrade. While we followed most of those updates we were more and more busy and couldn’t keep up with all the changes... We did not notice this change.

This is a horribly run company, and I think the community at large would agree. What kind of company is too busy to keep up with changes in its only product!?!? The same company that is too dumb to follow guidance from the U.S. Treasury Department resulting in frozen bank accounts. Bitcoin is just too much for Magic The Gathering Online Xchange.

I agree with everything you said. The way he handled this was appalling. I don't understand how they're even still in business.

A vaporizer that doesn't vape kinda defeats the purpose, but you two stoners have taken this off topic now haha.

Back on topic: Everybody go watch The Office because it's a classic.

sorry about that and yes it is ive actually been watching rules of engagement at night with my girlfriend it has been pretty good

I think there's two types of American comedies. There's the ones that last a few seasons and are pretty funny, and then there's the ones like Rules of Engagement and How I Met Your Mother that are enjoyable but the laughs are few and far between and they go on like soaps and don't know when to end. Perfect example of this is The UK Office verses the American one.

Agreed. I quit on How I Met Your Mother when I saw that the writers just wanted to milk everything for as long as humanly possible. The show was charming and funny (though Ted was a creep) but also got very repetitive. I stopped at season 5 I think.

They do it everytime, but I'm not a massive fan of American comedies, or those ones that are basically occasionally funny soaps. They make the best dramas, but I always prefer British comedy.

When talking about British comedy, I liked Black books  Smiley

That's one British show I really disliked. I also hated Spaced and everybody seems to love that.

14836  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will The Government Ever Find a way to Regulate Bitcoin? on: February 13, 2014, 06:39:19 PM
Of course they will. It'll be difficult but they are going to regulate it one way or another.

They will most definitely regulate trading and Bitcoin  will be given a legal status so they can tax it.

They'll most probably just tax it when you spend it or exchange it for fiat.

This is great news.

I haven't read this thread yet but the article I saw stated that the CEO plans to start holding coins, and is looking into ways to pay salaries and vendors in BTC.

So all those concerns about big companies hurting BTC by cashing out to Fiat immediately, are gone in this case.

-B-

He already holds a shitload. There's a great in-depth article on him over in the press section.
14839  Other / Off-topic / Re: Turn out the lights boys - this party is over. on: February 13, 2014, 06:25:37 PM
Be prepared for BTC to approach single digits and possibly even fractions of a penny before this is over.  They stand the theoretical probability to rebound once an agreement or framework is reached but this story is definitely over for a while.  Be aware of what you are dealing with - for a period of time you may feel a BTC is worth $1000 but the market may only be giving you 1 penny. Wink

One of your posts yesterday says you're riding BTC all the way to $8500.  Which is it?

Haha. Busted. I guess he must be bored.

Haha, it will be interesting to see the details of the case when they release it. It's bizarre.
