I'd buy 10000 at $4

I'd buy 250... and then buy another 125 at 8$ and kick myself for not sending all the money at once
14944  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: February 11, 2013, 11:13:53 PM
I think it will continue to move up, and at one point start to lose momentum... ( if you look at the past 4 weekly candles you can see this rally has been gaining more and more momentum every week) the loss of momentum will be slow, we will see 2 or 3 weeks of smaller and smaller green weekly candles <- This is were you sell EVERYTHING! after this bitcoin will start a very unstable neutral trend, that will inevitably break down and start a year long down trend. how deep will it fall? no way to know, I'd say people are going to get very excited when they see 10$ bitcoins coming up ( kinda like when we all saw 1$ bitcoins coming and were all ready to buy like mad fools once it got their) so if i had to guess, I'd say 14$ will be the bottom.

for now, UP UP UP with no limit, watch the weekly momentum tho  Wink
if your looking for an entry point to this crazy bubble rally!
buy when this indicator hits 70 or 60

yes this prediction/advice has been pull out of my ass, trade at your own risk...

What I really like about this thread is the shared frustration of trying to convince friends and family that bitcoin are a good idea. My favorite response so far:

Chris: "Have you heard of bitcoins?"
Friend: "No, I don't play World of Warcraft."

i can usually get people to think its interesting, but when it comes down to it, people feel its to risky and "can't afford it".

i did get my GF's grand mother to buy some... shes had been playing around on the stock market... so she understood the high risk high reward aspect... shes sitting on ~20BTC and will NEVER sell, or at least shes been able to hold back from selling so far...  every time i see her i offer to buy them Cheesy

Did you cover your short Adam?

My theory is that Adam was the last person to sell all his coins after the 2011 crash, and made the low $1.994 print.

Still wants the price to come back to $1 so he can load up and double his money!  Smiley

lol, no.

first bought at 0.75, 25$ wroth OMG I HATE MYSELF
i sold at 12 and bought back at 13 on the way down.... OPS
then i tripled my holdings at 3
bought more at 5.
sold some at 15 and 12, bought back at 10
sold at 13.50 & 20
now all my play money has been squeezed out and all i have left is paper wallets, a mining fund (HIM), and some coins waiting to jump in S.DICE at 0.005x

that's the jest.. my trading history is about 500 trades... ( did a lot of day trading at one point... scraping profits off the spread  )

its been fun, but now its almost over Wink

I do not understand why the price is so high. Gambling? Hording?

The price is going up too fast (compared to the growth of Bitcoin economy).  There is too much speculation and not enough real community/production.  And the fact that people are borrowing money at 150% APR (on Bitfinex) to go long is absurd.

Thanks for the analisys nrd525.  There are good reasons for a price increase this time. Here's whats different from a year ago:

Silk Road is doing at least 2mil/month.  Forum usage up hundreds of percent over last year.

A $10mil company will be releasing the BitcoinCard this year at the Vienna Bitcoin Conference. The Russian founders say 5 years of research have gone into this technology allowing a super-low-power credit card sized device to send texts, bitcoins, login info, and consumer data through an ad-hoc network instead of cell towers, at a card cost of only $10-$25

The block reward has halved, decreasing the supply of new coins to 3600 coins/day

Network transaction fees per day are up 1100% from 4 to 48

SatoshiDice has shown the potential of the bitcoin gambling market by earning $600k, including 17,266 bitcoins in December

BitInstant lets you buy bitcoins at walmart, 7-11, and CVS

Explosion in p2p exchanges for cash or bank transfers on sites like localbitcoins

There are many different bitcoin wallets for android and iPhone.

Many companies in the bitcoin community have gone public.

Coinlab and BitPay each got 500k in venture capital.  Coinbase got 100k.

Wordpress signed up with BitPay, the 20th largest website in the world.  BitPay then doubled their number of merchants in three months.

Somewhere around 3000 merchants accept bitcoin, up several hundred percent.

Bitcoin Foundation Launched in September 2012

Bitcoin can be traded on forex exchanges

New bitcoin based businesses are announced every day due to zero barrier to entry

Do you keep a list or do these just pop up in your head?
well done, I think this captures all the reasons for the price rising...

most Bitcoin Bears will cover a short with 5-10% profit and count themselves lucky... so in reality most bears are really long term bulls that believe price will go down for a sec   Tongue

14956  Economy / Speculation / Re: Pump and Dump ? on: February 10, 2013, 03:54:58 AM
Its not hard to see that bitcoin is growing... but the thing you have to remember is that bitcoin is and always will be 90% speculation,  so even if the rise in value has some legit growth backing it up, the fact remains that 90% of the rise is due to speculation, this is of course unsustainable and will come crashing down at one point. I dont think any one person is doing a pump and dump, the market as a hole is doing this without really realizing it.

consider giving your friends a nice solid brass coin

click here-> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=126834.0

the coin has a little grove on the back where the paper wallet fits, so the coin is flush even with the paper wallet stuck on it.

 Smiley

if you want just the coins, that you will fund yourself, its very cheap. ~1$ / coin + shipping
