when i took my ant miners in to show them
they freaked out a bit lol

but as most of us has S1 / KNC type miners its not a issue

i did say that if some one want us to host there ant miners then we can charge them for shelf space

but on the hole they think its a good idea

just need to make sure that i have all the information in the right place

I think you will find the HUB dose not have enough power to run 24 gridseeds

what size is the PSU?

This is the Monoprice 24-port USB hub. I don't have it in front of me right now, but I think the power adapter for it is 12V at 4A = 48W. The Gridseeds are powered using 12V at 7A = 84W power bricks. Each one powers 8 Gridseeds each, and the Gridseeds run in scrypt only mode. I purchased the 20x Gridseed kit from Zoomhash, 4 of them.

i'm not sure but i dint think thats enough power on the 5v Line to power all the gridseeds.

I've tried 4 different USB hubs and it looks like the max number of Gridseeds I can get running at the same time is around 7-9. This is using the Raspberry Pi across 3 different distros (Hashra, Scripta, Zoomhash). The hubs were:

4-port USB hub - 5V @ 1 A adapter, all 4 Gridseeds working
10-port USB hub - 5V @ 1 A adapter, 8 Gridseeds working
10-port USB hub - 5V @ 2.5A adapter, 8 Gridseeds working in Scripta, 9 Gridseeds working in Hashra.
Monoprice 24-port USB hub - 5V @ 4A adapter, 7 Gridseeds working in Scripta.

So I don't think it's related to the power.

I've had 20 working for about a month on two 10-port hubs, each with a 5A adapter.

I also had 26 working for a few days on two 13-port hubs, which came with 2.5A (I think) adapters, but I used an ATX PSU to feed 5V to them, so not sure how many amps that was.

I couldn't get the Monoprice hub to work either, at most I think I got 18 Gridseeds on it.

I also found that USB cables matter too. Cheap thin cables wasted me a lot of time with random drop outs and freezes.

I had my first 20 grid seeds working on a 49 port hub
and on Monday i got 30 more in
now i can not put more that 25 grid seeds on the 49 port hub if i do then all the grid seeds stop mining.
i have changed the PSU with one that has a 25amp 5v rail but its still the same
now I'm looking for a different usb hub to use.

had anyone got any of the 10 port hubs that come in the grid seed accessory pac they are not using and want to sell ?

Hi
first off very sorry for the lack of update I'm working nights at the moment so its a bit mad

now as for the meeting / hosting
there have been no objections for Us to do this I have tout a plan of action together with what is required by department involved i.e.

networks
security
operations
smart hands
management

once i have all the information i will put a business case together and submit it to EU management.

this is not going to be a fast thing but its looks like it will go ahead.

I will keep this thread update as much as i can .

I'm trying to get 80 Gridseeds working across 4 Raspberry Pi's (24 Gridseeds for each Raspberry Pi using Monoprice 24-port USB hubs). However, I'm running into an issue with btbartle's cgminer:

It looks like the Gridseeds are hashing, but only 3 of them have submitted shares, and a very low amount at that (and strangely, it always increments by a power of 2). Does anybody have any idea why this is happening? I've tried using the default 600 MHz speed and also using cpuminer, but the results are always the same.
I think you will find the HUB dose not have enough power to run 24 gridseeds

what size is the PSU?

Like the titles says, large quantity considered first.pm please.

just to let everyone know I have done loads of deals with zulover
and I have never had any problems at all.
He's a good guy and works very hard to make sure that we both got the deal we wanted

I don't quite understand what you need to set up a gridseed.
Some people sell them without adapter, some with, some with PSU, some without.
Can you mine this using minepeon?

You can use minepeon but you will need to replace cgminer
if you need help send me a PM and we will get you sorted

Sorry, didn't mean to offend you about it being a scam etc. Personally I think this is very genuine attempt at something that could be pretty awesome, its just (as I am sure you know) there have been some pretty epic legit seeming scams in the past.

With pricing, it would be nice to pay on a monthly basis, but with some guarantee that the price is not suddenly going to hike up in 3 months time. Hope this is helpful.
no offence taken mate its all good

i think the BIG thing is going to be the power cost
what i would like to see is something like
A fixed price for 3 months with at least 30 days notice of a change

1514  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: UK Hosting for Mining kit on: March 30, 2014, 11:03:05 PM
I would be interested if it is cheap enough and you can guarantee that someone is not going to just run off with my hardware (however I like how you linked a legit video of the place you work and looks pretty legit so far (Cryptocurrency enthusiasts in general tend to be very sceptical about scams etc.)).

I think remote access to your miner and some kind of remote support guy (that actually knows what he is doing) would be important too.

I am only looking to host 3 Antminer S1's, I'm not sure that is what you are looking at scale wise?

In response as for if there is a market for this, there definitely is if you can build yourself a trusted reputation with good customer service - If this were to happen I would definitely know people that might be interested.

I think your hardest part with selling this product to people will be getting yourself noticed.
Hi
ok cool
that's why I put in the OP that I work for XEROX
and that we will be able to use the XEROX DC's

this is totally legit
I just need to know what everyone wants etc

ok
before anyone goes mad with this

these battery's are not STABLE unless you charge them correctly

they have caused fires and I will post pics when I get back home tomorrow

there are better system for using solar charging / power for the Gridseeds

don't get me wrong this WILL work but you must very careful.

just look at this on youtube

ok this is good
what i need to know is what you would like us to offer

I know that might seem a bit strange but if i go back to the management
and say theres a market for this I'm going to get ask all sorts of questions.
So lets try and get it right first time  (if we can)

so we have 42 / 52 U cabinets that we can fill any way we want.
we can put shelves in etc
each cabinet has duel power feeds.

So whats on your wish list?
i.e.
cost's
Smart hands for reboots etc

I need as much as information as i can get as i have a meeting on Friday 4th April

I am using win 7 64bit with the cpuminer fixed power usage (running through a 49 port BE hub), I am running core at 800MHz (some are wobbly on 850)

My question is I can only get between 275-305KHs with each unit? I thought stock was this speed and clocking to 800 should yeald 380+

Is there something I can change? Is this right? I just want to get the most out of a stable unit.

I have mine set to 850 and I get a very stable 360k from each

I have 20 running on the scripta image running fine and it has been for days

Where did you get the cgminer from?
Did you compile it your self?

[/quote]

Used the wezzy image and replaced cgminer with anderseens version.

I can not get past 10 hours with 20 seeds.

Can you post the links you used and I will have a go at setting it up and see if I get the same problem

Can you run 20 off the Raspberry pi with the hashra controla software?
The rpi does have 2 USB sockets, and the hubs are 10 ports each, so I was thinking it might be possible.
Dont know if it's stable though.
Don't know about that software I have tried scripta and it works
I am using a 49 port usb hub
I have also tried use mine peon with a updated version of cgminer 3.7.2
But I get usb errors so that not quite sorted yet

Hi everyone, I keep getting kernel issues on the RPI wth 10 gridseeds connected and cgminer running.

First I got the 'kernel paging request' error. This one is pretty known these forum lately:
Code:
[ 4565.377848] Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address 00002055
[ 4565.385255] pgd = c9df8000
[ 4565.393214] [00002055] *pgd=c9df8000, *pte=00000000, *ppte=00000000
[ 4565.404992] Internal error: Oops: 17 [#1] PREEMT ARM

Here is a screenshot:

I was able to fix this enabling the SLUB_DEBUG options as found in this thread:

sudo nano /boot/cmdline.txt

Add the following code at the end of the first line (on the same line as the other text, DO NOT add new line!)
Code:
slub_debug=FP

Save the file then reboot your Raspberry Pi.

Anyways, now the paging request error is gone, I'm getting various new kernel panics:

One error is something with LIBUSB and 'out of memory':

Code:
 [2014-03-29 11:21:19] GSD 1 SendWork usb write err:(-7) LIBUSB_ERROR_TIMEOUT
 [2014-03-29 11:21:19] GSD 3 SendWork usb write err:(-7) LIBUSB_ERROR_TIMEOUT

Another error is another kernel panic 'null pointer dereference':

[ 139.897643] Internal error: Oops: 817 [#1] PREEMT ARM

It seems I cant get this horse running stable! Any ideas?

Running RPI with ArchLinuxARM and CGMiner.

I'm not a linux person, BUT I will say this.
For 10 seeds the whezzy with scripta runs fine on a Raspberry.
When you go to 20 is when it gets crazy.
