1502  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Help to buy bitcoin on: May 15, 2015, 07:41:17 AM
Hi,
I wanted to buy something but in my country,Iran we do not have access to cards like visa or master or services like paypal and mostly others. Infact some do it through other countris but it will cost  2 to 3 times more than actual price. The only way to buy that service is btc but here again is the problem, how buy bitcoins!? only gift cards are available here like google, amazon, itunes or webmoney ready codes and most of them even without scans. Can anybody please help and show me some way to change for example google gift card with bitcoins? Any other way?
Thanks

1503  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: "The Evil Within" Screenshot Competition *NSFW* on: May 15, 2015, 07:38:35 AM
Since you dont mention it directly, does it have to be our screenshot or can we actually post screenshots that we found on google?

Read the above post. It is mentioned directly.

So that means we need to own the game and take the screenshots ourselves.
Hmm, ok, I think I will pass on this.

Good luck to everyone Smiley

Guys, are you sure PoM is Variety Jones?

Here's what I found (warning it's a long read): http://buymarijuanaseeds.com/community/threads/poms-proving-ground.89418/
Scroll down to KindRed's post.

In early 2004, a few weeks after leaving Seeds Direct, I left England to spend some time with a good friend of mine, Variety Jones.

That doesn't sound like PoM is Variety Jones to me, or at least that it wasn't at the time.

None the less the entire post is an interesting read.

EDIT: Who is RC?

RC is Richard Baghdadlian aka Richard Calrisian.

Also, it was stated at the beginning of http://buymarijuanaseeds.com/community/threads/poms-proving-ground.89418/#post-813607

Relatively quick summary

For those who haven't been able to follow this sordid tale, and because I have it summarized somewhat elsewhere. This is not necessarily in proper or chronological order, and I apologize to the moderators if it's in any way unappreciated or excessive or whatever. Just tryin to help out! Anything that's not properly attributed, pretty well all of what's below in fact, is from posts in various threads mostly at PlanetGanja.com, by Plural of Mongoose.

Enjoy!

Thanks, I must have missed that.
It's a LONG read Smiley

On a side note, it seems that Gypsy Nirvana along with RC and Dutchgrown has attempted to take out PoM.

If one or two of you could download them, and keep 'em safe fer a bit, I'd apprecitate it.

They will help to prove that Gypsy Nirvana and Dutchgrown, in a conspiracy with RC, contracted to have me killed.

Now, I'm gonna hafta out myself here in the next 24 hours - post up my own pic, name, and details, to confirm what's going on.

After 20+ years in the shadows, that ain't easy.

1506  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is "Variety Jones"? on: May 13, 2015, 07:52:29 AM
Just having the middle name "Clark" doesn't make him Thomas Clark. I have the court documents "Thomas Clark vs Gypsy Nirvana" PLUS his forum posts that prove the connection him beeing beeing PoM. Now the theory, that PoM is Variety Jones is still only based on the chat log, where VJ says, that he has given a lot of hints to Ross about his identity and "googling for Plural of Mongoose alone" will reveal his identity. This could be a fake hint, but it is very unlikey due to various facts. Means, it is still possible, that someone else took over the VJ/PoM personality from the good ole OG times, but I doubt it.

Well, if you consider that both VJ and PoM bith sold cannabis seeds, then the possibility of them being the same person is pretty high.
1507  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is "Variety Jones"? on: May 12, 2015, 05:36:22 PM
On a side note, this is also being discussed in other places on the net as well.
Here's a couple:

http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/21248836
http://www.mrnice.nl/forum/3-daily-news/13289-variety-jones-aka-thomas-clark-aka-plural-mongoose.html

Aparently searching on google for Thomas Clark Silk Road brings up quite a few results.

For those donning Superman glasses, you already know Curtis Green's middle name. You should already know that Curtis' brother, Darren, was trading heavily on SR prior to CR becoming an admin, albeit DG claimed it was only to purchase ONE diamond, a graphic card(s), and some other non-drug related items, sticking it my ass for not knowing that SR sold other shit. Strangely, while DG was making these purchases, he was espousing how SR was mainly a drug venue, akin to how he knew about CG's crowdfunding campaign because he once dated his daughter, later revealed to be his niece. That, after Darren first claiming to stumble upon his brother funding site ~40 minutes after it went live.

Thanks to my avid reader skills, I uncovered that bigasic's former moniker was avidreader, his account going dark for ~6.5 months after the arrest of his brother, Curtis, returning as bigasic.

Darren and Curtis' Mormon father must be very proud of his boys' success after raising them so well... So well. SO WELL!

"Bruno started to scare me, so that's why I gave up being Variety Jones, originally started to only sell Amish furniture made in China on Silk Road."

That is just plain sick.

Apart from that - which made me sick to my stomach,
Bruno are you saying that VJ and DG are somehow connected?
(This is starting to get more interesting)
1508  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is "Variety Jones"? on: May 12, 2015, 05:17:59 PM
Here is what I don't understand.

Thomas Clark has been to court before as defendant in a case with Gypsy Nirvana. http://www.rollitup.org/t/whats-the-deal-with-gypsy-nirvana-ltd.88756/
That means that the UK government has his personal details.

So why can't they get to him?

Because he is either a snitch or he is working for the feds.

Well, this is interesting: http://www.goodreads.com/review/list/2627257-thomas-clark?shelf=read&sort=date_added

It is a list of books that were read and reviewed by a Thomas Clark.

Apart from the many conspiracy, Chinese and Russian books, one truly stands out: Shadow of the Silk Road

And there is not many people that heard of it, and those who did think it's a scam.

Kitguru posted on their facebook about Variety Jones, no clue why large tech sites are picking it up. I haven't been able to read the article yet.

Yeah, the article is here: http://www.kitguru.net/channel/jon-martindale/meet-variety-jones-ross-ulbrichts-secret-mentor/
but it doesn't really say anything we don't already know.

Chances are that they probably got their info from here....  Roll Eyes
1514  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Movie on: May 11, 2015, 01:38:34 PM
Anyone else think Bitcoin's history is perfect for a blockbuster movie?

. Satoshi releases bitcoin (Satoshi's face would never be revealed) --2008ish
. We then go into the lives of the first bitcoiners, Gavin Anderson, Hal Finney, etc --2008 to 2009
. Satoshi leaves Bitcoin unexpectedly and we go into a period where the rest of the bitcoiners have to cope with his leaving --2010
. We then follow Gavin Anderson working on Bitcoin and meeting the CIA --2010
. Mark Karpeles and Charlie Shrem are introduced(BitInstant and MtGox) --2010 to 2012
. The plot revolves around these characters trying to uplift Bitcoin and get adoption, such as making the TBF --2012 to 2013
. However, things go awry when Charlie Shrem is charged by the Feds -- 2013
. Bitcoin's current ATH occurs in November 2013 as the price peaks at $1200 per coin, now the movie gets social and we see them celebrating, etc 2013
. MtGox falls under along with Mark Karpeles --2014
. A large amount of companies gain interest in Bitcoin and start accepting it ---2014
. The Bitcoin Foundation falls and Gavin Anderson and other developers go to work for MIT labs --2015
. The movie ends with the Hard Fork for increased blocksize going through and cheers to the revolutionary future of Bitcoin
. The ending credits show the future of Bitcoin, it becomes a standard currency and largely accepted around the world --2020+

That's my thoughts on the first Bitcoin movie. A 2nd one would feature Satoshi Nakamoto's life(face revealed), what led him/them to create bitcoin, the actual creation of Bitcoin, it's release, and the ending would be a cliffhanger on what Satoshi did after leaving in 2010.

All of that would be pure speculatiom though as we do not know who Satoshi is, his motives for creating Bitcoin or what he is upto right now.

I have wisdom to share: This is originally a line from Buckaroo Banzai Across The Eigth Dimension:

"No matter where you go, there you are."

You, with money, are the same person as you, without money.  Having money may change the way you live, but get over the idea that it will change you.  It won't.  If you expect it to, you'll waste a lot of time trying to figure out who you are.  And if you do shit you don't like or aren't good at, expecting that you will like it or be good at it now that you have money, you're being dumb.  If you're unhappy without money, you'll probably be unhappy with money.  If you can't form stable relationships because you don't value other people enough, you'll still have that problem when you have money.  etc.

So, long-story-short: money is a tool, not an aspect of identity.

Amen.

Man make the money, money never make the man. - L.L. Cool J

TL;DR version?

You should really read it all it is a good read.

The no part will be BIG imo.. I forsee difficult times ahead.. those you have pleaded with to buy real wealth will come BEGGING for you to bail them out after they spent all their money on booze and bitches when you saved it to secure your future.

You must learn to become an *ass* don't let fools ride your coat tails after partying while you worked.

My plan is to own a golf course with my other BTC buddy.  Although he might just buy like 10 with the stash he has lol.

OK. Read it.

So, it's a prediction that the next bubble is coming sometime after this winter?

Erm, isn't the block reward supposed to halve next year?

1518  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's Happening .... The secrets of 21 inc revealed, and its what we hoped for. on: May 07, 2015, 03:07:32 PM
I wonder how many TH/s it takes to toast bread in 2 minutes  Wink . The idea is good but there aren't enough everyday items we use just for the heat, I can't think of too many.

Yes, but all it takes is one or two products. Personally I think most of the products in the article are non starters including the toaster for ASIC's and the journalists were deliberately misled so they didn't leak the real products which could be competitive in the market.

I can think of a few products that have a chance of working: electric space heaters, coffee/tea warmers, and  hot water heaters are a few examples.

That, you do not know.

You have no idea what are the plans of 21 inc.
maybe they will set up their own pool where these new "miners" will mine.

Agreed. Many scenarios could play out with further competition into appliance creating multiple new pools competing with older pools. A 21 Inc pool, a Samsung pool, a GE mining pool , ect...

... or if our hand is forced we may have to reverse enineer one of their products and create our own crowdfunded ASIC appliances that communicate with p2p pools. Wink

Well, why not hack their appliances (which will be our property since bought) and have them point to any pool that we want?

^^^ That.
What is stopping us from doing that?
1519  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's Happening .... The secrets of 21 inc revealed, and its what we hoped for. on: May 07, 2015, 02:44:27 PM
If it’s free you’re probably the product.
Nothing is free, maybe only the air you breathe that is polluted anyway...

In a market of brutal competition where miners have to pay for security, warehouse leases, engineers, cheap electrical contracts, ect ... 21 Inc is attempting to off load those costs onto the user.

Profits will be realized through greater efficiencies -

Security is no longer needed anymore because there is no longer a warehouse full of expensive ASIC's to protect. There are millions of coffee warmers spread across homes that aren't worth the effort stealing each one.

Electricity can be free with certain products. If I can use the waste heat from ASICs to warm a cup of tea or coffee than I have just put that wasted energy to use.

No Warehouse rent needed or insurance as mining is decentralized and replacing an existing appliance in a home.

That, you do not know.

You have no idea what are the plans of 21 inc.
maybe they will set up their own pool where these new "miners" will mine.
I mean we should expect that, why wouldn't they? The miners are going to be preconfigured for this to work the way they want, what is more reliable then their own pool?

Why not P2Pool?
