Power efficiency is nice but the number doesn't change that much, you need 10 chips (600$?) to outmatch a 280x (300$?), yes power is the key but this is not "a game changer" just a shift in power consumption, the kh numbers are pretty much the same.

Is this still the solution to go? Got the same problem with my 280x but the fix isn't working -.-

Die 0.9 BTC wären echt gut gewesen xD

Also mal Grundsätzlich, die FAQ lesen hilft schon vorm schreien
http://de.wallet-decrypt.com/faqs/

1505  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cube Power Supplies (or any PCIe 6-pin devices) on: November 27, 2013, 08:29:30 AM
Why did you pick such a small PSU? The 2000W PSU is sold on ebay for around 30-40$

I mean, kudos - but 750W seems wasted, you should aim for PSUs that can power 4 7950 aka provide 8 pciE 6 Pin (possibly 4 6+2). You will surely have an audience if you achieve that.

Go for 1200W+

Hey, how can i change the blockainfolder? I dont want to sve them in c:...appdata.
can somebody help?

and yeah ive already tried with "-datadir....", doesnt accept and dont know why =/

And by the way, where can i buy some XPM coins?
-datadir=Primecoin
is the way to do it, it will create a Primecoin folder in the folder you've started it in and put everything in there.

man, this coin cannot be co-solo from multiple PCs?
i tried to use ptsminer and jhprotominer to connect to other pc that run qt but all miners above doesnt work.

Only one working with the wallet (getWork) is this one
https://github.com/wangchun/cpuminer
no idea about effiency though, can't get it compiled ^^

Xeons seem to perform kinda bad, i get 44 hpm on 32 cores (2.2 ghz each) in 32 threads (getting less with 64) thats 1.375 hpm per thread vs 2.5 hpm per thread on an ivy i3

Its because you count HT as normal cores. So dont use HT or use better compiler

It has 32 physical cores and 64 with HT, i7 perform better with threads = HT, guess xeons dont.

And how should i use a better compiler on standard ubuntu?

Morning..

I have a question please..

I'm mining 3x Instances and I'm still not peeking 100% usage on 2x Xeon 3.3.  Its on 88%.

1)  Shall I run another instant and peak it?
2)  Or its better to not peak and allow it to work through?

Are you memory limited ? I was getting 2.3 hpm running a single instance on a i3, so this is pretty bad for a dual xeon.

Interesting thing, a 32 core xeon server gets only ~45 hpm (-10 if i increase threads from 32 to 64) and found 1 block so far - where a decent quadcore (sandy and newer) will run at 20-25 hpm - just a little "fun fact" for all your bot and datacenter resistance comments.

Oh and Windows generally performs worse since its 32 bit, 3 threads net me 11 hpm in Windows and around 16-18 in Linux, 4 got me to the mentioned 20-22 hpm with an i5-3570k non oc.

No one compiled 64 bit binaries yet? Or just not giving them out?  Cool

Not for windoze =D On linux i run them from lunch =D

Linux is easy, got it up and running with 32 threads  Grin but i need windows too -.-

Anybody know how to run more than one instance in Linux(without GUI)?

Thanks in advance.

6-core here, how do I run more than one process in Win7?

Thank you

1. protoshares-qt -port=25550 -datadir=<dir1>
2. protoshares-qt -port=25551 -datadir=<dir2>

Replace dir1 and dir2 with the respective data directories.
Then, in each go to debug console and do "setgenerate true 3". Set the affinity of first process to the first 3 cores and the second process to next 3 cores.

Just run the

Code:
setgenerate true [Number of processess]

No need for more than one instance.

32 Bit Windows binary is limited to 3.2 gb ram -> max 3 threads.

Botnets on it already  Roll Eyes
Because of that, the price for PTS will be low and there is no sense mine it.
All CPU coins designed for botnet owners and IT Admins.

A few hours ago this coin was botnet and admin resistent...oO?

And yes, it's pretty easy to copy the full qt on every client (you neither need qt nor any installation) but i won't go into details, this is not the place for any criminal activities and that's what this is about - no admin will ever have the okay from above to run something on every client.

How can something be IT Administrator Resistant?! I'm mining just fine  Grin

Found my first block, 7 hpm
I wrote that there is little protection (large memory requirements and the restriction on the number of processes. In any case, this coin harder to mine than XPM, where you can throw a little invisible process that don't use much memory, and no one will know it.

User are trained to look for cpu usage and not memory so it won't matter if you start one xpm thread with low memory usage or one proto thread with 700 mb memory, even finding a blocking process is beyond many users capabilities. Even quads are uncommon in offices so the sneaky sysadmin woulnd't start more than one thread anyway, thus the 3 threads limit is ineffective.

If you are a datacenter admin on the other hand, both doesn't bother you since you're either running linux or just spam instances.

But we are going offtopic  Grin
