Maybe they have a used server UPS somewhere you could get?  They usually have good power conditioning.

I'm sure it's a virus.
1524  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: July 11, 2013, 11:06:39 PM

It was a hypothetical question.  We are all investing now because we are getting crazy awesome returns.
But, this success will eventually lead to a more typical return...   Different than we have now.
When that time comes...

Oh I see -- I thought you were saying that AM's returns were too low now -- sorry, I totally read it the wrong way.
1525  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Ann] US based Avalon ASIC chips and assembly: 4,600 remaining on: July 11, 2013, 11:04:50 PM
Avalon sent out an email saying they were going to start shipping chips in mid July.  (not our chips, just chips in general).
1526  Other / MultiBit / Re: Debian/Ubuntu packages for MultiBit? on: July 11, 2013, 04:00:11 PM
I don't mind it -- it's really the same to install as a jar as it is a deb.  I wonder what goes into making a .deb package.

Oh and all the bitcoin-qt packages I used to find were all outdated.  If you want bitcoin-qt it's better to just compile it yourself.

We're still around 25% returns on ASICMINER-PT...
As we get closer to what traditional investors and investments can get, will those investors require more data and transparency?

Is there a reason virtual markets would be willing to shoulder more risk for equal or less returns than traditional markets?

25% in stock price would be an awesome year for a traditional investor.  25% in dividends plus whatever the price of AM shares has gone up would be an insane return.  What did you think traditional investors usually make?  What does your portfolio look like so that I can copy it?

Yeah, I was talking about TAT.ASICMINER (1/100 shares) -- thought that's what the poster was asking about.

That fee is very small right? I tried to find it for btct but couldn't, anyone know what the dividend cut is?
5%

Grin Grin Grin  I'm having a terrible day here.

Ha, Kicad is worse than I thought.
1531  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: ASIC resale value on: July 10, 2013, 04:41:35 AM
All it can do is calculate the SHA-256 hash (twice) of a 32 byte number.  So you'd need someone to encrypt their data with exactly that hashing function.

That's your activity, not your posts.  It's only updated every 2 weeks.

Lol.  Fair enough.  But I wasn't trying to spam for a badge.  Just for a privilege (starting a new topic) I had already previously earned.

You can start new topics without being a hero member.

I'm not sure, I thought there was one for a year, but all I could find was shorter durations.
1535  Other / Meta / Re: Activity & new membergroup limits on: July 09, 2013, 04:55:01 AM
He's probably confusing it with the stack overflow badge for posting once a day for a year.

What does it say for your total time logged in?  Sometimes it takes a few hours (wall time) for the system to update statuses.

I think each chip is 2W.  I'd imagine they'd be the bulk of the power use, maybe 80%?  (I just made that % up)
1538  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Ann] US based Avalon ASIC chips and assembly: 4,600 remaining on: July 08, 2013, 08:30:26 PM
Is it really getting hammered?  I didn't see it posted on CNN or anything.
1539  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: July 08, 2013, 12:46:34 PM
I've made up plenty solderless breadboard prototypes using a 20MHz crystal for a PIC and have managed to not knock out my cell reception.  I'm sure it'll be fine.
