So the release is planned on october?
I'm already waiting half of a year.  Undecided

open beta or a "true" 1.0 release?
True release expected to be sometime in November. Coin Distribution sometime in the third week of October.

Beta sometime this month.

My guestimation. Not a formal schedule.

What is true release anyway ? Bitcoin is still in Beta.

From which country is NEM provide team?

All over the world, from Asia to the Americas. This is a truly worldwide initiative.

Truly something international.
Here are people from all over the world and everybody wants to see NEM's success.

To be honest it's more often than not that i personally feel like the timezones are a real drag Grin

Followed the procedure to claim my NEM stake. Nervous now as I have never used NXT before.

You do realize that you are merely claiming an asset right ? To get real NEM you'll need to exchange that later on. It's only for people that want to trade pre launch and not necessary for people that only want to claim their stake.
1526  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SuperNET - ICO conducted by BTER + ... on: September 07, 2014, 09:32:11 AM
What a load of ignorant comments!

- The present wallet has a new skin available.
- Blackcoin is a pure proof of stake coin, whereas Bitcoin is proof of work.
- Blackcoin was derived from Peercoin, but with a faster blocktime making it more suitable for in-person transactions.

Blackcoin has CoinKite integration (a point of sale system) too, that's a plus.

Everyone and their mother's $hitcoin makes the same claim that their $hitcoin is a technical improvement or the next best thing since sliced bread, unfortunately this almost never matches with reality.

Reality is all these $hitcoins like BlackCoin, NameCoin, PeerCoin,  Quark,  et cetera, all must go - some of them may had offered something at one point but concurrently they're dead weight which sucks capital away from more innovative coins like NXT and BTCD.

AFAIK PeerCoin was the first to introduce POS so that was most definitely an improvement and a big one at that. I agree with your general message though. Many coins have very little to nothing new to offer. I'm suprised it hasen't driven anyone to go closed source and have a respectable company review their code to establish trust.
1527  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SuperNET - ICO conducted by BTER + ... on: September 06, 2014, 05:46:31 PM
You guys gave 2,500+ BTC to someone who refuses to idenficate themselves to a third-party? Jesus, this community never learns...
Sorry to say... before I can invest I need to make sure this isn't a scam. And there is a big red sign on this.
Bytheway the "this goes up X and X per minute" is another one. "Hurry up, don't miss the train!" Ugh. I get a feeling market gonna lose more BTC after this   Undecided

jl777 has been in the NXT community since very early on, and is a key contributor the the MGW(Multigateway).

jl777 is not a nobody to anyone in the NXT community.

I agree. I wouldn't have invested in this if it wasn't jl777 leading this.
As i see it he is the only reason to really invest in NXT. Where would NXT be without MGW ? In line with all the other POS coins. Don't get me wrong I don't mean to hate on NXT but the way I see it NXT is a lot less without jl777.
1528  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [AИN] NODE - 2n Gen. CryptoCurrency build from SCRATCH on NODE.JS - Brand NEW! on: September 06, 2014, 04:45:58 PM

I am not 100% sure, but I donīt think there wonīt be a fiat gateway integrated in NODE.
As I understood that, you can send USD/BTC/ etc value, transported by NODE. But you canīt buy NODE directly with USD in the NODE-Wallet.

So you have 1000 NODEs equals 500$.  So you choose the USD Wallet and send 500$. The receiving account gets 500$ equals 1000 NODEs.
So it is technically a NODE transfer, but you can see it as USD in your Wallet. But if you want to cash out, you have to go to on exchange with your NODEs and cashout Fiat from there.

Right? Wong?

I'd say wrong as that wouldn't be anything new. You can calculate the fiat value of any coin and then transfer the coin equivalent.
The way i understand this there will be a way to relly transfer fiat into the NODE network and use that.
1529  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Crowdsale has begun[Updates & Discussion] on: September 06, 2014, 04:44:02 PM
I really like this coin
i wish i have BTCs to buy a 1 stake more
Cheesy

It's not just a coin. It's a movement. An ecosystem.
People that refer to it as just another coin prob haven't done their homework Smiley
1530  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SuperNET - ICO conducted by BTER + ... on: September 06, 2014, 12:18:32 PM
Brief overview of SuperNET sale process. Hopefully this will answer at least some common questions.

SuperNET fundraising process

SuperNET will be available on BTER and the NXT Asset Exchange (available within the client downloadable from www.NXT.org, or see www.secureae.com for browser version).
BTER will sell a SuperNET token (symbol: TOKEN) which will be exchanged for the UNITY asset at the end of the process. (TOKEN may not be withdrawn until it has been converted to UNITY. They may be traded if desired.)

A similar token will be available on the Asset Exchange, which will also be exchanged for UNITY at the end:
Official SuperNET NXT addr: NXT-MRBN-8DFH-PFMK-A4DBM
Official SuperNET TOKEN asset: 15641806960898178066
Beware of any SuperNET related asset issued by any other account

TOKEN can be purchased in BTC, NXT and BTCD. There will be a 5% discount on the BTC price for purchases with NXT and BTCD. The discount will be calculated from a 24-hour moving average. This does not take into account any fluctuations in the price of NXT or BTCD over the course of the process.

In addition, there will be an 'early bird' discount of 15% for the first investors. This amount will slowly decrease to zero over the next two weeks. Pricing will be adjusted automatically on BTER but manually on the NXT Asset Exchange, hence may not be as smooth.

There is no limit on the amount of TOKEN available overall, though there may be short-term restrictions on TOKEN available at a given price if volumes are very high. If a large number are sold, this does not dilute other buyers' holdings, since SuperNET is backed by the cryptocurrency paid: SuperNET is not a cryptocurrency and this is not like a typical coin offering. (SuperNET is a basket of cryptocurrencies and revenue-generating assets than can be considered more like a closed-ended mutual fund.)

The fundraiser will start at 14:00 GMT Saturday 6 September. It will continue for 2-4 weeks in total, for as long as there is sufficient interest. At the end, all TOKEN will be converted to UNITY, which can be withdrawn to a NXT wallet or traded on the AE, BTER and other supporting exchanges.

For further information about SuperNET, please see http://thesupernet.org/superNET.pdf

why have you not decided not to do it in poloniex, I thought that was the plan?

Also,  will be able to see o provide the exact link in bter to buy the token?

Thanks

Poloniex refused them.

I just hope the supernet will have coins with unique goals. 95% of the coins have the same bs goals with the same features.

Can we have coins to be used for something else than these bs anon features?
yes of course
what would you like to see?
I want to make SuperNET as useful as possible
we need to have someone track most popular services
noashh will hopefully make some sort of poll for this

A poll would be great.

But you need to track the right teams.

Some coins out there have strong team but no innovations at all

We need to see innovations different use for the coins. This is where the supernetwork imo would become a powerful crypto image.

I have 2 coins in mind right now Greenback ( which is trying to build a whole system around their coin) and Coin2 ( which has a specific purpose aiming at the gaming industry)

There are other coins which are worth investigating. My only fear with a poll is that the coins with the most investors might be voting only to see the price rise. Thats why you should be looking at the unique features and side of each of these coins.

I agree.
Something like a committee might be more approriate than letting everyone vote for every coin.

Until we get on-demand revenue share payments done, it would be on some regular basis, monthly or quarterly, using the NXT dividend mechanism. This is already in place and has been working for a while. valarmg has done an excellent service for all the NXT asset holders

Thanks for patientyl answering all our questions.
I could find only little information on the dividend mechanism you're talking about though.
Do i understand this correctly that you will initiate a payout and then everyone get's their share into their NXT accounts ?

Man I either want to sell my stake, or buy another, but there's so many freaking trolls around here, I'm not even game to send a PM.

You can pm me with an offer for 500 000 NODE Smiley

14:00 GMT is suggested as the start time
any objections to this time?
not sure of date, just trying to find the best time of day

In amongst all the twitter spamming trying to pump rumours about Ethancoin joining the supernet, I spotted one from the nxtcommunity declaring 5th September as being the ICO date. Is this correct?

I mean, they have a countdown clock and everything!

Did I miss a post where you went from the above to deciding to ninja the launch?

previous page announced: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=762346.msg8679376#msg8679376
in about a day and 6 hours it will start

So the 6th of september 12:00 GMT right ?
I am bad with timezones, it is supposed to be 14:00 GMT on Saturday
can someone verify if http://www.nxtcommunity.org/ is showing the correct time?

It is currently 6:33 GMT.
+ 1day and 6:26 makes it 13:00 GMT tomorrow.

Or am i completely dumb ?
I didnt set up the clock. If we are sure it is wrong I have to get it fixed

Pretty sure it's wrong Smiley

1537  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: NEMStake - Read here how to request it. on: September 05, 2014, 06:23:16 AM
If the redemption process stays as it is currently planned (some of us are on vacation so I'm awaiting approval) then this 2 week thing can be considered dropped and everyone will be getting their NEM at the sime time i.e. NEMesis.
1538  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SuperNET - ICO conducted by BTER + ... on: September 05, 2014, 06:21:28 AM
Is there an estimate on how many tokens one should purchase for it to make any sense ?
I imagine if someone owns only a very small number his share of the fees will be very small so I'm wondering what kind of number makes sense.
1539  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Crowdsale has begun[Updates & Discussion] on: September 04, 2014, 07:05:49 PM
***that whole phone discussion***

Just because someone steals my phone where my wallets happens to reside doesn't mean he has access to my funds. NEM wallets are encrypted and therefore he'd either need to brake the encryption or know your password - just like it would be with a brainwallet only with a brainwallet he wouldn't need your phone in the first place Wink
1540  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Crowdsale has begun[Updates & Discussion] on: September 04, 2014, 07:00:14 PM
Could we not use some to get the nem source Code peer reviewed by leading academic(s) in the field? If we want to be serious about this.. We need to do things properly and that would be a great step in the right direction. We could then summarise the report and have it published across the media and no one will be able to discredit the work of the devs
But NIS will be open source,  why waste the funds?
it's not a waste.. If you owned overstock would you just integrate a new type of crypto if it has not ever had a serious review done by at minimum 1 highly respected academic people in the area? I know I wouldn't even think about it it would be a straight up no. Doesn't matter how good the tech is.. If it hasn't been thoroughly checked over by a said person(s) then its not going anywhere serious long-term
If i were overstock i would find my own people to look it over for two reasons:  1. Better trust 2. To make sure the underlying technology will meet my needs.
good point..

Does anyone know how much it would actually cost to get the code peer reviewed?

I think you do a bounty kind of thing. Have some really really A+ coders (I know a few I'd stake my reputation on here for) do a peer / code review. Have those that do a meaningful review and give the best input / find most bugs get some larger portion of a bounty. You could also do some easy git analysis on code contribution (not lines of code!), but number of tests added and code cover of tests, and or bug fix / fixes for the open source project. I think if you made that plain you'd attract a ton of good devs that at least give you code feedback if not refactoring of code base. Do some sort of fixed schedule / payment table and use a portion of the auction stakes.

Edit: I'd help try to organize that if the community agrees.

Remember, bad launches, hard forks, and other security disasters will put the coin DOA. Security and stability of the coin is huge. It is an under appreciated aspect by all the folks screaming for a live block chain. Remember, this is why we unit test and don't just crank out shite code.

sounds great !
Maybe you and the gang can also push NCC Wink
