Yes, they should address this problem, they say bitcoin is decentralized but the exchange value against other currencies isn't.  Undecided
1522  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: declaring coins to the IRS? on: March 15, 2013, 01:05:38 PM
No tax to pay until you swap them for legal tender and then don't forget to remove your electricity costs, equipment costs, ASIC scam losses, to come to your final capital gains.

Need to to get them reballed for a perma-fix,

DIY Baking: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCxc0bxk_1U
DIY Reflow: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjWXExWM4RU
Pro Reflow: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dOJDRTXaQw
Pro Reballing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKZMsIlOFwY

baking/reflow lasts about 3 months in my experience.

I just put them on ebay as spares & repairs and lets someone else have the hassel fun of fixing it. You can get back 40% of value.

I never buy a "refurbished" GPU off ebay.  Wink

Speculation of course...

Yes, in hindsight I should have let them run at a loss.  Roll Eyes

"No credit. From Germany. Weird/random picture. Probably a copy/paste job. Looks legit"

Ask them to upload a photo with a piece of paper with their username written on it. Then at least you know it's in their possession.

They also say they will accept escrow which means they won't get paid until your say you received the goods.
1526  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: When are you shutting down your GPU rigs? on: March 15, 2013, 11:07:09 AM
I shut them down after reward halving and opened them again after BTC $30

The market is pricing bitcoin as though ASICs don't exist at $40-50 GPUs are still profitable.

The heat is useful in winter and as long as it covers the energy bills keep 'em running until you have an ASIC in your hand.

"It's being there for a while now (since the site redesign). They might still refund you if you ask."

No it hasn't, the evidence of that is on the thread "BFL Fuck Us Over Again"
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=150803.260

It was added when they changed the delivery schedule from mid Feb to mid March and that was done today/yesterday.

It does translate as "no refunds".

For those that don't know they built a prototype board and tested it (yesterday/day before), didn't say how it went (despite asking) but they did do a poll of how people would feel if there were less than 4/8 chips but reached MH/s targets, then Luke-Jr was put on a flight over there at BFLs expense.

Make of all that what you will.
1529  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: I need advice from a miner on: March 14, 2013, 10:03:07 PM
All you can get for 5BTC is a few graphics cards.

Might as well wait a week or two and see if BFL come up with the ASIC goods if it's for mining

but if you're looking for something that can be reprogrammed try..

40w/800 MH/s $1000/£600+tax Cairnsmore1 says 4 in stock (UK but they do ship to the US/EU select currency at top)
http://www.enterpoint.co.uk/shop/en/108-cairnsmore1-.html

and also there's

40w/860 MH/s $1200/€959+tax Spartan 6 USB-FPGA Module 1.15y says 4 in stock (German but they ship outside the EU in $ too)
http://shop.ztex.de/product_info.php?products_id=74&osCsid=vcap1tdhb232ggu0cs1njerm66

You don't pay tax if it's taken outside the country of origin, but you might get import duty your end.

Max Keiser has been pumping this thing for all it's worth this month.

That goes out on RT RT broadcast through 30 satellite and 500 cable operators to over 100 countries, 25 percent of all cable subscribers worldwide.

don't laugh I put it in the oven for 30 min@160 deg C.

I give it 3 months, hot sunny weather, and it'll be dead again. Baking never lasts.

You can get XL cases and XL-ATX motherboards with 7x PCI-E on.

http://motherboard.findthebest.com/l/284/MSI-Big-Bang-XPower-II

You'd still need risers for double height cards and probably have to mod the case to stick some on the sides or in the hard drive bays.

Failing that just buy a small Server Cabinet.

1535  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Legal topic - Norway on: March 14, 2013, 03:15:52 PM
Only LEGAL TENDER is recognized in the law. That's part of why fiat money has value.

You only have to comply with laws if you changing money into legal tender.

If you just trade Bitcoin -> PayPal -> Poker Chips etc. the regulations should be minimal.

But as soon as you add £ $ € symbols or equivalent prices that trade will be recognized by the laws and taxes of said currency.

"do any of you have ideas about if we use a super server to make it work"

Even the worlds fastest super computer Titan is just made out of graphics cards like every other non-ASIC person is doing.

Your question should be, "how can I get free electricity"  Tongue because all we are doing is turning electricity into currency.

Mine ran at half speed until I did that!  Huh

1540  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Difference Between Graphics Card Brands e.g. Gigabyte/Sapphire/XFX e.t.c. on: March 13, 2013, 10:58:13 PM
The only ones I had problems with are XFX they cut to many corners and make the fan/heatsink too small on their cheaper end models.

It's a ring heatsink that goes around the fan, but some times it's hidden behind a plastic cover, avoid those kind of coolers.
