1. wallet is stolen
Butterfly Labs has created a hard wallet where the private key is kept separate from the rest of the OS. Other than that use Ubuntu/Linux with encrytped user partition just for one thing your Bitcoin storage. Keep your coin clients under separate user accounts, and never mine where your client is. 2. there is a fork in the block chain, or major systematic problems with the whole coin system
Only seen it happen once, I didn't lose any coins, maybe mining pools lost some mining effort, it was fixed in less than 24hrs.

If your PSU has multiple rails one of the rails will be on the PCI-E 6/8 pin connector.
What I do is chop a molex off on an overloaded rails and wire it up to the PCI-E.

Thats another step which will make bitcoin rise in value even more this year!! There are so many places now starting to accept bitcoins i bet in 5 years time you could nearly do your groceries shopping with them!
Well, we aren't so far away from it. I think if bitcoin will do good then it should be way less than 5 years True, but this mostly applies to the USA in my opinion. I live in Ireland, EU, and over here i have yet to see a single place that accepts bitcoins as payment. Agree that in the other countries especially the US it probably will hit big much faster, but since ireland is usually 5 years or more behind implementing latest technology etc that is used in other european countries, 5 years is a very optimistic esitmate. I mean in 2008 the best broadband you could get here was like 10mb, now the best connection you can get is 100mb, while in most other EU countries that is wayyy more You can spend your Bitcoins at www.takeaway.com which allows you to order food/drink from many places in the EU, China & Vietnam.

R9 270 = 1x 6-Pin = 75W + 75W from the motherboard = 150W max.
HD 7870 = 2x 6-Pin = 150W + 75W from the motherboard = 225W max.
add 100W for your CPU/Motherboard/Memory/HDD
150+150+225+225+100 = 850W
This doesn't mean a 850W PSU though, it means 850W +12v Rail. A power supply can call itself 850W but may only have a 750W on the +12v rail so watch out for that.
R9 290 = 1x 6-pin = 75W + 1x 8-pin = 150W + 75W from the motherboard = 300W max.
150+150+300+100 = 700W

The highest intensity does leave the monitor laggy and unresponsive that doesn't mean your card has crashed though. It's just how it works.

Check Windows device manager and see in the onboard VGA has been assigned a driver. If it has, right click it, and select "disable", then reboot.
Another problem it could be is that your graphics card is an OEM model. If so you cannot use the generic AMD catalyst divers you have to use the drivers from your computer/card manufacturer. Try the driver disk supplied in the box, if that don't work try and download the latest one from your card manufacturer.

I used them. The 7850 is awesome go for it! I used twin fan 2Gb models and they were always cool and quiet.
Two are as powerful as a 7970 (2x1024 Stream processors) but it's only 2x 6-pin (2x75W) so are way lower power consumption!
Only the 7990 2nd Ed, (2x 8Pin) can touch them on power efficiency.

On bamt everything was fine, but i need to go on windows as i want to try underclock etc. There should be an Ati Control Panel in the BAMT menus. Anyway Windows... Make sure you graphics card is in slot 0 and has power cables. Check your motherboard manual, but it's usually the 16x slot nearest the CPU. Also disable the onboard graphics in the motherboard BIOS. Make sure you monitor lead is plugged in the graphics card and not your motherboard vga. Then it should work.

Just tell 'em you plugged it into you PC and it keeps switching off. You should get a replacement after just 3 weeks. What PSU make/model do you have? What are you loading it with? If it's a Platimax 1200 it might just be an overloaded rail. They have 6x 360W rails meaning you cannot load more than 360W per wire. Single rail PSU are much less hassle, because you don't have that worry, but you can melt the cables!

Got the fans replaced with 1800RPM/43CFM Arctic F9s, wow what a difference that makes! Unlike the Sunon 4500RPM I cannot hear them in the next room, never mind the floor above! Saved about 3W per miner too and I don't have to worry about the kids putting fingers in them! They don't cost much either, I got the Arctic F9's for sub £3/€4/$5, with a bulk buy deal on Amazon/eBay. The wire is a bit thin and fiddly though compared to the Sunons. 134GH Stack of Hex16B running under a dining chair nice and quiet.

Martin, not sure if BitFury chips are still in short supply or how much you pay for them, but noticed this.. BFSB sell Bitfury Chips for €19 (no stock) but they also sell BFSB H-card v1.2 €250 (instock) http://www.bitfurystrikesback.com/product/bfsb-h-card-v1-2/€250/16 chips = €15.62 a chip Not sure how much of a hassle re-flowing them off their 25GH board onto your 40GH board would be, but just an idea incase your deliveries are held up for chips.

My money would be on lack of power. Forgot to mention, I use a Corsair AX1200. Three cards run at 850W with slight undervolts. This should be fine for the 4 cards. From your own measurments.. (850W/3)x4=1133W 1133W/12V = 94.4A How many amps are on the 12v rail? 100.4? Leaves 10A. Not much wiggle room for something else on the motherboard demanding more power. My measurements would have been.. 8-Pin = 150W 6-Pin = 75W PCI-E Slot = 75W Total = 300W x4 = 1200W CPU/Memory/HDD = 100W Grand Total = 1300W

I would guess so.
It's only transferring the data between the 1x and 16x it's not actually being used in a USB3 port, and the power is coming via Sata to Molex.
As far as your motherboard is concerned it's just a card on a 1x PCI-E slot.

If you can only reach 80% of your promised target you just give 20% off the next purchase to compensate.

A dedicated ASIC will always beat an FPGAtoASIC unless you go one node lower. FPGAtoASIC is faster and easier to develop, gets you out before the competition, but costs more per chip. Just my suspicion. Not proof.

Someone please make a bitminter type client for p2pool
Really? If I make you a client you would mine p2pool? If you're not being sarcastic....yes! Do you think many other would? What type of hardware do you mine with? The "client" is just a guy over cgminer or bfgminer I can't remember which. I mine with a bfl. Plan to mine with a blackarrow or something in the future. GHash sells the bitcoins directly to investors which is a big draw to people who want to mine fiat. I'm using Bitminter and avoiding big pools because I like to spend in Bitcoins to help start a Bitcoin economy. If people only mine for fiat no Bitcoin economy will get off the ground. I also use P2Pools as mybackups, they need no account and I love getting virgin unspent coins, but the main problem with it is that it's frequent micro payments. You need a lot of hashing power to get it to pay out over the 0.001BTC dust level per block. BTW: www.p2pool.org is not the only option. Also check out http://p2pool.hostv.pl/ for a list of others.

Why are people drawn to GHash.io? Because they provide conversion of Bitcoins into fiat by selling hashing power to investors. Investing is bad for the Bitcoin economy though, we should be replacing fiat, by spending Bitcoins into circulation. How to stop big pools? Needs to be done on the protocol somehow. How about the bigger the pool the more Bitcoin dust it has to process? If people saw they were disadvantaged on bigger pools they'd be more inclined to switch to smaller ones. How to improve P2Pool? Payment every 24hrs? When I see micro payments it puts me off. You need a lot of GH to get 0.001BTC (above dust) payouts. This is one of the highest entry barriers to mining on a pool anywhere. Still I use it as my backup pools, because it requires no account, and you get virgin unspent coins with no history. BTW: www.p2pool.org is not the only option. Also check out http://p2pool.hostv.pl/ for a list of others.
