15261  Economy / Speculation / Re: Should i allocate 100% of my savings to bitcoin ? on: January 19, 2013, 09:33:38 PM
i voted yes  Tongue! I would never, I have two kids so i can't handle that much risk but ... if you have the balls it potentially VERY rewarding, but super risky ( especially now that bitcoin is pushing to a new all time high)

I recommend putting 50% in right away and keeping 50% on the side, if bitcoin drops alot, you can pick up cheap coins and lower your avg price.

make damn sure your wallet is secure ...

15263  Other / Off-topic / Re: Computer Users to Disable Java (Important News) on: January 19, 2013, 08:51:53 PM

Huh? I think you have no idea what you're talking about. Java is one the best languages out there, C# may be slight better designed. But it doesn't run on 100 platforms. And these securities issues, wasn't just a bitcoin site hacked because of Ruby on Rails? And the best online wallet runs on Java??? LOL.

I have always thought Java sucked... Isn't java an interpreted language and this is why it can run anywhere?
my view is that it all sucks balls, everything barely hangs together, the web-code is one half baked idea thrown on top of another, and its only getting more convoluted as time goes on.
Time for evolution to kick in and kill off alot of crap? why do i have a feeling its going to take millions of years  Tongue?
15264  Other / Off-topic / Re: Computer Users to Disable Java (Important News) on: January 19, 2013, 08:26:53 PM
 anyway lets all do it...
http://nakedsecurity.sophos.com/2012/08/30/how-turn-off-java-browser/

i normally never install java, but their was a site i wanted to see that needed java... so i was like fuck it why not... bad move  Tongue
15265  Other / Off-topic / Re: Computer Users to Disable Java (Important News) on: January 19, 2013, 08:23:51 PM
Anyone know if this stuff affects services running on Java, like Freenet?

i think the thing is, you should disable java because someone could write some very dangerous viruses / key logger, and just by visiting a site you could get infected, if you have java enabled just make sure you go to trusted places you should be fine.

can someone correct or confirm this ?

The point of this thread was to spark some minor discussion into what could be done about my past inappropriate behavior. You have come to add to the discussion and I thank you for that. I wish you the best of luck on future endeavors.

plea temporary insanity and all will be forgiven  Cheesy

no but seriously you show all the signs of a manic bipolar.
you appeared to have lots of energy even if you didn't sleep proper for weeks or months...
you were 110% sure you were right and everyone else was wrong ( for no good reason )
I'm sure you felt ontop of the world ( b4 you finally crashed )
and after hearing that interview with you and some dude talking about your bet ( can't find it anymore ) I'm sure you were on a mania high.

anyway that's my theory...

I don't want to make this thread into a speculation thread of my mental health, but I would say that I spread myself too thin, was unrealistic in my expectations and valuation of myself (delusions of grandeur perhaps) and that this experience was inevitable as I was due for a humbling, unfortunate that it was such a public one. I needed to be knocked down a notch, and I still need some time to get back on my feet, but I have not forgotten the experiences of the past year, making a show about bitcoin, a magazine about bitcoin, a service to sell bitcoins through SMS, an attempt at a device to use bitcoins. Looking back I am just disappointed in myself at how much I did, but how little actually got done. I'll apply myself to this first, then I'll start planning ahead more for doing something people can actually use.

never forget what happened, and recognize that the entrepreneurial blood in your veins is your gr8est strength and weakness. If you let the need to create / innovate interfere with your basic needs, sleep and relaxation, you will just lose control again. your defiantly not "normal", normal people don't drive themselves crazy working too hard on something they love... keep this in mind.

The above-linked video is variously reported as an audition for the television show <I>Armenia's Got Talent</I>, <I>Poland's Got Talent</I>, or <I>Russia's Got Talent</I> gone horribly wrong, a haplessly comedic "William Tell" act that ends with one participant taking an arrow straight through the head.  No such show exists, however (the set in the video curiously features only a generic sign reading "Talent" in English), and the clip is rumored to be a viral marketing campaign for the beverage in the red can which appears prominently in the video.

Note to new users: MNW is the worst scum this for has seen right after Zhoutong. DO NOT DEAL AT ALL WITH THIS GARBAGE.  If I ever see you in person I will spit you in your face. Do us all a favor and stay under the bridge. Your sockpuppet accounts are starting to stink.

Note to  new users : Maria is more reviled and less trusted around here than Matthew.
I tend to agree with you...

i think this is a classic case of "let he who is without sin cast the first stone"
so MNW had a manic episode, which lead him to inadvertently scam forum members... no one lost any money from the bet directly....
very little harm actually took place, and yet everyone went ape shit on this mentally unstable young man.

bra - fucking - vo
15279  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: January 18, 2013, 08:41:12 PM

A proper dump like we've seen in the past could easily take out everything down $13.  I'm waiting for that one, and the subsequent panic selling.   Grin

a dump down to 13 is not a bad bet but i wouldn't wait for panic selling after that....
any dump ( even one all the way down to 10$ ) will bounce back to 14 pretty fast
all thanks to limited supply Vs growing demand!  Smiley
the person dumping that much coinage all at once is either profoundly retarded generous, or trying to cause panic selling too let him buy back lower, which wont work, not till we are well over 17.
15280  Economy / Speculation / Re: why this rally? on: January 18, 2013, 05:02:28 PM
You'd do well to buy shares of Satoshi dice. Think of it as an investment of an investment. Bitcoins grew in value, and Satoshi dice did too. From 0.0048 - 0.006 now. That's a nice increase.

Indeed. 80% ROI in less 2 weeks but what's the next step Smiley

I would buy some shares of SD if it was not so difficult.

you can!

just go to https://www.havelockinvestments.com/index.php

they have a S.DICE market, the shares on their market are convertible to MPEX i think
