15366  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcment: Brand-new miner EMIC PowerModule - 5.65 TH/s on: January 14, 2015, 06:34:42 AM

Hello everyone bitcointalk.org.

My name is Michał Krawczyszyn and I'm founder of EMIC - European Mining Innovation Center (http://emic.com.pl). We are new here, but everyone started somewhere.

I would like to announce, that we started selling our first EMIC PowerModule miner in the pre-order.

A few words about EMIC PowerModule:

Progression of mining and mining equipment development is enormous. Seeing this, and taking advantage of this opportunity to take up the challenge to move mining to the next level. EMIC will be the first ever company to introduce 20nm ASIC chips to their miners.

Preliminary testing shows that it is possible to achieve hashrate above 6TH/s while keeping the power consumption about 1500W.
I'll get straight to the point. EMIC PowerModule revolutionize the mining. The most important for us, was that the cost of this device should be comparable to good quality computer (2000 PLN – about 600 USD in Poland). EMIC PowerModule’s effective hash rate is 5.65 TH/s +/- 5% and power consumption is 1400W.

Delivery of the first batch will take place in February 2015.

Price of one module: 2059 PLN (about 600 USD //23.12.2014)

More information can be found on the product page: http://emic.com.pl/en/product/emic-powermodule

A few words about EMIC:

These are not even the same building, yet this is what Michal claims his office to be located.

Office pics from his website deleted in 5...4...3... (I'm battin' a 1000 here).

First is the building in the front, where DACPOL company has its office. Second building is where are we located exactly (building 27, as in our address). Building is in the back so it is easier to find if you are looking for the front ona (26).

Graphical explanation for all malcontents.

Changed his Facebook profile yesterday.

Nice try, but that is not me.

The largest street in Warsaw extends all the way to the next town, through several other towns first to boot.

Here's a turn story. My grandparents and dad had to cross that big-ass street during WWII when they walked (literally) from Lithuania to Belgium to get away from the Nazis.

Yeah, and? Is this another proof that we are scam? Like all pictures you posted here? Still dont get which image/post or whatever already posted here is proof that we are scam. Cant understand this.

15371  Other / Meta / Re: Getting DDOSED ? on: January 14, 2015, 03:01:42 AM
Migration testing ended up running an import script on the server ended up taking up way too much resources on the server. We are figuring out a better way to not starve the production box. This wasn't because of a DDOS.
Hi,

was the forum under a ddos attack from someone ? I wasen't able to access the forum for about 30mn-1h . I was getting a Database error at the begginig saying "please try again. if you come back to this error screen, report the error to an administrator." for a while then that Gateway error which is known when ddos attack happens as far as I know

any Staff member can confirm that ? or members can confirm that It was really down and not just for me

Why are you running an import script on a production box? Kinda not profesional instead you should have had another server spinned up. Made that server a mysql read only slave and then run the import script off of that.

Dude, do you have any idea how much that would've cost going that route? It's not like this forum is being fixed via some dude being handed a million bucks or something, for there's a tight budget to take into consideration.
15372  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin RIP, the day bitcoin died- 3 January 2009 - 13 January 2015 on: January 14, 2015, 01:56:54 AM
Too bad Bitcoin is dead. As you can see here, no new transactions are being generated. I guess if I try to send all my bitcoins they will be stuck forever unconfirmed.

Just what I figured! blockchain.info is purposely doubling the time it takes for blocks to be discovered to try to increase the exchange rate. Meanwhile, BitPay is laying off essential employees (they're all essential), and Black Arrow and AMT Miners has almost refunded all their customers with the exception of the naughty ones, saved for last. Another saving grace is that BitStamp, based in the US, still has control of their customers' Half a Billion Dollars worth of bitcoins in cold storage where no outside hacker can get their GAW-like paws on them.

I literally keep an ongoing cup of coffee at my disposal from the time I wake to the time I go to bed, leaving a few swallows for when I wake during the night to wet my whistle after taking (or is it leaving?) a piss.

15377  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The bitcoin story for the average joe on: January 13, 2015, 10:45:10 PM
Hey PG, long time no talk!   Cheesy

What does pull-a-williams mean?  Tried googling it, but doesn't come up with anything obvious.

Try http://lmgtfy.com/?q=williams+%20%22no+suicide+note%22+%22hung+himself%22, or perhaps pull-a-Carradine is a better clue.

Step 1: Panic Sell: Quickly go to your exchange of choice (preferably one located in a country other than your own) and sell all your bitcoin. Don't even risk owning the smallest fraction of a coin. If you really want to commit to quitting, do it right and sell everything.

Step 2: Seek Validation on Your Favorite Bitcoin Forum: It is simply not enough to sell all your bitcoin. To ensure that you later don't have a "change of heart," it is required that you announce your departure. Regular bitcoin users also like to see who is leaving, so it is important for you to tell them. You won't believe how much strangers on the Internet care!

Step 3: Make Sure You Know Your Talking Points: People leaving bitcoin need to have a reason why. Make sure you have one in your pocket especially during step 2. Please choose one of these: "Price Volatility", "Centralized Mining", "Fixed Supply".

Step 4: Enjoy the Freedom from Bitcoin Shackles

Step 5: Do something else for awhile. Never pass up an opportunity to ridicule the idea of Bitcoin and those dumb enough to use it.

Step 6: Check back after six months, only to find that Bitcoin isn't dead after all.

Step 7: Check back again, only to find the price has inexplicably risen past your selling price. Complain bitterly, as the price continues rising relentlessly and inexplicably, about how "early adopters" get all the breaks.

Step 8: Buy bitcoin. Buy more bitcoin. Start dreaming of getting rich simply by buying Bitcoin.

Step 9: Put 90% of your net worth into Bitcoin. Make a post to /r/bitcoin about how you're in it for the long haul.

Step 10: Sit back or pull-a-Williams or pull-a-Carradine, then...

Step 11: Watch in horror as your "investment" drops by 50%, then 60%, then 70%.

Step 12: GOTO Step 1 (if you survived Step 10).
15378  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The bitcoin story for the average joe on: January 13, 2015, 10:42:07 PM
Having $0 money does not equal living on the streets. If you had previously bought a house, and some time after you find yourself with no money, the house doesn't simply vanish. You can still sell it and rent somewhere less expensive. Also, I assume you continue working, right?

Having $0 money means you can't pay or afford mortgage, bills, food, electric, internet, water, medical expenses, gas, dog, cat, turtle etc.  Which probably means foreclosure on your house.  It means you can't afford to go to work, because you can't afford train/bus fare.  It means you'll be fired from work.  Since you don't have internet, you can't look for a job.

Yup, pretty much stick to my cardboard box for now...

Notice I'm still wearing my work shoes.  At least those are still good if I can get an interview.

DAM YOU BITCOIN!!! Angry

A seasoned Bitcoiner would've found it funnier if the [Pattayan] homeless man was juxtaposed next to a three-prong fire hydrant.

15379  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The bitcoin story for the average joe on: January 13, 2015, 10:35:51 PM
Step 12. When Bitcoin crashes down to $0, go to Home depot get some quality rope, tie a nice fat noose around your neck, find a nice sturdy chair to kick under you.

P.S. - Morbid sense of humor, nobody please off yourself, life's way too important.  But if you invested 100% of your life savings without hedging, I guess it's an option... Lips sealed

During the interim, pull-a-Williams behind locked doors, making sure to not leave a suicide note.
15380  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitstamp hack bitcoins are now moving! on: January 13, 2015, 09:42:02 PM
This thread is a long list of conjecture. Let's change that to conspiracy. What if all of the major hacks in the last couple of years were clandestine government attacks to discredit Bitcoin and limit its use?

The Prism program searches the Internet for references to Bitcoin. They discover chatter about a weakness in security at a Bitcoin company holding customer funds. That information is turned over to the CIA for research. The CIA then determines if exploitation is possible, develops a plan and then presents the information to the NSA for final execution.

Before you laugh and discount the idea, remember the CIA has overthrown governments and placed puppet regimes in power. This would be like child's play for them and definitely not the most heinous thing they've ever done.

Remember when you told me to tell you...  Tongue
