Check your logs -- you must have some internet problem.

Sorry to hear that, just reformat Sad
1543  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: July 08, 2013, 04:00:18 AM
Both spi and I2c are supported by hardware on the raspberry pi, it's surprisingly easy to use.  Though must stuff is written in python which I hate.
1544  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Ann] US based Avalon ASIC chips and assembly: 4,600 remaining on: July 08, 2013, 01:25:03 AM
A lot of people ordered extras.  There may be a chance to buy/sell the unneeded extras to make full K16 boards.
1545  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: ASIC resale value on: July 08, 2013, 01:19:43 AM
Could a researcher develop software that uses SHA256 hashing for something like Folding@Home to make use of cheaply available discarded ASIC units?

no, not really
1546  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Ann] US based Avalon ASIC chips and assembly: 4,600 remaining on: July 07, 2013, 11:45:45 PM
The optimum cost depends on how many you ordered -- the K16 board is the most cost effective.

I'll never be happy with anything.  I am the majority of people on bitcointalk -- the most unhappy type of people around.  Grumble grumble.

Electrically there must be some sort of header and cable.  Physically there's a standoff.
1549  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New single ASIC miner board on: July 07, 2013, 07:07:02 PM
Back to the Avalon Single ASIC miner project. I read the datasheet and the communication protocol. And I have a question about the REPORT pins. Maybe, someone can help me with this.

Decoding the bits isn't the problem. But I have some concerns about the speed. The datasheet says that the duration for one bit is at least 250ns. Does anybody know if the speed of the report interface is always the same and always at the maximum speed of about 4 MHz? Or depends the speed on the clock settings? Maybe it is the clock frequency divided by R?! Would be nice if anybody has some infos about that!

Thanks,
Andreas

Check out the latest posts in BKK's thread -- he's finding that it's tied to the clock setting.  (If I read it correctly)

Yeah random.org should have been used Tongue

How would random.org be used? The op could say "Yes I used random.org and the number was 213" (which could be a sockpuppet's number). Is there a way to verify that random.org was used?

BTW, the strategy used by the OP is not random at all (the output is not uniformly distributed). In fact it should be easy to prove that  there are certain numbers that *could never have been generated*.

Does it matter?  It's his BTC to give away.  Read the haiku above.

I wonder if it's possible to do a minimal parts setup without the nor gates and just use the capture compare or interrupt on change pins to read out from the ASICs.  Not sure if they're fast enough to grab it bit by bit though.  It would be cool to have something very DIY for people with left over single chips.

Congrats to the winner.  Thanks for the chance.
1553  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: ASIC resale value on: July 07, 2013, 02:16:09 AM
They have no other uses.  Everyone who is buying them factors this into their calculations.
1554  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin-qt multiple wallets and transferring between? on: July 06, 2013, 04:26:52 PM
To send coins from wallet A to wallet B just send them from wallet A to an address in wallet B.  You may find it easier to use different clients for the wallets.
1555  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: July 06, 2013, 02:57:50 AM
That's a really interesting communications protocol.
1556  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: July 06, 2013, 01:42:23 AM
I don't even know where the avalon datasheets are.  What is the bare minimum you need to communicate with one?  Raspberry Pi has hardware i2c, SPI, serial, and just regular GPIO.  Obviously you need a regulator and a 32MHz clock.  What else?
1557  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC $66, seems everyone is dumping? on: July 05, 2013, 07:07:19 PM
I wish it were easier for me to buy at this price.  Closest localbitcoins person is not very close.

I'm not sure where you are located, but I heard OKPay wasn't working with US residents.  I haven't tried, though.

After you get some don't lend them to anyone.  Do a lot of research before spending any.
