I don't have the cash right now, but I'll still put my 3 share votes in for a fund raiser. I don't mind reinvesting enough hashing power to cover the expenses even if it means a longer wait time for a payout.

How come I see septic tank pumping companies actually starting to take this as valid forms of payment?

Shit is a huge business.

Thank you for all the warm welcomes! And yes I know, it's a huge speculation and I'm quite wary of scams. I can usually spot them a mile away. Smiley
1549  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin taxes on: September 22, 2013, 09:23:56 AM
There are two types of taxes you need to worry about with Bitcoin.

The first is regular income tax. If you earn bitcoins by mining or doing any other kind of work, you must declare the market value of your bitcoins as earned income whether you sell them or not.

So you are telling that if i draw a great painting, i must decrale its market value as earned income, whether i sell it or not?
No, because that painting isn't payment for services rendered, which is what mined bitcoins are. They are the payment that miners receive for securing the Bitcoin network. If you receive anything as a payment for services or any other kind of work you did, that's income and you have to declare it.

Bitcoins are a token like a stock. Until the token is sold there is no tax levied. They do fall under capital gains taxes.

For example if your employer pays you in stocks as well as salary, only your income is declared under regular income taxes. Until you sell the stock there are no taxes generated since they fall under capital gains. Bitcoins are no different.

the better poll would have been witch bitcoin miner company is the most trustworthy.

im really into the design of the BFL miners, i dont like the companys functioning tho!

hardly any of them have released their product yet, as far as i know. can anyone tell me witch companys already shipped some?

KnC looks like they are about to ship their first batch of miners this month in fact. Unless they are very good liars they've kept us updated with everything that's going on.

Everything these guys have done has been above board as far as I'm concerned. I am responsible for a small group buy for one of their Mercury machines which they don't offer anymore, but I should get it in October.

eBay has some good prices on block erupters at the moment. Get them for around 21 dollars each.

I'm new to these forums as a registered user, however I have lurked for several weeks. Looks like a good community, I hope to get to know you.

I'm a self taught computer repair technician, however I don't do that by trade, too much cursing and shouting especially at name brand laptops that refuse to play nice when trying to install an OS, so I make my living by other means. My main motivation for registering here is to participate in group buys of hashing power, and I have a few opinions to contribute.

*edited for clarity.
