1541  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are you using trading indicators? on: March 11, 2022, 03:22:03 PM
There are times when I've turned on/had indicators default loaded and they do look like they be used to find where resistence may be in some cases but I don't think they're very accurate.

You're better off drawing lines of support and resistance and backing up your drawings with indicators if you're just starting out (also don't use futures until you're confident and have done spot or paper for a while).
1542  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin ATMs forced to shutdown in the UK on: March 11, 2022, 03:13:20 PM
That's the thing though the fees are already high as they are right now, increasing them would not attract more users, especially if they're going to enforce KYC. Why would anyone (aside from tourists maybe) use them anymore when exchanges are offering way lower fees.

This indeed a very good point. Under a certain amount the KYC may still not be necessary (and where some will pay an even higher premium for their privacy), these machines may indeed get to the point they'll have no "customers".

I didn't think they had many customers anyway. A lot of the bitcoin atms in the UK are just randomly sat in shops in city centres so they probably have low overheads and I'd also probably consider a bitcoin atm to be more of a toy.

That being said, I'm pretty sure currency converters still exist where you can put up to $10000/€10000 into a machine and it'll spit out gbp for you - without kyc and those are normally in supermarkets.
1543  Economy / Speculation / Re: What do you think the effects of soaring prices and fiat depreciation is on BTC? on: March 11, 2022, 03:06:42 PM
I think volatility of every market is going to increase a lot and that'll be passed on to btc whenever the stock market (or commodities like gold) crash - if they do.

Bitcoin will probably not maintain its value with the dollar unless salaries and other incomes people receive do (if people have to earn more due to inflation - and many will be making gmoney off natural resources around about now - quite a bit of those funds might end up going into btc and other investments).
1544  Economy / Economics / Re: Donation to Ukrainian people through Airbnb service on: March 11, 2022, 02:56:54 PM
I know I've seen people on social media claim to have done it but I think it's better to give to organised humanitarian attempts still as they'll likely be able to demand more efficient prices for necessities their citizens need.
1545  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Bitcoin wallet suddenly activates after 11 years on: March 11, 2022, 02:52:55 PM
I think if satoshi were wanting to let go of their funds, this is probably how they'd do it (just send smaller fragments of bitcoin over a longer period of time to sell it off).

There were quite a few other people mining bitcoin at the time satoshi did though too and it would seem more likely that its one of those miners (since randomly discovering a wallet makes more sense than someone who's been quite silent returning).
1546  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin & California on: March 10, 2022, 01:29:05 PM

So this could really challenge the US constitution, so we will see how far this can go and who is going to win in this battle.

Is there much opposition to something like this happening and allowing businesses and consumers over there to not trade in dollars directly? I don't even think banks would be against it because they could still become a useful intermediary for some people.
1547  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Happy to start my crypto journey but I need a wallet on: March 10, 2022, 01:23:00 PM
Some altcoins have their own forms of electrum too.

Without knowing what altcoins you're wanting to store/buy it makes it harder to give recommendations (eg some hardware wallets don't have many coins but they have a lot of the major ones).
1548  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How has trading been for you during this Ukraine and Russia war on: March 10, 2022, 01:19:42 PM
The market just seems to reach target prices faster when volatility gets high.

For a few minutes yesterday, I had no idea where anything was going because a few of the moved were quite abnormal but aside from that it's just taking less risk in each trade since you can take more trades anyway.
1549  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What happened to my motivation on: March 10, 2022, 01:13:23 PM
I don't think you can rush motivation and expect it just to randomly come back.

Find something interesting to look up to do with crypto and go from there though whenever you do get some motivation/want to find more.
1550  Economy / Economics / Re: Mortgage and war on: March 09, 2022, 02:20:50 PM
This is functioning in hindsight quite a bit. The time to sell property in a war zone is not when it's already in one.

Countries are just going after oil fields again anyway atm, decide if you've got an oil field near you and then work out whether you need to move based off that.

The Ukrainian conflict has so far been a proxy war for the allies of both sides, if it remains that way it'll stalemate worse than the one in Georgia.
1551  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading should be supported by goverment on: March 08, 2022, 04:59:27 PM
Also should be some kind of reward or insurance kind of system if you lose you dont lose your own funds but they are free this way more people want to trade.

This feels like you're explaining paper trading or demo accounts but expecting them to give you any profits you make and forgive any losses - this sounds like a bad idea, especially when the $1k/month can pay for things more important.
1552  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cleaning the money of support on: March 08, 2022, 04:55:43 PM
I know that there is Chipmixer which sends me chips that was created in the past. I like the principle of this site, but how can I be sure, that they really don`t save the data, and if the site will be hacked and everything revealed, the chips can be connected to me?
IIRC, chipmixer does not store sessions for longer than 48 hours, so in case of a hack or breach, your data is not available to be leaked.
For extra privacy, you can use it over the For browser and use a .onion address to access the website.

It became a week but you can destroy your data whenever you want on the site (eg once you've received your funds).

OP is there a reason you want to donate the funds? There might be ways it becomes easier to help them if you live in that country (potentially even while remaining anonymous).

ChipMixer definitely have the strongest recommendation for a centralised mixing service here and it's unlikely logs are kept but funds you send to them will look like they've been mixed (I'm not sure if this is a problem though on your end if they kyc exchange is based in your country it might be).

There might also be the option, if you contact the charity themselves, that they'll be able to offer you advice on how best to donate to hide your funds (maybe buying things for them over tor while hiding your details or by sending them smaller amounts of crypto - still mixed - but harder to trace).

There might also be ways you can donate on other systems such as the lightning network, which is a lot harder to trace.
1553  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk accounts - Ukraine on: March 08, 2022, 01:20:00 PM
yes.

But again, I'm not that tech savvy to discuss it on a technical level. maybe it's not needed at all. I just suggested a discussion.

Theoretically not impossible; but if Putin wants to spread some propaganda, he'd focus on the likes of Facebook/Twitter/Reddit/Instagram/TikTok/etc, not some super niche early 2000s-style online forum.

Bitcointalk isn't the place where propaganda can really get much power anyway.

Allowing discussion on propaganda is, especially with the more personal Russian ones, quite a good way to destroy it anyway.

The propaganda Russia releases speaks of a country split apart by other entities (even though it allowed itself to split and most of the splits brought on democratic systems - you can have problems with democracy but dictatorships are definitely worse).
1554  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen to the Bitcoin network if Russia blocks access to the internet? on: March 08, 2022, 01:09:49 PM

Since there will be the main chain and a side chain, would it be possible for some evil people to double spend or try to manipulate because of the lack of communication between the two chains? Previously when china miners shutdown their system, there were no fork problems  Huh

The chains would hopefully be made incompatible so this couldn't happen but it likely wouldn't anyway (the Russian chain would remain quite a bit behind).

If the forms are left as compatible main et chains though, the Russian version would not exist once it gets reconnected with other nodes and all of their transactions would be removed from the chain (though there's a chance someone with an archive would be able to push them all into confirming on the main chain).

If Russia disconnects itself from the internet then I think they'll face a lot of negative consequences (not only with bitcoin but with engineering and other advancements too). If they leave even a tiny part of their Internet open and accessible though, it'll probably end up being used by a lot more and in a lot of ways Russia wouldn't be expecting (like how the great firewall of China doesn't really work that well).
1555  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: It seems that more people taking crypto trading as full time job on: March 07, 2022, 07:03:30 PM

I heared use orders go in with 10x leverage and add order before liq price but first find out how much the coin can rise or fall.
But to short coin they say over 15-20% in current market is all ready a lot people lose their minds when they see green but it all about numbers...ask urself can this coin can go over 20% on current market conditions? Brb not so make the right and logical estimations

It's a bad idea to start releveraging your positions. Put your liquidation price far enough away so it's a price you don't expect to be hit (or has a chance greater than 1 in your leverage time 2 - eg to set something at 10x leverage there should be at least a 1 in 20 chance you get liquidated).

It's not fully about whether something will go somewhere though it's how likely it will and won't if you're going to try to trade that way and how likely it is you'll end up longing a top or shorting a bottom (this is generally where tecgnicla analysis/support v resistance is handy).
1556  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: It seems that more people taking crypto trading as full time job on: March 07, 2022, 06:49:57 PM
Using signals is not great for trading because, the more people that follow them, the more chance they have of becoming pump and dump schemes at least.

I think it's a good side income and I know a lot of people that have gone into trading or asset management type jobs full time, I don't think it's as successful that way though and would be more stressful than something you can just set and leave.

Also futures trading is not a good place to start, you need to work out the kinks in strategies on spot markets to work out the best way to avoid losses (even if you can't make much money in spot, you also can't make high losses).
1557  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying BTC vs Mining it on: March 07, 2022, 02:34:00 PM
I wouldn't invest in mining while everyone's talking about crypto too, this is something to wait on when it becomes more stable on price and stops making news (by about a year after then). If you don't and the price goes up, your miner will likely be mining less in terms of btc.

Buying is the best option for bull markets imo as it locks in the price and gives you a fair and certain amount of bitcoin. Mining is only very profitible in bear markets when the price has adjusted and become more stable/optimistic for growth.
1558  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beginner needs urgent help on: March 06, 2022, 02:50:18 PM
There's no need to rush into things here so you're better off taking everything at your own pace.

This place is a forum, you're better off treating it as such and just replying to things you find interesting when you come across them. I assume there are guides to get people accustomed to forums if you're not used to posting on them but finding threads you want to interact with is probably the hardest part (then all that's left is finding something interesting/useful to reply with).
1559  Other / Meta / Re: Why was self-moderated topic feature disabled? on: March 06, 2022, 02:36:00 PM

My problem is not here, topic is no longer self-moderation when I brought it back to reputation.

It used to not do this and it kept being filed as a bug report or complained about because people would take a self moderated topic made outside of meta/scam accusations, move it to one of those boards and then move it out whenever they had a problem with it to quickly delete posts they didn't like.
1560  Economy / Speculation / Re: If Russia goes full Bitcoin adoption on: March 06, 2022, 02:32:18 PM
Most wealthy Russians without international investments will probably have seen about 99%+ of their wealth eroded away in the time since the start of their government's occupation in Ukraine. They can use bitcoin now but they'll just be locking in that lower value of their net worth.

I doubt the West will ban bitcoin but I could imagine wealthy people attempting heavy price manipulation (and I don't think I'd be displeased to see that if the Russian government or its allies did turn to use bitcoin).

There's already reports Russia are going to find it hard to sell their gold now though and they've already found it hard to sell oil.
