1541  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fourth alt coin thread last three got oversized. on: May 26, 2017, 01:58:21 AM
same.... I am still blown away by my daily profitability on my personal miners (the ones I don't profit split)...

The snowball effect is in full force....  Henry's one machine buys 2 used 1080's a month.  That's some damned good growth.

My altcoin trading account last night hit all of my sell orders for my big holdings aside from 2 coins;  and Im all in with the .06 on my exchange account on low value coins that have yet to blossom.  They can't ever get cheaper, so ANY movement is a big increase for me.

I still play a few day trades now and then when I feel like sitting at a casino;  but I definitely (so far) earn way more with my miners and have two friends working with me right now to build them rigs like the last 1080 rackminer I did.   The 1K+/mo is too tempting to many =)

Even if BTC tanks to > 1500;  I always pay outright for my hardware, and consider it "paid off" when bought, and Ill still be making plenty of profit, so the future looks bright indeed.

What happens when ETH goes POS;  I personally think It won't be as bad as i have imagined.

1542  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fourth alt coin thread last three got oversized. on: May 26, 2017, 12:43:23 AM
yes;  8 sucks donkeyball$.  Plain and simple.   Another Vista/Me, if you ask me.

Win 7 is useful, and doesn't fail... yet...

Win10 is pretty solid;  but once you get past the need for auto-updates, etc... all that phil mentioned.

I wont be using win10 on my "off the grid/satellite" mining locations I am working on.  Cellular connections are not data friendly;  and having a whole farm on a cellular connection try and process updates is retarded (so far the PC-PC on LAN update sharing has done d!ck for saving me some bandwidth every month).
I have finally worked on a huge group of IP range bans, and other firewall/hosts filters to prevent machines on win10 from updating.  One trick is to keep only a few hundred Mb free to not make it possible for it to even download them....

But, in locations where data count is going to matter,   I can; and will not use 10 for that reason.

Otherwise its my first choice honestly.
1543  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hardware question - 775 mobo for multi gpu set-up? on: May 25, 2017, 08:52:19 PM
thanks for the replies guys. I've also been reading on dummy plugs. is it an issue with 775 mobos to have dummy plugs on gpus which aren't connected to a monitor?

no problem on linux with nvidia
on windows you need one gpu connected to monitor

If you are using the PCIE 1-16x slot for GPU;  disable the onboard.   Trust me.  Nothing but heartache.

The socket 775 Mobo's are fine.  I have even used the first gen AMD X64 motherboard/CPU from an old dismantled name brand home pc.

As for the issue with a monitor needing connected;  that's dependent on the driver or GPU itself.
I have never heard of the OS itself causing this to be an issue.

I have personally never once had a nvidia > 6 series card ever need a monitor or dummy plug plugged in for the miner to boot and operate correctly.  I only have an issue if its my home gaming PC with multiple GPU's, and I left a monitor unplugged when I booted;  it didn't want to pick up my monitor as primary unless it was on the GPU populating the PCIE 16x slot #1 for some reason... but my monitor is always plugged in, so no issue there.

I have only heard of this issue with AMD, and specifically RX series, though it may encompass more than just those.
1544  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: High temperature on: May 25, 2017, 08:23:45 PM
75C isn't high temperature at all.
While I agree that such an increase under that condition is peculiar, it shouldn't be worrisome.

I'm worried about the fans getting used up much faster for no apparent reason. I'm curious if others have encountered something similar and whether or not they found a solution.

Whats happening is your GPU is lightening its processing load on the mining, and trying to balance out for the video rendering...  this in turn, is making it not work quite as hard as if it were just mining.  I know AMD's processors are arrange differently than Nvidia, so this is the first i've heard of this type of thing personally.   I have a machine the mines that I use daily, and even game on while its mining.  I can even run a nvcaputre recording program at the same time as well.  I get about 1/3-1/2 the hashrate that I normally get when not playing games.

Anything under 80* is fine honestly;  I typically (during hot summers) put my GPU's at a fixed 75% fan speed and the GPU's usually hover at an acceptable level.
1545  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [DIY]Cheap way to control 2 PSU in a rig on: May 25, 2017, 08:18:06 PM
FYI, the best way to link two PSU is to simply connect the PS_ON line (I believe grey?) between both PSU's.  They will both get the power-on line pulled low at the same time... so it should fix the rebooting/power off issues.

For issues with the PSU not turning on fast enough;  just be sure the PSU with the slower switch-on time is connected to the mainboard of the PC motherboard (if using in that config).

If one of the PSUs is just powering video cards you do not need to reset it when you reset the PSU powering the board.
This is also correct.  The +12V will not backfeed into the mainboard keeping it on or causing ghosts;  the PSIE power plugs pretty much only feed the CPU die and the memory directly (for the most part).
1546  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fourth alt coin thread last three got oversized. on: May 25, 2017, 01:31:13 AM
Am mining Skein with 1 each 1080ti, 1080, and 980ti.

Alexis miner:

ccminerAlexis78.exe -r 0 -a skein -o stratum+tcp://skein.mine.zpool.ca:4933 -u 1CHNWD6KFsVgfGf3jEKLx5N3MJCp1oGRon -p c=BTC -i 25

got home from work at 3:30 pm and found the miner had shut down around 6 am.

odd...

First off, you should try this to see if anything changes:

Code:
ccminerAlexis78.exe -i 25 -a skein -o stratum+tcp://skein.mine.zpool.ca:4933 -u 1CHNWD6KFsVgfGf3jEKLx5N3MJCp1oGRon -p c=BTC,skein,stats

I know its a minor change, but may have something to do with it.
1547  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining in virtual computers on: May 24, 2017, 04:16:53 PM
if you could, lets say.... write a program to take over citrix's virtualization system... its feasible.

But first; look into what the first "botnets" in mining were... and see how they were treated.... (like a disease)

If you mine on a VPC, you not only have to calculate the hardware for the os host, on top of the mining process....
1548  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining Digibytes on: May 24, 2017, 04:14:11 PM
Guys sorry to intrude with something slightly off topic but im very new to mining
Is it a high electricity bill likely to happen also for digybite miners?

the bill is denoted by the power draw of your GPU generation........ mostly.
1549  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Two GTX 1070s mining on Nicehash. One is 22% faster. How? on: May 24, 2017, 04:12:59 PM
how did you clock the gpus?

msi afterburner?

If all else fails yea I will swap the cards and see.  I did use MSI afterburner to exactly match specifications, but left to its own the Zotac was almost identical in temp/clock/load already according to gpu-z and afterburner. (zotac was 1 degree cooler BUT only 67% TDP vs 92% for Asus)

I also swapped risers just in case.  No luck there either.  I have just enough room to actually install the zotac on the board, I might try that also.

But even if Zotac is a lesser brand (which honestly it feels really well made), all things being equal it should not be such a dog.  BTW I am using the same miner mining the same pool on both systems BTW, and the 1060s are running at the same speed on both.

I feel like I am missing something somehow, but... I dunno.

I believe it's GPUz that has the "ASIC quality" test?   That could also play a part... but 20% a large percentage.

Ill note on a miner that was too hot running mixed FE and aftermarket coolers;  the FE cards got lower hashrates... once cooling as adjusted they lifted back up again...

so its seeming like heat is your issue.... you gotta ventilate them pretty well.
1550  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Two GTX 1070s mining on Nicehash. One is 22% faster. How? on: May 24, 2017, 03:39:35 PM
OK this just bugs me and I need to ask.  I have 2 rigs that mine.  Most of the cards are gtx 1060s, but each rig has gotten a new gtx 1070.  An Asus 1070 something gaming card, the other A Zotac 1070 Amp edition.  Both are factory overclocked and boast almost identical specs.

Why would the Asus average 400 sols/s Equihash, and the Zotec only 325 Sols/s?

I mean that is a huge difference for a card that is running at the same same GPU clock, same mem clock.  The only difference is the zotec is connected using a PCI riser.  But I have never noticed them cause performance issues before.  Drivers up to date, both on gen 6 intel i series processors, systems are spec'd out similarly.

Thanks for your thoughts, because I am perplexed...

ASUS VS Zotac... I see a difference in quality already (IMHO).

Swap cards between systems and re-test....  see if they change places.

*edit* Temps could also play a key role in this as well;  one case does better at exhausting heat, etc.
1551  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ROI question on mining rigs on: May 24, 2017, 03:37:57 PM
My earnings on zpool speak for themselves via the previous links for my 1PHSD address, or even the 1K address you quoted (ignore the gigantic spike in my last 24hr payout; it was a donation)....  The error you speak of is directly related to the spread between coins buys/sells on the marketplace and volatility therein.   Notice how most coins swing by ~20% Roll Eyes

I see my payout pending line fluctuate with the vary coins I hold on exchanges and am mining (AUR, DGB, etcetera)... so I have found where it comes from myself.  I challenge you to do the same and see the exact correlation.  Just because before the coin sold it was valued at something, doesn't mean people are paying that for said coin;  buy orders are typically under, and not always 1 satoshi under.

To the 2nd reply above,

I use windows;  Just download the latest driver, and used the alexis78 version.   Easy as pie for the layman to set up; and using the nemosminer package you can download the latest miner apps in one shot.  You can use his batch file, or one of mine.. they all have different uses and work differently depending on what one you use for which feature you like best.
1552  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fourth alt coin thread last three got oversized. on: May 24, 2017, 08:38:08 AM
Anyone else having problems with zpool returning invalid job ID and not mining? had 6 hours straight of that while sleeping.   Huh

What algo?

What GPU?

What miner app version?

post your batch file as a code snippet and ill take a peek given all the info Wink
1553  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Last month more GPUs went online than entire combined GPUs during Litecoin days on: May 24, 2017, 04:49:07 AM
if you ask me...

"when the bubble pops" I.E. when all the sheep have to move their herd  Roll Eyes ....

Multi algo profit switching will reign far superior profits.  So whomever has the most versatile GPU farm (best overall hashrates in all algos, not just one or two taken into account) will reap the most rewards.

Multi algo mining was most profitable for me when altcoin mining was in its huge slump.   When it started picking up, I started locking down on the most profitable algo for my GPU type/generation at the time.   Which is where i'm still at right now =)

Pointing the entire farm to Nicehash ZEC for a week of bliss.....

I am speechless what people pay to rent equihash....

I wish I have a massive 1080Ti farm....

I am  50-50

zec nicehash

skein zpool

I am doing 110 usd a day. In the garage.

The solar array is chugging along.

The 1 ½ r4s are in my friends office.

I would have to say  this has been the best stretch ever for my mining.

BTC has crossed the 2300 mark.

Im finally back to >0.5/mo on my personal machines at home...  Haven't seen this kind of number since BTC was ~200....

I almost wish I had not spent that $$$ on my surgery recently but rather on a miner instead;  I would have been able to pay for 2 surgeries by now if I had....

Greetings,
my balance has been above .01 for two days now, still no transfer, how come?
http://zpool.ca/?address=1ki2MRXwDj19ZCgx9Latajc8LVJ8PR78a
Thanks.

Total unpaid is un-confirmed.

"Balance" is all funds that have sold and cleared on the exchange and ready to payout.

Looks like you'll get one on the next payout or the one after.

always glad to lend a hand... its what i'm most proficient at in life I think....

If worst case comes around; follow phil's route and find MB's that have 4x PCIE slots (any combination of 1x-16x) and just hook up 4 cards cause I doubt there will be any issue at all with lane addressing;  or any older 4 by 16x slot motherboard like the 1st gen i7 boards so you don't need risers at all  (as long as they aren't bigger than 2 slot like the evga non-ref cards are)... cause they are relatively inexpensive as a MB/ram/CPU combo second hand.   Many of my miners are on this platform.
1557  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Are you mining with older generation Nvidia cards? on: May 24, 2017, 03:17:18 AM
For free, the 780 should be worth messing with if you have spare power capacity available (I don't right now, which shapes my thinking some, but that will change next month when I start getting moved into a place with a lot more electrical capacity).

Not real good by current standards on efficiency, but it's only 2 generations old so it should be profitable for quite a while.

For me only having one power line reaching my home miners;  I have to watch my wattage consumption;  so Ill be prepping a microatx box and dropping these up in SF cause 500W will earn a #@!$ more for me at home than these two cards;  but they are getting put to use promptly!  Especially being an 80 series;  They hold up quite a bit longer =)
1558  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NemosMiner-v1.7.3 multi algo profit switching NVIDIA miner for MPH & ZPOOL on: May 24, 2017, 03:13:33 AM
Howdy fellas,
is there any downside for using Cuda 8.0 with Pascal cards and ccminer?
Should I downgrade to 7.5?
Thanks.

I never found issues with 8.0 myself;  just on using it with the older cards.

Pascal cards worked fine so far for me with it.
1559  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Are you mining with older generation Nvidia cards? on: May 23, 2017, 04:59:28 AM
Food for thought:

I just got gifted 2x gtx 780 ref cards.

They are 250w tdp each.

I plan to plug them in and test em out tonight.

Free hash is free hash.

It can vary wildly based on market swings for profit switching; but it does it based on what it can actually get or what the market sees....  which is much different than a site that bases its data on exchanges that the pool doesn't use, and more importantly the analytical speculations... which adds a lot more error.
