Why not use Scrypt as intended.  Scrypt with default variables has beyond horrible performance on GPUs.  Litecoin developers modified it to make it roughly 128x less memory resistant (using only 128KB total).

Generally rolling your own crypto ends badly.

what are the scrypt default variables?

i've noticed that, it's a cheap shot people are using against coins.
1563  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altering a coin after deploy on: July 30, 2013, 11:00:52 AM
as thorough as we try, it's very difficult to manage that. Most coins are built using the bitcoin base, which was initially cpu mined. The advent of gpu made mining faster but the code did not evolve accordingly. Now that everyone has a gpu the algorithms find it hard to regulate the generation of coins.... and to worsen things we witness wild swings in hash rate, in the excess of +200mh in 20 minutes in some cases.
i tought it's going to be hard that's why i wondered  if changing the source itself to be a viable solution. The spikes in hashrate probably will diminish over time as it gets a solid base.

that i'm afraid is wishful thinking, none of the alts have gained a solid miner base save for LTC. Even that is now being affected by coinwarz and coinchoose + cryptoswitcher.
Now there are things like multi-mine. do some research, you'll find that the rapid changes in methods are outpacing code.

keep pushing for cryptsy please. We need the interest of other people

Join me on cryptsy, user root1484. The more we talk about it and show activity the more likely and quicker it is to be added.

mine is synced, but i'm guessing this is due to there being very few mining. I'll be looking at the diff code tonight and offer my idea later.

Spots releases spots  an hour or two after requesting a copy and paste on the bctalk forums and realizes he should have premined more. - Barwizi Coin
Spots wants a second slice of the cake and gets r3wt to copy and paste a second coin. R3wt wants premine so the mine for 30 minutes and then release.
In all the excitement r3wt forgets that source and github are essential and leaves Gascoin out to dry.

Your ignorance astounds me.

Main News

We've had some of the most ludicrous launches to date lately, GAS coin claims a new record with 4 second block orphanage.

Neocoin is topping the charts with no source code and mis-behaving clients, after the "partners premine".

Gamecoin has a new unofficial Client that was released earlier but a quick check of the stats shows it is barely being mined, diff is 0.04117086 with nethash @ 747895, could this be a sign of failure? Or are miners unaware?

HOBO seems to be gaining pace, hashrate has been rising at a steady pace. Considering the individuals who have taken an interest in it, it seems headed for success.

Financial News

The recent introduction of a slew of new alt-coins to the cryptsy roster has seen a varied responses from the community, miners in possession of the  new coins have applauded the move and have since begun dumping. The addition of the new coins has however seen the prices of most other alts plunging as traders rushed to have a slice of the new pie.

The Mt.Gox speculation has begun dying down as the excitement of an LTC posting is waning. Citing a drop in price, miner have become cautious of a major dump, this follows revelations of individuals holding as much as 500k of the second most popular crypto.

Sports news

In sports, it seems the match between Spots and Nuggets has seen some changes. With a new client released for Nuggets, spectators are watching with mild interest as the devs and supporters battle it out for dominance. It seems the race has become about being listed on Cryptsy first. Commentators have speculated on the possibilty of them being added simultaneously, thereby taking the race to the market.

Weather report

The recent winds of change have slightly cleared the air. After the Disaster of Hurricane ShitClone we are left with only scattered downpours.

I see a bright future here, please contact the Steam team, since they have open sourced with Linux, perhaps they can go a bit further by accepting GME as payment and even encourage developers to allow GME generation and use in-game.

1579  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Noirbits Update required Improved algos !!!! on: July 28, 2013, 03:59:07 AM
we'll have to develop a resistance to coinchoose/coinwarz and multipools. Perhaps a readjust that pushes diff up sharply if 5 blocks are solved in under 2 minutes, by a factor of 5? that should instantly kick off the multipools. Then if a block is not solved in 20~30 minutes difficulty reverts to previous level?

Yeah, the core idea in the suggested solution is to give up on fixed retarget intervals. Every block becomes a potential retarget point depending on how fast/slow the last N blocks get found. N needs to be picked so it is high enough to compensate variance, but small enough to react to network spikes.

i think thats great, lets have a super quick diff adjust, quick to rise and quick to fall, it will force multipool and crypto switchers to make a decision. if we make adjustment every 3 blocks with ridiculous rises and immediate falls, it'll rid us of them.

You should just edit your main post again and again with newer news categorized date-wise so we don't have to hunt for your posts.
