1581  Economy / Services / Re: Someone Paid Me $2,500 in April And Forgot... on: June 27, 2023, 11:24:12 AM
You do not need to stress yourself, just wait for the person to contact you. Do not spend the money. If you have waited for some many months or a year and the person has not contacted you, I think the money has become yours.

I saw something this on this forum this year or so and this is another one. I wonder how some people can do something like that, or a way to look for someone to scam.

I have seen some people that started scam like this before and requesting very small amount in a way to scam anyone that is trying to help. I hope this is not like that.
1582  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Being Knowledgeable before Bitcoin investment is very Good on: June 27, 2023, 11:08:35 AM
for me it was actually a bad idea consorting everyone for investment advice because you could be lured by scammers to invest on a shitcoin as such loosing all your money
That is may not be scam because the person may not know about the project to be scam. But it can also be a scam if the person that tell people to invest in the project is part of the people behind the project. But I have seen friends telling friends something like this in a way all of them will be scammed together. Lack of understanding about crypto caused it. DOR is very important.

the first thing was research google to learn more and also the risk involves
No only about the risk, but to seek for everything need to be known to avoid scam and to make a successful investment that will be profitable. You can use google but be careful too because google can give you false information like bitcoin wallet to be coinbase.com, Trustwallet and other wallets that are not good for bitcoin users. But making research by asking questions on this forum can be very helpful.

If someone can be patient and not greedy, investing in bitcoin is better, instead of investing in fake and shit projects.
1583  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [INFO]Hong Kong's HSBC Allows Customers to Trade Bitcoin. on: June 27, 2023, 07:52:01 AM
This is a great news, the adoption continues. With time, other countries will see what they are missing and begin to have interest in bitcoin holding. But according to the news, not that they hold bitcoin directly, it is the exchange traded fund (ETF) of it, which is good too because it is a way bitcoin adoption continues.

It is head shaking that uncle Gary, the SEC and the American government are cracking down on the cryptospace while a communist country like China are slowly allowing it through Hong Kong as the go between.

Another head shaking thought is only 2 years ago, China and Hong Kong were banning people under their jurisdictions from using crypto hehe. They were also closing people's bank accounts because they had transactions related to cryptocoin exchanges and services.
Also that in China, you can hold bitcoin as a property, it is legal. But I do not know what the stress of the Chinese government that they continue to ban bitcoin several times and later the ban is no more effective. You can see that after bitcoin mining was banned in China, Chinese miners again increased in hashrates and they are the second to US now.
1584  Economy / Economics / Re: Should I Use Emergency funds or Sell my Assets ? on: June 27, 2023, 07:35:19 AM
Are you holding fiat? Do you not know that if you are holding fiat, it is like your government are scamming you, although it is not a scam, but it is a means to lose money as your fiat money lose value and unable to buy what you can use it to buy before.

Likely you have your emergency money in your local fiat too. You said emergency, which means it should be used for inconveniences time and for emergencies. You supposed to use your emergency money, not that you should sell you property that may increase in value, although I am just saying that because some properties like land, metals, jewelries and many others like that  can increase in value.

It is better not to hold money in your local currency, bitcoin is still not that high, you can buy it instead. Ones the price is high very well and you have gained, you can convert some to dollar or other good foreign currency which are better than many fiat from countries like Venezuela, Lebanon, Sudan, Argentina, Zimbabwe, Turkey and many other countries.
1585  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What steps should I take to succeed here? on: June 27, 2023, 07:25:29 AM
Visit meta and beginners and help and read the pinned or sticky threads that are there. From there you will understand more about this forum and also about bitcoin wallet. You will also read some online papers, but be careful because not everything that is online are true or completely true.

If you visit this forum daily, reading and contributing in discussion, you will know more about bitcoin.

Among the pinned threads, make sure you read this about bitcoin: [General] Bitcoin Wallets - Which, what, why?

You can also read this about bitcoin online like on investopedia: https://www.investopedia.com/terms/b/bitcoin.asp

Make sure you read the forum rules. I do not have to provide the forum rules link because someone has already given you the link in one of the above posts.
1586  Other / Meta / Re: Is Ban Evasion same as Proxy Ban? on: June 27, 2023, 07:16:08 AM
That's not ban evasion.. you got those evil fee to pay as a result of people who are within that your area using same IP address with you might have violated the system, they have been ban and all of that.
You need to take note that IP blacklisting will affect all countries or the VPN location used. Let us take this an en example, you use service provider A to open an account on this forum, some other people also use service provider A, and they are permanently banned, this will affect other people that wants to open an account on this forum from that country that are using service provider A as the IP addresses if service provider A is blacklisted by this forum. Also if it is VPN, the VPN per each location that the banned people are using to register account will be blacklisted.
1587  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who Buys Bitcoin When The Price is 100k$? on: June 26, 2023, 10:19:03 PM
If bitcoin has surpassed $100000, it is better not to buy bitcoin again at that time if you do not want your story to be like those that bought bitcoin at $50000 or above in 2020 and 2021. Such people are losing now but bitcoin will rise again. Before bitcoin will get to those prices, it takes years. If you buy at $100000, probably you might later wait for years before you make profit. Do not join the fomo group, buy now when it is not yet late again.
1588  Other / Meta / Re: Captcha slow to load on Safari browser on: June 26, 2023, 01:52:39 PM
Likely you internet is slow, but if not slow, try VPN and use USA or UK or other location that do not give you captca problem to see if there is any difference. If that does not work, follow the Cantsay link to bypass captcha, or if you want to login, you will see the link below the login to click on to bypass the captcha which is also the link.

I haven't tried ir cos I usually don't have issue with the captcha when I sign in.
https://bitcointalk.org/captcha_code.php
I have tried it several times and it always work.
1589  Economy / Economics / Re: Has everyone become too pesimistic about the economy? on: June 26, 2023, 10:19:34 AM
For the problems of institutional investors, I think they will definitely come back, maybe even they are slowly coming back. Many large companies today have approached crypto. Even with blackrock's current approach proposing a spot Bitcoin ETF is a sign that big things are coming.
There are more organisations that will become investors and many institutional investors are waiting for the right time to invest more. But we should not only consider institutional investors because there are retail investors too that their investment can increase bitcoin price.

You highlighted good points. But did not mention a single bad point because of which people are pessimistic. We should see overall picture, not just one side.
Then what is bad point? For not mentioning it makes your post to be spam and of no quality.
1590  Economy / Economics / Re: Has everyone become too pesimistic about the economy? on: June 26, 2023, 10:05:25 AM
What I am optimistic about is that bitcoin will get to six digit which is 1$100000 or above. A time is coming when bitcoin will grow bigger. Let us see what will happen after the next halving, I think bitcoin will get there some months, 1 or 2 years after next year halving.

- That Gensler CAN'T truly ban crypto
Many crypto currencies are securities just like their father ethereum is a security and becoming more centralised day by day. Ethereum developers are working now to reduce validators from people that stake 32 ETH to people that stake 2048 ETH. Becoming more centralised day by day by all ways.

Know that not all altcoins are securities. Litecoin and few others which are not like ethereum are not considered as securities.
1591  Other / Meta / Re: Can Bitcointalk Adopt the Web3 System? on: June 26, 2023, 07:27:27 AM
But sometimes I think, bitcoin is an advanced technological breakthrough for the future, why are bitcoin forums still running conventionally? of course the admin of this site is very thorough with security, so it's very strict in this forum.
Bitcoin is no supporting web3 just like I said before, this forum can not follow the ways of the altcoins.

Honestly, I'd love to have alternative login system like this, in addition to the current one, so people can choose as per their preference. But, I'm not sure if there are Bitcoin web3 wallets like metamask.
But which can not happen. Let us wait for 2FA implementation on this forum if you need additional layer of protection. A for me, I am use to the old way to login and it is perfect for me if 2FA is added.
1592  Economy / Gambling / Re: Question about casino, sports bet on: June 26, 2023, 07:14:22 AM
Mobile web apps are slowly becoming powerful, too. Web applications in general have become better and better in recent years. Developers managed to cram a lot of computational magic in browsers that are a staple on a lot of internet-ready devices, and it's just the device of the end-user that will be the obstacle here. It might also come down to preferences and beliefs as native apps are, in general, more efficient than their web-based counterparts. It may no longer be the case now, but that line of thinking still exists nowadays.
You are not wrong, but what makes more people to use mobile phone to gamble today is more about using the web browser directly to gamble. There are many betting sites that may have mobile app too, but in a way that the web browser access to their site is very lite and easy.

Some gamblers do not even know that they can go using app and they see the ease and good user experience while using just their mobile phone web browser to gamble directly. What I am saying is that, unlike before that mobile phones browsers and the phone itself are poor to access the web, people can as of today access the web with mobile phone too and get a better experience than before while using the phone. The reliance on computer these days have reduced unlike before when phone can not be used for this kind of task with good user experience.
1593  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bet on live game or while game hasn't started yet? on: June 26, 2023, 06:44:24 AM
It all depends on the odds and the capital you are willing to put out for it that's what sport bet, on days that I have more capital to gamble and I am not looking to take risk in my selection, I bet on the odd I believe is most likely to play out and then stake on it.

In cases where I have little Capital and actually want to make more out of the game, I wait let the game start playing out and then I stake on the best possibility that had increased odds after the game has started.
But there is a chance that you may not take the bet again if the stronger team is winning already at the beginning. Live matches also happens in a way that those odds that is growing bigger as the match is going to 90 minutes are the odds that their prediction is not likely to happen, although it can happen, but in a way that bettors will not want to go for such odds.

But I do it like yours too, even when I have little money and I have time to bet when the match has started already, I can wait for like 10 to 15 minutes after the match start to bet on the team I think would win, but the disadvantage is what I have said, that if the team score early, the odd drops instead, in a way you will be discouraged to bet on such club because of the odd that has fallen abruptly almost to it lowest.
1594  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: (nevermind) Which wallet does this hash go to? on: June 26, 2023, 06:05:10 AM
Does anyone know what wallet this hash goes too?

$bitcoin$64$8701c2734f8cfd16b14a9d22165d7acb4275ee46a3b28e4f3c1b22900e7796d8$16$d5fbf738dd9c8922$113073$96$a51b29d430e980f3e493f0a0713f55fae91b708d07460b7856110dfda7ae85850223e32f897a61bd4e752ff1e36bdb61$66$03faf62cf99b86878abcd0321e191841428e290dffdd824942df087c3b94933794

cracked it 38chars but cant locate the wallet.  Does anyone have it?

Thanks
An hash that contains bitcoin in letter and  many symbol of $. Does that look like a valid hash to you? That is not a valid hash.

Another thing is that you can not use transaction or transaction hash to determine the wallet it goes to. It it is hard or not possible to know the wallet an address belong too.

With transaction hash, you can know about an address, but the transaction hash above is not valid.
1595  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Become Currency of Nations in 10-15 Years on: June 26, 2023, 05:53:59 AM
I am thinking that even though Bitcoin will become the currency of most nations in the future, the traditional currency we have now will still exist. What I can see is Bitcoin will just be an alternative.
World currency, yes, I agree here and support it because we all know Bitcoin is already doing it and it's really how Bitcoin works right now.
The world reserve currencies are not only one, they are many. Example are the US dollar, Pounds Sterling and Euro. What I am trying to say is that the world reserves have alternatives, so if bitcoin become one of the world reserves, it would surely be an alternative. But I think if the world start to use bitcoin like that, a time would come their eyes will open to know that bitcoin can be better than fiats to hold as a reserve because its value in long term increase and the price also proportionately increase.
1596  Other / Meta / Re: Can Bitcointalk Adopt the Web3 System? on: June 25, 2023, 02:43:27 PM
Currently, it seems that sites that implement web3 technology are popular. This site connect wallet to login. Is it possible if bitcointalk also adopts such a system in the future?

But I don't know if a bitcoin wallet can do something like that. most sites that adopt the web3 system use the ethereum network
Why do you need web3 login when there is no need for it if you know the proper ways to avoid scammers. What people are still looking forward to is the two-factor authentication which might be done before this year get to an end.

Web3 login is not what is possible yet for bitcoin wallets, there is no bitcoin wallet using web3 for bitcoin because web3 is not in bitcoin protocol and likely will not be there.

If that can happen, the marketplace system will also be easier to use. I think the marketplace system here is too conventional. Not bad, but prone to fraud
If you want to trade with someone on this forum, you can ask for the person to sign his bitcoin address which have already been used on this forum before.

If the person has PGP public key, you can use that as prove also by sending him an encrypted message, telling him to decrypt the message.
1597  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Teacher and Classmates Labeling Bitcoin as a Ponzi Scheme or a Scam on: June 23, 2023, 03:01:19 PM
You need to let him know that this life is a scam if someone does not know what he is doing. Example is holding fiat for 10 years in a fixed deposit account because of 10% APR. Is that not scam in countries that are not developed but hit with inflation? The fiat will decrease in value even in countries that are developed.

Let him know that he suppose to understand something before he can call it a scam. A business that the business owner collect Peter money to pay Paul is what that is called ponzi. Is bitcoin like that? No.

You know what is bitcoin, you know how volatile it is, you know that you can either gain or lose, unlike ponzi schemes that the business owners are lying to make investors to invest.
1598  Other / Meta / Re: fillippone merited thread need more support of merit source. on: June 22, 2023, 07:58:59 PM
However, I don't know how many merit sources there currently are, or how active they are, but I'll betcha it'd probably help things if Theymos added some new ones.  Speaking of that, I haven't seen any new applications to be a merit source in quite some time.
There are 110 merit sources.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats=sources

There are many people (at least four or five people) that have applied for merit source but no one has been selected after the last selection.
1599  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New to Bitcoin on: June 22, 2023, 11:43:48 AM
I don't know if you're for real... But if you are: you just posted a big advertisement for scammers...
Personally, i'd disregard all mails arriving at that address from now on cause everybody looking for an easy victim will be mailing you.
There is nothing more tht he is doing, he is only inviting scammers and that is just it.

Everything about bitcoin discussion should be done openly on this forum. Take time to learn about bitcoin yourself if you do not want anyone to scam you.

Start to read about bitcoin paper online. Paper like this ones:

1600  Other / Meta / Re: fillippone merited thread need more support of merit source. on: June 22, 2023, 09:00:09 AM
Yes fillippone is active in his thread and it has being meriting people seriously but the thread is having more pages because people is submitting application everyday, the least application that come to that thread a day should be ten or eight (10: Cool applications daily either he needed more smerit from theymos to distribute more in that thread.
Anyone that needs more merit should use the LoyceV thread that I posted, there are merit sources there. Quality posts are often merited there. You do not necessarily need to be the one that has the posts, you can also report other user's posts for merit.

The Sceptical Chymist: is the list I made for one of the users that is distributing Larger merit to people, and I observe that The Sceptical Chymist distributes like thirty, twenty five to fifteen (30 -25 - 15) merit at once, and that is helping for merit circulation. For the thread I Skip, I don't know that such thread is existing, thanks for bringing it to my knowledge, i will add it
The Sceptical Chymist do give up to 50 merits to people that deserves it.
