whatever.  it will just follow the same pattern.  pump then dump.

pumpers prolly think there's still naive people hanging around...  but to think of it, it would be good if they pump via high so i can sell some of my coins for break even.
15802  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] Darkcoin | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW and Darksend | Instant TX on: November 07, 2014, 09:39:14 PM
Glad I held. I was so close to letting my Dark go just the other day. Feels like the pump is over now, more settled rise to 0.008 I think.

that, or a fake out..  i guess we'll find out in the comng days.

I am taking it as a positive sign that hero member 'tokeweed' has entered the thread...  Grin

tokeweed, it's hard to ask this in a bitcoin thread without getting shat upon by frothing zealots, but do you think the bitcoin crowd who have been using BTC on the deep web up to now are finally getting the message that BTC (plus trusted mixers that magically get 'hacked' etc.) isn't the best tool for the job?

i am the wrong person to ask.  i was never a super hardcore bitcoiner, but i am a fan of the tech and the movement, as i am a fan of some of the altcoin projects as well.

but to answer, i think deep down they are getting the message. take darkcoin and openbazaar for instance, i think it would be much safer for your privacy to accept darkcoin if you were selling anal intruder devices. Grin

it's a perfect match, that's why i suggested the DRK whales and users to send donations to openbazaar as the devs there need a little help:  http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2ll7po/openbazaar_needs_donations/

if there was a project that could take darkcoin to a whole new level, it's openbazaar.  so why not start a good relationship with them?

DRK and DGB seem to be starting to trend up.

repost while everyone is in an optimistic mood:

open bazaar needs donations.  maybe the DRK whales/users can pool in and help...?  could do well for darkcoin's standing and its community.

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2ll7po/openbazaar_needs_donations/

i believe open bazaar and darkcoin is a very good match.  might as well start now by lending a helping hand.

what do you guys think?

Currently being bid at 24, and 4.5 million offered at 25. Approximately another 8 million more or less evenly spread out between 26 and 29 (only referring to Cryptsy here, but Bittrex looks pretty much the same). I think someone's going to be asking themselves somewhere down the line, "why the hell did I sell at that price?"

Edit:

11 million bid at 22 on Cryptsy
10 million bid at 22 on Bittrex

22 is that old support/resistance level, remember, thus the importance of 23 trading, and now we've got SIZE bids starting at 22! That's real nice short term confirmation.

I agree, although the green line projection is a bit too optimistic Wink
the weird 22-25 dance that's been going on today has ended and the bid is solidly above 23 now. I believe we will see dgb go higher slowly.

I think price will stay between 24 and 25 for a while and then move up.

and it would be nice to see the volume go up a bit.

we are breaking through again it seems  .. i wouldnt mind reading some thoughts / analyses about
where we are right now in the market and where we could end up in the next few days.

it's just starting to trend upwards, so now is a really good time to get in.  not sure on how and where this will all end up, but hopefully it becomes a long, steady uptrend for months to come.

edit:  but be careful tho, it could be a fake out too (saying that more to emphasize that everyone be careful when trading, rather than being pessimistic).

DRK just passed LTC in 24HR volume, woo!

curious..  is the said announcement something big?
We don't know.
The only thing i know is that when Digibytes announces something it's not just something simple.

I think it's about the outside investment/partnership

probably with someone from china?
15814  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] Darkcoin | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW and Darksend | Instant TX on: November 07, 2014, 05:10:27 PM
Google translate says...
"Darkcoin , the virtual currency of the black market online"
"New black market niches result of this new currency"

LOL!  i know it gives darkcoin a bad name but what they're doing is like free advertising.  people get more and more curious and intrigued about it, wondering why the authorities fear DRK so much.

I must say, this project is really going great IMO.

Every milestone has been planned and negotiated with such a balanced degree of pioneering spirit and realistic pragmatism that it's difficult to look back and see how anything could have been done differently - even with the benefit of hindsight.

Despite that, there have been enough mistakes and challenges along the way for the progress to be real and not delusional.

Major congratulations to all involved for getting it so far in such a competitive and technically precarious sector.

The biggest issue we are having is the fact that DRK is a one-man team. I know the team is bigger than just Evan, but Evan is the only person that brings actual skills to the table (no offense to the other team members). He is really fast and he works really hard and he is a genius, but in the end, it is still just 1 person. The size of the team is the biggest threat this project is facing. We can deal with this once DRK's exposure goes through the roof though (hopefully).

Yes, risk management 101 but since we are open source I think many great devs will be attracted to the project

freedom fighter types like the peter todd or amir taaki would be awesome i think.

15818  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins are killing Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency as a whole on: November 07, 2014, 02:36:48 PM
The altmarket is the biggest suppression when it comes to Bitcoin mass adoption. To date, there should rightfully only be a handful of altcoins available, specifically, those that actually feature innovations and/or improve upon blockchain technology.

But no, instead we have thousands of 'shitcoins' made strictly, for the most part, to scam investors for a quick buck.

Adding a new currency was initially limited to the governments throughout the world. Now we gave that same power to every capable individual. And we as a whole, have produced one decent 'currency' per hundreds of shitcoins produced per month.

When I was introduced to Bitcoin, i did more research into cryptocurrency. Not long after, without even trying, I basically knew so much about altcoins...specifically, the scams. I heard more news about Altcoin scams than I did about actual bitcoin news.

This is the kind of crap that will ruin Crypto. A huge percentage  of BTC owners dont hold or invest in BTC. They use it to trade via trading against shitcoins. A majority of BTC holders dont really care about if Bitcoin goes 'to the moon'. They just want to choose wisely between a 'short' or a 'long'.

Your average basement dweller can produce a new altcoin in a few hours and dedicate the remainder of the day to create a few graphics, hype up some new 'innovation', and the sheeple traders follow blindly. Next thing you know, hidden premine. Dev earns $5-50k for a days work. And on to the next one.

This is crypto. Only a tiny percentage actually use bitcoin as a currency instead of just a trading token. The majority are only in it for trading against shitcoins.

Shut down all Bitcoin exchanges save only those keeping ONLY BTC/USD, and you will see a true rise to BTC. As long as the alt market is present, Bitcoin will go nowhere but a steady downtrend in terms of value.

The majority of the bitcoin community is the reason why Bitcoin will never be truly become the new currency as some believe.

I'll come back to this when BTC is trading @ $250 ea. by XMAS, and $120 by the end of winter.

RIP Tim Draper.

what you're saying is true to a point.  but remember mainstream adoption won't happen over night..  not with the banksters around.  it is a long hard road ahead for btc even without the hundreds of useless altcoins.

in fact, i don't mind btc having its own ecosystem of altcoins revolving around it.

15820  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CODY WILSON PLANS TO DESTROY THE BITCOIN FOUNDATION on: November 07, 2014, 01:21:46 PM
in my view: stupid. can he also create & build something usefull?

He did/does: Dark Wallet

Does Cody code ?

So, whats the story with TBF ?
You have to pay to be a member ? That sounds dodgy right away. How about a democratic single transferable vote electoral system - maybe it could be done via the blockchain ?
I dunno.

Presumably the worry with TBF is that it will be co-opted by big business - or compromise bitcoins core values for widespread usage ?
I'd argue the problem's just letting a group of people appear to be the authority on Bitcoin without necessarily being selected by the community, which is not limited to people paying annual dues to an election committee. TBF does more than select who gets to talk to the press, obviously, but I think that's kind of the rub, because members sometimes say things some of us consider antithetical to whatever "we" think Bitcoin stands for. They've done some good things. The other similar issue could come from TBF selecting not only who talks to the press, but who talks to governments, where the message could be even more critical. That said, I'm unaware of TBF ever actually claiming to be *the* voice of Bitcoin, and I've never heard of any government agency which says "well, we can only have one expert at the Bitcoin hearing, so let's call up The Bitcoin Foundation, cause it sounds legit!" I've gone from being leery to being a donor to hating them (some pretty tragic choices for board members) to ambivalence.

so in a way, do you think cody wilson is 'liberating' bitcoin somehow by 'destroying' TBF?

edit:  i'm pretty sure the community could come up with something better than TBF if ever it was 'destroyed'.
