Glad I held. I was so close to letting my Dark go just the other day. Feels like the pump is over now, more settled rise to 0.008 I think.

that, or a fake out..  i guess we'll find out in the comng days.

''fake out'' for those interested to know what it means (i just googled it because i didnt know what he ment) :
http://www.investopedia.com/articles/forex/11/morning-forex-fake-out-trade.asp

quote :

''Many traders are aware that when a market opens there are often whipsaw-like actions (or what some may call "fake outs") before a stronger trend emerges. With currencies the market is open 24 hours during the week, therefore many traders don't see the forex market as having an "opening" session. Yet this is not true. Banks in different parts of the world open for business, and with that, a larger volume enters the market. Therefore currencies are not immune from the morning "fake out." As stop levels are cleared on either side of the open price, a stronger trend will often emerge. This trend may not last, but by knowing there is often a fake out followed by a stronger move, traders can position themselves for taking advantage if they implement the proper strategy.''

edit : just replace forex market with cryptocurrency market

I am taking it as a positive sign that hero member 'tokeweed' has entered the thread...  Grin

tokeweed, it's hard to ask this in a bitcoin thread without getting shat upon by frothing zealots, but do you think the bitcoin crowd who have been using BTC on the deep web up to now are finally getting the message that BTC (plus trusted mixers that magically get 'hacked' etc.) isn't the best tool for the job?

If any of the tor sites that got busted yesterday have been keeping records, there's a fair chance that users as well as dealers might be getting a knock at the door from nasty men in uniforms.

Good going! I, unfortunately, let mine go early and it cost me 0.001 per DRK. Trade confidence in the gutter right now. I might be done with crypto-trading for awhile.

Tried to imagine how a wallet that is as simple as possible would look like:

Please note, that I am not a professional UI designer, nor do I belong to the dev team. So it's just a random DRK fan's quick scrabble just for fun.

Private funds section has both Spendable and In Progress, because imo the anonymization process should be able to have part of the denominations fully anonymized and ready to be used (gone through required rounds already) while part of the funds not. This could happen when some of the denominations have found mixing partners very fast, while other denominations have not. Or, the user has decided to anonymize some more coins while the previous ones are still denominating. Or, the user has sent private coins and the "Amount of Darkcoin to keep anonymized" threshold has been hit.

It should contain as little information as possible. For example, unless there are unconfirmed coins, Incoming balance shouldn't be displayed at all, i.e. no need to display "Incoming: 0.00 DRK".

Likewise, if the anonymization process is not running, In Progress shouldn't be visible.

Cool!  It makes it much clearer...from first glance, you should be able to understand the current status...this is not the case right now.

We all have our bad trades-mine was Doge back in the early days. Bought at 250sat, cut out at ~130sat.

You did predict this rise somewhat, above 0.0054 negated the down trend- that post was one of the reasons I held my DRK Smiley

Maybe a break would not be bad. I stopped for a bit after the "dogening". Also, silk road 2.0- freak event man. Like Mint before it.

i am the wrong person to ask.  i was never a super hardcore bitcoiner, but i am a fan of the tech and the movement, as i am a fan of some of the altcoin projects as well.

but to answer, i think deep down they are getting the message. take darkcoin and openbazaar for instance, i think it would be much safer for your privacy to accept darkcoin if you were selling anal intruder devices. Grin

it's a perfect match, that's why i suggested the DRK whales and users to send donations to openbazaar as the devs there need a little help:  http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2ll7po/openbazaar_needs_donations/

if there was a project that could take darkcoin to a whole new level, it's openbazaar.  so why not start a good relationship with them?

- 5 minute block target
- 6 Confirms per transaction
- Difficulty re-targets every 60 minutes
- Block reward controlled by moores law ( 1111 / (diff+1 ^ 2))
- 11 chained hashing algorithms
- Premine: 0%

Since the reward is variable and depends on the difficulty, is there a maximum amount of coins to be mined? A maximum amount of blocks?

Yes, the max coin amount is 84,000,000

Guys , Im reading a hell of a lot about Drk , but almost impossible to read all , one thing strange to me , Eddufield is talking about 84000000 total coins on page nr 2 of bct , but total is 21000000 correct ? ,  or was the 84 Mln for Xcoin ? , someone can help me out here ? ,

Where did you get that quote? These are the current specs:

  • Release date: 11PM EST, 18th January 2014 / No premine
  • X11 hashing algorithm: 11 rounds of scientific hashing functions (blake, bmw, groestl, jh, keccak, skein, luffa, cubehash, shavite, simd, echo)
  • Block reward is controlled by: 2222222/(((Difficulty+2600)/9)^2)
  • CPU/GPU mining
  • Block generation: 2.5 minutes
  • Difficulty Retargets using Dark Gravity Wave
  • 7% decrease in the number of coins generated per year
  • Est. ~22M Max Coins
  • Decentralized Masternode Network
  • Superior Transaction Anonymity using Darksend

84M was the spec of Xcoin

84M was the amount of coins before we decided to do a finite supply. We looked at various reward curves and let the community vote on the parameters. It ended up being a 7% decline each year, totaling in about 21M coins. Actually the first decline is coming up here in January.

Since the reward is variable and depends on the difficulty, is there a maximum amount of coins to be mined? A maximum amount of blocks?

Yes, the max coin amount is 84,000,000

Guys , Im reading a hell of a lot about Drk , but almost impossible to read all , one thing strange to me , Eddufield is talking about 84000000 total coins on page nr 2 of bct , but total is 21000000 correct ? ,  or was the 84 Mln for Xcoin ? , someone can help me out here ? ,

84M was the spec of Xcoin

84M was the amount of coins before we decided to do a finite supply. We looked at various reward curves and let the community vote on the parameters. It ended up being a 7% decline each year, totaling in about 21M coins. Actually the first decline is coming up here in January.

A little decline is always welcome  Grin

Darkcoin - v0.10.15.21

If you are running a masternode on a VPS, I highly suggest you update to 15.21. This update reduces outbound traffic by 90%+ (which is what amazon charges for) by implementing bloom filters. Also load has been drastically reduced by about 70%.

PS. Enforcement is on, everything looks good  Smiley

Will update after work tonight :-)

Does Bitcoin even have bloom filters or was it just something they want to implement? Was it hard to put in?

I'd like to thank eduffield and the other developers for this critically important evolution in virtual currency. DarkCoin is what bitcoin should have been. Some might call it "Bitcoin 2.0" but would do better by saying: "DarkCoin is digital cash." - Child Harold - February 28, 2014

Ok, so as i'm trying my first actual attempt at mixing... 30 minutes in, I would say either there's a problem or the interface leaves a LOT to be desired for...

0% done.. the message just keeps switching between Submitted to masternode, waiting in queue to Darksend is idle... I have no idea (i haven't really been paying attention the last couple months) if this is normal or not or if this isn't working... from a novice standpoint, it feels like it's not working?

- 5 minute block target
- 6 Confirms per transaction
- Difficulty re-targets every 60 minutes
- Block reward controlled by moores law ( 1111 / (diff+1 ^ 2))
- 11 chained hashing algorithms
- Premine: 0%
