161  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow 28nm 100Ghash Bitcoin ASIC from $1.99/GH/s, miners from $2.97/GH/s on: February 05, 2014, 01:47:07 AM
yep.  Cointerra and KnC obviously recognize the fact that they can't cost their customers a ton of money and expect to survive.

Either route will work, in terms of adding hash power permanently or supplying equivalent hash power until the units are delivered.   It's math, so figure out what is the actual equivalent of the loss to customers.

On a side note, KnC's assertion that they are setting up a massive mine is bad news for the rest of us, as they're going to knock the difficulty up.

These people aren't doing these things out of a sense of decency.  It's business.  You screw your customers and you're out of business.  End of story.  Contrary to assertions that I've seen that these machines were not meant to generate fiat, that's malarkey, this is about money.  Blowing smoke to try to make it as if it is not is simply BS.

As a consumer, I'd like to see all three ASIC manufacturers survive, as this will help drive innovation and bring costs down.  If BA continues with nothing but this additional 25% for 4 months or whatever it was, they're done.  The market won't forget it.

I won't order another BA product, period, if this is the way they treat their customers.  Even if they promise the greatest, most efficient, powerful unit in the history of the planet, their assertions, claims, promises don't mean a thing if their reputation is that they stood by and let their customers take a bath, while the other manufacturers stepped up and made it right.

Agreed. Couple things I want to mention in this thread:

1 - Black Arrow doesn't have enough Bitfury boards to offer much hash power until May 1st when the delivery date comes.
2 - Black Arrow doesn't have any X-1s or X-3s to use for hashing from Feb 24th to May 1st when the delivery date comes.

So we might as well forget about the whole "give us hash power" on February 24th scenario. They have nothing to use. Black Arrow isn't going to break down and go buy machines from other suppliers in order to keep their customers happy. (although it would be nice)

All that we can hope for is for them to increase the amount of "bonus" hashpower to something worth while by spending their own profit on hosted machines. Or they can just increase the duration of the 25% bonus. (by a lot)

Here is a proposed offer for Batch 1 customers - 50% off an equal order for batch 2 equipment and forget about the 25% bonus!

25% doesn't amount to a pinch of coon shit when you've lost 2 months of mining. Difficulty will be 6-8 billion by then, and you only get 4 months worth. 50% more hashrate for 4 months maybe...

A ploy to get people to buy into bitcity, which when translated to english is a vague plan to make something revolutionary. I skimmed the whole thread and the only thing that i could wrap my head around, is that the earlier you donate the more profitable it will be. Go figure.
167  Economy / Digital goods / Re: the-bitcoins.com domain - is it worth anything? on: January 27, 2014, 11:44:38 PM
Not really. The dash is the killer. Even if you monetized it, it would only be the worth the same as bitcoin-city.com or bitcoin-guide.com, make-bitcoins.com etc.

thebitcoins.com would be a bit better and worth something someday, but not yet.

The best i saw on here was btcvacations.com and i see its already been snatched up and operating as an actual vacation website.

i see that www.btc-investing.com is available. Same idea though, the dash is what kills its current value.

I would like to sell 10 prospero x1 first batch first round (25 feb) .... If someone is interested I am waiting offers on private. I would prefer bitcoins instead of fiat.

Post this in the marketplace and be ready to accept escrow.

173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Got a 7950 and 280x- NEED HELP :) :( on: January 11, 2014, 05:18:12 PM
Its just a pain in the ass all together. Building a miner is technical enough, the last thing you want to do is spend hours troubleshooting why one card isnt getting the hashrate that others have posted on the forums. I am not familiar with the 270x, but a 280x and 7950 aren't going to work well without running 2 instances of cgminer. If you have some extra money laying around, sell one of the cards on ebay for top dollar and buy a different card that matches the rest. The only drawback is with ebay, is that it takes paypal 21 days before the money is available to spend. (for new sellers) Hence why I mentioned the money laying around.
174  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Why are you not selling stuff on Bitcoin Classifieds? on: January 11, 2014, 06:11:35 AM
I think you should remove items that are old/stale.

http://www.bitcoinclassifieds.net/ad/4259_MSI_ATI_AMD_Radeon_7950_Video_Graphics_Card_GPU/

3 BTC no thanks lol

Well, at that time, btc price was very low. And the poster replied in btc, He should have been posted in usd. That would be cool.

But its over 6 months old, and it should have been pruned. Maybe the seller should be emailed and asked if he would like to keep his add up? I'm sure that the website is struggling to gain popularity, so they aren't going to take down any items unless they are sold. It hurts the "experience" if you are looking at items that have unrealistic prices due to being old. They have probably been sold elsewhere by now.
175  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / BAMT help - Complete Newb on: January 11, 2014, 04:38:41 AM
Alright so i lost my BAMT virginity today. I have a monitor connected to it until i get it running smoothly. I followed the guides but i know i missed a step or two.

Booted with BAMT. On the top right it shows my 3 7900 series cards. It says along the bottom "No GPUs are configured - this is normal for a new installation)
Went into file manager>ETC>BAMT>cgminer.conf
Updated the 1st pool to middlecoin, and pasted in the 7950 settings.

I click the "start" button>BAMT control>start new mining sessions

A screen pops up that checks the 1st GPU, 2nd GPU, 3 GPU, then it disappears. Shortly after the screen turns red and it says its found a fault on all 3 video cards.

Few Questions...

I am guessing i have to upload the 7950 drivers?
Does "start new mining sessions" run cgminer or a different mining software?

180  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC hits 5,000 in 2014 on: January 08, 2014, 04:00:55 AM
I think that it will hit $5000. Mainly due to the volatility I see and the fact it can bounce half way back from china banning it in a month.

I also think that regardless of who ships what and how profitable it is, it will always correct itself. A price drop will make mining less profitable which will swing hashrate to alt coins which will drop difficulty which will make mining profitable. You get the idea.

There will never again be a time where mining is ultra profitable because as soon as it becomes profitable everyone hammers the network with a new line of asics and drives the difficulty up. There is also never going to be a time where buying coins and speculating their increase is a sure fire way to get rich. If that was the case, everyone would be buying coins driving the prices up making it a more of a gamble. Get in now and start mining, or buy some coins and stare at mtgox all summer while crossing your fingers. Were all in it for the long haul if you want to make money.
