Smooth deal with AD as always. Equate made it quite easy as well.

I have told it verbally but i will write it here that you are my most preferred escrow holder.

And deal with Equate was smooth.

166  Local / India / Re: FBI seizes Silk Road. BTC backbone broken! on: October 07, 2013, 07:10:54 PM
The fact that btc prices bumped back to 130+ (close to the price before the seize) instills trust in many of us that it is being used for legitimate purposes as well.

When i read last, SR's btc transaction was just about 1/11th the total btc transaction.
This is good for bitcoin's future.

168  Local / India / Re: Paypal refunds from BFL Labs on: October 01, 2013, 12:28:02 AM
Can you show some proofs of refunds from BFL?
I am being skeptical on this one.

Mate.. Am not charging for this service. Am trying to help out people who are sailing on the same boat as i was a week ago. I posted here just in case they might have not been aware of the technique people in USA and Europe are employing in getting the refunds.

You can believe it if you want to. I got a 100% refund within 16 hours of sending email to Paypal (period). I will not try to justify myself.

That being said, seems like you are late to the party. By the looks of it, paypal seems to have been out of funds in the BFL Labs paypal account. Now they are saying that if your order is older than 45 days, then they cannot help and asking customers to chargeback using their CC or something on those lines.

Again as others said, there is an entire thread in Custom Hardware section. Feel free to read through it.
Thanks,
169  Local / Marketplace (India) / Re: Looking for someone that can open accounts in a local bank? on: September 29, 2013, 01:42:41 PM
I am from the US and I was hoping to make a open a couple saving accounts! I heard the interest rate is somewhere around 7-10%? I would love to add that into my investment portfolio. I figured it be easier to transfer from USD to RU INR by using bitcoins as the medium.

Thank you for that clarification. Am an Indian living in USA and i have come across this question a number of times from my american friends and colleagues, so let me pitch in. They comeup to me with an idea of taking a personal loan here in USA (which you get at a nominal interest rate of ~ 3 - 6%) and then keep it as deposit in India at 9% earning an income of ~3 - 5% which is completely legit and many people do that.

Yes you are correct. The interest rates offered by Indian banks to deposits are at the rate of 8 - 9% depending upon the bank. These banks are either owned by Govt / regulated by Reserve Bank of India (RBI) (Hence protection to your principle is similar to FDIC insured in USA.)
RBI is the governing body something similar to FDIC and Federal Reserve in USA.

However, the catch is that you need to be an Indian citizen to open any bank account and the interest earned on your principle is taxable in India.
RBI is strict in regulation and it is quite difficult to get around that.

If you are looking for heavy investments, some of the other ways that i have seen people do is (but am not sure how it works)

1) They visit India on Business / Work visa, open Foreign Currency account and make deposits.
2) Partner with an Indian citizen or an Indian investment company who will manage your portfolio on your behalf.
3) Reachout to global banks like Citibank and HSBC to check if they can offer something for you as they have presence in India as well. I have even heard that citibank provides you with IRS Form-1099 for the interest earned in India so that you can file taxes here in USA. (Yes. US and India have an active tax treaty).
4) Apply for Dual citizenship (US and India)
5) Or finally Marry an Indian. Tongue

Hope this helps.!

171  Local / India / Re: Anyone here unbanked? on: September 26, 2013, 07:23:17 PM
I didn't have any bank account until 2009, just one year before i came to know about bitcoins.

There is no free wi-fi even in the International airport in Chennai.

Indian metros can provide to anyone a lot of "free" WIFI, here and there, everywhere. Many APs everywhere running on WEP - Wired Equivalent Privacy. Easy can be cracked without any skills in 10 minutes max. All you need is http://www.data-alliance.net/servlet/-strse-73/Alfa-AWUS036H-1000mW-USB/Detail and Backtrack

Disclaimer : It is technically not free Wi-Fi, if you are cracking it. It is illegal to crack into others wifi unless they don't have any password protection.

Also, there have been cases in some countries where, hackers have left a public access point in Starbucks and Cafes with a SSID similar to the well known one without any password protection. Once a user gets connected to that, they act as man-in-the-middle who will have access to all your passwords and anything that you login to.
172  Local / Marketplace (India) / Re: [WTB] Looking to buy 1- 2 btc per day at btc-e spot price. on: September 26, 2013, 07:10:21 PM
Such trade is risky for the seller as well as buyer. One money gets deposited in a bank account it cannot be recalled. Same thing with bitcoin, once it leaves the wallet it cannot be called back. Both the seller and buyer should be genuine. Who knows what the other is thinking?

Welcome to bitcointalk.

With regards to your response, then how do you suggest one trades bitcoins.?

FYI, That is the reason people are advised to use escrow.
Thanks,
173  Local / Marketplace (India) / Re: Looking for someone that can open accounts in a local bank? on: September 25, 2013, 01:47:35 AM
Hey guys! I am interested in someone that can open accounts in a local bank (possibly open multiple accounts) and to go as far as manage them! There is a lot more to this, but I rather keep it simple and explain the whole concept through email / PM.
Ideally, there can be a lot of money being made here, if we do everything properly.

You need PAN card to open accounts (more like SSN). Why can't you do this yourself.?
If you are not a Indian resident, then you need to come up with a Joint Venture with a Indian resident but then you will have to setup LLP and open a current / business account.

175  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: @Friedcat: A forgotten promise? on: September 24, 2013, 06:04:26 PM

@desired_username
Have you received the package?

Yes. I got it today. 204pcs of USB block erupters (yes two hundred and four).
 Grin

Lucky you.! How many BE's had you brought and which auction.?

2nd auction 4 blades.
0_o This makes no sense, I also have 4 blades from B2-3 as well as a B1 yet received only 102 USBs.

I agree. Am not sure how is it being calculated.
I read somewhere else that he brought 2 B2 blades and received 20 USB's for each blade.?

177  Local / Marketplace (India) / Re: [OPEN] Group buy ASICMiner NEW Blade miners on: September 24, 2013, 11:04:54 AM
I need to know few things

How much power (watt) do you need to run one unit ? Standard psu can handle how many units ?

What internet connection is preferred to run entire month ?

Warranty - If there are defects / unit failures will you replace the units ?

Whats the longevity of the unit if you run nonstop for months

I can answer some of those questions.

I had / have a few blades myself which are running for the past 4 months non-stop. (i shutdown my pc occasionally to install windows updates).

Each blade consumes close to 120 watt. I have used Corsair CX 600 M PSU to power 3 blades completely at 80% load and they worked like charm.
CX 750 M is also good for 4 blades. If you are buying more, then reachout to Pinwheel, he has his own custom power module that he uses for 10 blades.

ASICMINER is one of the best companies for warranty. One of my blades had a problem. One of the chip was not working properly. Nothing serious. The max it could hash was at 11500 - 12000 GH. So a simple email to them and they sent me a new blade altogether before asking me to ship the faulty one back reducing my downtime to mere 10 minutes.
178  Local / Marketplace (India) / Re: WTB 1 BTC on: September 24, 2013, 10:56:44 AM
Would be great if someone could sell me some, Iam from Germany and the only way right now to get some is at bitcoins.de but that kinda sucks and take up to 5 days to get them :/
I would love to pay u with paypal, (yes I know its risky for u as btc seller) but Iam trustworthy so if anyone out there is willing to sell me some, just leave a comment or pm me thanks!
lol! It's not risky, it's throwing away money. You have no reps whatever, even I sent AmericanDesi the money first (my decision) because he's far more trusted than me. Reps matter.

@coolbreeze16 : Thanks for that mate..! I appreciate it.

Yes. Selling btc for paypal is strictly No-No for me. I have turned down thousands of dollars worth order just for that. Its always better to have YOUR btc in YOUR wallet than somebody else's.

180  Local / Marketplace (India) / Re: Want to export USBs and Blades to India. on: September 23, 2013, 07:02:51 PM
How much would each usb device cost ?

Whats the hash rate each usb miner / blades will give now ?

Pinwheel is officially the reseller for India. Try to contact him and he should have some stock and shipping locally will not acquire customs.
