161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin = Nerd money or not? on: May 30, 2019, 02:02:28 AM
I recently watched the movie Goosebumps 2 with my kids and Bitcoin was once again mentioned briefly in this movie. The one boy mentioned Bitcoin and the other boy called it Nerd money.  Roll Eyes <My kids turned to me and said, Are you a nerd?>

So it got me thinking, why would people label Bitcoin as Nerd money, when people use electronic payment options like PayPal every day? What feature about Bitcoin gives people this impression about Bitcoin?

The first thing that comes to mind is the technical IT knowledge that people need to understand the concept about this technology and also it's origin amongst very highly skilled programmers and developers in the IT industry.

I am definitely not a nerd, but I am more than willing to carry that label, if it means that Bitcoin should be part of my skill and knowledge set in this world.  Grin

Bitcoin Nerds will rule this world! <Bill Gates is 100% proof of that>

That was a nice feat for Bitcoin because it is gaining popularity and being televised or placed in a segment of a movie will help the platform of Bitcoin to be improved. If its called nerd money, then a lot of people would be proud to be called a nerd because they are gaining money in a way of thinking. Bitcoin is not for those people who wants instant money but it is for people who also want to work hard and gain it thru hardships.
162  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop chasing the "next" bitcoin on: May 30, 2019, 01:52:14 AM

Lol, this is so true. I urge everyone to really put the majority of your investments on bitcoin to avoid getting REKT in the future. Well, you can still invest on some altcoin but at least the your portfolio should be like more than half on bitcoin, just saying.

This is quite true because we already knew that a lot of founders who have made another cryptocurrency brands their platform that it will be the next Bitcoin. We cannot blame the founders if this is what they want and due to uncontrollable instances, their plans wont just fit in the right way. Bitcoin is bitcoin and other Alternate Cryptocurrencies are there because of Bitcoin. What we can do is invest on different Alternate Cryptocurrencies that also has values but do not invest all of your money in a single Crypto.
163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency investment on: May 26, 2019, 05:14:36 PM
Losses are part of investments. There will always come a time where you will be feeling down due to sudden drops in the values of cryptocurrencies that you have invested on and you have to be tactical to prevent this losses. You can spread your investments into a lot of Alternate Cryptos and wait whether whichever is profitable.
164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you still bother to engage non Bitcoiners? on: May 26, 2019, 05:11:33 PM
I was perusing another forum today with a long running cryptcurrency thread. To my non amazement they're still debating the nature of the whole thing in the exact same way they were 2-3-4-5 years ago. The same people are waiting to be convinced. The same people are trying to convince them.

This strikes me as a complete and utter waste of calories. I'd rather let people believe what they want. Me convincing them won't help anyone. They're not going to convince me of anything. My attitude is - crypto is here. You may as well sit back and see what happens as nothing I do, say or listen to will change it.

Are you still embroiled in debates with friends and internet creeps or have you let it slide?

It would be absolutely a waste of time trying to bother those who are not open minded to things that they do not even know. They are ignoring the fact that Cryptocurrency is one of the best things ever invented using the available technology in the present time. Learning about blockchain technology will give us a lot of opportunities and we should not waste our time on close minded people.
165  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC vs USD - Which one is better? on: May 25, 2019, 03:11:09 PM
These guys have some interesting stuff going on here https://cryptotradernews.com/cryptocurrency/bitcoin-vs-usd-for-storing-value-purposes/

Today, I would personally pick USD as it can be used world wide and for a variety of purposes. However, if BTC were to stop being JUST a speculative asset I would contemplate making the switch. I like being in control of my cash without having to depend on some greedy bank!

Thoughts?

Choosing between the two will give us many reasons why the other is better than the other. They both have their pros and cons in terms of availability, security and stability. Bitcoin is based on the Internet while USD is based on USA which is a physical being. We can gain USD if we work and same for Bitcoin. Their values are different because we cannot control Bitcoin yet in terms of which will gain control over it.
166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will mining be profitable again? on: May 24, 2019, 02:42:10 PM
Mining was always profitable. It was never not profitable in a way because of the fact that the only investment you are making is energy. You only need to remind yourself that there are times that you need to withdraw the value that you have mined. Mining is one of the easiest way to earn if you still do not know how the forum works and everybody can learn how to mine. Mining was how i started to learn and be interested in Cryptocurrency.
167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The biggest Crime in cryptocurrency on: May 24, 2019, 02:08:49 PM
There are a lot of crimes that revolves around Cryptocurrency. Users of Cryptocurrency are always bothered with being hacked and they are not doing a thing about it. They should stay vigilant when using websites that are not trusted and not properly endorsed. Some crime involves governments and for me, that is one big crime involving Cryptocurrency because not all countries are knowledgeable about Cryptocurrency and it may be possible for users to abuse it in that country. It may be manipulated in a wrong way and might be used to gain more power thru wealth.
168  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IS BITCOIN ATM PROFITABLE BUSINESS ? on: May 23, 2019, 12:34:45 PM
For the past few week i having thinking about Starting My own  bitcoin ATM company , i have been  doing allot of research about it and its seems there going to high  cost as start up  .. My country is the one top 5 africa countries that uses bitcoin but yet i have never seen any bitcoin ATM here . I really need advice from you guys .  Is bitcoin A profitable Business and if you any manufactures of this ATM you can recommend to me !!

This might be one risky move but it is worth taking the risk. Before starting an Bitcoin ATM, you at least a lot of promotion and proper limitations about the availability of the machine. Starting a company based on Cryptocurrency might be hard because not everyone is knowledgeable about Bitcoin. You at least need proper promotion and maybe help from some banks if they will see a profitable business in implementing a Bitcoin ATM.
169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Scammers are lazy on: May 22, 2019, 08:18:11 AM
For me, scammers are hardworking people who practices bad behavior. They exert effort to steal someone's work or possessions. They are lazy in the fact that they do not want to earn on their own. We can stay away from scammers if we remain vigilant and be extra careful whenever we are using websites that are susceptible to threats.
170  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hope I can still ride the bull. on: May 22, 2019, 08:08:49 AM
I've been away from the forum for the past few months because of some projects that needs full attention. I've never even opened or read any news about bitcoin's performance for the past few months until I bumped a very good friend of mine and told me that bitcoins on the bull. So I checked online and seen some good greens and was very much excited to get back into trading.

I've already lost track of the current events regarding crypto so I need to catch up and get back to the forum again to gain some vital information.

I just found out that the only trading platform I used to trade got hacked. (Binance)

I really wanted to play part of the bull runs and wanted to earn profit so I'd like to ask for your help and suggestions on what trading platforms I may use as of the moment

Thanks in advance! More power to you guys!  Wink

There is always time for Cryptocurrencies because as long as we have unlimited access to the internet, we can access it on our freewill. We can still learn a lot about new Cryptocurrencies because there are still a lot of platforms being developed that uses alternate Cryptocurrencies. We can still ride the bull as long we work hard to earn what we want.
171  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin reached 8000 - and what next? on: May 21, 2019, 01:35:06 PM
The value of Bitcoin and other Cryptocurrencies are always fluctuating. Bitcoin will stay on the top of the market due to the fact that it is widely used and known to most countries. Even though we expect the increase in value of these cryptocurrencies, what we must look forward to is the stability of the value because it is important for buyers to consider the stability of the token or crypto value.
172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are ICO's Dead? on: May 20, 2019, 03:20:33 PM
We still cannot say if Initial Coin Offerings (ICO's) are dead because as long are there are new Alternate Cryptocurrencies being developed, it must still undergo ICO's. Its a critical stage of their promotion and a stage where they may know whether the platform they are creating will be used in the long run. They just need a good promotion for their ICO's to make people believe that they will not get scammed.
173  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin be considered a Religion? on: May 20, 2019, 09:14:16 AM
Considering how many Bitcoin believers (maximalists) there are, with their specific beliefs of how cryptocurrency should behave, it's becoming more evident that Bitcoin is a religion. After all, this popular movement of decentralized finance has impacted our lives one way or the other. The world has its eyes on the direction of Bitcoin as a digital currency which determines the path forward of Blockchain technology.

According to Google, the term "Religion" means the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods. This becomes true especially when many Bitcoin followers believe that Satoshi is some sort of "god". Hence, if Satoshi would reveal himself to the public, many people will follow him.

Nonetheless, what are your thoughts about this? Huh

This must be one of the most questionable questions ever made because of the fact that Bitcoin is far from being a religion. Bitcoin is a Cryptocurrency where we can access thru the internet. We may have faith in Bitcoin, but treating it as an religion is not one of the things that we should do. Bitcoin has united a lot of people who are willing to learn about Blockchain and other Cryptocurrencies available in the industry and i guess that is the best way how Bitcoin works, we support it that way.
174  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is Climbing Up. on: May 19, 2019, 04:46:46 PM
We cannot be too sure about what is happening at the moment but what we can do is support the change we are experiencing. Bitcoin is still in a phase where it will experience a lot of ups and downs but wont be gone. Bitcoin is still the same old Cryptocurrency that is versatile and usable wherever available. We just need to be careful on how we keep it because carelessness may lead to losses.
175  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Rising, Scams Rising on: May 19, 2019, 02:31:30 AM

With the continuing trend of an upward Bitcoin price, we should be expecting more and more incentives for scammers, hackers, phishers and similar people to be trying their best luring people out of their hard-earned money by promising them returns of investment with sky-is-the-limit proportions. And with new people coming in to the world of cryptocurrency, there can be many who can easily fall victims to different schemes leaving participants with empty bags later and some blaming Bitcoin for their predicaments. Newbies and even veterans alike should be careful at all times and always remember that if something is too good to be true then most probably it is...

It is sad that for people in the media any scam that uses Bitcoin as the medium of exchange or currency is labeled as Bitcoin scam but when a scam is using the fiat money it is not in anyway called as the Dollar scam.

Have you been a victim of an elaborate cryptocurrency-related scam that cost you some money? Please share some details here so we can all learn from each other's mistakes...

This is a sad news for new investors because some of them are already giving a large amount of their money into something they do not know how it works. It is hard to earn money but for scammers, all it takes are orchestrated set of lies to make someone believe on what their investing on is true. We should just stay vigilant and learn to work alone unless we meet them personally. We cannot remove these threats in the system because they are also users like us and it is hard to be differentiated from them because they are also anonymous users.
176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain Gaming and It's Future on: May 19, 2019, 02:25:35 AM
Hey there!
Lately i have been on a lookout for blockchain games, which i think is quite a hot topic now.

There are some where the whole gameplay is looking at the picture of a token you mined, and on the other hand - games with actual gameplay, for what it's worth.
Besides obvious Cryptokitties, i've assembled a list of games that took my attention:

1) CryptoSpaceX - beautiful space-themed project, they released Ep.1 i think, but i haven't looked at it much since July, so i might be wrong.

2) Ethercraft - you could say it's a roguelike-ish kind of game? Nice pixel graphics, live market.

3) CryptoSaga - for those of you, who loved jRPG's, here's a cool one. Animations is decent, have potential.

4) Ether Kingdoms - cute red\blue dorks mine themselves, and then go to battles to die. Very good art, and gameplay is decent too.

5) EtherRock - i wanted to include that one, because the idea is just funny. It reminds me of infamous potato salad kickstarter, in regards of effort, but those rocks are selling still.

6) Angel Battles - PvP oriented game, as far as i figured, very nice art, in my opinion, but the breeding part (regarding Angels) got me surprised a little bit there.

7) CryptoFights - 3D graphics aren't something to write home about, but gameplay seems interesting. PvP is my jam.

So, that's not at all everything that i laid my eyes upon, but those are prime examples i'd say, at least for me. I do, of course, enjoy interaction with another people in MMO games,
so my favorits are a little bit biased: numbers 1, 4, 6, 7. What are your opinions on future of blockchain gaming? If You have some games you've already tried, share your experience.
I'd like to add to list of things something new to look at, maybe even invest, as i strongly believe, that blockchain gaming possibilities are almost limitless.

Creating games for the Platform really improves their Market stability because some users prefer to invest on something they enjoy to use. These types of platforms are really hard to make because you are integrating a lot of programs into a single lot. Integrating Blockchain into gaming will prevent creating Cheats for the game and with that, it will be a friendly community gaming while earning or using the specified Crypto.
177  Economy / Speculation / Re: what will happen if BTC hit 1.000.000$ on: May 19, 2019, 02:19:04 AM
hi guys
if BTC hit 1 million $ in the future what will happen
do u think we will see more hack news
More violence and criminalization of bitcoin holders by governments
Any events we will see ?

This question has a large pool of answers. Bitcoin hitting 5000$ was already a milestone that was so hard to achieve and everyone thought Bitcoin was a Bubble. I guess while Bitcoin increases its value, the number of Alternate Cryptocurrencies will also increase. Maybe there will come a time where governments will step in to regulate the value and set some limitations on how we can access Bitcoin. Violence may also increase due to the fact that people are greedy.
178  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you protect your digital coins? on: May 17, 2019, 04:37:38 PM
Protecting our own Cryptocurrency must be the same on what we feel about losing cash. We must be vigilant to see whether we are still looking at a safe website or are we using the proper websites that can trade and transfer cryptos. We must also place extra authentications if able because we can be sure that our cryptocurrency can be only accessed by us or by their own users. Cryptos are really hard to hack unless youre careless. Carelessness may lead to big losses and we can prevent that by thinking carefully.
179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WHAT TO DO ABOUT 2019? on: May 17, 2019, 04:34:05 PM
There are still a lot of options on how to earn Alternate Cryptocurrencies but joining Airdrops will be a little bit scary because some of them may sound legit but after a little research, its not even gonna make the market due to poor development of the system or it is a fraud.

We can still earn by HODLing and joining long campaigns that requires a lot of patience.
180  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would Bitcoin be the same if Satoshi wasn't anonymous? on: May 15, 2019, 08:34:11 AM
How would the crypto arena be different if everyone knew who Satoshi was?

It would be very alarming for Satoshi himself. People would ask a lot of uneccessary questions. Cryptocurrency might not be the same because we will see someone that is controlling or even though he is not controlling Bitcoin, people might still feel being controlled because they know who made it. Being anonymous was a great decision made by Satoshi.
