161  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 5830's from Tigerdirect question on: June 11, 2011, 04:00:17 AM
I bought the combo that is supposed to be bundled together. It just sucks that they messed it up. I was going to sell those keys to make up for not being able to qualify for more than 2 rebates per household.
162  Bitcoin / Mining / 5830's from Tigerdirect question on: June 11, 2011, 01:47:41 AM
Did anyone that ordered the XFX bundled with Shogun2 not get their game codes?
163  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Threatened Over My Bitcoin Ad on: June 10, 2011, 11:48:37 PM
Juicy stuff, can't wait to hear Mr. Ipad2's response.
164  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Cooperative mining (1.5Thash/s) on: June 10, 2011, 11:07:44 PM
A  three hour block with 1.5 THash? Guess the ddos broke this block or something Sad

 Undecided

You can probably drop the CPU down a bit since there's not really a reason for Quad Core with what you're planning on doing.  You can probably go with either one of these, save yourself $80 and be fine.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103903

The other thing to be worried about is that case might be a bit too tight with those two cards.  It'll probably fit, but really cram stuff together.  Luckily your vid cards have the power pins on top, so that should be alright.

Those 6950's are pretty good and if you are a gambler, you could always flash them with a bios to unlock some of the extra shaders (don't do the 6970 bios flash, just find the 6950 shader unlock flash..)

Thank you, switched to the first CPU. I'll also do some research on what the heck "flashing the bios to unlock the extra shaders" even means Wink Tip sent.

if you want to flash the 6950 bios to unlock shaders you will need a reference model. You can tell the reference from non reference since reference models have the fan on 1 side while non reference models usually have the fan near the middle.

like this : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127555&cm_re=radeon_6950-_-14-127-555-_-Product
that is a reference model. Buy fast cause these will be gone too since the 5830's are being eaten up the 6950's that can flash to 6970 will be next to go probably.
166  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Dual 5870s, 600 MH/s stock settings on: June 09, 2011, 10:39:10 AM
yeah i just switched over to phoenix... i am getting 344 with aggression = 7.  I'm getting 91c/71c.  Its in an air conditioned basement.  The cards are pretty much stacked right on top of one another... using the catalyst control center, 900mhz is the lowest i can go on the memory clock, and gpu clock is currently 850.

Once I just bumped down the memory to 900, im noticing it still runs at about 339 MH/s, but periodically dips down into the 250's.  Any tips based on all of that info?

you might want to try to get that first card cooler.
167  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: pci-e risers new rig on: June 05, 2011, 08:00:34 PM
Ebay is cheapest but most sellers are not from USA so it'll take a while. Cablesaurus is from US but its pricier.
168  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 6990x2 rig fluxuating up and down in hash rate on: June 05, 2011, 07:59:31 PM
Let me guess that number 2 on MSI is your main card right? I'm pretty sure main card runs hotter than others, I see that anyway with my rig. Just don't oc it as much as the others.

Here's an example with 3 - 5870's:

Main 5870 Core = 905mhz, 85c
Second Card    = 960mhz, 75c
Third Card       = 970mhz, 73c
169  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Cooperative mining (700Ghash/s) on: June 05, 2011, 07:55:41 PM
That's normal, sometimes your total reward will drop and come back when the pool is sorting out new confirmed reward. I posted about that a few pages back and thought there was a problem.
170  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Cooperative mining (700Ghash/s) on: June 05, 2011, 07:44:17 PM
what is this ´?

#                 Block found             Duration   Total shares    Your reward    Block #   Validity   Cluster GHash/S   Your MHash/S
5152    2011-06-05 19:27:54    0:34:11    383050    none    128833    97 left

my miners are working !

anyone else with this statistic ?

I had a reward for that block
171  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Cooperative mining (700Ghash/s) on: June 05, 2011, 11:17:52 AM
Wow...and the next  5min block came after this.

6:33 but who's counting? That was a very nice/fast run of rounds though  Grin

Subscribed to this thread. Interested in 5830 settings as my next rig will consist mostly of them.
173  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Opinion on this PSU please on: June 04, 2011, 10:05:55 PM
A nice PSU, though you might could get better amperage on some nicer ones.
"+3.3V@24A, +5V@30A, +12V1@36A, +12V2@36A, +12V3@36A, +12V4@36A, -12V@0.5A, 5VSB@3.0A"

Still, 36A is nothing to scoff at and definitely nicer than lesser PSUs, go for it.

I personally like the Corsairs 80gold psu's http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139014
THough this model does have a shared 12v rail.

Yea but I'm being a cheapo here. Only want what is needed for my setup and that's it. Thouse Corsair 80gold is nice though but pricey.
174  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Opinion on this PSU please on: June 04, 2011, 10:04:13 PM
Yea underclocking memory is a must.  My 3-5870 setup right now has main 325-330 mem clock on all of them and I use this as my everyday computer lol.

My main rig is a 3x5870 setup and I do the same as you heh. Although I will have to adjust the memory back up manually because my friends are getting annoyed with me for not gaming with them (want to keep all my gpu power hashing!)

HAHA I feel you on that.

176  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mt.Gox and the influence on the market on: June 04, 2011, 08:58:17 PM

this proves my pt about why dark pools should be disallowed.  all it takes is one person with superior knowledge to destabilize the level playing field.  MagTux is the only one who has the complete view of all orders and this is enabled by the dark pools. (this is not an allegation against him at all)

I don't know how you can squeak by on 'no offense' when you make a statement like "MagTux is the only one who has the complete view of all orders". So, what are you implying?

He just stated a fact that's all, and he is right. MagicTux(and his staff if he has one) is the only person with eyes on everything. Even the dark pool orders can't see other people's dark orders
177  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Cooperative mining (700Ghash/s) on: June 04, 2011, 08:52:04 PM
How come stats don't show connected workers anymore slush?

Originally the site was on same machine as getwork loadbalancer and I detected connected workers by netstat tool. Then I moved web to separate machine, so netstat (locally) is not usable. I need to find some better solution, until then this information will be not available on the site.

Currently there is ~8400 connected workers.

Oh cool, was just curious where it went. Keep up the good work  Wink
178  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Opinion on this PSU please on: June 04, 2011, 08:37:13 PM
Well I don't dare to be in your shoes. Example: Current rig, 3-5870's 850w Corsair. I want to play it safe and have headroom so I don't shorten the life of my psu too much. Plus the PSU in question is really good pricing for a 1k watt so why not  Tongue

But that link of the review you put up OCP did say they don't feel the rating is right. Guess maybe they don't feel its up to gold specs, even if it falls under 80 plus silver, that is still super cheap.
179  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Opinion on this PSU please on: June 04, 2011, 08:13:01 PM
I don't feel qualified to rate PSUs, so I leave it to the experts. HardOCP is typically considered a reputable review source and they say:

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2011/02/23/raidmax_rx1000ae_1000w_power_supply_review/9

That it is a pass (pass in this case actually means really good and reliable, not the best necessarily but it should handle what it says it will handle).

That's actually a pretty good price for a PSU of that quality and size so I will save you from my usual speech about spending too much money on an oversized PSU.

enjoy!

Yea was browsing for a new psu since my current one is a Corsair TX850 but only running 3 5870's. Next one will run 4 cards so a 1k watt should be just about right.
180  Bitcoin / Mining / Opinion on this PSU please on: June 04, 2011, 08:05:15 PM
Planning to build another rig in the near future and I'll probably run 3-5830's + 5870.
Everything else will be minimal except psu. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817152044
Seems like this is the cheapest 80 gold 1000w. Opinions would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
