jajajaja in fact!!! those are so unreal that I can`t understand how people buy it!!
But, sadly, is common to see how many people fall into those shameless scams, despite the fake they appears.

Also, if you see on their website those typical "too-beautiful" faces, taken from some random other website, and also the typical commentaries below as:
"It changed my life" (along a picture of a good-looking fella), or,
"I didn`t believe this at first, but it is real" (the same a picture of a random-generic-good-looking fella).

Just RUN. The most beauty the people looks on an ICO website, the most probability of a scam.
True story jajajaja.  Tongue

... for instance:

Look at those commentaries"!! There are just soooo realistic!!! Look at their common faces, all with selfies in their facebook profile, as all the people always do. Behold! They are just talking if the ICO is real!! sharing their experiences!!! I`m convinced!!  Grin Grin Grin

Hago otro bump.

Good work, also funny to read, even when it is a serious topic, the way you wrote it truly make me smile. Thanks, that could be a boring issue and you turned it into a good reading.

I have one further question. What`s your opinion on the Poloniex issue? I mean: recently they implemented new requirements to their users, as personal information even for small amounts, or even a pick of their faces. All the users have their accounts locked, along with their funds, as long as they do not accomplish the recent new requirements. I`ve been searching on the internet about that, but nothing seems to be happening, so has Poloniex all the right to do that?
What`s going to happen with all those funds? Is Poloniex keeping them?
Are the other exchanges going by the same way?

167  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Does modern civilization is currently progressing or declining? on: June 18, 2018, 03:56:27 PM
If we're talking about health, then yeah. Modern technology makes it so that more and more people with genetic problems live longer and longer, and naturally such people have more kids. A person with a heart condition that would had died in their teens now lives to their mid 30s lets say. In the past those genes would had been taken out of the gene pool, but now it's more spread out in the population. So in that sense it declines.

Besides the genetic issue, I`d like to point out an Aldous Huxley statement, written in his marvellous book "The Island": "Both of us victims of the same twentieth-century plague. Not the Black Death, this time; the Gray Life.'

Even though the life expectancy has increased in the last century (please notice this just happened in some areas of the world), the new human plague is mental illness. Depression has become the first cause of violent death in many countries, for the people has "everything" but a sense of worth-living. As Huxley used to say, "Gray life is the new plague", and he spoke about that almost a century ago.
The human race is divided between those who died because of hunger and sickness and those who died because they can`t see the point of living anymore (having everything can lead to a feeling of despair as well).
Mental illness seems to be a "first world" problem, but how profound is it? We are talking about a species willing to death due to the lack of sense of their own existence.
How is the dehumanization of the human race leading towards a self-sense of pointless life? And, at the same time, how many people starve to death?
I think, ethologically speaking, that the human race is suffering the result of denaturalization, as Konrad Lorenz used to say. The most apart from nature an animal lives, the bigger probability of developing mental illness. Somehow we tend to forget about how important mental illness is into the development of a society, but it is a collateral damage in our path towards decay.

Besides, the way abstraction is taking place in its replacement of reality is making people get sick. For instance, social media, "cyberlife". How much are new mental illness appearing each day thanks to the new abstract way of communication between humans?

Just some more questions to add to the OP.

<...>

Neal Stephenson is also well known for the cyberpunk novel Snow Crash.

Thanks!!!! I will look at it! recently I was laking of some good readings, so this is nice to hear about some.
Anyway, my interest right now is about novels that predicted the future, crypto, if possible. I think this requires a nice comparative analysis with "reality", so any recommendation is more than welcomed!

Thanks to all

Not yet any applicant here. I like to help but nobody here  Huh . Should I move the topic ?

Sorry to hear that, it was such a nice initiative... maybe just be patient.
In the Spanish board, there was also a similar attempt with the same result. Sometimes it is difficult to try to help others, I can`t guess why maybe the people is ashamed of showing the post they make, maybe there are not people with the characteristics you mentioned.
Maybe you can open the thread to all those about to rank-up, including members, full members, etcétera. Why not? It should open the thread to more people and maybe you can get what you want: to help others!!

DISCLAIMER: I found the "Eternal Trust" Airdrop Campaign to have too many spammers, and they usually just copy-paste the same all over the forum. Yesterday, three got banned, but I`ve just found more.
Is the problem the airdrop manager? Or the users?
Anyway, those are the spammers I found today related again to the Eternal trust bounty, but it seems there are a lot more in other languages:

Eternal Trusts is the world’s first blockchain platform for deferred purchase of currently unavailable biomedical and other services.
The Eternal Trust solution will incorporate two blockchains: Global Trusts Goals (GTG) and Global Trusts Crypto (GTC). The first one is based on neural network and will be used for publishing objectives, selecting providers, etc. The second Eternal Trust blockchain will record all financial and token transactions.
The Eternal Trust has built an ERC-20 token (ETT). The Eternal Trust token will be used for storing the information on the blockchain and automated search for providers. Token holders can spend them, inter alia, on the latest medical services provided by the Eternal Trust’s partners.

Most blockchains at the moment are thinking about the present and developing projects to solve current problems in the world, but Eternaltrust is already thinking and making current dreams a reality in the future. One further question. I`ve seen all those users where active today, but I don`t know how to see if they are already been banned or not.
Sorry for that, I`m kind of new in the "reporting scammers" matter.
EDIT. They are not banned yet. They are online.
They are copy-pasting the same topics from one to another, that`s why I believe they are just alts of the same person. Probably there are more.
176  Other / Serious discussion / Cryptonomicon on: June 12, 2018, 11:37:17 PM
We are used to speaking about how George Orwell`s "1984" or "A brave new world", by Huxley described our actual society almost a century ago. And, of course, they did.
Besides, there are other several books describing how the future may look, as "Farenheit 451", by Bradbury (I think the massive books cremation is not happening-yet).

Last week a friend told me about a book he has read and, even when he`s not into crypto, as well as he was describing the book, I thought more and more about it. "Wow, it seems so similar to the cryptocurrencies and the blockchain technology!!!" -my thoughts were.

So I went and look for the book: "Cryptonomicon", by Neal Stephenson, published in 2002.
I downloaded the book from this source: http://oceanofpdf.com/pdf-epub-cryptonomicon-download/

From what I`ve read so long, this is awesome.
I will edit the topic when I finish it if you like, but, for the moment, a recommended novel to read in holidays.

Have you read the book? What are your impressions about it?
How other novelist do you feel that described the crypto world before even happening?

179  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Does modern civilization is currently progressing or declining? on: June 12, 2018, 04:43:19 PM
Do you believe that in ancient times (like a thousand years ago) people had a better living, or were wiser, braver, or had any special knowledge?  Suffered less or more? Had better social order?  I am looking forward to hearing your opinion and arguments and strongly appreciate links to relevant academic articles and books you can advise.

Well, it depends on what time in history are you asking about, and, also, about what means to you the concept of progress.

I am a PhD researched dedicated to ancient rock-art. In my studies, I`ve come to realize that the humans from the Palaeolithic time (from Magdaleniense, for instance, about 40.000- 10.000 when mostly of the great caves where painted) were used to live in harmony with nature. In that era, it is difficult to find signs of violence between humans in the rock art, on the contrary, most of the art show hunting scenes, mythical animals, some rituals, and so.
Once the era known as Neolithic appears, there was a huge change in human behaviour. For instance, citys began to be walled for the first time in history, and religious specialist appears, as long as war-scenes in rock art.
Maybe that was caused by a climate change, maybe this is just when the humanrace begin to spread too much.

I think over population is a big problem, to be honest. When people concentrate in a small place, then bad things happen, nature is attacked, natural resources are exploded, all is contaminated, and etc. So, under the point of getting adapted to the enviroment, I think human race is declining.

One another curiosity: dental cavities first appears in paleomedicine after the agriculture "revolution". Before that, it wasn`t an issue to human health and, also, they used to live longer (from paleolithic the average was about 40, in neolithic about 30, due to sick and war).

Now, there have been eras to humanity. One of my best friends is a genome researched. She always tell me how the human genes are declining, for they are not longer exposed to the nature, and all the people survives, even when their genetic information is not the best. In the past, a human with gen problem will not survive, and probably never has descendants. So, also, genetically speaking, we are declining.

Regarding the accomplishments of human race, ok, we have accomplished a lot, but, under my perspective, we haven`t resolv yet the most important issues of recent history:
- War.
- HUnger.
- The end of natural resources.

"Homo homini  lupus", I`m afraid.
Of course, I consider myself a naturalist, so I believe, in conclusion, we are declining.

An interesting book about it is "Anarchy evolution", by Greg Graffin (Bad Religion singer and also PhD in evolution research).
And, also, there is one of my favourites books, related: Konrad Lorenz, "Civilized man's eight deadly sins", you can download it for free in here: http://www.freepdf.info/index.php?post/Lorenz-Konrad-Civilized-man-s-eight-deadly-sins
(it is one of my favourites author, also winner of a well-deserved Nobel price for his amazing contribution to humanity, in Medicine, Ethology, history.. a wise man)

I think you are going to love it.

Absolutely this thread I post for new member's. So that they also know them. On the other hand many old members may be don't know them. Even we all know them , we must appreciate them for their hard work. It's my little try to bring them front of all.

I like the idea, and, also, I think it can be truly useful for newbies, for they can see them as an example.
For instance, the two ones I proposed earned all those merits in no time, because their activity is awesome. Maybe they can serve as an example for all those newbs that believe they have no chance of earning merits.
