5th: Do not trust PUBLIC WIFI

It's quite good to have access with free wifi's but have you think this: IS THIS A SAFE NETWORK? without you knowing maybe some of the people connected to that same network may have idea and skill on how to sniff passwords and credentials this method was so called DNS SPOOFING or SNIFFING if you want to use public wifi then use it not just with your bitcoin transactions.

This is one of the best things to say for some bitcoin beginners. They always tend to be happy and enjoy public FREE wifis. But they don't even know what the risk is.

If you check the DNS of a wifi network you will see that it is different and I find somehow unusual. Yes, they have their own DNS server. Most of the wifi networks I know is using 192.168.1.1 (to get from the ISP) as DNS, the OpenDNS DNSs (208.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220) as DNS or 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4 DNS from Google.

If I'm unfamiliar with the DNS I don't do bitcoin transactions or any login attempt. Most case's I don't use it.

yes mostly spoofing the network is hard to see but if you are using some sort of securing your DNS then there is a way to protect you but believe it or not most of people don't configure their network and security

I agree, and they ought to know how or why. For those who don't know you can actually edit the current DNS server you are using to any of the DNSs you like.

On Android, I believe it is the wifi settings. Tap and hold the network you are connected and select modify. There you can change the DNS.
On PC Windows, right click the network icon in the tray, it be Wifi or Lan icon. Open Network and Internet settings, Goto Network and Sharing, in connections, click on the network your at, click on properties, and double click on IPv4. There you can change your DNS settings.

Just make sure it is the right DNS or you will not be able to access a website. But you can still connect and modify.

Yes it pretty much easy just need a little research make sure use a secure dns

I don't know. The OP received a lot of merit but I think it only addresses online wallets and only very superficially. Some really basic advice is just not present (have a separate device for 2FA than you use for browsing web - don't use your phone to login and as a 2FA at the same time) and offline wallet advice is missing entirely. I suggest to OP that the work he started is very valuable but please include more deeply advise.

it's not about merit I never force them to give me merit this is just a simplification of the methods I actually breaking it down on my other post if you just dig enough you can see it's basic if you can see this as basic but basic things can protect you if you want more advance just dig on my topics never complain about something that it the only intention is to help not to profit it's better to post the things like this than to post redundant post like "is it time to buy bitcoin", I think the givers are found this helpful  Undecided

in fact you can actually find those deep explanation with video presentation on my profile just dig up first

The easiest way for you to protect your crypto currency is by keeping it in an offline wallet,
A hard ware wallet is a good one for keeping your crypto safe (Nano Ledger,Trezor) You could also use a paper wallet if you don’t have enough money to buy a hard ware wallet just becareful in securing it.

using hardware wallets is a great idea and great precaution to prevent hacking scenario but there are lot of people that can't afford to buy one since they are newbie they only rely on free and online
164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HOW TO STOP HACKERS TO HACK YOUR CRYPTO WALLET on: May 18, 2018, 12:19:36 PM
I do not think hackers can attack your wallet if you do not create opportunities for them. Hackers need a certain amount of information to be able to attack your wallet, so your disclosure of personal information is the reason why you hacked.

yes that's true most of the hackers rely on personal information then after that they make a best way to attack you but there are hackers who randomly hack people.
165  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HOW TO STOP HACKERS TO HACK YOUR CRYPTO WALLET on: May 18, 2018, 10:04:43 AM
Yeah thats all correct.. We should do all these for our own safety.. Hackers are just always around so we better be safe than sorry,. And as much as possible too dont let anyone touches your device the one with all your important notes or keys..

yes absolutely right don't let anyone unrelated people to you use your device like someone you don't know ask to borrow your device never do that that's ridiculous so the best way is to stay safe and stay secure
166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HOW TO STOP HACKERS TO HACK YOUR CRYPTO WALLET on: May 18, 2018, 09:25:01 AM
I give a little tip on this very useful OP. To avoid suspicious links and phishing sites, it helps us to bookmarks on important sites that we often use. Moreover, phishing sites often appear at this time, which can steal important information you have that can eventually make your wallet hacked.

I think that even you bookmark a safe site when u are under network spoofing there is no excuse but to avoid the site until the attack ends
167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HOW TO STOP HACKERS TO HACK YOUR CRYPTO WALLET on: May 18, 2018, 06:45:08 AM
Simple explanation and very useful information from the OP, I have some friends who got hacked recently and we don't know yet how they got hacked so this tips would prevent them on being hack on the future so I would share these post to them. thanks OP  Smiley Smiley

171  Local / Pilipinas / Re: SAVING PASSWORD IS A BIG SECURITY RISK in your crypto wallet!!! on: May 17, 2018, 11:51:53 PM

Even you need ah admin password before opwnijh those password there are ways to bypass those or change those password if you think you are safe no you are not there are lots of program that can extracr your administrative passwprd

This is a good information and awareness for everyone to avoid getting hack or victim of scam...it always has to have back up for whatever may happen and not to be careless in our account or password even not easily be swayed by any kind of malicious email or even tell someone your password because its confidential...thank you for sharing these.

yes telling your password to anyone is a bad idea for you wahahah I think just keep it in yourself
174  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HOW TO STOP HACKERS TO HACK YOUR CRYPTO WALLET on: May 17, 2018, 03:09:56 PM
How can I steal my data in public Wi-Fi if I use a hardware wallet for a transaction? Explain to me please. (Except for phishing, it's too primitive)
With a hardware wallet, it's really very hard for hackers to get access to them and with the web wallets that we are using, even when hackers get into the wallet if you have 2FA security enabled, they can't send out the bitcoins though they have access to it.

right sir hardware wallets are great

HOW TO STOP HACKERS TO HACK YOUR CRYPTO WALLET

Thank you for this comprehensive list on how to secure Bitcoins against hacks. I usually keep my Bitcoins in a paper wallet that was made offline. I used a fresh installation of Ubuntu and made sure that WIFI, and other signals such as Bluetooth were off. With this, I think that my Bitcoins could never be hacked or stolen, unless someone gets access to my paper wallet hidden at my place.

Therefore, it is up to the individual to secure his/her Bitcoins by following the necessary precautions to stay safe in a digital world full of hackers and scammers alike. Since Bitcoin is the most secure crypto in existence, it would be hard for a hacker to attack the Bitcoin network itself just to reverse transactions and get access to your funds (if you take the offline approach with a paper wallet). Smiley

thanks for passing by sir/mam if you have extra time you can share it to your friends to help them too this can spread the awareness more

there are many things that can we do for our sake of privacy and to help us in preventing our cryto wallets to hackers. Nowadays,  the development of our technology has been doing a lot of things in our society, it can be good or bad. But there are things that we should do for us to be safe and that is be aware and be knowledgeable about the hackers.

yes got a great point there sir but as the tech developed Smiley then the hackers gets more and more smarter than ever before who are the hacker they are the programmers also

It is very helpful and worth in reading specially on the brand new on this crypto currency many people got hack because they didn't know on how to protect their own coin and they didn't know on how to put the security to prevent being hack, I always put 2fa for evey account and I didn't log in on public wifi this is the very high risk on getting hack because if you connect public wifi many hacker can hack your account just use your own wifi.

providing a simple pocket wifi is not that hard that's why many people are depending on public wifi because it is free and no charge at all but as they use it they don't even understand the risk  this is to spread awareness to them
178  Local / Pilipinas / Re: SAVING PASSWORD IS A BIG SECURITY RISK in your crypto wallet!!! on: May 17, 2018, 01:58:14 PM

es saving in notepad or txt file is not that safe po Smiley why kasi pwede padin makuha sau ung file or what using other methods the best thing is that you will write it down

ou sir isa sa naisip ko gawen kung di maiwasan magsave ng copy sa computer is that encrypt it i have this beta program na ginawa ko for encryption using a great algorithm encryption you can simply navigate to this  link for data and information
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3821406.0

I've read the thread and I think that is great since gusto mo makatulong sa ating mga kababayan.

yes free software still in beta parin sia iniisip ko na gawen ung multiple private key or provide a nice GUI and somewhat do more upgrades soon
