161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: **[ANN]** Coin2 Will Be Launching FPS Game Soon ! [FPS Beta Test] on: July 13, 2014, 07:54:51 PM
Is it still the plan to only give the c2 pot to the player that comes in first? I'd be much more down to play this game if Rewards were given to the top 3 players.

Also, any update on release date?

Just getting caught up - besides the 6-stake sock puppet issue, which seems to be minor, or at least to have passed - why is the price going down? Is there anything else depressing it, or was that it?

Our price falls along with the NXT price as NEMStake is exclusively traded on the NXT AE and it's value is determined in NXT.

Question becomes:
Why price of NXT is falling?

klee was hacked it seems for 9m nxt; so nxt is being dumped i assume

when nothing gets released for a while interest starts to fade but there are major releases coming very soon so that will change very fast.

Ok I purchased some NEM stake on the NXT AE... How does it get distributed when the time comes?

Distribution method hasn't been fully decided yet. I believe the goal is to make it an automated process, though I could be wrong.

For all the complaints about the article - I don't see anyone having written an article themselves in order to publicize NEM.

The reality is this guy said he made $1500 just by commenting on an article and that's the stuff which appeals to the Average Joe.  We could easily circulate that article around the net on threads with titles like: "How I made $1500 just by posting a comment on an article" and the amount of views it would get is virtually unlimited and it's good publicity for NEM.  Any publicity is good publicity.

Don't forget that tons of people came into Crypto Currencies because they heard about Bitcoin hitting $1200.   Yes people came into Bitcoin just because of that and it gave them inspiration that they could repeat that sort of success by buying Bitcoin themselves or going into alternates.  Going years back, guys bragging about making a few bucks mining is what also brought in people into Bitcoin.

So yes I am certain if we circulated that article around the internet it would bring a lot of people into NEM.

I have to agree, yes the author is oblivious to NEM, and he has obviously been as good as a sockpuppet when it comes to making NEM what is is now, but I still think this is a great article for NEM, and that it could help get more attention from LTB followers, and Bitcoin followers in general.

Only time I heard NEM mentioned on LTB before today was when they were talking about Nxt AE, and NEM got a 2 minute blurb where the speaker was so oblivious about NEM he said it was based on C++ I believe  Grin
So I would say this is still a step in the right direction.

I'm a huge banksy fan, anyone that is unaware of him, watch "Exit Through the Giftshop", then read all the conspiracy theories behind it, get your mind blown haha  Grin

I'll take some free coin, thx!

I want to claim my NEM token. Who can help me? thanks

You can not claim NEMstakes for NEM until NEM is officially released a few months from now.
More info will come when it comes closer to launch time.
167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Moderated Thread - Open Alpha Has Launched[Updates & Discussion] on: July 11, 2014, 05:43:42 PM

Remember, Roger Ver offered a bounty of 37 btc for the head of his hacker and that was already a lot of money. A friend of the hacker wanted to turn him in for the money though police cut him first.

With this amount unforeseen forces could be set in motion.

Agreed, shit just got real, to say the least  Shocked Shocked
168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Moderated Thread - Open Alpha Has Launched[Updates & Discussion] on: July 11, 2014, 02:23:17 AM
Nem can now be purchased directly
For btc on the site http://www.secureae.com/

Totally secure and safe to use. Smiley

with btc ? do they convert btc to nxt before processing my order ?

i think so ya. you create an account. load it with btc. pay with btc. they send you the nem stake. we should promote this.

That's cool. I will check them out.

you essentially buy nxt through them. create account. user and password or secret phrase(use if you have a nxt account and want to open that one) the go to fund account, sent btc to address given and they give you nxt. at a very good rate too actually. think its the same as buying on bter. deducts about the same fee you would pay on bter. i would trust those guys before bter tbh

This is awesome, not a lot of info on the site, so I looked around and found this: https://nxtforum.org/secure-asset-exchange/introduction-to-secure-asset-exchange/
Really interesting, and I think it will help NEM a lot. I'll write up an article about this tonight.
169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Moderated Thread - Open Alpha Has Launched[Updates & Discussion] on: July 11, 2014, 02:12:30 AM
NxT's price is collapsing because one of the original NxT whales (40 million) downloaded a keylog file and presumably close to 7 million has been dumped by a hacker so far and another 33 million will be dumped.   He had passwords to wallets worth several $million on a text file on his desktop.

https://nxtforum.org/general-discussion/price-speculation/5440/

This does relate to NEM as it is entirely traded on the AE and NxT's price changes has a huge effect.  A $500 NEMstake is possible if NxT continues to drop in price.

This is why we are building a feature into NEM that should help prevent situations like this. Welcome to Crypto 2.5
woah is this a secret feature teaser? Smiley

It sounds like it  Shocked  Smiley
170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NEMStake unrightfully claimed - Full disclosure on: July 10, 2014, 06:14:18 AM
So... are we not to buy stakes from NEMstake? I missed the boat being a stakeholder.

If so, are we supposed to cross-reference from the list?

You can still but NEMstakes, what happened with the stolen stakes will not affect NEMstake holders.

Edit: Sorry I am not sure what you meant by the second part. Once you buy a NEMstake you just redeem it after NEMs official launch, you won't need to be on the stakeholder list if you bought off of AE.
171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ***NEM*** Should NEM organize the second stakeholder list auditing ? on: July 09, 2014, 04:14:40 PM
The vote has answered this. Call it off. Community has spoken.

as of right now, 20 people want a second audit, and 25 people don't want one. I don't think we can call it off yet.

ARGpentem will you be helping out with the audit if it happens, we need the community, dev and marketing team is quite busy.
172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Moderated Thread - Open Alpha Has Launched[Updates & Discussion] on: July 09, 2014, 04:01:36 PM
Haha thanks

Il write a plan for the raffle in a while, still on the go. Think it nerds to stick to btt for the mean time. Best way to ensure loads of sock puppets aren't used across various platforms. We could use all other media to promote it though.

Cool

Rafle is a great idea, I think one click install should be available first though. If we want to attract users outside of BTT, we need to make sure it's as easy to install as any other mainstream app.
173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ***NEM*** Should NEM organize the second stakeholder list auditing ? on: July 09, 2014, 02:45:51 AM
So I started this thread: http://forum.nemcoin.com/index.php?topic=2279.new#new
figured we could use with regards to a second public audit. Even if we don't do a second public audit, I think my proposal would still be a good idea. (My plan was originally brought up by ARGpentem, I thought he had a good idea, so I went with it)
174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Moderated Thread - Open Alpha Has Launched[Updates & Discussion] on: July 09, 2014, 02:41:46 AM
I found more.  P9 - BestofSR, cryptonikus, Deftonikus, Djentriser and TeseracT.  Busted as socks on NODE.
All present on the NEM stakeholder list, haven't collected any tokens yet.

This looks pretty extensive.  It's a good chance that all the socks on NODEs' list are probably on the NEM list.  Seems like some had collected tokens (and presumably sold).  The others can still be refunded.

another audit i think may be in the making here. or we just check all the socks that node uncovers. Smiley

socks around the world will be shaking in their boots! :L

Is the audit being done? I propose stopping issuing of the asset tokens, remove any sockpuppet possible and then restart again. Sockpuppets will get through but if they are known then its criminal to let them be.

I think the community should organize another audit of the stakeholder list. The dev team is too busy coding to do that and I think it would be really great if someone would take the initiative and get this done. Post-V1, the community needs to run NEM, so people should start taking some steps in that direction.

I propose:

1. A full validation of the stakeholder list. All account stakeholder should have a link to the original registration post next to their account.

2. A full redo of population statistics. All account stakeholder should have a post count next to their account.

3. All low post stakeholder need to be rechecked for sock puppets. ---> if there is no explanation then remove them from stakeholder list.

I totally agree with these proposals. Can someone/a group of people come forward and try to start working on this? If it is too hard to coordinate things here, please feel free to create a thread on http://forum.nemcoin.com/

I can coordinate this if some more people come forward. IMO this auditing should be done here because stakeholder accounts are bitcointalk accounts and they may be required to provide explanation etc.

If I am not qualified because I am not an original stakeholder, that is fine too but I did buy 2+ stakes in AE exchange. If someone has a secret method, feel free to pm but all auditing should be done in public in a clear transparent manner.

As a holder of NEMstake you are qualified, and not being an original stakeholder is probably a good thing because you will be less biased. You can probably get a few people to help if you start on something. We already did taint analysis before, but UP was involved in that (though I am not sure to what extent, because Patmast3r and some other user (sorry I forget the name, can someone remind me?) took the lead on that). If the community can do an independent audit, that would be good I think, though it should take a lot of time. Compiling pop stats and adding post counts, etc, seems like a good first step.

People were allowed up to 2 stakes (1 per account), because of stakes for loved ones, etc. I think that is why a lot of accounts were created just for NEM and then never heard from again. Part of it is because some people came to NEM that were not regular crypto users, so they may not come to BTT.

I will start doing a more indepth analysis of the stakeholder list, I'll discuss it more over here: http://forum.nemcoin.com/index.php?topic=2279.new#new
175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ***NEM*** Should NEM organize the second stakeholder list auditing ? on: July 09, 2014, 02:21:38 AM
Yes, in wake of the 6 free stakes that were just handed out recently, I vote yes.

6 stakes is enough to crash the price of NEMstake, for the moment.

that was a mistake, wasnt down to sock puppets. they were claimed by an impostor of sorts.

If there was a way to inactivate these particular stakes I would do that.

No way to do that, since AE is completely decentralized, theres no "admin" to talk to about this matter

177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Moderated Thread - Open Alpha Has Launched[Updates & Discussion] on: July 08, 2014, 05:43:28 AM

Nothing will stop someone from making a tumbling service that will automagically tumble your NEM around a bunch of nodes. Depending on the jurisdiction, that could be illegal and thus should probably not be in the main system.

Exactly, having anonymous feature won't help us get mass adoption IMO, I think anonymous accounts could do the opposite.
Something done as an addon to NCC for example, would probably be better.
178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Moderated Thread - Open Alpha Has Launched[Updates & Discussion] on: July 08, 2014, 01:36:25 AM

Very interesting, I'll keep my eye on that. Anonymous transactions still seem a bit of a fad, but I wouldn't mind getting proven wrong, I do think it could be a cool/useful feature eventually.

No... they have great stats, but no graph of combined values over time.

I see, sorry I can't help you out, I haven't come across anything that would work better than what you already posted.
