Sure it is. There's a new wave of people & capital in crypto, this is excellent impulse to move forward. We survived several months of stagnation, while dozens (hundreds?) of coins removed from serious exchanges due to lack of volume and interest, hundreds of blockchains forked to hell or died stuck with no one on board to fix them. Now we got a second wind (like actually many other coins) and it would be really stupid to ignore this opportunity. |

At this moment we need rather smart-money than just money. So I when read "why should I invest" my answer is "I don't care". I welcome support, resources, ideas. If all you (not talking to anyone personally) want to do is invest some money and take some profit or loss then it makes no sense to discuss about fundamentals, "steroids" or anything else related from such investment perspective as we both waste our time. Do not take this the wrong way, basically I really prefer talking what can we do together to make this project evolve to answering why should you buy a coin today and sell tomorrow I think you need more than just smart money. a dictionary might help. then you might understand the full meaning of investing. I don't know if you are as welcoming as you think. When support comes asking about your product to gauge if it is worth supporting or if it is just some d-bag that wants to take your work and money and run(which one of the best way to help gauge is to go in guns blazing asking questions), you usually don't tell them to f off cause you're not "smart money". Pure fresh bootstrap.dat will be published on Wednesday. Keep it mind that masternode payments are not enforced so greedy miners do not have to respect them. They will not proceed this way forever though. |

On steroids means we aim to provide own purpose for them (these applications are briefly mentioned in this thread, find them if you want). However, it's neither trivial task nor this purpose has market-demand confirmed (or created). There will be new ANN with more details and road map to achieve them. What is 8bit? it's cheap and the low coin supply is nice. but besides a low coin supply what is a reason to invest? or, even better, to use? The community seems to be decently active but there hasn't seemed to be to much in the way of development.
If you are looking for serious, fundamental based investment you should spend some time and read this thread or at least my posts here. There were some hints describing planned coin usage. It's better than expecting to be convinced to buy this or any other asset. If you are looking for trend-based / speculation investment then it used to work this way: if someone tells BUY - I should sell, if someone tells me SELL - I should buy. However, this market is way too small to follow this scheme. Its the masternodes, its the craze right now.
Although masternodes don't have a value per se anymore, they are essential for us to achieve desired goals |

i dont think so, Pivx was forked from dash and it have many new feartures implemented in, but 8bit 's not n it named like a game.  All masternode coins were either forked from dash or their masternode code was forked from it. I agree that new (unique) features are essential. |

Are you able to provide a how to guide for setting up masternodes? I want to get a few going to and help secure the network
I was thinking about making a how to guide. First I have to get mine working and once done, I can work on that. Basic guide is available in the ANN (I am not OP), more guides are in this thread, feel free to create a fresh one. Actually there's no difference between setting up a masternode here and on any other masternode-powered coin. |

Great  Blockchain freezes at block 861533. It only would take a few more minutes to finish if it didn't get stuck. I made a backup of the blockchain before the error happened and verified that its the correct chain. But I cant get any wallet on any computer I have access too, including my VPS, to update completely. Hopefully someone has an idea whats going on. I see 4 nodes stuck on block 861533, in my opinion it's orphaned one. Current block height used my most of peers, bittrex and block explorer is 862004 (hash: 5c1dadf467437f29727655907eb68ae8a27e5bf480e84773f4ad29e63b624904). Check what's your hash for following blocks: 861531 should be 66e5c7a43a1f11a956e1dd4f0d570e8ee59a71f7413c1f5d49ed85c7236a86cd 861532 should be fe002e222e6241a880d1b47ea49c29f568e01c70ace3e03f5c3feb02bf0e4a2e 861533 should be ad66c5361c8ebeedda485d906b4e93b7d6d15cf41de5a7e401e120bd4c430b7b If hashes are different then you are on the dead chain and should suck a correct one. I will publish a bootstrap soon, but for faster syncing its better to download following files: - database/* - txleveldb/* - blk0001.dat from the wallet dir of someone else and run the client with -rescan option. For privacy reasons, published can run this one first on his local PC with empty wallet dat. I think such package has been already distributed but we need a fresh one, today I have been talking to an owner of a node often forking a chain (big staking power and connectivity issues with rest of the networking causing unwanted selfish mining) so we should get rid of this issues soon. Also by increasing number of seed nodes (what also drays has pointed out recently). |

nice update  but u need a new ann It's not an update, this block explorer is two years old. 8-bit-party wrote on the previous page it's 1024 coins per masternode, not 112. I've seen both figures, can someone clarify?
112 is required to run a masternode using current codebase / chain, new one requires 1024 coins. ETA of the new chain start is not provided yet. |

Blockchain status?
Moderately shitty. Looks like the status has changed from 'moderately shitty' to 'broken'. I have an impression the chain has forked once again. The block explorer is few days behind the real time (last block is from April 05), but is still moving forward step by step somehow, with new added block still from April 05! Weird. |
