What is 8bit? it's cheap and the low coin supply is nice. but besides a low coin supply what is a reason to invest? or, even better, to use? The community seems to be decently active but there hasn't seemed to be to much in the way of development.
If you are looking for serious, fundamental based investment you should spend some time and read this thread or at least my posts here. There were some hints describing planned coin usage. It's better than expecting to be convinced to buy this or any other asset.
If you are looking for trend-based / speculation investment then it used to work this way: if someone tells BUY - I should sell, if someone tells me SELL - I should buy. However, this market is way too small to follow this scheme.

Its the masternodes, its the craze right now.
Although masternodes don't have a value per se anymore, they are essential for us to achieve desired goals

well,  first let me say sorry that I have not read through all 200 and some odd pages of this bs old thread, (I have actually pointed other people to things such as wallet and blockchain bootstrap days ago on slack), perhaps when I get through the thousands of pages of other ANNs of coins I want to know about I'll get to reading ALL of this one. I guess expecting people to explain their product is to much. Yaknow, people have very important meetings to explain everything to investors/partners (since you seem to only think investing means just money I guess I'll throw partners in there to make you feel safer)
I'm looking for an investment that is actually going to be worth spending my time and money helping. However, it seems you know what you are looking for and I obviously am just an annoyance.

Its the risk, and everyone decides it for himself - whether to belive or not.
No risk, no fun.

Haha, what could "masternodes on steroids" possible be?

ok cool. this already has its own code and algo right? what are masternodes on steroids? it seems like it could be a great project. the name definitely sets it apart right off the bat.
On steroids means we aim to provide own purpose for them (these applications are briefly mentioned in this thread, find them if you want). However, it's neither trivial task nor this purpose has market-demand confirmed (or created). There will be new ANN with more details and road map to achieve them. No resources, capital, etc. are confirmed and no guarantee whatsoever given.

At this moment we need rather smart-money than just money. So I when read "why should I invest" my answer is "I don't care". I welcome support, resources, ideas. If all you (not talking to anyone personally) want to do is invest some money and take some profit or loss then it makes no sense to discuss about fundamentals, "steroids" or anything else related from such investment perspective as we both waste our time. Do not take this the wrong way, basically I really prefer talking what can we do together to make this project evolve to answering why should you buy a coin today and sell tomorrow Smiley

I think you need more than just smart money. a dictionary might help. then you might understand the full meaning of investing. I don't know if you are as welcoming as you think. When support comes asking about your product to gauge if it is worth supporting or if it is just some d-bag that wants to take your work and money and run(which one of the best way to help gauge is to go in guns blazing asking questions), you usually don't tell them to f off cause you're not "smart money". Good luck. with your shit, better than thou demeanor you'll need it.

I just took a position in 8Bit, due to the masternode component and devs plans to revamp. With PIVX and other masternode coins, 8bit immediately popped out, there seems to be great marketing potential. Supply is insanely low.

I did not see deception in his comments, but confidence. Devs really should not be playing or assuring the market. Right now people are creeping in, as the sell side is about 10-20 % thinner than it was even yesterday.

Huge thanks for the Bootstrap!

Question, is it still 112 8bit units to run a MasterNode?  (or did it change to something else?) thanks!

Pure fresh bootstrap.dat will be published on Wednesday. Keep it mind that masternode payments are not enforced so greedy miners do not have to respect them. They will not proceed this way forever though.

I asked to do not take this the wrong way... It is a real pity that you took my answer as an offence and reacted with an offence. Let's get rid of negative emotions, no one needs them.

Another thread is being pointlessly bumped by someone from underground thread-bumping club. Why are these dumbs bumping old like earth and cold like death threads? Is someone getting paid for hyping nodeless blockchainless coins? A thorough examination of the recent activities of all forums members should be carried out by an unbiased dude like me.

Don't be so touchy Smiley. You are welcome here, and what the dev has pointed, is not directed to you personally, but is mostly general statement. I know reading through all the pages is not an option, so if there is something you would like to know, just ask. I am here from the very beginning, and I have been through all those 250+ pages of often painful history of 8BIT. There are indeed some great discussions there, along with lots of meaningless personal wars too...

I would advise to better do that in Linux. Sure you can run them in Windows, but the windows wallet is extremely resource hungry (on my experience it needs really high-end machine to run properly; also see the comment from pterodactyl above ), so I personally stopped using that and moved everything into Linux. Maybe you can use Vmware, or better, run a VPS with Ubuntu. This is just my personal advise though.

It is still 112 coins per MN currently, but as 8-bit-Party noted, some (many) stakers do not pay to masternodes currently. Some do, however, so I guess you would get some coins from MN, but not as much as it should be.

I am happy to see that finally 8 bit thread is active again. It's been a while, sadly zucker isn't here to see this.

Yes there is a slack channel, but you have to wait for 8-bit-party to invite you as he haven't set an invite bot yet.

By the way, i hope that this activity isn't due to recent rise in the price of 8-bit.

Bittrex confirmed updated

Simple guide on how to create a masternode:

Start your 8BIT wallet
Send exactly 112 8BITS to an address in your wallet

Go to Help/Debug/Console
type the following and hit Enter:

Code:
masternode genkey

Copy the result and place that in the 8bit.conf file below:

Code:
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcuser=YourUserName
rpcpassword=YourRPCPassword
rpcport=any_valid_port EX: 9228
server=1
daemon=1
listen=1
staking=0
port=9999
masternodeaddr=YOUR_IP:9999
masternode=1
masternodeprivkey=KEY GENERATED BY COMMAND masternode genkey

Port 9999 must be open.

Restart your wallet and go back to Help/Debug/Console
Type the following and hit enter:

Code:
masternode start

* Give your Masternode a few minutes, and check if it's up in the Masternode list

DO not use your local IP address, use your external IP address. If you do not know what it is
Type "what is my IP" in google search and you will see it.

Here is a guide for setting up multiple masternodes on the same machine:

This is proof that I am running 8 masternodes on the same machine.

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

6.

Make sure that each node is using its own wallet.dat.

You will be using a .bat file to launch each node except node1, which you launch using 8bit-qt
You create a .bat just like you would a .conf, but with the .bat extension of course.

Also, when launching a wallet for the first time, set masternode=0 in the .conf file
Use the command "masternode genkey" for each wallet once you have launched with masternode=0.

Send exactly 112 coins to the new wallet address and paste your masternode's private key in the .conf file.
Then close the wallet, set masternode=1, and assign a different port to your masternode than the others.

Then, relaunch the wallet using your .bat file and wait until your deposit of 112 coins has at least 16 confirms.
After you have 16 confirms, go back to the console and type "masternode start"

You should receive a message, "masternode started successfully"

Make sure you open any ports you want to use on your router.
