We saw Grin jump from $3 to over $200 on this announcement.

Incorrect. A couple of coins exchanged for extremely small amounts of money (I'm talking $20.00 worth of bitcoins for some grin at ridiculous prices) doesn't mean you or I could have actually sold at $200. Maybe one person sold 0.1 grin for that price. Great for them. Also, even if there was significantly more volume, on day 2 (after the 1440 block waiting period for coinbase transactions) the price would have ended up tanking just the same. Btw, the price started at $200 and dropped like a rock. Where are you seeing a pump from $3.00 to $200.00?

The grin community was already aware that Theymos liked it because of his post in the ANN thread. The technology is amazing. I'd suggest doing a little research. It's not bitcoin with a fancy hat and a new name, it's a brand new coin with brand new untested tech. Even if this impliment fails I think mimblewimble is here to stay (even if not in this exact form). Saying that this announcement somehow caused hype is hilarious. Why wouldn't the other post cause this amazing hype?

Lastly, how many grin do you really think bitcointalk has gotten from this so far? I doubt it's creating the amount of hype that you're talking about. I'm all for a 6666.66% pump, but it's not going to happen because Theymos decided to accept grin for copper membership etc. You and I both know that.

If he's wrong about grin I guess you're going to start a lawsuit right? That's the only sensible thing to do. /s

I'm getting about 5.2 GPS per 2070 using bminer on Linux at 75% power. It's much better than the 3.8 I was receiving with grin-miner! Mwgrinpool has also been great. 0 downtime this entire time I've been mining and never any issues withdrawing.

"ツ" aka "Tsu" was adopted as the official currency symbol of the project.

Bad idea IMO since ツ is so common in Japanese. It'd be like using the letter "G" as their symbol.

True. I didn't know they were even considering Tsu. I saw lots of discussions about different Gs with lines through them but this is just odd.

Does this work on GTX 1060 6GB?

Did anyone try  Huh Huh

I'm getting about 2.2 GPS with my 1060 using bminer on Linux.

I heard through the grapevine that Radiumsoup, TSWR and Imed are working towards a full refund, funded by the CEX Veserus. Ton, will you also be contributing to that, or is it going to be fully funded by Veserus?

wesfdtsrwfdnnnnnnnnnnnn - Sorry, I just choked on my food while laughing hysterically. Aw man. Anyway, I await your reply Ton.
164  Other / Meta / Re: grin is now accepted for forum payments on: January 19, 2019, 05:20:45 PM
That's awesome to hear. I've mined a few so far and will be HODLing them, but this seems like a win win win. You can buy some grins, the forum gets more money (maybe) and maybe it'll help a little with adoption. It's very clunky and currently only a Linux wallet so who knows about the price. It could keep going down or skyrocket once it's easier to use.

There's still a lot to learn with grin! Everybody just keep reading as much as you can.

Phew I got the wallet set up but haven't gotten up and mining yet. I'm hoping to mine on or around the 15th! The more I read about beam and from the more I can't stand beam and I love grin!
166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ravencoin [RVN] PoW GPU Mining | Asset Transfer Blockchain (Updated ANN) on: January 03, 2019, 09:34:05 PM
This year will be a wild ride for Ravencoin. With big things coming to T0 exchange in March and dividend and messaging features added to RVN code this year, Ravencoin has a bright future ahead!

Burstcoin can do all this already and has been around way longer, but it's not going to the moon.

Jason Crowe destroyed all hope of that.  I used to be a big fan of Burst.

I'm still mining Burst and I trade them on the exchanges. They went to PoC2 and there's new wallets. You can CPU mine still and use your GPU for other mining at the same time. I use the few coins to help with electric cost on my RVN GPU mining. Burst has all these same features, messaging, asset exchange, dividend payouts, low fee's. Exactly what RVN dev's are trying to achieve. Jason Crowe and Mr. Burst thing is in the past, but your right that did hurt the coins rep.

I agree with this guy. I am also mining Burst since Feb/2018 and as far as I see it, Burst works just fine. Had no problems whatsoever since then. Whatever that Jason Crowe guy did in the past, will stay in the past.

However... Whether if its on Raven or Burst, I actually don't care much about assets. Tbh, I don't understand how they work and how's that useful at all. I did some research about that Jason guy on google and I found out that he was also fucking with "assets" and that's how he fucked burst up which leads me to my final conclusion about the subject:

Assets suck.

I don't know how RVN is going to handle this. I hope it does because I am also investing in it from time to time.

Maybe if you did 10 minutes of research on the shitcoins you invest in you'd have a better underatanding on what their use case is. If you don't understand why real assets on a blockchain are useful, you haven't done enough (or any) research.

ETH creating tokens out of thin air that mean nothing, those have value, but stocks represented on a blockchain? Worthless. /s

Awesome! I heard about grin a few months ago and almost forgot about it. It's still extremely different from what I'm used to, what with there being no addresses etc, but I'm excited to learn more. Time for a crash course before the 15th!
168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ritocoin [RITO] PoW GPU Mining | Assets | Masternodes | No Pre-Mine/ICO on: December 15, 2018, 03:20:11 AM
Do you have any plan to list this coin on famous exchange ? Currently Ritocoin price is too cheap and volume is very low.

It's not really their choice unless they go to a high volume sketchy exchange that takes bribes "listing fees".

Wow, I have been out of the loop too for some time.  I am guessing I am just going to have to take a loss? I (invested) in the ICO and have tokens but am I to assume they are worthless now and I am out the money? Thanks!

You got a 45% return to the Bitcoin address that you invested from or if you invested shitcoins you got Bitcoins back to your Bitcoin address that you added to the website.

Question..what's going on with coins when we sell them into exchange. Convert RVN to BTC...are thesee RVN burns ?... you take BTC ok, sell BTC for dollars.. did those BTC burns...or ? exchange collect them ?

One person (or multiple people) offer to buy at one price while others offer to sell at another. When they agree on a price, a trade is executed. Exchanges won't be burning crypto since it would result in a huge loss for no reason.

Congrats Ravencoin. Such overwhelming support for the asset activation shows what a great project this is.

I didn't expect to see the vote hit 90% this time! Assets are going live in under 24h!  Grin

Seriously Xan? No. It wasn't 3x anything. No one invested fiat. Everyone invested cryptocurrency. It was 45%. Stop bullshitting and bending the truth to sound better for you. For every bitcoin invested you got a little over BTC0.45 returned. Apples to apples. No bullshit.

It was 3x market rate in cryptocurrencies. Market rate of the token not crowdsale rate. Everything you claimed has already been disproven by the escrows and the community.

We still don't have the full story so how would you expect anyone to get behind anyone on this team ever again?
It's an open source project. Bitcoin isn't popular because it's based on faith. Just watch for code releases you don't have to get behind on anything. You can also join Telegram and discuss with me but don't go in a circle with assumptions, that's how arguments never end.

You also said we didn't have to trust the team for 1 yr+ and look where that got us. The code certainly does speak for itself. There's none to be seen. If this is truly open source, I suppose you don't mind showing us how far along the old dead DEX is? Right? That's what open source means Xan. You and I both know that.

I guarantee you I'll never join your Telegram. They're all run the same. Ask a question that you don't want to answer - Ban.

We can talk here or on discord. You can't cencored me.

Hello, is it still possible to mine Raven with  gtx 1060 with only 3gb of memory?
It was possible in the past... but I am not familiar with this coin, which I believe recently had a new fork.

Cheers.

On a pool, yes. If you mean solo mining you may never find a block. I'd look into the profitability of doing so though. It depends on your electricity rates.

The whole “profitability” thing isn’t a straight up yes or no question. It is a timeframe question. Even if short term it isn’t profitable to mine, it _could_ be in the long term if you HODL. Plus mining even when it isn’t immediately profitable grows the network, which increases the future value of RVN.

Don’t believe me? Just ask anyone who “unprofitably” mined BTC when it was at $1000.

Lol that goes without saying. But would I rather mine RVN that cost me 10 cents each, or just buy some for 5? From a personal selfish standpoint, if your electricity rates are high, just go buy RVN.

The new discord seems to have most people that added a lot to the community in the old cencored one. For uncensored chat, we'll see you in: https://discord.gg/Va496V. No bans, just a time-out room if you get a little rowdy or post someone's dox.

I received my refund,
It is not much money, but "better not much than nothing".
Anyway I hope if devs start someday with new project they will give any gratification for old NVO token holders!
It would be fair - otherwise we could feel a little scammed

The fact that the money was returned even at a low rate is well said, so better than nothing. Many projects would simply continue to spend or did everything not to return. It’s bad that the project didn’t go full-time work, but probably decentralized exchanges without a market maker are in fact not needed in such a market.
The return rate was at 3x the current market rate at the time and just a bit more in USD rate compared to crowdsale price. Obviously at BTC rate, it would be more beneficial for many people. However, this was a decision made by the majority's vote. We could have continued the project and is doing a new project with pretty much the same objectives as before just with different core team and technology.

This result is a majority's decision. Not a great one but I don't think it was possible to proceed with our old team as it was.

Seriously Xan? No. It wasn't 3x anything. No one invested fiat. Everyone invested cryptocurrency. It was 45%. Stop bullshitting and bending the truth to sound better for you. For every bitcoin invested you got a little over BTC0.45 returned. Apples to apples. No bullshit.

You say "we" would have continued. Who is "we"? You were all clearly too emotional to work together so who was going to work on anything? It would have resulted in the three (two? One?) of you burning through some more of our millions to end up with some half baked project just to get the funds released from the escrows. We still don't have the full story so how would you expect anyone to get behind anyone on this team ever again?

Good luck with your ERC20 token or whatever halfassed project you're working on. Feel free to jump into discord if you want an uncensored opinion on it. Who knows, maybe you'll come out of it being a better leader. I kind of doubt it though, since you only surround yourself with yes men.

Why is this coin mooning? It doesn't even sound that great, it's just new, and popular to mine apparently. Can anyone elaborate?

Stop shitposting and google it.

It's really unfortunate that the "main" discord is so heavily censored now. Don't you dare disagree with anything the green names think or you're gone.

That being said, there's a discord with full freedom and we've got a lot of the talkative people that used to chat on the old censored discord. Everyone is the same rank since we don't like to pretend that a different coloured name somehow means anything. See you there!

They could at least do the decent thing and have the market on counterparty closed.Allowing people to still buy and sell this token is just not right.

Why don't you close it lol? It's a decentralized exchange so anyone can close it, right? That's how it works right guys? Grin
180  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Manually convert a Binary or HEX private key to WIF, then find the Public Key on: September 24, 2018, 09:59:11 PM
whereas Andrew has provided an extensive answer, I thought I'd add two and a half more things.
I had this confusion with keys in hex and WIF, and then how to come to bitcoin addresses. So I made a small picture, which
I posted on a thread in bitcoin.SE.

If the Public Key can be located with a binary or HEX Private Key, that'd be even better.
Without BECH32, this link http://gobittest.appspot.com/Address shows how to come from priv key to a bitcoin address.
More on addresses here and here.

Thanks! Now I just need to learn how to do all of this math or at least find out what I can do on my own and what I should use a computer for.
