161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What Alt-Coins Do You NOT Consider A Pump & Dump? on: March 03, 2014, 09:59:37 AM
For me its Aurora...
Maybe it looks right now like pump and dump because its low supply but that's not what it meant for.
Its a coin with a vision unlike any other alternative coin (beside Lite). so I prefer to hold to my coins even if the value will be cut in half or more
162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [AUR] Auroracoin merchant tools discussion on: March 03, 2014, 08:47:51 AM
I think 2 or 3 are better than the first one.

25BTC are 13k USD  or 5000 AUR; you can make a VERY nice bounty at this price
163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Auroracoin may be the most exciting altcoin of 2014 on: March 01, 2014, 09:19:08 PM

Also..... check the Icelandic papers.  No mention of Auroracoin there either.  It is getting more press outside of Iceland than in it.

There you go.. that's an Icelandic newspaper - http://www.mbl.is/vidskipti/frettir/2014/03/01/rafraenir_gjaldmidlar_sla_i_gegn/
http://www.mbl.is/vidskipti/frettir/2014/02/06/gefa_islendingum_nyja_rafmynt_2/

We still have time to reach all of the Icelandic people, first of all we need to get recognition from the alternative cryptocurrency community only after we can build trading tools and publicity.
we still have 23 days
164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUR][MANDATORY UPDATE] Auroracoin - a cryptocurrency for Iceland on: March 01, 2014, 09:32:53 AM

Same Icelandic bitcoin in Israeli article
"http://www.geektime.co.il/free-bitcoin-in-island/"

166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If you like Auroracoin, you're going to LOVE Mazacoin (MZC)! on: March 01, 2014, 08:18:38 AM
MyFarm, I thought you are a true believer in AUR coin

It seems that all you try to do is to create a hype pump and dump. quite disappointing as I REALLY believe that Auroracoin can bring a change to the Cryptocurrency world
167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Auroracoin may be the most exciting altcoin of 2014 on: February 28, 2014, 09:45:15 PM
The database is public so there is no problem to know each Icelandic ID

I would also preferred to see baldur real name. but I understand his fear and preference of anonymity.
To me he looks trustworthy as he surely not interested in an increased value of the coin at all, and he would have dumped all the coins already if he wasnt waiting for the airdrop.
Its your call if to take the risk and join the train or stay behind. both choices are ok as the train might go to a dead end
168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Support Auroracoin project by on: February 28, 2014, 10:43:15 AM
Doing "Like" on the facebook page.

Few days ago our community launched a facebook ads campaign (based on donations) in order to reach all Icelandic citizens. the more "likes" the Auroracoin page will have the easier it will be to get into touch with the people of Iceland

169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Auroracoin is SPAM on: February 27, 2014, 09:47:11 PM
Maybe its a spam
But I don't mind putting my money there because unlike other clone coins this one really offers something new that can grow and make a difference.

All other coins are unequal and only beneficial to people who mined them first.

I Believe in Auroracoin
170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Auroracoin - 7th Marketcap Altcoin on: February 27, 2014, 02:39:46 PM
Why would anyone not from Iceland care about this coin? Hardly a fair distribution for a Global coin.

well 330,000 people is a lot more then 900 who hold 50% of the bitcoins
But its meant to be Icelandic coin not global coin
171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Auroracoin - 7th Marketcap Altcoin on: February 27, 2014, 02:38:17 PM
Wow great for you guys! But how can the 24hour volume be so low compared to the total marketcap?!

Because a lot of coins are not tradeable yet... They are mined to be given to the Icelandic population
172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Auroracoin - 7th Marketcap Altcoin on: February 27, 2014, 11:00:57 AM
premined crap
The premine is the all idea! to make a coin the people will actually use rather then few guys control all of it pump it and run away with all its value.
173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Auroracoin - 7th Marketcap Altcoin on: February 27, 2014, 10:03:59 AM
It is going to be  in electronic way not in a paper wallet.
Baldur can give the most accurate answer but its going towards this way : People will download a wallet (computer based, or cellular based) and through our website we will validate their identity and claim.

Iceland population is only 330,000 and they all (about 95%) use the internet. so with the public relations that we are getting and our facebook campaign we try to make sure they all know that they are entitled for the free coins.
174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Auroracoin - 7th Marketcap Altcoin on: February 27, 2014, 09:53:37 AM
Has the dev commented on how the 'drop' will happen?

AYjvwovooLNR5DXokfozpf3mh4YV1ZAYU6

Yes, On Iceland there is a public database of its residents.
AUR is going to use it in order to make sure that only residents of Icelands can claim their birthright coins and to prevent fraud

I sent 0.1AUR to your way Smiley
175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Auroracoin - 7th Marketcap Altcoin on: February 27, 2014, 09:20:28 AM
Within a month our community managed to grow Auroracoin to a market cap of 32Million USD according to http://coinmarketcap.com/
Passing names like "Mastercoin" , "Namecoin" & "Quark"...                 Doge! you are NXT Cool

You can read more about Auroracoin in http://auroracoin.org/
Here is a copy and paste from the Annoucement page

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=446062.0
"Auroracoin is a cryptocurrency for Iceland. 21.000.000 coins, block reward 25. It is based on litecoin and is 50% premined. The premined coins will be distributed to the entire population of Iceland, commencing on midnight 25th of March 2014.

Auroracoin is designed to break the shackles of the fiat currency financial system in Iceland.

Iceland has been hit hard by financial meltdown and inflation. Not only did the entire banking system collapse in 2008, but the monetary history of Iceland is one of inflation, devaluation and currency controls.

Auroracoin is an opportunity for Icelanders to free themselves from currency controls and government debasement of the currency.

Auroracoin is based on the Litecoin protocol. However, it is started by the “Airdrop” of premined auroracoins to the Icelandic nation, designed to reach almost every Icelander. This one-time event will create the conditions for Icelanders to start using the currency, by providing them with a start and making them aware of the currency and its possibilities. After the Airdrop, the only way to acquire auroracoins will be through mining and transacting.

177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: AURORA COIN an undervalued coin with great opportunity ! on: February 22, 2014, 01:52:20 PM
The whole story on this coin is that it was created by the government to help give their citizens more choices than storing money with traditional banks or investment firms, and this should improve the market through real competition instead of all the banks just shaking eachother's hands all day. So, is this currency really developed by their government? Well, I bought a few hundred anyway and they seem to be doing well since then, so whatever I hope they and all of us on here do well with the coin.
Really?
From what i read it has no connection to their government?

You are right, it has no connection to their government... that guy is making things up

I agree, the Tech specs need to be posted in the first post just like all other coins are doing
179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUR] Auroracoin - a cryptocurrency for Iceland on: February 22, 2014, 09:08:59 AM
I use    http://aur.easy-mine.eu/
Although there was one downtime once, its working great and seems very fair pool (150 miners are mining currently)
180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: AURORA COIN an undervalued coin with great opportunity ! on: February 22, 2014, 09:03:22 AM
I may look at mining this, but the difficulty must be pretty high if its 50% premined.
What is the block reward etc, i cant find any mining calculators for this coin yet.

The high difficulty is actually good, you don't want bunch of people having monopoly over the coin. Just mine your own share and cross fingers that the icelandic people will welcome it.
The value of the coin currently is 4usd per coin. you cant expect mining hundreds of it in few hours.
