161  Other / Meta / Relationship between Sirius, theymos and Satoshi? on: October 25, 2017, 11:50:02 AM
Well, it might be considered as a newbie question. I know. Sounds like it to me too, lol!

So just for fun, me and my bro sometimes talk about anything that involves btc, like general info and other stuff with btc in it. Then we came upon the topic about Sirius and theymos (we all know who they are and their roles here in the forum) and came up with a question. "Do they know Satoshi Nakamoto? Like on a personal or professional level. Are they buddies?"
If you want to share your thoughts feel free to do so. Cheesy
162  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin can drop 2000$ before end of this year on: October 25, 2017, 11:08:22 AM
Can bitcoin fall 2000$ before 2018?

I am logical . possible Because it can not control the dump of bitcoin if it comes
But by look at the Most comments bitcointalk.org . No

Possibly. Remember that it's btc we're talking about so when it comes to its price everything is possible. From a whopping $6K it can become worthless. No one can really say and only those whales can also do something with the price. If they decided to suddenly drop all at once it can cause drastic crash to btc. Seeing how we are sitting between $5.5K to $6K, a 2K drop is unlikely to happen. I don't see btc going that low any moment.
163  Economy / Economics / Re: Does this mean Cash will be extinct? on: October 25, 2017, 11:01:03 AM
Sweden is contemplating to stop using cash by 2023, does this mean cash might be extinct if other countries follow suit?

https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2017/10/sweden-could-stop-using-cash-by-2023?utm_content=buffer40bef&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer

For a country like Sweden maybe it's effective and a good thing to go cashless especially if they are aiming for minimizing robberies. I just hope that their tech security is very effective if they plan to eliminate cash. If other countries will follow Sweden's move I don't think cash will be extinct. I'm just wondering about those people who have no means to have cards or mobile payment methods. And also, how will they negotiate with other countries that will prefer cash rather than cashless transactions.
164  Economy / Economics / Re: What would be the possible impact of BTC in the economy of a country? on: October 25, 2017, 07:43:13 AM
It's a combination of both good and bad impact. Good in a sense that more people in a country that supports btc can have access to opportunities of having good profits. Especially that in times like this, a single job can't fully support a family that's why more of us need additional jobs. Btc also have the potential to address unemployment of a country. But the bad side of it is giving criminals a freeway to have their transaction effectively. Illegal transactions have been rampant and btc technology helped them to cover up their crimes.
165  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin has Arrived in Thailand..... on: October 25, 2017, 06:25:03 AM
Bitcoin is welcome in Thailand...

Thailand has had Bitcoin in place for some time and I see the government is preparing for the future and how to en brass Bitcoin. It is not unusual to see a " We accept Bitcoin " In all type of stores.

This is really great for Thai People and the Tourists that visit......

That's good to hear that Thai government are now accepting btc. It just shows that Asian countries are catching up with cryptocurrency. This will open lots of opportunities not just for Thai citizens but to all of us as well because we know the outcome of this, and that is higher value of btc. I hope more asian countries will join with the exception of China of course. Grin
166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi controlling 500'000 BTC on: October 24, 2017, 06:54:51 PM
Hi guys,

what do you think about Satoshi controlling 1/20th of all Bitcoins?

I don't care if Satoshi is a real person or not, but if it's true, I think it's a problem if a group o people can controlling so much money.

Take care
F

Whoever holds and controls that much btc, whether it's satoshi or other person, is really disturbing. Imagine him controlling or should I say playing the price of btc, selling at least 10btc will have an impact with the price, what more if he just sell hundred or a thousand btc out on a whim. That person isn't just a whale, he is playing BTC god who can crash all the whales out there. Gives me goosebumps just by thinking of it!
167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Possible End of Bitcoin on: October 24, 2017, 04:40:07 PM
Well bitcoin is going up really seriously but i have an possible senario for bitcoin to end first of all mining bitcoin is becoming almost impossible without huge investments so we need better equipment and new technologies right ? I think it’s very near and they are called Quantum Computers to explain these computers are might be 100 million times powerful and useful than todays computers so they would be easier to mine bitcoins with it even if difficulty of mining goes up as tech grows but the thing is Blockchain does not have any protection to quantum computers which i laugh about it so much and when this technology comes out people would start to steal bitcoins instead of mining because its going to be more profitable how come people cannot forsee that for the next 5 years bitcoin is going to make great job but after that Quantum Nightmare of Bitcoin is going to end it up

Even if high end or super computers are being developed and circulate the market it will not cause btc to end. As years go by, blockchain will never be the same as it was first years back. Much have been developed and it is adapting to the current technologies. There will always be developers who will see to it tht no such Quantum nightmare will destroy it. And as for the miners, there will always be people or groups of people who will be willing to do the mining even if it's hard and costly. Even after the halving and the number of btc mined in every ten minutes is cut in half again, btc will be widespread enough by that time that the cut will not matter. Surely the price will be higher than we can imagine by that time so miners will always be there eager to mine and get their shares of coins.
168  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Friend gives wallet seed to stranger and bitcoins disappear from his wallet on: October 24, 2017, 11:18:12 AM

A friend who asked for instructions on how to use certain features of his wallet, was apparently tricked into divulging his seed to a stranger, and now his 2.6 btc are missing from the wallet, and so is the stranger. Does he have any recourse?

No way is he getting those BTCs back. I think this matters should be addressed as it is very alarming that btc holders are losing their coins through hacking and stupidity (sorry for my word). This just shows that there are numerous btc holders out there who blindly jumped in on the train. They didn't realized how important btc security is until they've lost it. People should learn not to trust anybody and stupidly consult strangers who claimed to know how to solve their queries with their wallets. Asking for privkeys and seeds are automatically an alert sign and should raise very high suspicion.
169  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is how my 7 bitcoins at coinbase got hacked on: October 24, 2017, 08:47:53 AM
I am posting this in case other people may confront the same situation and could possible avoid it. Also check out what a role coinbase is playing here.

I have a bitcoin account on coinbase and was not able to login however I tried. I got my password correct, but coinbase did not allow login by saying that it was a new device. Coinbase just kept sending me an email for me to verify the new device through the link. Nothing just happens after that and it was a loop of communications leading to nowhere. I tried the verification process by pretending that I do not have the 2-factor verification and try to provide my driver license to verify my account. It accepted my information, but still no result after two week's waiting.

There was no phone number that I could see in this whole process. Today, I tried googling "coinbase phone number". It popped up with two numbers. The first one was authentic, but it will ask you if your account is compromised. If yes press 1. My account was ok at that time and I kept waiting. Then the voice said the volume is high and hanged me off not allowing me to continue to wait. After several times of calling the first number without success, I continued to try the second number (888-4551155) and it went through after several minute's wait.

So I called to solve the problem. The tricky part is that they were able to help me log in! I have NO IDEA how they are able to log in! We were back to the page where the coinbase said that I was a new device and need to verify through email. Then the hackers had some code that claimed to be the "coinbase secrete seed". I do not know why they have such code and why this code could help me log in. I have been so desperate in the recent months and was so happy that finally I got into the system and see my account. Then they took control of the account and sent my coins to their own address. The transaction could be seen here. https://live.blockcypher.com/btc/tx/f0ae7669a0115b53129657d4a2b0ca2f9c730b0835e4848e8cea7743ffb1f7e8/ The bitcoin address that they used was 19n12cDwyfmf6ZpjxGJVvRuZL9BEPdq6Xy

I know I am stupid to be scammed, but there is one question I have no answer: while I was not able to log into coinbase myself by trying all the options that is provided by coinbase, the hacker were able to log in by using some secrete seed. I do not know what that is, but he should have some partial security information about coinbase. I called coinbase about this, it seems they are redundant to take responsibility for the fact that they are allowing other people to help me login. The funny thing is that when I called them, they ask me to press button 1 if you think your account has been compromised. So this time of course I pushed 1 and finally get through after one hour wait on line. Now the true customer service picked up, and after checking my balance to be zero and just asked me: "do you want to close your account?". They do not really care to know what happened!

Hope they can investigate this, because the hackers will do it again. If they can log in coinbase for me, they can do it again and again. When you google "coinbase phone number", their number is still showing up.

Sorry for your loss, man. Having 1btc is a big deal for me and I have to work hard for it before I came up with that amount. And thinking that someone will just hack it from my wallet is really devastating, what more if I have 7btc. But anyway, thank you for your information it help us to be more vigilant. Maybe next time you have to get you a hardware wallet instead of putting it in an exchange. Because the risk of hacking is really high in any exchange.
170  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Everyone already knows about bitcoin" no.. no they do not.. on: October 24, 2017, 08:20:31 AM
Every time I go to the bank I like to ask them if they have heard of BTC, most of the time the answer is no.
I do ask a lot of people about BTC.. a restaurant near me.. near ish use to accept it as well, I asked to pay with it, they said it no longer exists.. .... ...

Most people I find still have zero idea what BTC is unless they are friends with the likes of us.. I don't think we are even in early adoption stage.. we are in "the chasm" .. it would appear we are going to survive though... appear anyways..

I dunno just something I have taken note of.

Pretty much everyone that has heard of it assumes it's worth like 5 cents and shits themselves when I say it's $1k (Cad) .. we are in very interesting times with BTC.

Almost a year after your posting time, much have happened OP. Here in our country we have millions of what we call here "keyboard warriors" because almost everyone here are into social medias especially facebook. I've seen how powerful this platform is and right now btc is all over it. Although many have heard about it already, all they know about it is its name and not its function. Many are interested but don't know how to start so they just ignore it.
171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HILARIOUS!! I got this email from someone looking for Satoshi. on: October 24, 2017, 07:02:01 AM
******************************************************************************************************************

Maybe this is futile but anyway...

I cannot invest in the Bitcoin and its seems impossible to get it. I don't have money to get Bitcoins but i don't want to be left behind. Its too frustrating and i just cannot stand it.

I believe in the Bitcoin and i want to be a part of its community. Is there any way i can join and get my first Bitcoins while not being able to pay for a fraction of a Bitcoin?

Even people who got Bitcoins refuse to pay for services with Bitcoin, i would like to offer my services and get paid in Bitcoin but seems like it just doesn't work at all.

So here i am, i thought about it and i came up with the desperate idea of contacting the founder of the whole thing. If you are Satoshi Nakamoto, can you please help me get Bitcoins? Can you send me 1 Bitcoin to get me started? If so here is my address : 1GEZVSW8bgAxeFyBJeDa9b4jTX1NmdyhH

And if you can't or if you don't understand the content of this email, please just ignore it. Despair can make people do stupid things sometimes Smiley

********************************************************************************************************************

The guy says he want just 1 Bitcoin, LOOOOL. HILARIOUS. I got this email because i have one gmail address with satoshi in it so he must have tried all emails containing satoshi word.

What do you think about this guys. Did you ever get a similar email?

Never got an email like this one. But it wouldn't hurt to try this kind of email. Although it's funny and somehow a desperate move to earn btc, chances are, there will always someone out there who might give some sats out of fun. Imagine of you sent it to thousands of people who are btc holders and a hundred of them took pity on this guy.

One important thing that he said that made me think of considering sending some (still thinking) is that line where he said he's willingness to offer his services in exchange of btc. At least we know that he isn't just sitting around doing nothing. If I may, can I have his email? I want to share some knowledge that might help him get his first earnings.
172  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Australia moves to regulate the bitcoin is it good or bad ? on: October 23, 2017, 06:28:03 PM
Australian goverment is one step a way to regulate the bitcoin to combat money laundering and terrorism financing.

What do you think the implication of these in general and especially to the bitcoin holder  in Australia?would love to hear your views??

See below article

http://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2017-10-23/bitcoin-one-step-closer-to-being-regulated-in-australia/9058582?pfmredir=sm

If it's being regulated to prevent illegal activities then it's good news. I just hope that with the regulation, they will not put some political manipulations. If the welfare of their citizens is really what they are after then by all means do so. And I guess it will have good impact with others also who are afraid of btc because this news will gain positive insights from investors who used to stay away from btc due to some stability reasons.
173  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Is Bitcoin Legal? on: October 23, 2017, 04:35:04 PM
Bitcoin is considered legal as long as the government in your country is not declaring it illegal to use. The legality of btc really depends on a country's lawmakers. And of course how the people in that country use it will have a bearing in the acceptance and legality of it. So if in case btc is being abused and used in illegal activities such as drug trafficking and money laundering it will leave no option for the government to order banning of btc and declare its use as illegal.
174  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much closer is Bitcoin to being mainstream? on: October 23, 2017, 03:46:12 PM
How much closer is Bitcoin to being mainstream, and how do you gauge that?  I noticed more ATMs in recent years, but other that haven't seen too many other signs.

We can't really gauge how closer btc is to being mainstream. Though we think that more people are now aware of it, we're still not yet reaching the 5% of the population. And with that then it's safe to assume that it is very far from being mainstream. I think this is due to the fact that even people heard of btc they have no idea how it works. Mostly (if not all), tech inclined people are the ones who have the more understanding and have the initiatives to study cryptocurrency. There are more people who tends to steer away from things they don't understand simply because they don't want complications especially if they are busy working on their day jobs.
175  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Satoshi Nakamoto Matter? on: October 23, 2017, 01:34:36 PM
So I've seen many threads created about Satoshi Nakamoto, the so called creator of Bitcoin. Which brought me to this question, Does Satoshi Nakamoto matter?
Especially now that bitcoin is being accepted quite well, and also its value rising every day.
Does it matter who its creator is? Or is he dead or alive or what he has to say?
What impact will any of this can have on bitcoin today or tomorrow?

Well for me, Satoshi and their team matter because if it's not for them there will be no bitcoin that made an impact to everyone of us. Sure, there are lots of upgrades and developments with btc through out the years even if their team have no interference but for me they still matter. Call me fanatic but I'll look up to them and will always be thankful for the bigger opportunities they paved for us.
176  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could Japan Possibly ban ICO’s on: October 23, 2017, 09:55:37 AM
News coming out of Japan has it that authorities in that country are considering a ban on ICO’s. How would this Action impact on the prospect of Bitcoin and other cryptos globally.

It will surely affect ICOs on a wider scale because Japan is one of the countries who gives a strong support on cryptocurrencies. But on the other hand, I don't think it will affect bitcoin at all. It's fine for me if they ban all ICOs as long as their stand and support on btc is firm. And it's a good thing to regulate ICOs in the first place because there have beeb countless that sprouted and it's not that easy to spot the good and legit ones. And one drastic and effective step is banning all of it instead of dissecting each one by one.
177  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about Bitcoin ATMs? on: October 23, 2017, 06:47:56 AM
Btc ATM might come in handy if you need to encash it and needs cash asap. Never tried it though. But with the wallet I am using they offer Cardless ATM for converting your btc into fiat. They offer cash out service which is facilitated by a bank that acts as a third party. Good thing here is there is NO FEE for this service and you can immediately withdraw your cash once you received all necessary informations needed. From the wallet, you just have to fill up some info such as your full name and mobile number where they will send 3 sets of digits that you will need to input in the ATM.

Not to be confused though, the ATM I'm saying is the usual machine of the bank and not really an exclusive btc atm.
178  Economy / Speculation / Re: Selling Bitcoin on: October 22, 2017, 02:59:48 PM
I'm a week into this whole bitcoin thing so be easy on me. I wonder why you would ever sell a BTC ... For example: you buy 100 dollars worth of BTC but the price drops drastically. Why would you sell it when its that low? You KNOW it's going to go up again. You could wait a month (for example), the price will be up again. Or am i totally wrong here?

Because some people want to just cut off their lossess. They think that instead of losing more they will just sell it even if the price is lower than their purchase. We can't blame them though because there are circumstances that we cannot control and there are some people who gambled everything they have to buy btc for the hope of having huge profits. So when things turn out to be not what they expected and instead of surging it dipped they then started panicking because they have no assurance when will it get back up.
179  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens when Bitcoin reaches its Max Supply? on: October 22, 2017, 05:20:16 AM
Hi i have a question, i hope someone could answer it
As of now, the circulating supply of Bitcoin is 16.6M
I was wondering what would happen if it reaches 21M?

Will bitcoin still work even without mining?
Or will bitcoin fall apart?

At first, that was really one of my concerns. But then one day my brother and I had a small talk about btc and this concern came up. So yeah, basically we have the same opinion like others here that mining will still continue as there will always be a fee to be paid on every single transaction and that might increase too as there'll be no more btc to mine. And for sure there will be more upgrades to cope with the situation. Btc will never fall apart and its price will then be unimaginably expensive. But then at the end of the conversation my brother and I came up with an agreement not to think of it anymore. Simply because by that time btc have been mined we will no longer be here. Well not unless we made it to our 170th birthday.  Grin
180  Economy / Speculation / Re: What do you think ? Bitcoin is going to hit big value soon like 7000$ and more ? on: October 22, 2017, 03:33:26 AM
What do you think ? Bitcoin is going to hit big value soon like 7000$ and more ?

Btc will hit big indeed! We may be on a fast pace increase right now because of the fork because people are wanting their fork tokens but still, I know even if there is no upcoming fork btc will still surge up. Sure we might be facing a crash after the fork but then, people will start buying once that happen. We are on a never ending cycle and I think this is good for btc community. It just shows that we are a healthy community and the foundation of btc is strong.
