In November, flat-Earther "Mad" Mike Hughes announced plans to launch himself 1,800 feet (550 m) above the Mojave Desert in a steam-powered rocket he made out of salvaged parts. His plan was to attempt to photograph the lack of curvature of the horizon to "prove" the Earth's flatness. The curvature of the horizon is subtle enough as to not be visible until at least 35,000 feet, so it's unclear exactly what Hughes hoped to prove. Nevertheless, his homemade rocket cost a reported $20,000, making it quite a deal compared with B.o.B's estimated $1 million rocket-launch scheme.
Unfortunately for Hughes, his launch was to take place on public land, and the Bureau of Land Management shut him down at the last minute.

I've seen a couple of jackasses out there on various media platforms (reddit) claiming they can prove the Earth is a spinning globe. The following are the best arguments they can muster, and they're weak arguments countered by a mountain of evidence the Earth is flat and motionless.
1. Claiming to Measure the theoretical rotation of the Earth:
Pros: They say a LASER or MEMS gyroscope can measure the rotation and provide a subtle 23 hour & 56 min measurement as proof.
Cons: The Michelson & Morley experiment failed to detect the motion of the Earth through the static aether (Sagnac, D&P) however, what they did detect was a small aether drift with a 23 hour & 56 min cycle. This aether drift is too small to account for the theorized rotation of the Earth but, it does explain the experimental results from the LASER and MEMS gyroscopes.
2. Claiming to observe the effects of a theoretical curvature of the Earth's surface:
Pros: They say the 15° per hour motion of the Sun observed from any point on the surface is proof of a globe.
Cons: The argument is only valid for disproving strawman Flat Earth models. Models involving a holographic Sun projected off of a mirrored dome (biblical firmament) explain the motion of the Sun with great precision.
There you have it, crème de la reddit hive-mind circle-jerk.

A few relevant points: - If you use a sextant and measure the distance to the Sun it's about 3,000 miles high and 32 miles wide. - There's no proof Eratosthenes was a real person and his experiment relies on making multiple assumptions. He's most likely a fictional character created by the ((Jesuits)) as a tool to spread globalist propaganda. His experiment assumes the Sun is millions of miles away, assumes that the Sun's rays strike the Earth in parallel, and assumes the story of the light down the well at noon in an adjacent city is true. This is not even science. - Adding a third point to the experiment doesn't change anything other than increasing its resolution; a small close Sun over a flat plain still works the same.  |

 There's a Flat Earth YouTube documentary out there called "No Forests on Flat Earth". In this video the producer makes the claim that the "Devils Tower" and other mountainous plateaus are tree stumps cut down by an unknown evil entity. The video goes on to try and discredit the creation of fossils and claims the so-called tree stumps and all fossils were silicon life forms. When I first encountered this video it introduced me to the idea of titans (all-be-it trees), an interesting possibility. I had always thought of giants as mythical men of larger stature say, fifty feet tall for example not "titanic" men two miles tall. Something wasn't right however and I'm not the only one who felt the video was onto something but missed the mark. Now enter "mudfossils" created by water flooding the entire earth then encasing everything in mud after the water receded. The "DT" and all mountains, stones and rocks are now explained simply and flawlessly. The "DT" in light of the "mudfossil" revelation appears to be the foot of a giant man. It's really unfortunate the above video leads viewers astray after introducing them to a new concept.
