Someone should email that cantankerous old fart gmaxwell...  Grin

I can also see only one actual argument for v1 versus several for v2. Bear in mind though that this press release is the one for the techy & crypto press rather than the mainstream press.

I only gave suggested edits the first version because those with technical knowledge will know what is going on.

The audience that wouldn't know what is going on would not be technical. In addition, those with technical competency would also be able to read the non-technical version and still be able to go a bit deeper if they wanted to. Non-technical people could only ever respond to non-technical information.

Now try reading that after a few beers  Tongue

The message is that there are no "knowns." There are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say there are things that we now know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we do not know we don't know. So when we do the best we can and we pull all this information together, and we then say well that's basically what we see as the situation, that is really only the known knowns and the known unknowns.

#2, same reasons others have given.

But if you're going with #1, make it r-ando's version.

The big problems of all alts is the cheapness, no liquidity.
How to bring it to market, without throwing exorbitant amounts at the wrong people?

The fuck, Darkcoin. Lets say you want to transfer 10 mil. US $ with Darksend, good idea.
But what happens? You're out there buying DRK for 10 mil ...?
You'll drive the price, exorbitant, unreal, you'll have all the vultures on your back.
Then you Darksend to liquidate at the other end.
You liquidate DRK for 10 mil $ and the price will collapse.
Thats total shit, how you wanna solve this...?
You can't. How you wanna distribute for extended liquidity without distortion?
How you want to make your financial instrument usable?
Impossible in your model, check mate. It can't work like this.
You're out for shit and you know it.

All your shit coins are out for shit, if you trade on your intrinsic value against shit.
You need to make your method valuable, not your bloody fucking shitcoin...

You have a point, ideally we'd have a big enough marketcap to accommodate serious transfers of wealth without that swinging the current market price wildly, but that comes with time and adoption. A few years ago BTC was worth peanuts too, and even now BTC would suffer the same thing if anyone used it for big wealth transfers.

Quite apart from the spot price not being particularly meaningful anyway when trading large amounts, what you miss though is that as long as the wealth gets transferred, it doesn't matter to whoever is doing it what the market value of one discrete chunk of the transfer medium is.

I know in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter, but I am going to be fairly irritated if some coin takes Darksend, rebrands it and uses it for a big pump.  Would be cool if the crypto community ostracized any coins who blatantly take and apply Darksend to their coins for the purpose of pumping.

Darksend requires masternodes. The masternode source has been open for months. Nobody has cloned a thousand masternodes yet. Hell the darksend diagram effectively open-sourced darksend+ months ago too - it's no secret how it works.

There will be a few new shitclones that will have a short pump, an inevitable dump, and the idiots will get taken for a ride as they always do, but there will be no serious competition after today anymore than there was before today.

What there will hopefully be after today is proof to anyone who cares (anyone to whom privacy is actually important) that darksend is trustworthy and can be safely adopted.

i just got a great tip (regarding PR)
from jpr (well done man) regarding a conversation
on IRC he saw (Magazine related)

if you guys see or hear anything related to PR, News Publication,...
please let me know as i can always follow up, get contacts, talk to writers
or try to correct errors !!

and i STILL need any interesting contacts for the
OS Press Release mailing !! (coin magazines, writers, publications,
tech writers, bankers , investment pieps, ....>>)

i just send out tweets to everybody on our list
with a reminder to the Open Source release monday !!!
do the same, spread the word !!!

tungfa, please add wikileaks to the mailing list.

( wl-office@sunshinepress.org, wl-press@sunshinepress.org, more contact details at https://wikileaks.org/wiki/WikiLeaks:Contact )

Last I heard they were advising users that they can donate anonymously with Bitcoin, which as we know is NOT the case.

edit: I imagine most of the sites listed here have donation requirements: http://leakdirectory.org/index.php/Leak_Site_Directory

If I get the time later I'll see if I can compile a contacts list. This would certainly spread awareness among people to whom something like DRK is really needed.

Is there any good article proving that btc address can be paired with users IP?

Plenty, if you look.

Sir Crouton:

Do you have pages / threads up for your various projects? If not, why not?

Mostly no, because people would harass me.

"You've done that wrong, it should do this instead, are we there yet, make it sing, why the fuck isn't it blue, forget about your shitty stuff and come work unpaid on my shitty stuff instead, why is it fucking blue..." etc.  Grin

p2p market progressing slowly, encrypted comms, totally volatile, currently debating how much RAM I can get away with demanding from each connected client.   Undecided

have the killed the trading bots on Mintpal, or just killed Mintpal?
Captcha on access, no markets listed...

Last news is DDoS in effect for 9 hours... Hit them while upgrading to "MintPal v2.0"

Or so they say...

Got a few BTC on there waiting for some flash crash orders......

Haha. This is how I lost a considerable amount of money when Mt.Gox went down for good. I was happy when I bought the cheap coins which fell from the sky like rain but I could never even try withdrawing them.
So, this time I withdrew all my BTC (which waited there for a DRK price move) as fast as I could after the first sign that something is wrong.

Instant transactions will hopefully ameliorate the 'need' for dunderheads to keep money sat on exchanges waiting for trade opportunities.

Send to Botpal, get confirmed in seconds, trade, withdraw.

The less money you leave on an exchange, the less their bots have to work with to screw you and everyone else over.

edit: Hopefully Botpal 2's new owners have discovered just how badly the previous parasites had cooked the books, and everyone's coins are history. Might speed up the death of all of these shitshops.

edit2: Someone please set up Darkpal  - instant confirmations and no trading API=NO FUCKING BOTS shorting your 'investments' into oblivion with your own money...  Wink

The intro video should explain advantage of DRK compared to BTC (stop comparing against $ - our target market knows BTC)
BUMP Agree, there are many FIAT not only $, what we want is to attrack BTC people to use DRK

I disagree. If you have a rifle, you hunt big game, not cockroaches.

Are there still payments for MN's on RC4 ?

Had no time to update ?!

Basically, no: https://drk.mn/blocks.html

The pools are as upgraded as they are going to get. So I guess we have to wait another 2 weeks for enforcement, unless Evan goes with oblox's excellent plan of simply waiting until we get 9 blocks out of a contiguous 10 that pay 20%, calling that 90% compliance, and activating God Mode then and there.

MintPal Huh
They down for maintenance or something?

It is probably related to V2 deployment. They are aware of these issues and last time promised to offer 3 weeks of fee tree trading

http://blog.moolah.io/2014/09/23/mintpal-v2-deployment/

Their bot legions are all returning to base to receive new programming from their new masters.

Unbridled market rape thanks to the $millions that fools leave in the Mintpal coffers will re-commence shortly.

You know Smooth and many others consider XMR alpha and the codebase needs a lot of work.

Lets leave that there until XMR matures through the hard work of the devs and the committed contributors.

true, XMR is alpha level by many standards, but it has been verified by external specialists, the code need lots of redone still.

2) I was talking about removal of drawback rather than extra feature

if its new code I dont see why it will take relatively more or less time than XMR to be matured, it should have always been open-source on first place.

Verified as awful by external specialists maybe: https://twitter.com/petertoddbtc/status/507427225927708672

And Darkcoin has been open source from the start, except Darksend, which was only recently completed/audited and will be open source on Monday. There are many good reasons for not releasing untested code into the wild...

Still, very funny how these Bitcoin people are so stubborn.  You can see they're only interested in their wallets instead of the cause.... and there is nothing wrong with that.... But it's interesting to see.  They should open their eyes though, or else their wallets will suffer in the long run.

Yeah that reddit thread that some of us DRKheads (and Evan) were posting in a few days back was pure cognitive dissonance.

3 people control ~50% of the entire bitcoin network, BTC has two payment processors "so we don't need instant transactions," yet, "1000 masternodes = OMG centralisation, wouldn't touch it with a barge pole!"  Roll Eyes

Nope, pure technical play. Has nothing to do with the overwhelming debt burden:

http://scharts.co/1qEagHS

DXY FTW!

Not sure what the USDX against a bunch of other fiat crap has to do with the Damoclean sword of immanent hyperinflation and $200 trillion in liabilities? But then I'm not an economist.   Huh

Hey toknornal, none of my business but are you still in XDN? I still have a few bazillion but am considering diversifying my strictly-for-giggles gambling portfolio.

Dollar has been breaking out from a long downtrend. Probably the start of another 5-8 year bull cycle.

Imagine every single dogecoin came burdened with $5000 of unrepayable debt. Would you want to own any dogecoin?

The fact that the fed is managing to pump this shit is a scary testament to human stupidity. I doubt the pump will stagger on another 5-8 years, but as camo keeps saying, human stupidity is almost infinite.  Grin

Best hope for the US is to try and keep the Chinese laughing at them for as long as possible. When they stop laughing, they'll bring the hammer down. Going to be one hell of a dump.

Hey there,

Here's a short video for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaJjCeW-d7k (The Death of King Dollar - Documentary)

I don't know if you have already seen this, but I fount it very interesting to be brought to our community.

And now a quote from the website they link to:
Quote
The world is rapidly changing and the U.S. dollar has enjoyed the benefits of being used as the world’s reserve currency, but history tells us that things will change and evidence is showing that it will likely be sooner rather than later.

It's crystal clear for me that the USD demise is the beginning of the cryptocurrencies prevalence, and of the perennial Darkcoin kingdom.

I think they'll get a bit more PoV (Proof of Violence) out of the US$ yet - the Middle East is just getting nicely warmed up again, there's always ebola, or another domestic turrist attack can be arranged. Plenty of opportunities in play right now for another PoV pump!

Watch Kristov Atlas's newest speech.
He talks about darkness and the dark market.

Awesome speech:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhVpPs-Cp_8

I'm starting to like this Kristov Atlas guy. Pity he failed to mention Darkcoin in any of that though, despite Darkcoin completely solving the Bitcoin problems he was mentioning. Centralised-browser-plugin-vapourware Dark Wallet got airtime instead...  Huh

Maybe he's afraid that openly acknowledging DRK's superiority will get him cast out of the BTC zealots club?

Open source means adoption. Which helps take us out of the speculative market (all crypto will always be speculative to a degree) but means people will get darkcoin to pay for things on places like open bazaar, *edit* or croutons torrentplace.

Oh I'm going to get well and truly beaten to it, by smarter and better funded groups, but it's all good. Wonder my Mintpal sold up to whoever it was? They knew their days were numbered.

are you the whale? haha
you dont want the sheepl to know right
darkfanboys getting angry because i tell them everything is manipulated
good old times ...

I've been telling anyone who'll listen that the markets are rigged for as long as I remember, anyone with a 3 digit IQ can see it, nobody cares.

I'm not angry, I'm building a p2p market based on a modded version of the DHT bittorrent uses, python backend with a html web GUI so it'll run on phones too, because I can't be arsed with java and whatever the hell iOS uses. Not my day job, so don't expect it next week, but the days of centralised botriddled exchanges are numbered.  Cool
