16061  Economy / Speculation / Re: looks like ISIS is fundraising with Bitcoin on: January 29, 2015, 03:11:03 PM
Good thing that they use Bitcoin. At least Bitcoin can be traced - within some limits, I know.
Maybe somebody really good will find out who funds those mofos and bring them to justice!
16062  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: QUICKSELLER ABUSIVE TRUST. on: January 29, 2015, 02:56:43 PM
He leave's me negative feedback for no reason, I think that's not fair.
There's any one here, who's taking care of this ?

There's always a reason. Maybe valid, maybe not.
However, the current trust system is not great and it's well known that it can be abused.
Anyone smart enough will read what's claimed in the negative feedback and will decide for himself if the reasons for the feedback were valid or not.

The really bad thing is that your account will not get that easy anymore into signature campaigns, in case you wanted that.
And the only fix I can see is that you'd ask nicely Quickseller to remove that negative. But I see that you started on the wrong foot... Sad
Good luck!
16063  Economy / Economics / Re: No worries.. US debt per person only trippled from 2004-2015 on: January 29, 2015, 12:54:28 PM
I think that the better graph would be the one that shows the colors based on debt as %GDP.
Just it's not loading up for me Sad

Also, imho, more alarming is that in US the public debt change is >10%
16064  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: [ANN] Weekend Bitcoin - The World's Highest Paying Faucet (soon) on: January 29, 2015, 12:27:19 PM
I liked more the 10k / day during weekend. But I am also aware that this way gets you more revenue from ads, so yeah, I can't complain.
Good luck!
16065  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: whats the best alt coin to invest in 2015 on: January 29, 2015, 12:10:01 PM
I really hope that's Monero. Price is low now and I have high hopes it'll start rising at some point this year and will never go this down again.

Can somebody please point me to the right URL for the newest version?
All archives I've found have dnsd.exe from Xmas and the website tells "Blockchain under maintenance, download disabled".
16067  Economy / Services / Re: [BIT-X.com] [NEW RATES] Earn Bitcoins by Posting | Signature Campaign on: January 29, 2015, 11:18:47 AM
i just filled the withraw form on bit-x fomr last hour the payment is still pending Sad ? why

My withdraw went very good and pretty fast.
Pending ... hm... how many confirmations are needed in the place you send the coins? In the last 60 min there were 2 blocks found. Maybe you need more than that.
Keep your eyes on a block explorer and check after the next block(s) are found.

TL;DR: you need more patience.
16068  Economy / Services / Re: [BIT-X.com] [NEW RATES] Earn Bitcoins by Posting | Signature Campaign on: January 29, 2015, 11:06:46 AM
It acts as 2 factor authentication. Soon, google authenticator and authy will be implemented.

Can't wait! I simply hate SMS-based 2FA.
16069  Economy / Services / Re: [BIT-X.com] [NEW RATES] Earn Bitcoins by Posting | Signature Campaign on: January 29, 2015, 10:01:03 AM
Thanks Marco, payment received.

If anyone cares, I have just released my Chrome browser extension that keeps track of how much you have earned right now. The source code can be found on Github. Why post it here? Because people might like it and I'm to lazy to create a [ANN] thread. Grin

Wow, great! Thanks for your work!
16070  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency - 0.8.8.6 on: January 28, 2015, 06:41:01 PM
What is the most ideal hardware for mining Monero?

Multiple 1CPU Ubuntu VPS at Vultr.  $5/month each and they don't mind if you mine.   Grin

Use Dallas, LA, and Seattle.  The other locations have older CPUs.

So that's about $0.17 per day to mine about 0.1 XMR? Seems very unprofitable to me.

Am I getting this wrong?

When I stopped mining Monero I was getting less (!) than 0.1 XMR / day.
I started mining something else then convert to BTC, then move to another exchange, then convert to Monero (lovely, isn't it?) which used to give me a little more than 0.2 XMR / day.
Now that other coin got too cheap, so.. yeah, I may start mine XMR again.
16071  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should I randomly buy into pumpcoins/shitcoins on bittrex ? on: January 28, 2015, 11:28:12 AM
Like for every pump & dump, some win, some lose. If you want to only play, try to watch the market and learn with small amounts for start, else you may get burnt bigtime.

If you want to buy and hold, do more research, not all coin actually worth it.

Yep, quite a shame. It was the most profitable coin I mined in the last months.
But wonders don't last long.
I hope the coin will get better and will keep an eye on it from time to time, but.. *sigh*
16073  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Cryptocoins-Dice official thread (Monero, Coin of the Magi & Dogecoin) on: January 28, 2015, 10:42:20 AM
While I like a leverage system I'm a little skeptical of as much as 100. I think it will drive down gambling, as it is essentially fills the same function.
Instant high risk/reward but with a +EV instead of the -EV.

You're probably right on that point but I believe this is sideway for many reasons,

peoples going for a leverage 100:1 are pretty much more gambling on the short term than investing, which mean they could go bet after a lost on the investment, or go bet after a big win on the investment to get even more.

This feature will be still experimental, I'll monitor a lot how players/investors react, and on need, I'll adjust the leverage down.

Outside the maths, the psychology is also a big factor.

I tried at some point this week to invest in your site and for quite some time I was constantly losing.
Exactly as you expected, I did some gambling.
Not actually normal, but I gained back my loses and also made some profit Smiley
The conclusion is that you should check a little your betting scripts first, I am usually not that lucky.
And, yeah, the other options are OK. If somebody wants to handle investment like a gambling... it's his own business. You can't be blamed for giving the tools.

I just realized I received advice from both a fluffypony and a NeuroticFish Tongue

Thank you both Smiley

Double helpful all the way!

I may use that fish image someday Cheesy especially if the new forum will have some working system for avatars.
16075  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I cant log in to my Xapo wallet on: January 27, 2015, 03:16:57 PM
I just checked my account on xapo. The SMS arrived in seconds and I logged in.
So I guess that's only a glitch between xapo and your carrier.

Let's say you have a wallet with a balance of 123.45 Monero and you want to transfer all of it.  As a fee will be deducted, how do you do this if you don't know what the fee is ahead of time?

Another solution: Try to do the transaction without any fee. It will fail and the (command line) wallet will tell you what the fee is.
Second try you do with correct values and it works.
At least that's how I did last time, iirc.
16077  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What can ordinary men do to make Bitcoin grow? on: January 27, 2015, 12:50:56 PM
What can community members do to contribute to Bitcoin's growth?  Huh

Talk about bitcoin with everyone you can. More businesses work with bitcoin the better.
Tip.
Organize donations from time to time for causes that also increase the visibility / awareness.
Make the community more help-oriented than scam/greed oriented (yeah, this is hard).
Learn from others, let others help this community, even if that would come from an alt ("shit?") coin.

This worked out well for dogecoin. It helped with the awareness a lot. Unfortunately it didn't help with the price.
But you have to ask yourself what you want: an asset with increasing price (hard to achieve by community alone) or a currency.

This is a Chinese shitcoin with 2 little Chinese exchanges. Sad

This coin was pretty good to mine for a while and the exchange I used (coingame.io) worked very good except 1-2 small glitches in more than 1 month.
The dev is quite active too.

Bottom line: although it is a Chinese coin with Chinese exchanges, I've seen much worse murican coins. And it's a free world, go find yourself another coin which suits you better, no biggie.
16079  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Is a Bitcoin mining virus, more powerful than mining farms? on: January 27, 2015, 10:42:04 AM
In any network that has ASICs for some while, such a virus can mine only a very small quantity.
A virus can "make money" on the newer algos, where there are no ASICs yet. Less than a year ago such a virus was mining Dogecoin. Now Scrypt has ASICs too, so the virus writes have to check something else - X13,  M7, ...

Would you imagine Bill Gates telling "I gave more to charity than Obama. I have proof, look, 5000 proof coins"? I don't. Sorry.
