16081  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bruno Kucinskas will run for TBF board seat, running on Cody Wilson's platform. on: November 07, 2014, 11:01:11 AM
As a due-paying lifetime member of The Bitcoin Foundation, I, too, will run to fill one of its empty board seats in January, 2015.

I will run on the exact same platform as Cody Wilson.

16083  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Marketing Agency Uses Homeless As Wi-Fi Hotspots on: November 07, 2014, 10:24:51 AM
This is really intriguing! About two years ago, a questionable test was run at Austin, Texas' South by Southwest festival last year, called “Homeless Hotspots.” A marketing business gave a number of homeless people mobile wireless hotspots, which people could use for a recommended donation and compensated them for doing it. It brought on controversy as people cried “exploitation,” but 11 of 13 participants were able to get off the roads with the money it made.Do you think it is a form of exploitation or are these people trying to help the homeless and increase awareness?

Clever little bastard, aren't you, hanna?

I see you've done the same over here: https://forums.butterflylabs.com/off-topic/4630-who-lives-florida.html#post66095

Via Google, it looks like you travel East to West and West to East, jetsetting the globe one website at a time. Do you ever get tired?

Sorry, but that just does not seem to me to be a good way of signing as a "Head of Product Development" (of a 2 - or maybe even 1 - man show)...

I have my own company with a similar (holding) structure. Since I am "proud" of that (read: don't have anything to hide or "be afraid of") I sign my "official statements" like this:

Directeur Grootaandeelhouder (DGA)

dude, shut up, i dealed with bitfury years ago, they were as legit as u can get ... punin just posted a warning and u try to move the discussion someplace else ... mind your own business

You want to know what's funny. I was basically done with this thread seeing no reason for me to be here... That is until you showed up and posted, then all kinds of red flags rose, so I started me a diggin'.

Look at http://www.bitfury.com/team and search the net for "Punin". Although you are right about signature, I meant that this guy does not hide behind some anonymous handle. This is the only thing I meant to say.

Yes, found it (I guess it's Niko Punin) but this is even more worrying; if I we search for more info about Bitfury at the Chamber of Commerce I see the holding bv has 1 employee, the Development bv has none (0, zero) and the R&D bv has also 1 employee. So where do all these other people fit into the "team"...Huh (CEO, CTO, CFO - at least - are considered "employees" and who are they "chief" of?)

Sorry, but to me - personally - only more and more red flags arise...

And as I - already - said: nothing personal, but after being burned by BFL I am very, VERY careful who I deal with in bitcoinland. So these "issues" raised here should be dealt with before I would consider doing business with them.

I opted to stay mum the first time you posted similar in the wrong section, but now you've gone ahead and posted two. Something doesn't smell right.

Where should I post it? If accidently posted it in the wrong section, my apologies, i will gladly take it down if this is an issue.. I am gathering completely 100% anonymous answers to questions for data that will help the crypto currency communities reach the general public. PLEASE, by all means let me know what i can do differently, so it smells better. I would gladly send you a picture of my face or whatever you need. I am active all over twitter, @marketminded is my personal account, if you want my linkedin here ya go https://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=253427194&trk=nav_responsive_tab_profile Sorry for my sas, it just urks me that people are willing to throw 10k in Moolah and all these scams without asking questions, but my harmless survey that's trying to do some good gets your scrutiny.  I put a lotta work into this and am giving away not a lot of money, but with my budget, lots lol.

See how easy it is come across legit. I ONLY read half your reply and feel that you're a cool dude. Would somebody else please let him know which section is appropriate for his two threads?

Peace.

EDIT: Well, that was quick. Looks like it was already done prior to me posting this reply.

Good luck, bud.

====================================================================================================================================

Well, you fucked up, bud! If you would have operated nefariously like BFL, you wouldn't have people sitting up fake sites to steal away your customers. If I'm not mistaken, only one person made such a mistake mimicking BFL till he came to his senses wondering what the fuck he was thinking and trying to accomplish by representing a scam outfit via a scam outfit. Next time don't be so viable and you wouldn't have these worries.

I don't think Nick Szabo is a shadow figure, he developed "bitgold" and i think even spoke publicly about it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nick_Szabo
Probably didn't want to use his real name when developing bitcoin so people didn't reference bitgold and why it failed.
He is my best bet for Satoshi.

Nick Szabo is not a shadowy figure. For proof, I will glean an image from the hundreds available on the internet depicting his likeness via Google images. I'll be back in a sec unless by happenstance I fail in my quest.

http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-foundations-new-head-patrick-murck-outlines-future-plans/

Quote
The Bitcoin Foundation's new executive director Patrick Murck has outlined his priorities for the organization's "new direction" and its relationship with stakeholders.

His statement follows yesterday's resignation of former executive director Jon Matonis both from the post and his position on foundation's board.

Notably, former general counsel Murck acknowledged a need to repair the foundation's relationship with the bitcoin community, even if that meant sometimes adopting unpopular or controversial positions on some issues, and taking risks with communication and transparency to demonstrate honest engagement.

He wrote:

"That means we may not always say exactly the right thing and we might not always be on message, but we will be authentic in how we interact with the community in the future and I hope that you all get to know the people who work hard to make the foundation go."

There will be an 'ask me anything' (AMA) session for the new executive director on Reddit on 5th November, at which the community is invited to join in with their own questions about the foundation's future role.

Murck stated his first priority is to "cut out distractions" to better serve the bitcoin cause, which means a sharp focus on standardization through the bitcoin core reference implementation and doing more to support those building the bitcoin infrastructure.

Additionally he promised to run the non-profit foundation more like a business – finding new ways to generate funding, rather than simply relying on membership dues and hopes of bitcoin price appreciation.

AMA = Avoid Monumental Assholes

Patrick Murck sure the hell succeeded.

Not to sound like a jerk, but who cares about the Bitcoin Foundation?  Isn't the whole point of bitcoin so we don't have to deal with bureaucratic bullshit?  In my eyes, they're 100% totally irrelevant, and just created themselves a bunch of good paying jobs.

Hell with it, I'm starting Bitcoin Foundation 2.0 -- who's in?  If we play our cards right, we can all be making 7 figures within the next 12 months for not doing much except talking.  Cool deal, eh?

There's absolutely no doubt about it, TBF have to provide proof of the transaction on the blockchain; it's the only course of action that will restore confidence in the operation of the Foundation and the credibility of the directors.

No Matt that's not why I resigned. I resigned because I had to think about Bitcoin, the foundation, and its future. I decided that regardless of the merits of my case, anyone representing Bitcoin, including foundation execs, should have a standard of excellence and transcend any scandal. I resigned within 2 hours of returning home from prison.
