Yes, there will be dips.
Yes, there will be peaks.
Yes, there will be pumps.
Yes, there will be dumps.

Just Zoom OutTM, chill, and have a beer!

If you're scared about a dip, you need some HoDL training...

Don't give them your coins.

A rusty nut won't budge, and that's about the only good quality of a rusty nut.

HoDL.
Sure man, I am like you on this. But, what I am seeing coming from the regulators is making me thinking (just have a look at V8's post up here). Maybe I am a bit naive but I don't want to become rich at the expense of my freedom, if you get what I mean.  Roll Eyes
I know I should elaborate more but I am confused.
1622  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Judge Orders Bitfinex to Turn Over Tether Loan Documents (Again) on: September 22, 2020, 10:13:43 AM
I'm not much of a speculator, so even if it meant some turmoil in the short term, I think it's better the poison is bled out sooner rather than later.

Think of it this way, what would cause a bigger loss of faith in the markets?  Recognising it for what it is and allowing it to collapse now at $14 billion of mirage fakery, or pretending it's not a problem and waiting until it balloons to $140 billion and then blows up in our faces?  The longer we allow the charade go on, the bigger the fallout will be.

However, you do not think that the tether rug pull will not cause the cryptospace's biggest crisis that might take years for recovery? It might not only be a short term turmoil.

If anyone has any viable alternatives, I'm all ears.  They're going to keep printing more from nothing.  New traders are probably being suckered in daily.  It's only going to get bigger.  Is there a way to collapse it gradually without causing an avalanche that brings the entire mountain down on us?

The only thing I can think of is some sort of educational campaign to highlight the dangers.  But I suspect the greed of traders will win out, just as it's been doing all along.  They're not going to listen to reason.
Exactly, the greed of traders will win out even if/when the truth will out. We all know that if this bubble bursts there is no going back. We can only expect more control coming from the regulators (who are already pushing their agenda like hell) and a possible crypto winter come back.
People will cry for their money and this world will never be the same again. If you ask me, shame on them. Sorry.
1623  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reminder Everyone: If You Don't Have The Keys, Then It's Not Your Crypto on: September 22, 2020, 10:07:09 AM
Before starting a new thread I saw this one doing some research. Following OP's golden reminder Not Your Keys, Not Your Coins I would suggest that everyone take a look down memory lane to remember how many failed exchanges we saw during these years.
Mismanagement, theft, hacks etc. can always take your coins away from you.

I was lucky enough to have withdrawn my funds from both Cryptsy and Mintpal before they collapsed. For those of you who don't remember them, those where like the Huobi, Bitstamp, Bitfinex of today.

So, please, learn how to manage your wallet/keys  Cool

1624  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Judge Orders Bitfinex to Turn Over Tether Loan Documents (Again) on: September 21, 2020, 04:29:28 PM
It's one of those cases where you want both sides to lose, heh.

I don't doubt the Attorney General's office are basically grasping in the dark, have no idea what they're actually looking for and probably wouldn't recognise it if they found it.  But at the same time, it's right that they should be suspicious of Bitfinex, who have been excessively furtive and rather shady in their dealings around the supposed "fully backed" nature of Tether.  It would be genuinely astounding to me if it turns out they really do have $14 billion USD in reserve, but something tells me they're never going to attempt to prove that's the case.  Last I heard of this ongoing farce, they'd amended their T&Cs to state that other assets may be used to back Tether, but didn't go into much further detail about what those assets might be.

I'll take this opportunity to give the usual reminder that people should only have funds on exchanges that they can afford to lose, particularly in the case of Bitfinex at the moment.  Also, if anyone currently has large sums stored in USDT, consider hedging with some other stablecoins (although, personally, they all sound as scammy and dangerous as each other to me, so I don't actually recommend holding any of them).

I am sorry to stress the fact that Bitcoin and Tether are quite linked together, unfortunately. Hence, if there will be a defeat of both Bitfinex and Tether, Bitcoin will inevitably face a few consequences.
We have seen this already but this could be like an atomic bomb. Look a USDT cap and tell me how that will not reflect on BTC.

tl;dr take your funds out of finex just in case, and avoid using tether to store your wealth until things will look better

I can't leave for a few days that I lose touch with everything here and corn starts to fall. If my 5 minutes reading is correct, I guess corn is following stocks right now and I still don't get why.  Angry

Gee, wonder why ol' Warren Buffett dropped all of his bank stocks earlier this year? He couldn't have been tipped off, right?  /s  Wink

This is juicy. Now that Bitcoin is not involved what they will be whining about? Oh, yes right, BANKS!

1626  Economy / Economics / Re: Boris is right a second lockdown could cripple UK economy. on: September 21, 2020, 04:13:03 PM
The fortunes of cities, regions and countries around the world shift over time. In the twentieth century, for example, London first boomed, then declined and finally recovered. Then Covid-19 came and everything changed again for the UK capital.
Boris is right, the economy is not going to be the same. Lockdown or not, people need to adapt quickly. We can not expect to live the same way we were used to.

Possibly this is not the right market area for us to advertise, in which case I do apologize. Thanks anyway.
Nailed it. You will hardly find any client here on Bitcointalk posting a thread. It's better to do some rounds of advertising on the forum, host an advertising campaign etc.
I will personally give a look at your service since I am quite curious.

We’re certainly having to be far more patient this time around, compared to previous bull runs. I’m not the most patient person IRL but when it comes to The Corn, I have developed over the years an unfathomably strong ability to patience-HODL.

If you can develop a similarly strength, it seems guaranteed that the rewards will be immense. It’s just a matter of time. More specifically, how long can you remain patient? That variable will determine the degree to which btc will reward you. How big a reward you need is up to you.

That was my thought for the day while out for a run and microdosing
It is being said that Shaolin monks are the strongest corn holders. When corn will reach the Himalayas, Shaolin monks will rule the world.
I believe this is confirmed by math and science.

The root problem with conventional currency is all the trust that’s required to make it work. The central bank must be trusted not to debase the currency, but the history of fiat currencies is full of breaches of that trust. Banks must be trusted to hold our money and transfer it electronically, but they lend it out in waves of credit bubbles with barely a fraction in reserve. We have to trust them with our privacy, trust them not to let identity thieves drain our accounts.

If people would understand this very simple mechanism I am sure there will be a massive FOMO.

The confirmed science and math that Satoshi didn't understand has to do with how poorly this system functions as a currency. We tried it for a few years. It doesn't work. It's only a bad speculative vehicle, which now people realize and have been dumping for 4 years. The project failed. Neat idea, but fractional reserve banking is clearly better based on all proven and confirmed science and math. I'm glad Satoshi tried this out, but now we know it doesn't work and we can go back to the way things are proven to work best.

But when the ATH is breached, the real FOMO will start. Then the SEC morons like Jay Clayton will realise that invetstors do not need their approval to invest in Bitcoin. The obstacles they've built are not applied for Bitcoin. Peeps like Clayton and Mnuchin are bastards of the fiat adultery, while we are the true heirs of the only asset that will survive and get stronger with time.

The obstacles you talk about were put in place for a very simple reason: to avoid the 99% to know what the 1% do to be wealthy.
Bitcoin destroys all this.

It's about time and I quote your personal message All good things to those who wait. I can't merit you because my pockets are empty but as soon as they come I will divert them to you (EDIT: done Smiley ). Your Legendary path must be accelerated.

1635  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-09-14] RGB Continues Its Work to Bring Better Smart Contracts to Bitcoin on: September 16, 2020, 06:54:07 AM
They have been developing it avoiding too much attention. RGB, being the next step after colored coins, need to be really ready to be taken seriously by the bitcoin community. It looks like they are doing a good job so far but as you correctly point out a simple BTC escrow smart contract to use right off the bat... will have to wait.  Smiley
1636  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 15, 2020, 01:25:22 PM
it is an interesting endevour to think about the strange relationship between bitcoin, "blockchain" and "crypto". we all know that bitcoin is a scientific breakthrough and the first technology to have accomplished digital scarcity. since everything that becomes digitized enters a new dimension of usability it is no rocket science to expect an appreciation in price of the one and only truly scarce token that was able to digitize value for the first time in history = bitcoin market cap will rise.

then came the shitcoiners, copy&paste the open source bitcoin code, change some arbitrary features (for example: faster block time), declare bitcoin is old tech and try to sell you their centralized scamcoin for bitcoin, yelling "tokenize everything", dismissing that only bitcoin is digitally scarce and call everything the you can bribe coinmarketcap.com into listing it a "cryptocurrency".

then came the "blockchain-not-bitcoin" marketing geniuses from the legacy financial space, declaring "blockchain" is the tech behind bitcoin (which it isn't, since blockchain is just a database structure) and further declare blockchain will change the world, yelling "tokenize everything", dismissing that only bitcoin has achieved digital scarcity and that digital scarcity cannot be pegged to the physical world.

the weird thing is that one side has created 6000 tokens with no use case (other than scamming) and the other side has come up with thousands of use-cases but not a single working token (or "blockchain" product) with real demand in the business world. that fact alone should should get the scammers and their targeted prey wondering.

not sure if there has ever been a new tech that was so profoundly misunderstood. there is no "crypto", there is no "blockchain-tech" there is only bitcoin, the rest is either a scam or a technical/economical shitshow or - in most cases - BOTH.

FYI, it seems they now have >100 nodes, and that seemed to be their threshold for their rewards program. I did manage to get my node on their list before they officially closed it, but i have no idear if my node was within the first 100....
We should start a specific thread on this but I don't know where to place it. This is only about the news itself and if we want to discuss the matter we need a new thread. Any idea where it should be placed?

Sorry... I wasn't planning on derailing your thread... I just tought it was pertinent information for the people reading your press release Smiley
I guess a thread about this matter might fit in the service discussion, altough, to tell you the truth, it's a bit of a grey area and i'm not 100% sure where to put such a thread...

By the way: after the discussion about the extra thread has been finished, don't hesitate to PM me if you want me to remove my posts in this thread to keep it clean... I don't mind cleaning up my posts if they are derailing the idear behind your original post Wink
Don't worry mocaccino! This was not my intention at all  Smiley There's no need to delete anything here. My question was about what you said: this is a grey area and I don't know where to place a proper thread on this.
We will leave it here for the moment until further updates  Wink Thanks
1638  Bitcoin / Press / [2020-09-14] RGB Continues Its Work to Bring Better Smart Contracts to Bitcoin on: September 15, 2020, 06:50:59 AM
The Takeaway
  • Under development by the LNP/BP Standards Association, the RGB protocol entered beta in June.
  • The second layer network promises to bring smart contracts and tokenized assets to Bitcoin with a Lightning Network-esque technical design.
  • RGB could be used to issue tokenize securities and nonfungible tokens (NFT), and to offer a more private means of stablecoin issuance and transfer.

Smart contracts and Bitcoin. These technical phenomena are rarely associated with each other, often because people believe Bitcoin’s paired-down scripting language can’t support the smart contract applications that have become the darlings of the Ethereum ecosystem.

1639  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-08-11] MicroStrategy Adopts Bitcoin as Primary Treasury Reserve Asset on: September 15, 2020, 06:47:31 AM
Shortly after the miners' dump, we might have some good news from Microstrategy hehe. I reckon that the insitutions applying for an ETF and hoping for approval should move quickly. There might not be plenty of pumps left for them hehehehe.

MicroStrategy had previously indicated that it saw bitcoin and other alternative investments as a means to avoid inflation, noting that "it makes sense to shift our treasury assets into some investments that can't be inflated away or are less likely to be inflated away."

A new filing from September 14 indicates that the company might be eyeing additional bitcoin purchases.

This is a juicy update that shows how the first press release on the subject was not intended for marketing purposes only. Microstrategy is really betting hard on bitcoin. Well done

Observing some profit taking in the $10.7k range. Looks like we may be in for a bit of sideways action before $11k.

I give it 24 hours.
Unless some wild Bart Simpson movements will move it up or down in minutes. Let's wait 24 hours: confirmed.
