16365  Economy / Speculation / Re: I do believe bitcoin price will boom when we switch from GPU to ASIC mining on: October 20, 2012, 06:00:09 AM
When we use GPU, money from miners go to AMD's hand and doesn't comeback. When we use ASIC, the asic companies will use a portion of that money to promote their business, attract more users & miners come to bitcoin economy. This causes a positive feedback loop and bitcoin economy will boom. Right now, butterflylabs are promoting its business using google ads.

I guess someone out there might click their Google ad and find out about bitcoin that way, but writing "Bitcoin" on the back seat of a buss might be more effective marketing, to bring new money in...

I fully expect ASIC mining to bring a lot of new miners on board (mostly old bitcoiners trying out mining for the first time)  and that's why I'm staying away from mining.  Wink

Driven by the dash for digital cash the bull charged full force into bear territory.
Right after crossing the 15 mark, the bears ambushed the bull and sent him running back with his tail tucked between his legs.
Licking his wounds the bull told all his bullish friends about what the bears had done to him and exactly where they were hiding
All the bulls were outargued and declared war! They quickly formed a front line at the edge of bear territory and began to march forward.
The Bears fell back as the bull continued to move forward.
At the 13 mark, Old Mama Bear said in anger. "THE LINE MUST BE DRAW HERE! THIS FAR NO FURTHER!"
Inspired by Old Mama Bear's words the bears attacked will all their might, in an attempted to drive the bulls out of their territory... but the bulls were to numerous, and they failed.

after days of skirmishing the battle field is filled with the stench of filled orders and neither side appears to have the advantage.

to be continued...

When the block reward drops by half of the current amount your cow will dry significantly.

i have to agree... when reward drops your cow will dry up significantly, so keep on milking it!

16377  Economy / Speculation / Re: New Indicator: Futures on: October 18, 2012, 11:10:58 PM
Futures try to predict the future and trade options accordingly,

I think you found the holy grail of Indicators! defiantly beats my magic 8 ball...  Cheesy

If you want to buy, then buy. I mean obviously if you want to buy then you plan on btc going up at some point. The plunge and a btc price crash hurts btc in the long run. It scares people off. Crap like that is what got the entire world in a recession/depression right now. Nothing changed, it's just fear and manipulation.

I'd say overpriced bitcoins hurts bitcoin.
person buys bitcoin, bitcoin crashes, person hates bitcoin.
I'm not going to buy now because i feel its over priced, I will support lower prices.
16379  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: October 18, 2012, 02:16:00 PM
But I agree BTC has the higher chance for gain, while PM's are safer.

Interestingly my brother, who has been reluctant to invest in either BTC nor metals up to recently told me today that he considered the metals to be pretty risky and started putting fiat into bitcoin three weeks ago. While being new to both kinds of "investment", he seems to feel more comfortable with bitcoin than with metals.

Welcome to the Age of the Internet!  Wink  Let me guess; he's probably 14 yo.  Grin

He's in his 30s, has 2 kids.

About the tungsten being as bad as bitcoin somehow hacked: It's even worse: at least with bitcoin we would know, since all "coins" are accounted for. Also: the bitcoin you have can't suddenly turn out to be "fake". With gold, you just don't know until you try to sell to someone who is suspecting enough to check.

Why molecular; do I sense a preference for Bitcoin over gold?  Omg!

I'm slowly breaking you all down!

I have always preferred bitcoin over gold Wink

if it wasn't for bitcoin I'd probably have some tungsten filled gold...

thank you Satoshi
