I have to come back some day and read that article, as I have no time right now.
1642  Other / Off-topic / Re: DRM infestation attempt by Microsoft? ( Turns out it's old! Build 7601 ) on: October 25, 2013, 12:47:54 PM
So I wake up this morning after installing some updates yesterday to find the following message at the bottom of the screen:

Quote

Windows 7
Build 7601
This copy of windows is not genuine

Now this is interesting because I successfully installed this copy of Windows 7 ( before you ask yes it's not a legal copy, but fuck them I bought Windows 95, 98 and XP and I don't see why I should have to pay for a Windows Vista patch ) and I made sure to remove the DRM nastiness beforehand but I'm going to do some more digging around and find out if the new update I installed had some DRM snuck into it. Has anyone else suddenly run into this problem? Just thought I'd check to see if it's some older update that I didn't know about, there have been posts about this and it's affecting people with genuine copies like with the older DRM updates that everybody should avoid.

So far I haven't had any limitations on Windows but I had noticed it behaving oddly recently so I wonder if this is something Microsoft put in to try annoying pirates again.

Okay, looked around and found it was an old update there are fixed for, 2012? Why the fuck did it only ever kick in until now?

Dude, please delete your illegal software and use back your XP...
Watch out, it's the piracy police!

It's easy to pick holes in other peoples work especially when you just put on the grammar Nazi hat. I'd like to see one of your pieces of work.

I personally don't mind a good spell checker. If I ever want to update my thesis PDF I will have all the typos and mistakes in one place for easy reference Wink.
You are replying to someone who is criticizing a year-old post.
Still, the most interesting part of this thread was the language discussion. Smiley
1644  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Hermes trading algorithm | Statistically ~10x more profitable than EMA trading on: October 23, 2013, 10:30:13 PM
Is there a way to verify that there is no malicious code in there?
I'd imagine so, yes. Since it's javascript you can look up all the code.
1645  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: October 23, 2013, 10:13:59 PM
so, when will you guys get more cash to Bitstamp? atm, Bitfinex is not usable for me with Bitstamp asks disapearing all the time
So this is why routing through Bitstamp does nothing?
1646  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many bitcoins you are holding *NO TROLLING on: October 21, 2013, 11:47:07 AM
People usually feel a bit wary of putting a big "rob me" sign around their necks. It's maybe not a huge risk to say how much you're holding, but it is a risk, and seems to have no benefit.

rebuilder you are right.. so people who aren't scared can post if they like.

Can't touch it if its cold Wink
I have about 1.18, would've had 3.50 or so, but lost most of them to gambling. Sue me, no wait, don't  Tongue Before this, I sold 11-12 during April skyhigh, before that I used to have even up to 100, but those were in the old days, when it was easy to mine that many.
1647  Other / Off-topic / Re: What in the world is this? on: October 19, 2013, 09:14:08 PM
So this is actually legal??? That is just terrible.
1648  Other / Off-topic / Re: What in the world is this? on: October 19, 2013, 08:56:38 PM
is this real? regardless,

facebook loves importing your contacts but try exporting them anywhere.

#walledgarden

also never underestimate the stupidity of people especially on facebook. I have two accounts a real one and a fake one and the fake one has exponentially more friends. I use neither.

Yup it's real, I've noticed it before but never actually read what it says till just before posting the thread.

and part of facebook rather than some phishing app?
I think it's an App, but it was on the right side on my News Feed.

Like wtf? Is there any bloke out there that would fall for that? Why is it even allowed to exist??
1651  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are bitcoin user cheap? on: October 19, 2013, 08:23:04 PM
I am going to give my opinion, which in no way represents what may be happening, but it's likely due to the scarcity of Bitcoins(hard to obtain for the avg new user) and that they will likely rise in value even more.

The whitepaper states

Quote
Find nonce A and nonce B such that BirthdayHash(A+H) == BirthdayHash( B+H)

Does it mean all 256 bits must be the same?
+1. Would like to hear this as well.
1653  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Selling up on: October 17, 2013, 07:13:04 PM
May I offer a simple suggestion? Considering that the Eruptors don't use a lot of power, can you not just let them mine SOLO in the hopes of mining a block? The probability is low, but it's not 0 and you could be luckier than you thought. I know I was.
1654  Other / Off-topic / Re: What video games do you play? on: October 17, 2013, 11:10:37 AM
In fact, Terraria is much better than Minecraft in my opinion

But thats maybe because Minecraft looks so ugly

Try it with HD texture packs and shaders. It will look sort of like a square version of reality Wink
This. There are some insane and heavy HD mods that require quite good GPUs to run at decent hashrate.
Look through a few lets plays of known players, their MC is always loaded with mods.

1655  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi identified, now what? on: October 16, 2013, 10:25:30 PM
OMG, everyone stop using Bitcoin now.

time of posting pic coincides with the MTGOX drop for $160 to below $150

Edit ( meant as a joke, as some people take things a little too seriously sometimes.... if it wasn't obvious as a joke then please now relax that you now know it wasnt a serious market affecting event that will cost you dearly)

So I just sold all my coin for nothing? Aw shucks....
(/sarcasm)

...And I bought your coins!
Too bad, I executed a MITM attack and now all your coins are belong to me!
1656  Other / Off-topic / Re: Anyone watch AOT? on: October 16, 2013, 05:31:24 PM
Then read manga, Shingeki no Kyojin I started "reading" waaay before any anime was planned. The art was a bit difficult to get used to, but it was interesting, though chapters were a bit slow. Haven't read it or watched the anime in a very long time, I read a lot of manga per day and some have plot, others don't.

Try Hetakoi.
1657  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: No confirmation in over 90 minutes? on: October 16, 2013, 05:28:07 PM
I sent some BTC from one exchange to another and there have been 0 confirmations in over 90 minutes now.  Is that anything to worry about?
It's more likely a case of scumbag MtGox not paying any fees for it's outgoing transactions. It is also preferable, in my opinion, to withdraw money to your wallet first, so you are in control of at least part of the transaction and it's progress can be easily monitored.

Exactly, exchange sites are paying less or 0 fees and their coins age is low.
I did a transaction of 1 BTC and it got confirmed in max 5 seconds.

I think that was because, your transaction got relayed to a miner which at the time either found a block and included it, or you tx got relayed to some other relay that relayed it to a miner that included it in a block . Basically, you were lucky you sent it just before a block was found and a miner included it.
1658  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it possible that I spoke with satoshi? Maybe another Bitcoin dev can answer on: October 15, 2013, 10:29:10 PM
What? How could Satoshi perform such a blunder compromising his identity?
1659  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did Satoshi cash out 77,624 BTC? on: October 15, 2013, 09:42:53 PM
I remember Satoshi sent 10BTC to Hal Finney to test the transaction system, perhaps you are referring to that user?
1660  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bruce Schneier: Insecurities in the Linux /dev/random on: October 14, 2013, 10:53:23 PM
If I remember correctly, OpenSSL on Linux uses /dev/random and time(NULL) for generating a seed for the private keys.
