There's no back shot, but is it me or does each unit look a little larger than the single 841's? Maybe meaning more air flow across the heat sinks if similar design? 140mm fans or larger?

There's a few data centers here, many of them are looking for end-users!

I'm at the Infomart Center, which is where Linkedin's west coast servers are at.   They bill more for the actual amp usage and internet vs the actual power being used.  Have never gone over in my space with six miners.

We'll I'm drooling at the 0.06/kw rate and the time of use:https://www.portlandgeneral.com/business/power-choices-pricing/pricing-plans/time-of-use/time-of-use-pricing pricing will need some math maybe. Summer looks best to switch to this structure.

Hoping to submit for my licence this week and look forward to growing out of the garage and another rally in market to power back on and sneak that lucky s7 back on the rack till the s9i arrives.

Yep, with that kind of hash power....central WA is where you want to be.   Mine's in Hillsboro, but I only have 77.5 T/H and I can get there in about 30 minutes if need be.

How much is the power in the boro? I've been looking at mid and off peak hours with PGE might be worth starting an LLC even with four asics.  ..

This is the reason my wife asked me shut down the home mine, the noise we have managed well but the profits aren't there. I just a have a few GPU's and will be trying out stick miners here soon and pop those on the pool. Still our power is expensive which is odd since Bonneville Hydro dam is here. The last few bears I mined through and held through to a bull but the rough april/may here hurt my little four asic set up. Also the company finally let me use a buyers coupon that was donated and never used right before expiration so I got another s9i fairly cheap a couple weeks back, which pulled the reserves I unfortunately would have used for the power bill this month.

It was better that the wife didn't know so much, but now she's really interested in mining. Which is a change from boring the shit out of her. We might look at a larger set up and find some cheap power here in NW if we can or get units hosted but that could be a long way off. I suppose I could run something in the attic without her knowing but I would prefer to stay married. I'm optimistic type so I feel rebound is close to were I'll turn everything on again. Even now punching these keys BTC pricing jumped up about $300. Wink

If you can't make it work by going north of the Columbia River, it may not pencil out for you...as that's some of the cheapest electricity around.   May need to eat the power bill for a few months and collect your BTC to see if the price rises.

I'll look up north here, thanks. The plan I've been developing will hope to add 600th/s min. or equivalent of $200k in asics per year if I can get investment. Then I can tell mfb they'll need a new social media troll. Or maybe i'll keep the gig, it's actually pretty chill. Just have them 1099 me or something. I'm planning to jump back on around 7.5k usd should be enough with asics and gpu's in profit to appease the mrs.

...Still our power is expensive which is odd since Bonneville Hydro dam is here...
Given that the dam is competitive in 8 states, proximity is mostly irrelevant. Not to mention the fact that the $300 million in expenditures is going to go up in the next 7 years for "expansion" and "replacement".

Tell you wife to stay off crap sites that don't take scale into account, dump all you can into mining, and get ahead of next year's electric price increase.  Wink

What site do you recommend profitability? I would love to pour $20k at least into mining BTC and maybe another 10k into GPU's but it's hard to communicate the value of volume and with ROI's at least on most asics is far off. I would love to buy now while the pricing is cheap.

Also, do I need more rank to link a URL in sig or am I just a BCCode newb .. ..

try ...your link...

and  not the way it is above as it won't show if I do it correctly  it will link instead

I did that and it reformats it to "[ url=http://www.minefarmbuy.com]www.minefarmbuy.com" (space front and end of course).

What's the site you use for forcasting profits? or have you set up something of your own?

Well I'll be gone here not of my own choice but after going over the profitability of the s7 the other night the wife has become proficient on whattomine and has communicated that $11/month profit from the s9 and $2 form 821's isn't "enough" to deal with the noise (wish our electric was cheaper Wink). It's actually kind of weird now that their turned off. At least the gpu's are humming in the home office.

I do feel like a mother with an empty nest (garage) though. Thanks for all the fish everyone, I'll be back once "profits" are acceptable to her. I guess now I can setup a more permanent address to mine to once we get a good market swing.
1649  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Newbie Miner FIRST Rig in route (Antminer S9) - Outlet/Plug question on: June 17, 2018, 02:46:40 PM
The pics are tight, I wonder if they wrapped the outlets in tape because they were touching wires and shorting the circuits. Could be an old practice if an older home or someone who wasn't able to set the receptacle well with wires behind. Cant really see the mesh wires but my old 1965 home has what your speaking to, not much of an issue if everything is in good condition still, though it may be hard to know what gauge was used. I would air on the side of 14 gauge.

If the 220 line free, it's your best bet. I would just plug in a pdu that fits the receptacle or replace it with one that will match a pdu for a 50a line. if your unit comes with a psu just will need a different power cord for to match the socket on pdu and your power is pretty optimal.

If your using AC to cool the s9, I would look to vent not cool as already suggested. It's pretty redundant and usually not cost/profit effective, with one s9 pending your kw/hr cost you'll be in the negative unless power isn't an issue.

Keeping the order or canceling is really a judgement call, if you're really interested in mining, one asic is great way to learn and find all the pain points with power, noise and heat and may very well better prepare you for your move and setting up there as well.

Worst case scenario the unit sits in box till move and set up then. Ensure it's working properly of course when you receive.

* ComputerGenie still runs 12 S7-LNs converted into S7s

Do you have pretty cheap power? I'm at .13 kw, not ideal for mining especially with the s7 right now. Once the "heat" dies down from the wife I'll imagie I'll turn it back on if I don't upgrade. I only have one 30a 240 line so only hand full asics can run at once at the house.
1651  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [140PH] ckpool.org ZERO FEE SPLNS no registration mining pool US/DE/CN on: June 16, 2018, 04:08:18 AM
What a busy week for us! Sad though at the same time. . ..

My wife saw the power bill and had to answer to profitability . . so the no profit s7 was ceremoniously de-powered today. It was kind of my favorite. So please lets give it a moment of silence in respect.

Home3 has never had an issue hashing at 4.7th the entirety I have had it. It was bought used off ebay and was so nice running through LY. I was scared as I opened it when I received it and literally had bird feathers inside. Looked like it literally was from a farm. In grace it goes, with a quick tug from the pdu.  .. . home3 will be remembered and not forgotten. And I have learned the valuable lesson, to pay the power bill sooner. May we all hash on for ever and ever. Mine on.
1652  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: High fan-speed with new batch Antminer S9s on: June 14, 2018, 02:34:35 PM
There are ways to set the fan to a static speed where you might not have noise. Also if your blowing air at the units it can cause high pitched sounds as well. Some people will put filters on their units if they whistle/sing which can reduce the noise. There really is no cure, your unit will most likely sound this way its whole life but you can manage it somewhat just be careful and more about it. There is probably a few threads on the subject already. Good luck!

The way the pool is scored and fee for most, camaraderie for some.

Looks like Halong is taking some miners off for shipping and adding new ones for burn-in. Let's see how far we trace back up w our pool hash rate. Maybe someone could order 1,000 miners for us so they have to burn them in. Just a thought for a good deed to do if your looking to do something nice today.

Didn't realize Halong had made an announcement of a new batch yet.

Yum, not the thread I was expecting here today. High protein, high fat everyday. Do enjoy all the beer though in Oregon. OUr wines are getting pretty damn good to.

ROI is bout 80 days if plugged in today and batch 1 will be two months ahead of batch 2. Coin profits will drive where the hash goes but you're pretty safe from forks for a couple months at least. You're much safer buying now as opposed to batch 2. Then with batch two price should be lower and forking announcements could happen prior to batch release. I wouldn't be to nervous about a single unit purchase of an A9. Even then there will still be places like nicehash that will run your asics for profit like they do with cryptonight and X11.
1660  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 17.2TH/s, 1570W Innosilicon announces the most powerful and efficient BTC Miner on: June 09, 2018, 06:51:19 PM
Looks like MOQ has dropped to 5 units and their shipping cost was reduced as well, lowering overall price. We've been getting everything as ordered so far but you never know, customer service is as much a commodity as an asic. We have listed just under 1.8k and 9k for single and full MOQ now. We're happy we could place orders at the new MOQ and price, but it's still not market competitive. If you order straight from them its looking like a hair over 1.6k, without customs/impport taxes. Best.
